Great Texas BBQ Experience Near the Museums This was our first time trying Terry Black's BBQ, and someone recommended it to us because it's conveniently located near the museums. We were really craving Texas beef ribs and brisket, so we decided to give it a try. We were told that the beef ribs, brisket, and sausage are must-tries, and honestly, we were very happy with our meal. The BBQ had great flavor, and the portions were huge! It was definitely a lot of food for us, but we were happy to try everything. I know there are other BBQ spots that are considered some of the top places in Texas, but we also heard about the long lines and parking challenges. One thing I really liked about Terry Black's is how convenient it was for us to walk there from the museum. When we arrived, it wasn't too crowded, which was perfect. Funny enough, just a few minutes after we sat down, a big crowd suddenly came in! The interior has a nice BBQ atmosphere, and the hospitality was wonderful. It's not the cheapest BBQ, but considering the generous portions and the overall experience, I think it's worth trying. For our first Texas BBQ experience, we had a great dinner. Definitely satisfied our craving for beef ribs and brisket! I also noticed a lot of customers, including people like us, had these happy, excited faces when their food arrived. You could tell some of them were trying those huge Texas beef ribs for the first time, and honestly, I think we had the same reaction! The beef ribs are definitely something you have to see in person.

Food - the sides were the star of the show! Especially the rice and the green beans, which were bith delicious. The potato salad was "okay". The brisket was anlittlw dry, which was VERY disappointing. The turkey was fine, the ribs had too much black pepper in the rub, otherwise they were pretty good Service - great! Ambiance - very cool atmosphere....like being at a family BBQ.

This is Terry Black's - what more can be said? The service is prompt, helpful, and friendly, as always. July 2026 visit - brisket was perfectly smoked and flavorful. Turkey was moist and seasoned just right. Coleslaw and green beans were fresh, vibrant, and not too heavy on either of their flavor profiles. They balanced out the meal as needed. Loved, loved my experience here and would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting genuine Texas barbecue done right.

Came back for a second time... and the food just didn't hit as much as it did last time. Mostly the brisket. The ribs were fantastic. Brisket was dry. They gave me three end pieces and all were as hard as a rock... even the fatty piece I got, the non fat parts were dry

I was not impressed by the alcoholic beverages, especially the black margarita. It was really watery, heavy on the alcohol and not mixed well. The black color was also not appealing. Service and food however were phenomenal. It's very organized. Very casual and busy restaurant. Highly recommend the brisket, Mac n cheese and banana pudding.

Our favorite bbq in the ~world~ by far. We loved the brisket burnt ends and giant beef rib and all the sides! Mac n cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, and the pickles and pickled onions are delish. The brisket was so fresh it was unbelievably tender and flavorful and g u s h i n g juices. The service was great and so friendly too. Can't wait to come back!!

I'd say this place was absolutely delicious!!! Only didn't give 5 stars due to price but bbq these days is expensive. We tried the green beans which were great, the potato salad, Mac and cheese and all were good! The staff was friendly. Ambiance was what you'd expect for a bbq joint. Clean and comfortable. The bbq beef rib was super good, and the ribs were delicious as was the jalapeno cheddar sausage. Go check it out!

This is the best barbecue in Texas. I love this location, it's cozy, comfortable, and it feels a bit more upscale while still casual. It gives a vibe as if it were a barbecue version of a winery. The food is insane, it's the best barbecue that I've ever had. We have tried everything except for the turkey there, and nothing has disappointed. The service is great, everyone there is friendly.

I was visiting my fam in Texas. I love barbecue and Terry Black's had always received the best ratings. Now, I know why! Hands down, this was the best barbecue that I've ever had! I went for lunch on a Tuesday and avoided all the long lines. The gentleman behind the counter asked a few questions about my BBQ preferences and began slicing and preparing my amazing lunch plate! I'm sorry, that I didn't capture your name. I appreciate you and you deserved proper recognition. The BBQ was absolutely amazing! I enjoyed Brisket, Spare Ribs and Coleslaw. Everything was absolutely amazing!

Always a fav bbq spot of ours. The brisket is always good. The beef bone is even juicier and fattier. The cream corn is my fav side dish. The Mac and cheese was very good today too. Last time is was a bit dry. Today it was perfect cheese consistency. Everyone in the group enjoyed their bbq. I just wish the pickles/onions/jalapeños could be self serve like at other bbq joints. They are quite stingy on the pickles/onions and jalapeños priced per piece. The bbq sauces are very good. I love the sweet one. It's like a honey mustard base I think.

First time at Terry Black's, and it did not disappoint. This was our first stop upon arrival and I don't know if it was the hunger or just how good the food was, but everything was fire. There was a line, but it moved quickly, and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside. We ordered a little bit of everything to share between three people, which came out to $120+, but it was worth it. FOOD REVIEW Brisket (fatty) - 5/5 Juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor. Beef Ribs - 4/5 Not usually my go-to, but the kids really enjoyed them. Jalapeño Sausage - 5/5 A must-try. The flavors came together perfectly--so good and it wad mid-spicy. Mac & Cheese - 4/5 Not my personal favorite, but again, the kids liked it. Cream Corn - 5/5 So good we had to get seconds. Green Beans - 5/5 Really good! Potato Salad - 5/5 Really good! Banana Pudding - 5/5 Another one we went back for, definitely worth it. Cornbread It's in the photo, but we didn't get to try it... the dog beat us to it. The staff was amazing, and even the other patrons dining in were super friendly. I'll definitely be back and next time, I'm taking a frozen brisket home with me. Thank you, Terry Black's, James, and Dakota for an amazing Texas BBQ experience.

Today was an absolute horrible experience from the time we entered the Restaurant until we walked out. We started off by ordering sides and the lady was absolutely rude. I mean disrespectful in every way. We asked if they had baked potatoes. Response was do you see baked potatoes. When we got over to order the meat, we set our tray down so we could read the meat offerings. The lady taking the order "demanded" we move our trays to the other side. Frustrated I explained we couldn't see the menu and therefore couldn't order the meats. The whole experience was handled poorly. When talking with "the Manager" he could tell we were upset by how we were treated and went in defense mode. We left immediately. Terry blacks may have good BBQ but the Fort Worth location has a major customer service problem. No smiles. No warm greetings. Not one friendly person except from the guy outside by the Grills. We drove here From Rhome Texas...good news is Hurtados is right around the corner.

Turkey, Brisket, coleslaw, Green beans, avocado and peppers.

Worth every minute of the wait. This one's climbing my top 50 list faster than a brisket disappears at a family reunion. After one failed mission to Sabar BBQ, where I showed up too late and found an empty pit (and an emptier stomach), I came back like a man on a barbecue pilgrimage. The sun was blazing, the line was growing, and I wasn't about to be left holding nothing but a napkin this time. Pitmaster Zain Shafi runs this blue trailer like a flavor command center. The smell hit me halfway through the line and had me grinning like a kid at the state fair. I made my move when it was my turn, and if you know me, you know lamb is my kryptonite. I ordered the Sichuan Lamb Ribs, then couldn't stop myself from adding brisket and Tandoori Turkey. The sides? Kachumber Salad and Daal Chawaal, because even Uncle Sean needs balance in life. Zain loaded everything up, tossed it all on top of some naan for good measure, and sent me to my table like a champion headed to the winner's circle. The first bite of lamb ribs nearly had me proposing to the pit. Spicy, tender, smoky perfection with a bark that made my heart sing. The brisket was rich and juicy, the turkey came with that tandoori kick that slapped me awake in the best way possible. The sauces just tied the whole thing together like a big barbecue hug. The yogurt mint cilantro sauce was made to cool and lift the brisket and turkey to a whole new level. The red sauce packed a punch and paired with the lamb like it was born for the job. I boxed up some leftovers for my wife, the Side Dish Queen herself, because a man who doesn't bring home naan from Sabar BBQ is a man sleeping on the couch. She confirmed what I already knew: this was next-level barbecue, the kind that earns legends and long lines. Sabar BBQ is only open on weekends, and only fools show up late. I won't make that mistake again. This was stop number 15 on my Texas Monthly Top 50 journey, leaving me with 35 more glorious BBQ pilgrimages ahead before the passport is full and my belt officially waves the white flag. If loving these lamb ribs is wrong, I don't wanna be rib-right.

With a bit more seasoning and flavor, the sides could be the hit of the location, and this I think will come with time and practice. Brisket was on the dry side, maybe overcooked, and could have used some better trimming before cooking I think. Did not try sausages or chicken, but both looked appetizing. They are still dialing in their pits is my guess, and expect cook quality to improve with a time. Quality of meat may also be worth considering.
