I Love Teuscher chocolates, so I ordered a box of Truffles online. The main website directed me to the location closest to me, San Francisco. I ordered on February 18 and they charged my card immediately, but as of March 4 my order still shows "processing." Per the website I can't cancel my order and get a refund because my order is being processed. Right. I left a voicemail and have sent two emails via the "contact us" firm on the website and have received no response. Using the contact form on the website actually resulted in a bounced back email on my laptop, so I used my phone. No idea if anyone has seen or will ever see my message. Pretty darn good chocolate but as the listing and other have mentioned it is quite pricey. The sell chocolate here by weight. I made the cardinal sin of not consulting Yelp reviews so I didn't get the champagne truffle so that will have to wait for another time. I DID get: Walnut Gianduja- Hazelnut butter topped with a halve walnut dipped in milk chocolate Zebra Gianduja- Hazelnut butter mixed with milk , white and dark chocolate. The Zebra Giandjuja was absolutely excellent and I even made a second order after trying it. This item does sell out occasionally as I found out on a return visit . Also got some milk and white chocolate but it was just ok and not anything I'd go out of my way to get . These have many different molds of milk and white chocolate. Who doesn't love Chocolate and Ice Cream? (If you're raising your hand you can stop here ) I like making lists what can I say. Since I was a big fan of the location in Palo Alto, you would think that I'd be a big fan of this one, right? Wro....... just kidding. You're right. I always knew there was a branch in the city, but never knew where. I always thought it was in the mall or something. Well, to my utter delight, it was located right across the street to the hotel we stayed at (Hotel Triton). Since the PA location closed, I already knew before the weekend was over, I was going to stop by to bring something back to San Jose. Well, 3 days pass and just as I'm about to walk to the car, I remembered I needed to make a quick stop. I walked in and the 1 flavor I had to get....... wasn't there. (Sad face) But, while the Milk Buttercrunch is my favorite, I have many "other" favorites. Since I have too many, I'll just let you look at the pictures to see. How can you NOT enjoy good chocolate (esp. the ones that aren't headache inducing). Can I even trust you if you don't?! HAH. Teuscher window fronts are always so eye catching and beautiful with their old-school, nostalgic feel and vibrant colors. I remember the first time I saw them was back when I was a teenager on a family trip to the east coast and my first time in NYC. The window front amazed my parents and me, and we knew that they were very expensive chocolates. I'm not sure if I knew exactly how much they'd cost, but either way, the store at the time was closed I believe, so we just took photos. On a random Monday that I took off from work (I was sick over the weekend and ended up walking around a bit around town), I decided to back track a bit and finally step into this chocolate shop and try (aka buy) some chocolates. My justification was that a few sweets would...sweeten my day and boost my mood a bit, haha, because why not, as long as you're not gorging yourself with this stuff. I didn't plan on buying much at all, knowing how expensive they'd be, but this felt like the right moment to step inside and browse the selection. Oh what a delight! It's a small shop but packed with goodies -- eye candy quite literally. I decided on three different truffles, including the seemingly popular champagne truffle (I got the one with dark chocolate, which the woman said is her preferred). I also got a hazelnut milk chocolate and dark chocolate filled with jasmine. The price is by weight and those were in the $3 to $4 range. The ones toward the right, when you enter, are more expensive, around $6 to $7, even if they're simply solid chocolate with no special fillings. For example, solid chocolates shaped into gnomes, cats and owls that weigh a lot more. I chatted with the woman (an Asian American student) a bit, and oh my, I was so surprised that she added a free chocolate (a pistachio dark chocolate) to my bag, after saying, "These aren't cheap!" (as in, so here's another to enjoy yourself) for a total of four truffles! Maybe it's because she didn't offer me a sample (I just noticed a review mention getting a sample), but either way, I was giddily surprised. The total for 3 was $9.45 so definitely pricey, but nice as a special treat, and not too bad if you control yourself and don't go overboard!! I hope to be back soon, maybe over the holidays. P.S. Yes, I am happy (and relieved) to report that the chocolates indeed taste really good. I get why these are pricier than other chocolates. read more

My wife always asks me to bring home their champagne truffles when I visit our San Francisco office, especially since they closed the Newport Beach location. While it's a small store the selection of chocolates is decent. The truffles are somewhat pricey at around $3.50 a piece. To be honest, I really couldn't tell the difference between their truffles with say Ethel M's, which is less expensive. I think the wife likes it because of the nostalgic value - her boyfriend in college used to send her these way back when. :-) read more

I've been coming here for years, and I'm happy to be able to say that - meaning, I'm happy they are still in Union Square and surviving! Sure, there are other chocolate shops in the City, but none with the old world charm and chocolates from Switzerland that Teuscher has. I love to be able to go in and buy a gift or just a treat for myself, and I love being able to pick exactly what I want (which is hard because all the chocolates are so good!). I almost feel like I'm on vacation somewhere when I go here. And I can't neglect to mention that the staff is always so nice and helpful! read more

Fortunately you are offered a sample when you walk through the door. We tried the champagne truffle which was pretty tasty. I decided then that I would pick up a few to take back to the room. I asked how it was priced and was told per pound. Ok, how much per pound you ask? ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE DOLLARS. For chocolate. It's good, but it's not $105 good. I picked out 3 truffles that sounded irresistible, paid my $10, and hit the road. A man came in as I was hemming and hawing and ordered $200 in chocolate. This small boutique has an amazing selection of Swiss chocolates. Along with different kinds of chocolate (milk, dark, white), they also have different kinds of truffles and flavor combinations (caramels, caramelized honey, nougat, nuts). They are well known for their champagne truffles, which are good, especially since the alcohol flavor isn't overpowering. For those who require sugar free chocolates, those are available as well. I really enjoyed the Caramelized Honey Bee chocolates on my last visit - the chocolate was smooth and the smoky-sweet honey added a different layer of sweetness. I also tried the Dark Chocolate Bar, which was really good. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. read more

I wanted to give this place 4 stars for being a little pricey but I really just can't. Every piece of chocolate that I get here is worth it. Well, actually I only get 2 pieces (dark chocolate orange slice, dark chocolate florentine). Personally I think this place is better than La Maison Du Chocolat, but maybe its because I'm a little bias. I guess I really can't compare because La Maison doesn't offer the delightful orange slices that Teuscher's does. They only offer orange peels (BOOO!!!!!) no one likes orange peels. If people think Godiva deserves 5 stars, then this place deserves 10. Eating each bite not only makes me happy, but sad because I know that each bite is one step closer to being Teuschers-less. read more

A tiny shop with a lot to offer. My favorite chocolatier in terms of flavors and service. Nice display and fresh taste. Love their dark assorted chocolates and solid bars. The girls working in the store are very friendly. They answer customers questions with patience, which is very helpful because there are so many varieties to choose from. It's a small shop with truffles and chocolates of all sorts, plus handmade-type dolls and cute Easter baskets and all sorts of things. I personally enjoyed the wedding cake toppers most. I only ordered one truffle, so I can't really give a comprehensive guide to Teuscher. However, I can tell you that it was the dark chocolate champagne truffle and it ruled. Only hard part is that it's very expensive. You pay by weight, and it was more than $2.50 or something per truffle. You could easily rack up a wild bill here if you're not careful. read more

Very tiny place with a solid selection of fancy and expensive chocolates. The ladies are always welcoming and knowledgeable about their products. My personal favorite is the champagne truffle. It's a delicate blend of fresh cream, butter and chocolate with a champagne cream center. I couldn't taste the champagne, but the chocolate was soft, sweet and melted in my mouth. I wouldn't eat these chocolates "just because" since they're so gourmet. They make great gifts and treats for special occasions. They can also FedEx (2-day or overnight) their chocolates. read more

I went in on Wed 4/15/09 to see what they have for Easter sale. They have 25% off Easter stuff. I saw a cute yellow or pink box with 2 Champagne truffles inside and a tiny chick on the outside and ribbon around it for $6.25. So 25% off too. I didn't buy it but was very tempted. Hey look! A random chocolatier far from the usual Union Square shops! And look! Chocolate kitties, bees, and gnomes! Oh my! Alcohol infused truffles?! Yeah, that's how I ended up walking in here for some more than I would usually pay for chocolates. Mainly I wanted to buy the chocolate kitty for my friend. I ended up picking up the Grand Marnier truffle for myself. My total came out to be about $10. My Grand Marnier truffle was very rich in flavor. Dark chocolate goodness surrounding this fluffy alcoholic and tangy truffle chocolate. The aroma is just so darn pleasant, it's not like the actual alcohol where it stings the back of your throat. I'll definitely come back for the various truffles, but maybe not so much for the kitty. After all, the kitty is a plain o' piece of chocolate, just a bit too boring for my likings. I did read up on few articles on how they are known for their champagne truffles made with Dom, definitely coming back for a piece next time. Came back here again. This time my palette was not overwhelmed after stopping at some other chocolate places before this one. I had the dark chocolate truffle and the dark chocolate butter crunch. They also give me a free sample of the dark chocolate ganache (thank you!). All three were pretty average. My wife's dark chocolate champaign was probably the best, but I cannot say that I am in a hurry to come back with the other chocolate options in SF.
