This place has become one of our favorite places for soup dumplings. The restaurant has a farm to market concept and is operated by a family with a farm. Orders are placed at the counter from the menu, there are also pictures of some dishes on the wall for reference. Some items can be purchased cold or frozen for home preparation as well, mainly steam buns and raw cuts of meat from their farm. After placing your order you'll be given a number to place on your table and the food will be brought out to you. Condiments, water and utensils are located to the left side of the counter where you pay. Over a few visits I have tried the soup dumplings (which are a family favorite). The dumplings come out piping hot, there is the perfect amount of soup to filling ratio. The dumplings sorta melt in your mouth and are very flavorful, just writing this review has me wanting to drive over for an order! I've also tried the duck soup, wonton soup, Shepherds purse wonton soup, seaweed salad, traditional dough stick, pork buns, steamed dumplings, and the King Pao chicken. My kids love the traditional dough stick both said it reminded them of the beignets they had when we visited New Orleans. They only wished there was powdered sugar to add to them lol! The soups were tasty, my personal favorite is the wonton soup the wontons has a decent amount of filling and was seasoned well, not to salty like I've experienced at a few other places. My sister enjoyed the King Pao chicken, she said it was one of the better ones she has tasted. My husband loves the steamed buns and steamed dumplings. Everyone I've brought here has enjoyed something off the menu. This is a new restaurant that serves Jiangzhe cuisine. It is located between the bank and Big Claw. The interior is fairly small. Come early if you have a large party. Some notable items on the menu include soup dumpling and noodle soups. There are chef's recommendations on the back of the menu. Those same recommendations are also hanging up against the wall. They accept credit card. However, there was a cash special going on when we visited - pay cash to get a free 牛肉酥饼 with your meal. Order at the register, get a number card, grab a seat and wait for your food to be brought to you table. Water and utensils are self service. Someone will come by to bus the table when you're done. I am unsure when payment happens as we paid after ordering, but we saw others pay after eating. Maybe you get to choose or it depends on what or how you order? We ordered the Jelly Tofu (salted), Jelly Tofu (sweet), JiangNan Style Ham, Chinese Dough Stick, Signature Crab & Pork Xiao Long Bao, Pan Fried Forest Farm Pork Bun. Jelly Tofu (salted) - Overall, it was refreshing. It had cilantro, wood ear, shiitake mushroom, and a salty broth. Jelly Tofu (sweet) - This was not sweet at all. I was completed surprised by the flavor. The liquid was wine (酒酿). Maybe that's how it's supposed to be in Jiangzhe cuisine but I did not like it. JiangNan Style Ham - It was chewy and refreshing. It was good. Chinese Dough Stick - It was average. I wish I had some soy milk to go with it, but the soy milk was sold out by the time we arrived. Signature Crab & Pork Xiao Long Bao - There is a very strong fishy flavor. Fishy flavor is usually good but it was so strong that it overpowered the rest of the dish. Even eating it with the vinegar didn't help. On top of that, the dumplings were completely stuck to the paper and the dumplings would rip releasing all of its soup juices. This is not my first time dealing with soup dumplings so I totally get that it is a delicate process, but this was almost beyond master level chopstick skills. Pan Fried Forest Farm Pork Bun - It was pretty good. It was also filled with soup which is hot and explodes everywhere if you are unawares. First thing.... they just opened and haven't even gotten their name on the outside. It still says North Town China" or whatever..... don't be confused. It's next to Xathay bank, and has the suite on the door. So, on to the the food. Most Chinese places have the same quality or better said "the level" of the ingredients is pretty much the same. Not so here. They own the farm, and grow the Berkshire Pigs which are the Wagyu equivalent in pork. We ate the Ghoboli buns, and when you bite into them, the dough lasts longer than the meat. There is a lot of meat in the bun, but it literally melts as you chew it, and is more tender than the outside. Amazing. As Dave W. pointed out, T.F.F. has a new owner. The business sign has been updated. I assume it was the new owner that was measuring the floor dimensions. I'll have to go back and see what modifications have been done. We went there on a whim. My best friend, and spouse, had a Dr Appointment in the morning and I had one in the afternoon. We were killing time and instead of driving all over creation we looked for a place with good air conditioning as temps approached triple digits. Tish remembered seeing a Chinese supermarket where the old Elliots hardware used to be. As we were walking in Tish exclaimed, "dumplings!" I immediately got a taste for dumplings in my mouth and once we'd checked out the market we visited Texas Forest Farm for some dumplings - side note: loved the market - even had live Maine lobster. We were greeted as we entered and a very pleasant woman helped us with our order. I had cabbage and pork dumplings and Tish had chicken and mushrooms. We were given a choice of sauces. Our hostess explained that the vinegar was traditional in China. We went with the vinegar based sauce instead of the usual soy sauce. The tang of the vinegar sauce lent itself to the dumplings perfectly. It was a welcome change. The dumplings were chock full of goodness. I could have eaten more. I am sorry I can only comment on the dumplings. There was a wide variety of other dishes we'd like to sample. One mark of a good establishment is if those who share ethnicity with the restaurant are present. All of the other patrons were Asian which puts another mark in the plus column. This is a small shop. Go there for the food. I have no idea what decor they'll come up with in the future. While the ambience lends charm to a dining experience, I'll take good food over flash every day of the week. Bottom line: We'll go back. I am anxious to try some of their other dishes. The back story also is intriguing. They actually raise much of the food they serve. Standouts include the Chinese dough sticks (best we've had in TX by far), pan fried buns, organic pine seed rice dumplings, duck soup with vermicelli & shepherd's purse wonton noodle soup. 4 pieces bun (baby fist size) for $9?? Are you kidding me? Ding tai Feng costs less than this and food in this restaurant tastes mediocre. Plus they have no service what so ever. The waitress had that annoying attitude when we order food. An old lady even yelled at us from the other table because we wanted to switch something from what we ordered. Authentic Chinese food with great, fresh ingredients that are locally sourced from the directly associated farm. We sampled the Xiao Long Bao, the pine seed rice dumplings, pork buns, and the pork balls with brown sauce. I actually haven't tried the actual restaurant food yet, but my father was gifted a chili oil product they make and it is absolutely fabulous. There is something special about it that I cant put my thumb on but it takes it to a DELICIOUS on almost anything level. I have tried other similar products that are no where close flavor wise.. We got XLB and beef noodle soup. The food was okay. The noodles didn't taste fresh. The biggest problem was that their menu was not updated, they didnt have half of the menu items - they ran out of flat noodle and rice noodle. & They didnt even have ice for drinking water... I never expect good service when I choose to eat at legit Chinese restaurants, but it's a completely different when you get no service. No waiter came to our table, so I went up to the counter where I stood in front of the guy for 10 plus minutes while he was the phone. He never looked at me, never asked me anything, but did complete checkout for another person that came up. I kid you not, 0 service. Don't know how the food taste since I never got any. Run, don't walk to this FABULOUS restaurant! There were four of us that came across this farm-to-table Chinese restaurant. My wife is a real lover of Asian food, me, not so much. I have to tell you, this was the most awesome and delicious Asian food experience I have ever had. My wife too! This spot is not upscale or glamorous. On the surface you would not expect this place to be an outstanding food experience. Let me tell you it's fantastic. We met the owners, David and Ellen, who are a husband and wife team. First time and it was a pretty good experience. The service was great. Everyone was ready to help with the menu. We had soup dumplings - really juicy and delicious, pan fried dumplings- also juicy and delicious, tofu soup - not much flavor in the tofu, Jiangnam style ham - good, but needs to be sliced a little thinner, beef noodle soup - flavor is a little different than what we're used to, but still good, Lion's head meatballs - it's more like a regular meatball, vegetarian goose - nice sweet flavor. The prices are a little more than other Chinese restaurants though. It's such a small place, probably would benefit from adding a little music in the background. I didn't checkout the bathroom. I hope it's super clean. Also would help customers by including soup spoons with soup dumplings. Those little plastic spoons won't do. We'll definitely go back for the soup dumplings. read more

This was probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to. When we first entered, no one greeted us so we sat down by ourselves and grabbed a takeout menu, no one appeared out of the back until ten minutes later. My dad and I ordered a wonton soup, a combo plate and steamed buns. The steamed buns were tiny, and they only gave 4. The buns were pork but however they were extremely sweet and the dough was soggy. May I inform you that the buns were $9 for 4 small buns. The wonton soup was flavorless and the soup tasted like hot water and oil. Definitely not worth $30 for this meal. The worst chinese foos I've had so far in the DFW area. Their "old duck soup with vermicelli" was only boiled water with salt and sesame oil. No flavor, no meat, only a few slices of duck gizzard which tasted old. Mapo tofu was sauce with tofu on top. The tofu was not cooked thru, no flavor, sauce over thickened, barely any meat, which was ironic for a place advertised its farm-to-table meat. Rice didn't come with the dish, you had to pay for it, which was fine if the rice was "at least" the right type of rice. The thing pissed me off the most was they gave Thai jasmine rice, not chinese/japanese rice. If you are from a country eat rice everyday, you would know the importance of having the correct type of rice. Even my italian husband knew the rice was wrong and barely touched the tofu -- yes it was that bad. The popcorn chicken meat was fresh but missed a few seasoning. The soup dumpling was their no.1 dish and was good. To me, this restaurant treated customers like they don't know food and was a joke to me. read more

They sell 6 wontons for 7 bucks, and the wontons test disgusting. The boss used a gimmick that the meat is organic to justify their pricing...... which is really rediculous.
