We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

The shrimp tempura roll has the perfect amount of breading and the salmon tastes fresh! The interior is clean and I love the decor. I believe they have an upstairs seating area too. The staff is also very friendly.

Most importantly is their food especially the chirashi/sushi bento boxes which comes with salad, egg custard, miso soup and small pickled sides. It's pretty filling. The golden broth on the other hand was quite mediocre. There's also free drinks and you get ice cream at the end. I do think the service is a bit slow and they don't clear empty plates often. But there was really only one server that day and she was working hard. Overall: pretty decent value for the price!

My dad never had wagyu before so he especially loved the wagyu but I do think it's expensive for the amount they give you, I can see why it's pricier but just know before you order it's like $45 for 2.5 oz or in our case about 5 thin slices of wagyu. My brother said the tornado omelette was tasty and filling and he enjoyed it. The trio tuna sushi roll was very fresh. As for the service, I think everyone was pleasant but the vibes were a little off, it seems like they were just very exhausted. This doesn't affect the quality of the food or the experience but it was just something I noticed. They were still very attentive and provided great service. The reason for the one star off is because I do wish the Hako sushi had a bit more flavor, I saw so many different ingredients and fish but none of the flavors were impactful, it was rather one dimensional which was disappointing because it was presented so beautifully. Overall, I recommend giving Izakaya nana a try and I would definitely go again to try other things.

A majority of the food received did not look like the photos on the menu. The meat was low quality and seemed cheap. The portions were tiny and you have to keep ordering multiple of the same things. Unlike Korean bbq or Chinese bbq when you're ordering the portions given are just sample size. 3 to 4 small cut portions of meat. The chicken wings served look nothing like the photos and are honestly really bad. When checking out my bill had an extra drink on it that I never ordered and it took 15 mins to be corrected. It felt like they thought I was lying and needed to review video or something because I had 3 other waiters come talk to me while I waited for a resolution. The best part of the experience was the marshmallows we got at the end and the free fruit provided but I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone nor would I want to come back in the future If these are the standards the restaurant goes by

The sushi pieces are well-constructed -- attractive, of a good size and tightly packed; however food-coloring seems to be used in at least one of the rolls. I prefer getting take-out to dining in at New York Food Court; the food court has a strong odor that reminds me of a workplace restroom. Mobile phone signal can be a little spotty inside New York Food Court; plan ahead accordingly. Cash only.
