The winter Alpina setting was super cute and it did not feel like I was eating inside the mall at all. The decor and ambiance is beautiful here. I got the bread as an appetizer and I didn't like that the outside of it was too hard to eat and poked my mouth. However the butter it came with was amazing and flavorful. The server recommended a great main noodle dish. It came with mushroom and linguine and lots of cheese and was really flavorful. It is very expensive here especially for the main course and the quantity is not that much for the price. I made a reservation to try out Terra on a weekend lunch. They're very uptight about the timing and even though we arrived slightly early, they told us the seats would not be ready. I guess it wasn't bad as that gave us a chance to walk around and shop in Eataly. In terms of food, I had the Cavatelli Al Ragu di Terra and Pork Chops. Both dishes were on the expensive end for lunch, but I enjoyed the pork chops a lot. It had a nice wood grill flavor and the meat was very tender and juicy. It was nice that they cut off the meats from the bone as well. The ragu was also good and the al dente pasta was executed well with a nice texture and bite, but I wished that there was a bit more ragu and sauce on my pasta. I would've rated the food at 4/5, but would drop it to a 3.5/5 because the service was bad. The server never came to check on us, and it took a long time to flag her down to get the check, even though it wasn't that busy. They really need to improve their service for a restaurant of this price point. read more

Heads up for parents of toddlers. After putting in our order and setting up our 1.5yo in the high chair, we were told by a gentleman that we were not allowed to feed our son the banana and veggie porridge that we brought from home because no outside food was allowed and that it was a liability. IDK... maybe they wanted us to order him the ribeye?? +1 star to our waitress who seemed much more genuinely apologetic. My fiance, her family, and I stopped in to celebrate her brother's graduation from San Jose State. Appetizers came out fast and they were good but it took a very long time to get the main courses. They gave us a complementary plate of focaccia for the wait. The server said it would be out in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later, it was another 2 minutes, claiming the kitchen was backed up. Considering there were very few people in the restaurant, of which one party was seated, ordered, and completed their meal before we got our food, I'm pretty sure they either lost our orders or just plain forgot about them. I would give this restaurant a solid 3 stars. Came here last evening for a birthday dinner for my mom, and I expected the ambiance to be nice but the food to be meh based on the reviews, and everything met my expectation. Service was friendly though a bit slow at the beginning, but I will say I was a bit disappointed that I wrote we were celebrating a birthday when I made the reservation and nothing came of it. This isn't the most kid-friendly place, since they don't have a kids menu, but there are high chairs and I saw a fair amount of babies/toddlers there. I ordered the spaghetti al pomodoro and it was terrible tbh. I generally like most pasta but the noodles were too overcooked and the sauce was very bland. I tried my husband's ravioli and my mom's cavatelli and they were both better (especially the sausage in the cavatelli) but not great. The insalata estiva was actually really good (little gem lettuce with avocado, charred corn, tomatoes, and pesto), plus the patata frita (fried potatoes, very crispy and went well with the sauce). I got the Rossini's kiss cocktail (vodka base with fruity stuff)--it was alright, tasted pretty sweet though my mom didn't think it was too sweet. The tiramisu was a cute experience since they unwrap it and it spills over or something lol, and it was pretty good. I would not come back to this place on my own accord but it is a nice ambiance and the sides were good. read more

Tagliatelle, gnocchi and chicken spiedini were also enjoyed at our table. The food is still great, but also still overpriced. Service for us was dismal - slow service for everything, even after flagging down our waiter multiple times. He also forgot our bread but didn't charge us in the end (yes, they charge for bread). Frittelle for dessert was delicious - airy donuts with some kind of custard. Don't bother with their chocolate fondue. The tealight under the runny chocolate wasn't lit. The two ramekins that had strawberries (cut very small) and cookies weren't even filled to the rim. Ridiculous. If not for the most of the food, I would give Terra 2 stars. read more

A rather fancy restaurant in Eataly that is very beautifully decorated and has a nice, Italian cafe ambiance. The food is pretty good, but is accompanied by a high price tag. We got the Cavatelli Al Ragu Di Terra, which was very flavourful and meat as well seasoned. The pasta by itself was a bit bland, but the meat helped elevate the flavours. True to its nature the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. We also got the Tonnarelli Nerj Allastice (squid ink lobster). The lobster flavours help add to the flavours of the pasta, but it we honestly felt that there was a disjoint of flavours between the lobster and the pasta. Besides the pasta dishes, I would recommend the lamb abruzzese skewers. They were extremely juicy and delicious, and goes very well with some salt and lemon flavours. As mentioned above, the restauarant is a bit pricy though, considering the dishes and portion sizes. read more

Went here for a company dinner with about 10 people or so. The staff was accommodating and made the experience pleasant. The restaurant is very spacious and has that indoor/outdoor vibe. We did make reservations prior. For me entree i had the branzino with a salad and grilled cauliflower on the side. This was a no carb meal for me and it was great and filling. The meat dishes and stick kabobs were nicely cooked over the charbroiled flame. All in all everyone told me that they were very pleased with their meals and experience at Terra. We had a few desserts to cap of the night starting with a tiramisu and some other custard thing in a cup. Give them a try! read more

The spring menu just kicked off and the lemon ricotta ravioli was new on the menu. It was delicious! We also ordered some rustic bread which came out thick-cut, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, with soft butter and sea salt flakes which made it taste even better! We ordered one salad and they brought the incorrect salad out, but we were just going to eat it because it looked good so we didn't say anything. A few minutes later they came out with the correct one and told us to enjoy both (one being complimentary), I thought that was great service to correct their mistake without prompting. Both salads were fresh and good sized. The cocktails were pretty and tasted great as well, I think I had the whiskey sour and the purple one was a vodka drink. I recently visited Terra with friends, one of whom had a young child. The restaurant is located inside a grocery store, but unfortunately, that convenience didn't translate to a good dining experience. At no point were we informed there wasn't a children's menu, which would have been helpful from the start. When we tried to purchase something from the store to feed the child, the staff's handling of the situation was surprisingly unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of offering solutions or making the process easier, their approach made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. This lack of communication and hospitality was disappointing, especially in a family dining scenario where a little flexibility and courtesy go a long way. At the very least, a conversation that wasn't so patronizing and disrespectful would have been appreciated, considering we weren't provided options to feed our young child and were simply trying to find a solution to a dilemma they weren't willing to resolve. We should have done our research beforehand and recognize this wasn't a good fit for our party, but we were simply going about our day, seen a restaurant, and didn't think feeding a child would be such a serious point of contention. Terra may have potential, but based on our experience, their customer service and attentiveness to guests' needs--particularly families--needs serious improvement. read more

This was the worst experience ever. We were told that because we had a large party we had to order 75 dollars each in food other wise they would just charge us 75 to make up the difference!! The times we've dined here, the food and service have been pretty good. But those are the times we were able to dine here, which have been like 60-70% of the time we've attempted. Every time we've come, with or without a reservation, we were made to wait for a table. We made reservations for an early dinner (4:45pm) and came at 4:30pm. Looking inside, most tables were empty. Yet, they said we had to wait. I walked over to La Pizza La Pasta and they had more patrons, yet they could seat us right away even without a reservation. By 4:45pm, we were still waiting for Terra to seat us. So we cancelled the reservation and went to La Pizza La Pasta. My husband remarked that Terra always just feels "weird" or "off." He has observed that people don't really seem to know what they're doing or different people pop up out of nowhere and don't know what's going on. There were 3 different people manning the front table of Terra the last time we came and just stood there, staring at the computer screen. My interpretation of it is that Terra thinks of itself a little too highly and acts pretentious so they force us to wait until our reservation time or after the time to exhibit this idea that they're busy and cannot accommodate. Either way, it's a turn off and we tend to find other places to eat when we're at VF mall now. read more

While hanging out at Valley Fair, I asked what food my friend wanted for lunch. To my surprise, she chose Italian. Terra at Eataly was one of the only Italian options in the mall, and I wouldn't recommend it or come again. To start, Eataly is an incredible experience. A three-story Italian market with food and drinks galore. The restaurant is on the third floor and a bit hidden on the side. Check-in with the hostess at the front and wait to be seated. We chose to sit at their indoor high tops, which were not my favorite. Situated directly by their moving doors, there was constant movement and sun in our eyes. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and super chic, with lots of greenery and a nice view from the patio. The only highlight was service; our waiter was kind, accommodating, and friendly. Pasta is typically my go-to for Italian food. I had the Spaghetti Al Pomodoro E Burrata Affumicata (with burrata on the side). This was the most basic spaghetti. It lacked flavor, the portion was so small, and the only good thing was the pasta texture. For this being almost $30, I told my friend I make better spaghetti at home. She had the Avocado Toast. I had a bite, and a lot was happening, but also not. There were minimal avocados, and the dish seemed messy and not the best. For paying a high food price, Terra's quality, portions, and taste are all lacking. For those visiting Eataly and shopping in Valley Fair, pass on Terra. There are many better restaurants at the mall. I'd say this is a place more for the vibe than the food. If you do dine here, parking is easy with the mall's free two-hour parking. read more

A great Italian restaurant I went to was @terra.siliconvalley. All of the food was delicious but on the more expensive side for Italian. For bread, we ordered the Focaccia Barese and Otto (not pictured). All the bread is homemade and the focaccia bread is to-die-for! For appetizers, we got the Prosciutto Crudo, Mozzarella E Olive and the Insalata Verde. The salad has a light white balsamic dressing with mixed lettuce, watermelon radish, jumbo carrots, and herbs. We love that salad and we order it every time we go! For our dinner, we ordered the Fornello Pugliese for two (essentially a large meat platter with an Italian essence), the Spaghetto Al Pomodoro E Burrata Affumicata, the Cavatelli Al Ragù Di Terra, the Papardelle Al Funghi, and the Tagliatelle Alla Norcina. The top two pastas were the first two shown as the spaghetti was so authentic and the cavatelli with the coal-fired beef and pork ragu was amazing. We had many different desserts there and you can find a wide variety to select from downstairs on the first floor. However, a hidden gem was the gelato made from Stratus Family Creamery. It was brought out on a cart served with three scoops of the 100% Organic Milk Gelato topped with Amarena (wild cherries), Pistachios, Gocce Di Cioccolato (chocolate chips), Cioccolata (house made chocolate sauce), and Olive Oil. The way everything was done, displayed, and then tasted was so yummy and something everyone must try. Made a reservation for Mother's Day Brunch, reservation said Brunch, website advertised a brunch menu. We then arrive and are seated only to be told that there is no brunch menu and it was changed to only lunch. We were there at 10am and the lunch menu was significantly more expensive than their posted brunch menu ($20 avocado toast vs $85 rib eye). We were not the only people shocked by this switch up. A family next to us left after being told there was no brunch and every table near us was shocked upon seeing the menu and being told there was no brunch menu ON MOTHERS DAY!! To advertise a special menu for Mother's Day and to not even have brunch when the menu is posted on line! I felt terrible for our server who obviously didn't make the decision but had to deal with every family's disappointment at the lack of brunch options and really no kid friendly options either. We ended up going for a pasta that was served table side and it was a bit ridiculous. Having heard raves about Eataly and their restaurant Terra, I was excited to check it out. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype - or the prices. We went for an early Saturday dinner. The patio seating was nice with lots of plants, but they said they couldn't adjust the umbrellas, so we had the hot sun bothering some in our party, who kept shifting their chairs trying to avoid it. The food was good, but not great. Just average. I had a pork chop with a prune reduction ($42). The pork chop was thick but otherwise, it was just fine. Not as flavorful as I expected. It came with 4 tine pieces of endive lettuce. One in our group had the strip steak ($49), which they said was great. Another had the tagliatelle ($33) which they said was a disappointment, just a pile of pasta, but nothing special. Another had the chicken skewers ($34) which was good. For dessert, we had gelato, which is served up tableside, with a good variety of topping. In addition to the usual toppings like nuts, chocolate chips, and cherries, they had Japanese whiskey, limoncello, and some other liquors. Aside from the tableside gelato, the service was terrible. We were greeted with the usual "I'm so and so, and I'll be your server" who took our order, and we never saw her again. Someone else brought our food. Eventually, we flagged down someone and asked them for gelato and to clear our dirty plates. They took a couple of plates, but left the rest, so we piled them up on one end of the table. Despite the lousy service, when someone brought the bill, they said "Don't worry about the tip. We already added it." WTF?? Then that's not a tip, it's a fee the restaurant added on. Not cool. In our group, we had four adults, and two children. We had two apps, dinner, cocktails, and gelato, and the the bill came to $663, so $100+ per person. Definitely one of the nicer environments when it comes to outdoor sitting. The food is light and they have a variety of grill meats, pasta, and vegetable dishes. Price is moderately high (what isn't nowadays) but the food quality, service, and environment make up for it. Occasionally they'd have some promotion where you can get some set dishes for reasonable price (check their website). Lastly, if there's only one thing you are ordering, it is the tiramisu. This was my first time here at Terra. We were seated outside and it was a very nice upscale seating area. In the night, the lights and the greenery really stand out. We ordered a salad it had some pistachio pesto dressing with beets that was delicious. We also ordered the bolognese which was a fan favorite on our table. We had the truffle gnocchi as well and the presentation and the taste was something we did not expect at all. It was shockingly really good. The butternut squash ravioli was my personal favorite as the flavors complemented each other and still was a light but filling meal. The waiters were super sweet and personable. They were talkative and were attentive to any questions or concerns we had. It did take a while for the food to come out, but the waiter was super apologetic to us. We came after seeing a TikTok about the Tiramisu Pancakes, and we were disappointed. The service was really good and they were friendly, so we were really excited for the food. I ordered a latte, pictured in the video below. You can kind of see for yourself, but the latte was mostly milk and only tasted like a hint of coffee. The Uova Benettine was an eggs Benedict on croissant. Based on the description in the menu, I was expecting an eggs Benedict on an actual croissant, but the croissant reminded me of a Jimmy Dean Croissant. It is not worth the $25 in my opinion, when I can just get a Jimmy Dean Croissant and add a runny egg on it. The Tiramisu Pancake was a nice concept, with them pouring the coffee syrup in front of you to feel the novelty. But after we cut into it, I couldn't help but feel like it was a bit gimmicky. It looks aesthetic on the outside, but the coffee syrup did not penetrate to the inside, and there was nothing tiramisu in between the layers except for some cream. Overall, the pancake only had a tiramisu flavor at the top and was dry and plain throughout. This was also not worth $21. read more

Hey there Party People, Was enjoying a stroll and some shopping decided to treat ourselves to an indulgent luncheon. The day was beautiful the weather mild and the food spectacular. Starting with the prosciutto & mozzarella plate with the most amazing Italian sourdough bread We each had a pasta dish for lunch. Hubby had the Spinach pappardelle with a mushroom sauce. The noodles were cooked perfectly the sauce was very herbaceous. I had the tagliatelle with Sausage sauce. Once again a perfectly cooked noodle. The sausage was packed with flavor and a very mild spice that just kept you going back for more. But who goes to an indulgent meal and doesn't get dessert....not us. We had The Terra a hazelnut Bavarian cream with a chocolate devils cake with chocolate bark and crushed pistachios. This was truly a to die for dessert.
