Had a great meal here last night. It is a busy, busy, busy place full of families and kids. So don't expect a quiet night out here. It's loud! But everyone from the front door to our bussers were friendly and happy to help. The food was great, traditional comfort food, too.

Went to Texas Roadhouse, and as usual it was a pleasant experience! The restaurant had that lively, fun energy it's known for upbeat country music, and the smell of fresh bread and sizzling steaks filling the air. We got there before the rush on a Friday night. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo with a side of rice and a loaded baked potato. My son got the same steak and shrimp combo but with fries and applesauce. Our little one had Andy's steak with fries, and my wife got an 8 oz. sirloin with a loaded baked potato. My daughter got the regular entrée-sized Caesar salad with a loaded baked potato on the side. The food was without a doubt delicious! The staff were friendly and very helpful. My son and I requested our steaks cooked medium-rare, but they came out a bit overcooked closer to medium-well/well-done. That said, the staff were really attentive and made sure to take great care of us.

Always a great place to go to eat a good meal at a good price. Not the quietest place but knowing that going in it's ok. The food is always good and so is the service. I happen to cross paths with an employee that I felt went above and beyond when it came to customer awareness and customer service. Her name is Niyah. Even though they were very busy, she made me feel like I was a valued customer. Thank you very much for going above and beyond.

This place sucks. Burger bun was hard as a rock. My mom's burger was overcooked. My cheese fries don't even look like melted cheese, it just slides off the fries and stays intact in a blob. Waste of money.

We haven't gone back there in a long time because the steaks hadn't been good. But tonight we ordered a filet medallion and a New York steak for takeout. While my son was eating it, he realized one of the three medallions was mushy and tasted very weird, and that the meat was rotten. We were very disappointed. I hope my son will not get sick from it. On top of that, they missed a side dish, and I had to go back there to get it. The people there did not treat me well. We will never go back again!

Shout out to Lauren! Awesome host Went there at 5 pm on Wednesday, got seated quickly. Happy meal!

We ordered med rare but came out med even the picture looks med rare but it wasn't!

We rarely go to this location cuz it's like 45 min from us but we like going here b/c they seemed to have it together in service. We always sit at the bar area cuz we can get seated right of way & enjoy the sport games & music videos. We both ordered the small prime rib med rare. It came out med (see pictures) so before complaining we took a bite & it was good, good flavor so we didn't say anything. I asked for mushrooms on my steak & it came out with like 6 mushrooms (see picture). I'm like wth? They apologized & brought out a small side bowl of them. Hubby ordered the chili & requested it to come out early but it came out after our meal, ugh....

    Worse Manger EVER !!!

I would have to say that this experience has been the worst service ever. While waiting for a table the girls at the front were rude and than when we got to our table they put us in a booth with a group of 11 and 2 other people at another table when trying to talk to the manger Crisha, she became very Rude and when trying to ask questions she just walked away and lefted us there.. At this point we just decided to leave since "Crisha" was just rude we and didn't feel that we were going to get the service that we should. Crisha needs to be retrained on customer service.

We had an all around great time at roadhouse! Bella was such a wonderful server. We started with margaritas and a cactus bloom (who doesn't love a good fried onion??). I got the chicken critter salad and it was delicious!! We'll be back!

Sammy could not have been nicer and more helpful and cheerfully said, "Mistakes happen. You keep the baked beans and let us give you your green beans." He really saved the day for us as most of the kids present did not like baked beans. He said, "Have them try them, they'll like them", and they did! We got a meal for eight and took two boxes of leftovers home We ate at the outside picnic tables. We had table side service with runners bringing us sides in serving bowls as well small trays and larger round trays for the adults. All of our meal trays were HOT! The slaw was five star from all including everyone who "doesn't like slaw." There are three sauces. Everyone had their favorite. All are good. I went back in after the fam left to refill my water for the ride home. WHAT? Brunswick stew and pork rinds? I was offered a sample of the stew and snagged the last bag of rinds (even bad rinds are better than no rinds, right?) I was offered a sample of the Brunswick (all the meats, a little corn, Lima, potatoes, bbq sauce, tomato's). This is a a low-key restaurant. Great service. My favorite pulled pork, Mac and cheese (which I do not eat, but tasted just for you), law that was universally, loved, and overall excellent sides, and dishes. Great service indoors, or outdoors. Yes, I'm coming back. If not just for a bag of pork rinds the best I've ever had! Ambience indoor outdoor. Not four star service or serving but a perfect picnic site with excellent service. My husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork was hand prepped and breaded and very good. The Sidewinder fries are the BEST in Indy area - hands down and the portion is generous. Everyone was stealing his fries. My granddaughter had the Kid's pork bbq slider with Mac and cheese. She also devoured a corn muffin. She loved her meal. Others had the Pork Bbq sandwich combo with backed beans. The beans are freshly prepared and crave worthy. Pork sandwiches had a generous amount of moist pulled pork. We ordered at the counter and food is prepared fresh so there's a bit of a wait during dinner hour. About half people get their food to go. Prices are reasonable - especially desserts. The dining area is small - maybe five tables. Seating is tight. The patio area outside is nice if the Indiana weather cooperates. I love this place.

The BBQ poutine fries were so big on the tray that I felt a little ostentatious as I was carrying the tray back to my table. It felt like all of the food on my tray surely should have been going to a family. But no: All of these BBQ poutine fries were just for one gluttonous person (me). Every so often, I would get an enormous fry that was way bigger than the others. It was more like a steak fry! It was like a little baked potato. It was nice to have that variety in the appetizer (which I was treating like an entree because, again, I was eating this giant appetizer by myself without shame). One of my children opted to get the kids meal here, which is the mac & cheese with a side (he chose fries). The mac & cheese is cavatappi pasta, so it's that pleasing curly texture that kids love (my kid loved it). I always order the Cuban when a new restaurant has one on the menu, and Big Lug's did not disappoint. It was juicy, flavorful, and one of the better Cubans I've had in a while. On my second visit, I went with the blackened cod tacos on corn tortillas (you can also get flour tortillas, and they offer shrimp and breaded fish options). They were fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Both visits I ordered the spicy garlic cauliflower, and it was outstanding. The homemade blue cheese dressing took it to another level. If you're on the fence about ordering it, don't be--it was one of my favorite things on the menu. The outdoor walk-up bar creates a really cool, laid-back atmosphere, making it a great place to relax whether you're meeting friends or just enjoying a meal by yourself. We sat right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged someone down. The guy, "H," apologized and said, "Oh, my bad--it's all good." We figured, no big deal, let's move on. We ordered pretty simple food, apps and were then going to put in some entrees once apps arrived. We asked for waters and a water bowl for our pups. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. Maybe that's standard there, but I've never had a server just take my card without asking. Usually you get a "hey do we want to use this card? Or something to confirm. And of course the tip structure is skewed so the min is 20% unless you want to try to figure out to manually enter in 15% (which most ppl don't -incl my guy), so we left 20% and left irritated and still hungry. "H" didn't seem hungover or anything--he just genuinely seemed like he did not not give a shiiiit. We had to get up three separate times to get things we had already requested: the dog bowl, a couple straws, and silverware. (Basics) And a quick note on the 7-Layer Hoss Dip: don't expect seven layers. It comes in a small thick ceramic bowl and was basically beans, guacamole, a tiny bit of corn and some hard cheese on top. Definitely would not recommend it. Way too "beany" and not worth $16 at all. The southwest rolls were decent- very fried tho. Cheesecake Factory's are better ;) The location and dog-friendly atmosphere are great, with the exception of the homeless camp right at their patio entrance, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, because Big Lug has a lot going for it.

Upon walking in you put your order into the kiosk, or you can go up to the counter I believe as the man there will take your order. I believe he might be the owner too because he was never cooking. A few observations about the place it's got some really cute decor. Little bit more cliché than authentic. I would call out. The menu definitely has authentic items on it. The cooking is not as authentic however it is generous and it is fresh tasting. For example, the beef plate I believe had some type of seasoning on it. That gave it a flavor that is not exactly authentic. So I would recommend laying off the seasoning. The Katsu sauce, which is self service is also legitimate as as the teriyaki sauce. I would definitely come back here again however I also learned that there are other similar Hawaiian barbecue spots in the Carmel fishers Indianapolis area that I would also definitely want to check out and compare.

It was late, I was home for the night, and I told him I would try to return within the next day or two. When I returned, the owner was not there. I was informed that I would only receive one-third of my money back. Since I had eaten only the rice and vegetables, I requested a 50% refund. Those items were listed on the menu at approximately $7, while my total bill was $18.52. Given that I had been asked to make a second trip back to the restaurant, my request seemed more than reasonable. The meats were still in the container... even the parts I attempted to chew but had to spit out. (Gross, I know!) The manager stated that he would need to call the owner for approval. After speaking with him, the owner instructed the manager to refund the full amount of my meal. The manager then pulled out the cash but proceeded to take several phone orders and serve another customer who was waiting for food--all while I stood there waiting for him to hand me my refund. He kept saying, "One moment." After patiently waiting, I finally asked, "Is there a problem?" He replied that there wasn't, but then began typing another message into his translator app. At that point, he informed me that while he would refund my money, I was no longer welcome to eat at the restaurant. I was absolutely appalled, but simply responded, "Okay." I have no interest in supporting a business that neither values its customers nor stands behind the quality of its product. Fortunately, there are plenty of other places to eat. He then added that because no one else had complained about the meat being tough, he did not believe that it was. I accepted my refund... all $18.52 of it... and left. I will never return, and based on this experience, I would encourage others to think carefully before patronizing this business.
