my family and i had dinner here the other night - the wine selection is lovely. The atmosphere is also fantastic (especially the back enclosed patio which is really great at night). This place is in a strip mall and looks quite dull from outside and i was pleasantly surprised once we went inside. i had great service, a nice meal, good wine and a very enjoyable night. Valentines day 2018 was a miserable experience here. Food was horrific, service was mediocre at best, waiter had attitude. He never came back to ask how everything was after we received our food. Told him how bad it was at the end, he went back and told the chef, big deal, did not offer any other retribution. Will not be back, Side note, I called the next day to talk to the manager and was rudely talked to, saying it was too busy, and was promptly hung up on. The decor is lovely-especially the ironwork and sculptures and the wine by the glass (or bottle) is not too long and not too short for many choices from around the world. Such a neighborhood gem - you'd never think to go without a recommendation. It's tucked into a ho-hum looking shopping center with a less than idyllic store front, but has the cutest inside and best outdoor patio/garden! Lunch Review: I had been eager I try Brookhaven's hidden gem. The food was incredible, atmosphere will make you forget that restaurant located next to Rite Aid in a strip mall. Duck burger was absolutely incredible. Service left something to be desired (refill my water please!) and the space was uncomfortably cold. I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it based on the reviews and pictures. We drove past the place twice because I didn't expect Terra Terroir to be located next to a nail salon and a McDonalds in a divey strip mall. The location is bizzar and nearly prompted us to ditch our reservation and go elsewhere. We are really glad that we didn't. The service was attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Our waiter was useful at helpful and suggested food choices that would pair well with our wine choices. My friend who accompanied me had the special which was a cod dish. It was perfectly cooked and very flavourful. I had the steak frites. The steak was cooked as ordered, but the cut of meat was not the best. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée which was amazing. Don't let the location dissuade you from visiting Terra Terrior. It is located in a tired strip center between a Rite Aid and a hair/nail salon, and may give first time visitors a brief pause. But once you walk inside you will be very pleasantly surprised by the decor and the staff attentiveness. Even more impressive is the beautiful outdoor patio to dine on. Yes, that's right - An outdoor patio at the back of the restaurant & strip center. Sounds crazy, but this is one where you have to see to believe. Great atmosphere. Shared the filet mignon sliders and the see bass with a few glasses of wine. The sea bass was the best part - very flavorful dish, vegetables and potatoes. The filet mignon sliders were a little tough, so there were a bit of a disappointment. The worst part of the experience was one couple that allowed their 4 or 5 year old daughter to get up from the table and walk around the patio. I finally tried this place after wanting to try it for over a year, and I wasn't disappointed. You wouldn't think much of it from the front, in the middle of a half-abandoned strip mall, but when you walk inside, you are transported to somewhat of an urban paradise, especially if you are able to get a seat outside on the covered patio strung with lights and a fireplace for those cooler nights. The wine list is exceptional and the food was perfect. I had the Sea Bass, which was superb and melt-in-your-mouth flaky perfection. My boyfriend had the pork medallions, which were equally as good and paired well with the wine we had. After dinner and a bottle of wine, we decided to stay and have another drink at the newly-added bar in the back near the patio. You will find the General Manager hanging out and talking to his guests on a Saturday night. I definitely recommend this as a great date-night spot! read more

This place was a very nice surprise... so close to home in Brookhaven. It's in a strip mall , so the outside in no way let's you lead to expect what's inside. Wr started on the beautiful patio with plants, chandeliers , and cafe tables with white linen , but it was a bit too warm, so we moved inside. We were sat directly across from the chefs grill , which was fine and entertaining. He was pleasant and smiled at us several times. The wine list is extensive and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I chose to first have a Lemon drop martini and this was the only disappointment... it was served in a martini glass half full. It tasted yummy, ( just like any lemon drop) but literally I could have finished it in one gulp. I would have questioned serving something like that. We started with some bread ;it was Ciabatta. It was okay. I wish there was more of a selection; I would have loved a couple bites of fresh baguette and butter. I had the scallops $34, and my friend had the swordfish... $24. Both were cooked perfectly to retain the juiciness and flavor. I loved the purple mashed potatoes ( to die for), and pea pods too. It is 4 large scallops, and I was able to take one home with a bite of potato and peas. Yuhhhum at 8am. I did have to ask for salt , another wait , but I just love a dash of salt ( good salt ). I don't understand why some restaurants don't place on the table.its not an insult. The service was very hospitable, but we had to request them a few times, because they were a bit too busy to check on us. We had an additional glass of wine - I chose the Rose from Provence. It was perfect...fruity and dry and so very delicious. I wish we could have tried more items, like a salad or a side, but it would have been too much food. We recently had a social event at Terra Terroir with a local CPA group. The food (we were able to order) was good and the setting was comfortable. When scheduling this event it became the most difficult experience I have had when setting up a meeting at a restaurant. We were looking for heavy appetizers for the group. We ordered some of their appetizers/small plates and I was asking for a few of the entrees where the dishes could be split amongst our members. The dishes we were looking to split were pasta, chicken, and hamburgers. The management would not accomodate us and it got to the point where I mentioned that we're the customer and they still refused. I was at the point where I was going to cancel except our event was days away. We ended up; with some salads and Avacado Lobster toast. We spent $1,400 for 15 people. The food we did get was good although the experience in getting this arranged was extremely difficult. read more

Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. Ordered the tuna steak with some apprehension about treating myself to a $30 meal but it delivered! There was a wasabi mousse on the side that was sooo delicious. The tuna was some of the best, and as a pescatarian, I have tried a lot! Had great expectations because of all the reviews but this place sucked. We weren't greeted as expected we were questioned if we had reservations wen the place was empty. Made no sense the waitress took forever to greet us also. I also felt as if the host an elderly man was a bit racist we were leaving and he didn't even thank us for coming in as I would expect. Three words come to mind: shrimp and grits, shrimp and grits, shrimp and grits!! Absolutely delicious!! If you know me I always gravitate to shrimp and grits if I see them on a menu, and these did not disappoint. They are by far the best shrimp and grits I have had in a long time. I went here for the first time with two friends. We had a reservation which I made through OpenTable. (Side note, reservations are usually good to make wherever you go if you are able to make them). I arrived first and was given the option of waiting at the bar or to go ahead and sit at the table. I opted for the bar. It was very cozy and adjacent to the patio. It was very warm, so I migrated back to the front of the restaurant to wait for my friends. I am typically hot natured, so I am not sure if the temperature of the bar area was the usual or just me. My friends arrived shortly after and we asked if we could sit on the patio. We were able to which was awesome. While there were only three of us, they sat us at a large round table which I thought was pretty cool. We all enjoyed our dinners. We did have to send one plate back for the steak to be cooked a tad bit longer. The waiter was extremely apologetic and promptly took it back and brought it back out after having cooked a little bit longer - no questions asked. The outdoor patio was very pretty with a nice and chill atmosphere. The inside had a similar feel although it was, wait for it, inside as opposed to being outside on the patio. If you are in the Brookhaven area and are looking for a place to eat, you should definitely come here: great food, atmosphere and a variety of small plates, large plates, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks to choose!! I went to This Is It November 2, 2020 They opens at 11 o'clock, Someone finally came and open the door 11:08 . There were two people serving on the line and I asked the if they had more green vegetables other than the collards, her response was what you see is what we have in a very nasty tone. Without much to choose from I ordered the broccoli rice casserole fried okra and dressing. The dressing tasted like someone baked corn bread poured broth on top of it to soften it and that was it, it was terrible the broccoli rice casserole I'll give it a four out of 10, the okra I'll give it a four out of 10. My husband and I ate here a few weeks back for the first time. We sat on the beautiful patio and wanted to enjoy more of the view so we asked for a booth near the servers desk/podium. Our server James was more than willing to reseat us but the guy at the podium made a point of interjecting while we were being reseated saying "Just so you know you won't always get such a nice seat or be able to change seating". That comment was off putting but we were just glad he wasn't our server and James was. James was great he talked and talked with us about his recent move to Atlanta and how he's enjoying the city every morning by jogging all over Atlanta. The food was excellent. I had the trout. slightly disappointed with this place, I had high hopes after reading the reviews. I live around the corner in Brookhaven and was hoping this would be a cool neighborhood place for good food and drinks but I probably won't come back. I had the shrimp & grits which were average, my bf had the Montana meatloaf which was bland. I feel like the prices are high for what you get on your plate. Also shared a lobster macaroni & cheese which I was also disappointed in.. hardly any lobster and if there was it was overpowered by all the cheddar. it was also a bit dry. Service was good other than I felt our server, Carl changed his tune after he couldn't sell us on ordering the over priced wine pairings.. hardly talked to us or smiled after taking our order. we were in and out as quick as possible after we realized the food wasn't that great after all. I did like the back patio area, it was very romantic and seemed great for a first date. I just feel like there are better places to go in the area for the same price. read more

I kind of stumbled on this place, and it might not look like much from the outside and is easy to miss, but it is a little hidden gem. I took my wife here before dinner for drinks and we were really impressed by the bartender, the menu, the kind greeting, and the setting. We headed out to dinner at a place that was packed, but the manager came and told us she wanted to close the kitchen after being there for five minutes so we just closed out with drinks and came back. Terra was less busy and were much closer to closing, but were so accommodating and nice. They took us in and the service was impeccable. We only ordered some quick apps and drinks to not keep the kitchen or staff there all night, but the 4 small plates we had were all delicious. This is one of the only places I have found that you can get risotto balls (Arancini), and I look forward to visiting again and trying more food. I can't say enough about the greeting, the staff, the service. A+. read more

I practically pass this restaurant everyday but never thought to try it...I guess because it was next to rite aid and Steinmart it just seemed odd. Out of the blue my husband made reservations at this place for Valentine's Day which I was surprised he didn't choose any of our favorite restaurants. Well kudos for him because the food is delicious! The service wasn't great but keep in mind it was Valentine's day so the severs were just very busy. Like I said food was very tasty but some things really bothered me. As an appetizers we ordered a a shrimp dish, one for each of us. Oddly my plate came out cold and shrimp over cooked. My husbands plate came out warm and shrimp cooked fine. No one came to check on the appetizers and since we were really hungry my husband ended up giving me his perfect plate and ate my less than perfect plate...he's good like that. Anytime I don't enjoy my dish he gives me his meal if I like his and eats the dish i don't like. .no judgements I don't ask for it, he always insists! Lol I'm no brat. 1st course got the kale salad which had a creamy light dressing and "pimento croutons " which were basically breaded pimento chunks fried. Awesome idea but the "croutons" would of been better warm rather than cold like it came with the salad. The Kale was fresh and the dressing was perfect. As an entree both my husband and I ordered Prime rib. Our plates came out with a huge piece of meat cooked just the way we like it, medium rare. But again it was cold! What was the deal with cold food in this restaurant. Also tell baked potato came out with absolutely nothing on it, not even butter. Luckily with this course the server actually came to check how was the food and we told him the problem and he was happy to fix it. Once the warm meat with the proper fixins for the bake potato came out we were happy campers. Seriously that prime rib was so good! Dessert we got the flour less chocolate cake topped with chocolate covered strawberry and vanilla ice cream - It was fine but nothing special. We need to come back again on a regular day, hopefully the next time the service will be better. read more

The best ever! We go here when we are in town. Awhile back we had reservations for our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Atlas. Service was horrible! Left after they brought the wrong appetizer. This is that little known place in the heart of Brookhaven across from the MARTA station and next door to what-used-to-be Harris Teeter and formerly known as Terra Grille (name changed a while back though I don't know why). Anyway, great dining experience and you'd never know you were in a strip mall with the hustle and bustle of Peachtree Street just outside the front door. Staff was friendly and helpful. We called ahead and were seated in less than one minute on the patio out back. Extensive wine menu though we were disappointed in the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that was their special. I'm a huge fan of Oregon Pinots (second only to the Central Otago Pinots on the south island of New Zealand just outside Queenstown) but this one was off and fortunately we were offered a sample and didn't order the entire bottle. I ordered the Chipotle Shrimp and Grits and came close to asking them to substitute the garlic mashed potatoes for the grits (those seem to be their specialty since they were offered with every other menu item) because I'm not a fan of the coarsely ground corn. I think I was culturally displaced at birth because I don't like things that true/typical southerners enjoy - grits being one of them. Anyway, they were actually pretty good and the shrimp was perfection! I can't compare this "version" to the original Terra Grille but for whatever reason they changed the name, the food is good and worth trying! read more

We had 11 in our group for a birthday dinner. The setting was perfect, the service was prompt and accurate, and the food was delicious. Four people had the grilled sea bass and raved about its freshness and salsa-like accompaniment. Several of us had the lamb cassoulet that bursted with flavor and a balsamic sauce. Bread pudding dessert was a hit as well as the classic chocolate lava cake. Wow! This place is tucked away in a dumpy little strip mall, but it is a fantastic restaurant. We had the bacon wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese to start; they were a nice sweet-savory combo. Both the mussels and the steak for our main course were excellent. The sauce with the mussels was a spicy tomato-based sauce with just the right amount of heat. They also have a large selection of desserts that all sounded wonderful. We had cappuccinos, which were served with several extras to add if desired: chocolate, cinnamon, sugar, and black licorice jelly beans. I would never have guessed how well black licorice pairs with cappuccino! A fun and interesting evening. read more

Went to Terra Terroir for the frist time this week. It was a nice spring evening and not to cold so my party decided to sit on the patio. Wow the back patio is so surprising. It is like a secret garden back there. I highly recommend going here when the weather is nice and you can relax there outside. Well onto the food, I tried the rosemary chicken, and it was very tender with a great amount of rosemary-I hate when things are overdone, but this was perfect. With this I got a great Pinot Noir, cant remember the name but our server suggested it and it was spot on. Everyone in the group had a great meal from the fish to an entree salad, which I happened to sample and wish I could sneak in the kitchen to see how they made the dressing. After our meal we decided to go with an espresso and some dessert. The Rasberry Nectarine Cobbler Crisp was excellent, and (I dont say this too often) something I have never had before. The flavors blended so well and was topped with some yummy ice cream. Our bread pudding was also good, but couldnt hold a candle to the cobbler, which I quickly moved to my side of the talbe and protected with my spare fork. The only downside was unfortunatly the espresso, now you know I am a coffe snob and this was over extracted and bitter, but hey its a restaurant and is hard to get a good espresso when the machines makes it without a barista. All in all a great experience and am already planning my trip back! read more
