For a chain restaurant it was actually pretty solid. We try to frequent non-chain establishments for obvious reasons but we wanted a good steak and were visiting Duluth and realized they didn't have many steakhouses with very good reviews so we gave it a shot and it was tasty from the buns to the appetizer to our entrees. We like TR in general as they consistently have good quality Steaks at a fair price. At the Duluth location we were thrilled to be seated right away at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Maybe it was just an off night, December 23rd, but our food was truly awful. Country fried steak was worse than some generic grocery store brand; tough, overcooked and the breading did not even stick. The reason? Everything deep fried was bitter and nasty because the frying oil should have been changed several days earlier...it must have been black and smoking and I guess nobody in the kitchen noticed or cared. The atmosphere was great, service was great, but the food is the worst I've had in a long time! Please remove the word TEXAS from your name because it's an embarrassment to a great state! read more

The 2 stars is for good rolls,but they should give people time to look at the menu not bug them every 2 mintues,and when u go online to look at the menu they shouldn't show 2 racks of ribs I ordered full rack and got a half a rack the appetizers small and over cook,my brothers prime rib was suppose to be medium well but instead it was part raw the baked potato was really dry and the waitress did not seem to know much because when I asked her something she had to ask someone else and the bathrooms were disusting and the seat were very uncomfortable. read more

I was pleased with the service and food, but I was not however pleased with the fact that after my bill and tip the total was $33.00. This was fine and what I was expecting, but then when looking over my bank statements I some how got charged $61.02. I'm not sure how this happened but when going to my friends who went with me, one of their cards was billed $5 more than what they left on the receipt. If there is someone at this establishment that can inform me on how this could happen I would love to talks my number is 7153088207, but until then I plan to not return to another Texas Roadhouse. read more

This is my second time here. The service was good and so were the appetizers. I had a porterhouse. The fillet was amazing but the strip was tough, closer to rare and and mediocre at best. The sides were horrible. The loaded baked potato didn't have enough to cover how dry and bland it was. The green beans were mushy tasteless and completely uneatable. It was over priced for the quality of food and not my kind of atmosphere. The line dancing was good for a laugh but after that it was annoying and I felt bad for them as it looked like they were dancing at gun point, not for fun. Far better than my first experience at the roadhouse but there are plenty of other steakhouses in town that are better atmosphere and food. read more

The food was worthwhile - good food higher priced - the server was friendly... but the noise level was horrible... you had to yell to the server so she could hear you and she had to ask us two or three times to make sure of what she heard, you had to yell to the people you were with to have a conversation... and then it became even worst when they all got together and line danced!!! My boyfriend & I came to this location for his birthday dinner since so many people had recommended it & neither one of us had ever been! We walked in & right off the bat, the desk of snobby girls starred, no greeting. Neither of us had been there before so we weren't sure to wait for somebody to seat us or if we should seat ourselves. Eventually, somebody came & helped us. We sat down & had a few friendly people greet us, finally! The fresh, warm bread was great too! We ordered our drinks (I had a strawberry lemonade, that was great!) & we ordered two appetizers, one was fried pickles (never had them!) & buffalo wings, because we sample buffalo wings to every place we go to see who has the best, so far, this place was the worst contender! Anyways, the pickles tasted like old oil & the chicken wasn't crispy in any way & was kind of bland, not much "buffalo" if you know what I mean! Although our appetizers weren't too great, we decided to go ahead with our entree's. My boyfriend had a NY strip steak & it was super good! No complaints & the fact that it came with 2 additional sides, was great! I had country fried chicken with a "creamy" gravy, which ended up actually being a CREAM gravy, not just a cream based gravy, a the traditional way to top a country friend chick is with peppered gravy so I was disappointed-- & a side order of mashed potatoes (loaded with cheese & bacon) well, what they don't tell you is your main course is 5x as big as your side dish, the mashed potato bowl was about as big as my palm & they were slightly cold, enough so the cheese hadn't even slightly melted. Our bill came to about $60 bucks, I would have paid that for a fantastic meal but this was far from it. I was so disappointed that I will probably not go back or recommend anybody to do so. This evening, my partner & I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We were promptly seated, both the bread & the plates accompanying it arrived at our table perfectly warmed, our side salads came out quickly & nicely chilled, and our server Lisa was incredibly attentive and efficient. We both ordered a bone-in ribeye, and the plates arrived to our table in the hands of Kevin, a manager we had frequently had chats with when we'd dined at the Roadhouse in the past. As he set the plates down, he explained that my partner's ribeye had fallen apart on the grill and he had arranged for the kitchen to fire up a brand new one, free of charge. My partner explained that it really wasn't necessary, and that he would gladly eat the ribeye on the table, but the manager insisted and said he would box it up for us to take home. (On our last visit, there had been a couple mistakes made with our orders, and Kevin had been managing that night & helped us out. He had recognized us this evening, and explained that it was very important to him that we have a positive experience after what had happened on our last visit.) A beautiful ribeye arrived to the table moments later, and Lisa came by the table to ensure we were happy. My partner ate the first ribeye he had received & he happily reported that it was delicious. Lisa sat down with us to talk for a while when she had all her tables cleaned up, and we laughed & carried on together - She was an absolute delight, and we will be asking to be seated in her section next time we visit! Now, on to the real reason for this review: My partner had an idea during dinner that he wanted to pay Kevin's generosity forward. So, we boxed up our bread, the remains of our appetizer, and the brand new ribeye, and left the store after thanking Lisa & Kevin for the fantastic service. After that, we drove through downtown Duluth in search of someone who looked in need of a hearty meal. (Please note that we made this decision to donate our meal solely ourselves, and that the restaurant in no way was aware of or should be held liable for our actions.) As we stopped at a red light, a young man walking down the sidewalk next to us caught my partner's eye. The window was down, so he called out, "Hey man, you all right?" The man looked over and asked, "Actually, could you spare any change?" "As a matter of fact man, I can," my partner said, and I immediately pulled over. The man approached the car and my partner lifted the bag up and explained that there was an untouched ribeye inside and some other food, and handed the bag over. The man's whole face lit up and he said, "Yeah man, I'll eat this up! Many thanks! Many thanks!" as he held onto the bag and grinned. We didn't have much cash on us, but we gave him what we had, and he could not stop saying thank you. It was an incredible experience that would never have happened without the generosity of Texas Roadhouse. Huge thanks to Kevin, Lisa, the kitchen crew, and the entire Texas Roadhouse staff. Because of your generosity & excellent customer service, a person in need, someone who may not have even known when their next meal would be, got to enjoy a delicious ribeye tonight. My son wanted to have lunch here on his birthday; I am a vegetarian and my husband eats very little meat. It was were my son wanted to go, so keeping an open mind, I checked the menu online and did find a handful of side items that were without meat, so on we went! It's loud and it was chilly in the waiting area. Even though it was not real busy and there was no one else waiting, they wouldn't seat 3/5 of us, so we stood there while 5 or 6 giggling hostesses chit chatted and did sundry other non things til my son and the gf arrived. Once we were seated, which still took 5 minutes, our surly waiter had us wait another 15-20 minutes for our food order. Our salads were very good. The 2 New York strip steaks were ordered medium rare but came out rare. Neither diner complained but my son explained that when he worked there for a week he was told to undercook the steaks, so that's the formula. The cat fish and chicken strips were fine, as were the sweet potatoes. But the other sides: buttered corn, broccoli and carrots, mushrooms and onions, and steak fries were so salty they were inedible. The waiter didn't return until it was time for the $96 bill, so no one wanted their salty bits replaced. Truthfully we had just been there too long and wanted to leave. The manger offered to do something but we declined. I would have given the place 4 stars but it was not very welcoming or comfortable and the over salting of expensive food pretty much did me in. I liked that they seated me even though my friend had not arrived yet. Loved that they brought basket of hot rolls immediately too as I saved all my calories for this much anticipated meal. Alas, I wound up greatly saddened. My friend ordered well done sirloin steak and mashed potatoes with gravy. I ordered medium ribeye with baked potato. They mixed up our steaks. Mine was very greasy, thin, over cooked and unworthy frankly. After a few bites thinking this is irritating. I looked over at my friend's plate seeing the pink center of the much more appetizing looking steak....she had my steak! The person who dropped off our plates was not the one who took the order. I pointed it out to my friend, but that is as far as it went. So paid for ribeye never tasted in a very noisy place that made conversation difficult. Periodic hollering and hooting from the staff as well as line dancing over the discarded peanut shells on the floor add to the ambience, but loud country music played over NFL on the bar TVs was not what I wanted. Checks were presented without an offer for anything else. I might have had cheesecake had she asked because I did not finish the greasy overdone steak I did not order. Sigh. read more

A bit Overpriced, and NO selection for a non-meat eater. I was able to eat the free buns they bring to the table and a $10 Caesar salad which I had to request without chicken. The atmosphere is great if your into the country vibe, but personally it was almost uncomfortable. Service was not great, my families food came out 20 minutes before my salad, and I was told someone "forgot" about it. Will not go here again. I will add the buns are delicious! read more

Big food but it's good and the staff is very friendly and help with celebrations (birthdays and ext ) usually very busy more of a dinner place because of the food and hours but is good go there instead of just going to Olive Garden or something in the mall can't beat the food read more

My husband and I had dinner there the other night. We loved that we could eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. My husband loved the sweet rolls. We ordered the onion appetizer as well as deep fried pickles. Both were amazing and huge portions. We both had steak. The ribeye, steak fries and corn off the cob was amazing!! The steak was cooked to perfection, the fries were delicious and the corn was oh so sweet. This was our first visit but we will be back. Our entire meal cosy $43.00 which is well worth it. Excellent freshly baked rolls and decent steaks prepared as ordered. I just wish they had a decent wine list and decent wine glasses. (They serve their wines in small 4-ounce Libby's wine glasses.) Since there are plenty of other choices in Duluth where you can have both a great steak and a decent glass or two of moderately priced wine served in a decent wine glass, I will likely not be back. But I will miss those rolls.... read more

Went for dinner with a friend I haven't seen in many years. The steak was fine, but we couldn't wait to get out of there. The music was so loud, we could not talk to each other. We asked them to turn the music down and they did, but was still too loud to have a conversation. The waitress told us this isn't bad, on the weekends she loses her voice because she has to yell her entire shift. What is their purpose for having the music so loud? There are enough speakers that if they turned the volume down to almost a whisper, everyone in the building would still hear it. I will never go back there to eat and I will surely discourage anyone that says they are going. Too bad, because the food is good and so is the service (until you ask them to turn down the music....maybe we should have asked them to turn it OFF). read more
