Bistec

We were excited to eat here. Then it turned out to be terrible. The service was subpar but I don't necessarily think it was her fault. She was spread way too thin between too many tables. We ordered the cheese crisp which was strange. They should describe it as a pizza because that's what it was with no sauce. I definitely wouldn't recommend that. A small menudo that barely had 3 pieces of tripe and the hominy was so hard also the broth was more like a sauce. It felt like they should call it stew instead of soup. I def wouldn't recommend that either. And the crispy ground beef tacos LITERALLY had a patty in there. The beef was NOT ground. It was a burger inside a taco the strangest taco I've ever had! The bistec was soooo under seasoned and had ZERO flavor. To be honest other than the fresh tortillas nothing we had was good. I would never return.

Fabulous local owned & run restaurant! The mosaics inside are breathtaking. Great service, hot coffee and fresh made tortillas right out where you can watch. Loved all the interior details. My omelette was packed ( that is rare) and both of the other dishes received rave reviews. Quite a Tucson gem

It was OK. I went before they were closed for a remodel. I got the menudo and it was good, but not great. The place is quaint and has a lot of history in Tucson. The service was just OK. Maybe they were off as I was the only customer there for an early lunch. I'd try them again.

Taco salad with shrimp, green chile tostada

Stopped here after a great hike in Sweetwater Preserve just ten minutes away. Very generous selection of choices! I ordered the taco salad with shrimp - delicious, fresh, and well presented. Shrimp cooked perfectly and delicately butterflied. Franz (?) the host was amazing and checked in on us often along with our gracious waitress. Only thing that was less desirable was the loud echoey dining room. Granted we dined right around lunch so kudos to Mosaic for supporting a popular spot!

The freshly made tortillas are the star--absolutely delicious. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful, but the chorizo and enchiladas were surprisingly bland and lacked flavor. A great setting with standout tortillas, but the main dishes didn't quite deliver.

I've been coming to Teresa's Mosaic Cafe for years, and it has never disappointed. The food always tastes fresh and homemade, and I've consistently had great service every time I visit. I love that you are able to see the tortillas being made from scratch, it really adds to the experience. The restaurant has such a cool vibe, both inside and out which is why I always bring friends and family from out of town here.

Alway's one of my favorite places in Tucson for homemade tortillas and Mole. The food comes out quick but go ahead and pay for the chips and salsa. They are worth it. We always upgrade to a side of Mole. You can't imagine how good the chips and mole are. Or really treat yourself to the Sonoran cheese crisp. The only thing I would never recommend is a frozen margarita. Is this not a thing in Tucson? It was so chunky icy with limited flavors.

After hiking Brown Mountain we decided to eat at Teresa's for breakfast. My eggs enchiladas with mole sauce were delicious. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their breakfast as well. Service was good, felt like we waited awhile to get our check but I was ready to get home after our hike too. We we seated at a window table overlooking the city, very nice.

I had not been there in over a year. Food was good. Service was excellent. Ambiance was nice, bright, clean. I love cheese enchiladas with the cheese hot and melted inside. I did ask for the enchiladas extra hot temp. She said she would let them know. However, when I got it (the cheese inside was barely warmed. . The rest of the meal was perfect. They need to add a little more enchilada sauce to the dish.

I went here recently for breakfast and it was an incredible experience so I talked my wife into going for lunch. We were actually trying to get a late breakfast but we were seated 15 minutes too late after they stopped serving breakfast. I was shocked they wouldn't try to accommodate us but I get it. We both ordered the Bisteca and it took quite awhile to be delivered. Actually, took way too long-probably 30 minutes. When it arrived, the plate was hot but the steak wasn't. It was very flavorful either which was disappointing too since I talked it up from my prior visit. The homemade tortillas were great but the plate just lacked flavor and it was cold. I hate to give 3 stars but we walked away with the feeling of "let's not come back here again" . I would say try this on your own. Maybe we caught them at a bad time.

Was here for early lunch last week and the place was packed! That's a good sign. The Oaxaca style food is fabulous! I got machaca this time and it was delicious. The "hot" salsa isn't hot but it's got good flavor. Def a place I'll return to!

Tamale with enchilada and eggs

What a great experience. We got there before the rush. I had Nopales and chilaquiles with eggs & hubs had tamale , enchilada with eggs. Fresh tortillas right off the comal. Coffee was nice and strong. Definitely a must visit for breakfast. Will have to stop by for dinner soon.

Teresa's Mosaic Cafe is one of the gems in Tucson for Mexican food. I have a good friend who is a menudo snob and she will only have it here and one other place. But truly; you cannot go wrong with any - single - item - on the menu! We came for breakfast/brunch with good friends and we'd been coming for years. I'd been out of the Tucson area so had only heard that this spot burned down but then they remade it. I'm so glad they did!!!! Upon walking in you feel such a clean, cool, feel. The hostess was so pleasant and our server so admirable. I took a recommendation from our server on what to eat, and had the Huevos Rancheros. My friend had menudo as did my partner. And he had huevos divorciados also. If you get a large menudo it comes with the pan. They made chorizo special for my other friend and one ordered a bean burro. The tortillas that came with my huevos were SO GOOD. You can tell they're hechos a mano somewhere, maybe in house, cause they're so darn fresh and DELICIOUS. Mmmmmm. I can't say enough about eating breakfast and brunch here. We've primarily enjoyed that here, but again, regardless of what you order, you'll leave more than satisfied and with a happy belly and face.

Everyone made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were incredible, the carne asada was perfectly cooked, and the enchilada sauce took the entire dish to a whole new world. Every bite was better than the last! This was my first visit, and it's an experience I'll never forget. If you're in Tucson and looking for authentic Mexican food with exceptional service, El Charro Café is a must-visit. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend!

Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, and she made our whole experience feel welcoming from start to finish. The hosts were kind too. There was plenty of seating, a dedicated bar, TVs, and nice lighting. The patio has misters, which is perfect for this time of year. They offer booth and table seating, and the tables aren't packed too close together. With party members who have different mobility challenges, the spacing was great and made everything comfortable. The food was delicious. The complimentary bottomless chips and salsa were fresh and generous. If you order the horchata, it comes with free refills too, which is such a nice touch. My husband ordered 2 birria tacos with caldo and loved them. My father in law ordered 2 ground beef enchiladas with red sauce, and my mother in law ordered 2 plain ground beef tacos. I shared the ceviche with my dad, which was fresh and flavorful, and we each ordered one Quesabirria. It was so good! Dessert was perfect. We tried the flan and the chocolate flan. The chocolate flan was a moist Bundt-style chocolate cake with flan on top. Both were creamy, delicious, and enjoyed by all of us. Great service, great food, and Alexa truly made our first visit special. We'll definitely be back!

Spacious patio area, with cool lights, umbrellas, and many tables. If you have a choice and it isn't too hot, sit outside. The food is stellar! I got their ranch style flat enchilada, which is more or less a thick masa topped with enchilada flavors and spices. So yummy. (And it's vegetarian too!) The rest of the table (3 more) ordered the green chicken enchiladas. They didn't need to rave about it: their plates were completely clean at the end of the meal! We ordered Tamarindo and Horchata drinks between us, and frankly, the Tamarindo is some of the best I've ever had anywhere. Service can be a little slow, especially if they're busy. The restaurant was packed and it was the holidays so it was understandable. We were told to wait at the back of the restaurant which we did. We waited for over an hour and then were told our table was ready, so we got up and followed. Then someone else came up and they both started whispering and then told us that we would not be seated after all. We asked what had happened (was the kitchen too busy?) but were not told anything other than "she told us not to seat you". The secretive whispering made it a very confusing situation. We sat back down and waited some more. Eventually we got seated, but then the food took another hour to come after we ordered. We asked a few times for water refills but eventually gave up when it didn't come. The plus side - the FOOD. The mole sauce was really good, best I've had! The chicken mole was my favorite dish but the beef with chile was also spectacular. Both corn and flour tortillas were so good here. It was really delicious and I would come back for the food, but not for the service.

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
