Mediocre food, terrible service. I ordered takeout. Ittook an hour and a half for the food to be ready. when we picked it up, we were told they were out of house salad. Instead of texting us and telling us we needed to make a substitution, they didn't make the order that had the salad. So after an hour and a half, we now had to wait for them to make the order. They made the substitution for the salad but still got the order wrong, forgetting the sautéed onions and mushrooms and including mashed potatoes instead of the ordered loaded baked potato. After all that, the food wasn't that good. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't somewhere I would ever eat again. The Mac and cheese had very little cheese. The steak and ribs were okay, but nothing to write home about. read more

When I tell you that I have visited just about every Texas Roadhouse in Connecticut and Massachusetts, believe me. It's not out of an abundance of love for Texas roadhouse but my job has required it at times. I've now been to the Cromwell location three or four times and I don't know what the problem is there but that place is just off. On my last visit, my friend's steak was overcooked and the mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best. The waitress seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Did she not like kids? Did she not like people of color? Was she just having a bad day? I don't know but every time I've been there it's just been a weird experience. I'm going to have to lay this at the feet of management because the tone starts at the top. Having said that, the manager that I interacted with on this last visit was very pleasant and attempted to make things right. But by the time you have to tell the manager that there's an issue, there's already a sour feeling about the whole undertaking. There's no reason to think this place couldn't be as good as any other Texas Roadhouse with a little effort. It is a formula after all, and I don't know where the real problem lies. read more

A few nights ago my wife and I decided to go out for a steak, we chose the Texas Roadhouse in Cromwell. When we arrived the place was packed, we put our name on the list with the hostess and overheard her telling the couple in front of us there was a five minute wait, this was after we waited behind these people while the hostess was on the phone for several minutes. We took a seat in the anteroom and waited for what seamed like approximately twenty minutes while we watched as people who came in after us to sit down were called and got a table. Finally I said to my wife lets go out and stand where we can be seen, we waited there for another five to ten minutes before we were noticed and were told we would be the next to be seated. We were seated at one of the smallest tables they have and after a few minutes the waitress came over and we ordered drinks and since we had been in the restaurant for about forty five minutes now placed our drink and dinner choices together. The drinks took about twenty minutes to arrive, it took so long we actually polished off the bread basket while waiting. We drank the drinks and wanted to order a second drink but that took another act of God to get and by time our salads came we had been in the restaurant for over and hour and there were people that we were waiting with leave. Finally the meals came and we started to eat. We both ordered the 16oz N.Y. strip and when I went to cut into mine every boarder was surrounded by thick fat and just about the time I was giving up on trying to find an edible part containing steak the waitress arrived and I showed her my plate of fat and gristle and advised her it was disgusting, and I asked for a manager, well they were just as consistent with that request as they were with everything else. The waitress came by two to three times to advise me that the manager was coming by which, by the way never seemed to come. When the manager came over she was holding a plate with a fresh N.Y. strip on it and a baked potato maybe thirty minutes from the time we were told she was coming and I was expected to just say oh great thanks so much. By this time my wife had finished her meal and I was full from my salad, baked potato and the two drinks I had and was in no mood to be cordial to this person. I told her just what I thought about her steak and she was saying she was sorry and you know what, at that point the whole night was ruined and I didn't want her free steak and told here that. I told her she could keep that steak and after confirming the first steak wasn't on our bill we left her with her steak. . I realized through this experience that this business model doesn't suit me. I don't want to arrive at a restaurant and be treated like cattle, have to wait to get a text to be able to sit at a table and try to enjoy my meal with people flying by me and kids screaming and peaking over the booth next to me. When my wife and I got outside we realized this whole process took about two plus hours to be humiliated and have to wait for every single part of the meal and then to be treated like, what's your problem, you get to take a good steak home, you should be grateful. I went there to enjoy a meal not to be last on the list for every service they offer. These people acted like they deal with this everyday and as long as we appear to be nice and polite you should just accept that. I advised the manager I would never step foot in one of their restaurants again and that if I was still upset the next day I was going to call their corporate headquarters and she acted whatever! read more

Extremely disappointing experience. We tried Texas Roadhouse for the first time and wouldn't go back. If you go, have low expectations. This is basically fast food. - The rolls that everyone raves about were nothing special. They were like grocery store dinner rolls heated. They flavor them with cinnamon and provide cinnamon butter which didn't do anything for them. - The food overall was extremely salty. - They got 2 of 4 steaks right with the requested cook. We were a party of 4 with 3 different requested temperatures. Medium-- they got perfect. Medium Well- was overcooked to well. Well done-- 1 of 2 were well done. They butterflied one of them and it still had pink. - The corn was overcooked canned corn - The mashed potatoes were more like smashed potatoes with hard chunks and the gravy had a solid film on it. read more

I was just wanting hot food--hot would have been enough! The best part of my meal, honey, was the tomato on my burger. I'm not even kidding, honey! The chili was the most disgusting chili I've ever had. There was a giant blob of cold meat floating in the middle of it. Not an iota of salt in it. It was dirty tap water. I have been to Texas Roadhouse so many times. My father always says, "it's consistent." That's the bar! Didn't even meet that. The rolls were good! Can't eff up rolls, honey. Just left Roadhouse. Strike 1: Upon reserving reservations, we were told that we would not be seated unless ALL were present at the same time. Strike 2: We all arrived and all THIRTEEN were seated at TWO tables. Thirteen People for TWO tables. strike 3: I asked the server who was taking drink orders, if it was possible to accommodate myself and others in my Groupe, to make our stay more enjoyable, by letting us sit across at another table. He left and returned stating that no server was available for the table I was sitting at. (Note: It was directly across from the table he was taking drink orders from, My party). Point of Story: I'm seventy y.o. spent lots of $$$. I was there to drop two hundred or more but was hampered by the fact that this establishment made it difficult to happen. I do not go out to accommodate restaurants, I spend $$$ there so they can accommodate me. I am not rude or difficult. In this instance I left. So, Roadhouse, how many have you lost besides me. Is it cheap labor or Poor management. Or you just don't give a damn. Give a zero star. read more

If you are looking for a margarita go somewhere else. They are all pre-mixed and I seriously doubt there is any alcohol in them at all!!. In fact one of the employees even warned me against them telling me the same. The fact that they will sell you a shot of Patron for 3 dollars says it all!! This is not my first trip to this chain restaurant and so we were pretty excited when they opened up closer to where we live. It took us months of trying to be able to get in without a huge weight. We first went 2 weeks ago and I would have given it a four star rating at that point. I ordered my steak well done and it came out medium so it had to be sent back. The waitress was great and the restaurant was busy so it wasn't a big deal. They tossed it back on the grill and it came out medium well but very tough. We decided to go again last night because we had found a gift card and the restaurant was slightly less busy. I ordered a different cut of steak well done and it came out medium rare. Even my husband who will eat any steak would not have touched it. He ordered his steak medium well and it came out very well done. My steak got sent back and put back on the grill and came out medium well which I was perfectly fine with. By that point mistake was charged so I was just having to trim it to make it edible. The waitress was again wonderful, someone in management came over to talk to us about it since we had told the waitress this was our second experience like this, and the manager's response was "I will ask them to temp the steaks before they come out." the waitress offered us an extra bag of rolls to take home and luckily the meal only ended up costing us $20 after the gift card. We will not be returning at this point. I would like to be able to enjoy a meal beyond just a baked potato. However, their baked potatoes are wonderful. The restaurant is your typical chain, nothing wrong with it but busy and loud, and the staff were very friendly. I rarely give two stars, but I even said to my husband that I was nervous about ordering a steak again there because it would probably come out wrong. I still decided to give them a second chance because I could see that it was a busy night the first time. I wasn't looking to have anything comped because that's not why I go to restaurants. But it's a chain and they typically have better processes than this, and so clearly something is not working. If they were a seafood restaurant and couldn't cook a steak I could totally let that go but they are a steakhouse and can't get a steak correct. read more

Giving this a 3 for now as they just opened about week or so go. I've been here twice since opening (friends visiting then my girlfriend had a steak craving). Went Sunday when it first opened and we checked in via the waitlist. It was already insanely packed and we were greeted quickly, friendly staff and escorted to our table right away. Overall service was decent but the waitress was still learning as she forgot to ask about sides (incorrect amount of sides asked when prompted which we had to correct her a few times). Food was typical Texas Roadhouse - was warm, flavored decently and came out relatively quick. Second visit wasn't as pleasant but I'm Giving it the benefit of the doubt as this seems more like a staffing learning curve. We went last night, again checked in on app, around 4pm. They were already fairly packed but again walked in and seated quickly. Unfortunately it took about 10-15 minutes for anyone to come to our table. We were placed in the corner of the restaurant so glad someone finally came along as it was near impossible to wave someone down due to the lack of foot traffic. Waitress was nice but seemed to not really care about the table. I got my water 5-10 minutes after she came to our table and my girlfriend's beer took closer to 20. Our apps came out before her beer lol once the waitress came and delivered our food, I asked if I could have another water and we never saw her again until we checked out on the tablet. Overall if you can hold your horses, I would recco to go to the Manchester location if this location is a similar distance still. This location is clearly working out through opening kinks and I foresee it'll struggle a bit as they're constantly packed. If you don't mind the growing pains that may come with visiting a newly opened restaurant, then you'll be fine. read more

Went on a busy Friday, 5:30 and were seated immediately. The service was fast - drinks came quickly and we both ordered steaks, salad and baked potato - no starter. House salad had crumbled egg and it was good. Bread had cinnomon butter - I'm not a fan, and rolls were nothing special, Steaks showed up before we finished salads and they were exactly as ordered. I like a rare steak with just a little salt and thats the way it came. Steak is very good quality - good taste and tender. Shared apple pie we will skip next time. The service personnel was numerous and worked hard to please. They did a line dance in the middle of the isle, and a shout out later. That was fun. It is noisy fun place with good brands for beer and wine and not a place for a cozy romantic happening. But it was fun and we liked it. We will be back. read more

Fries were soggy and cold. no pickles included as listed, the meat was well done when we ordered a pink center and worst of all our meals came out 18 minutes apart. 5 pm on a Tuesday night and there is not a spot left in the lot. We have dying to try TRG, but couldn't make it to a sit down dinner, so opted for takeout. The food was so-so. Way too much salt on the outside of the baked potatoes and also on the ribs. The steak was rare, when it should have been medium. There were also several small items that got mixed up, toppings that were left out, such as the missing extra salad dressing and bleu cheese crumbles. A friend and I had lunch here today. My favorite cut of steak are filet mignon's.I mention to our waitress Jayden that they biggest cut they offer was an 8 ounce. She said she would check with the kitchen and came back shortly. They were able to cut me a 12 ounce! Our food came and we were extremely pleased. They were cooked to our liking. I walked in and we got seated pretty fast. Overall the restaurant gave the "cowboy" vibe I was looking for. The appetizers came out so quick and there was amazing timing. I usually don't write reviews but this needs to be shared. We went Sunday around 1, semi busy. I made the waiter aware of my wife's deadly allergy to carrots, and so did my wife. Don't worry, he said, they'll be no carrots. He brought a salad with carrots in it to my wife. We order chicken wings as appetizers, those came about 15 minutes later and cold. We returned them. The manager came over for the damage control statement. That was a joke. She took the wings off the bill. I told her about the allergy incident, she didn't seem to care one bit, avoided eye contact the whole time. When the entrees came, my steak and "dried up" ribs combo, which the meat could only come off the bone with a knife, was barely warm, the fries were the only hot food in that plate. My wife felt that this was a payback for complaining. This happened to a senior citizen couple. This experience was ugly and unacceptable. We will not be returning to this steakhouse. read more
