Good food. Expedite customer service. Fresh appetizers. Cheese fries were good. The bread basket smelt good and all bread was warm. Fresh hamburger sliders and more fresh fries. The vibe was busy and chatty

I love this place. Saturday they were so busy but got us seated in good time. Nikke our sever was wonderful and friendly. I was concerned that we asked so much of her but what ever we needed she did not hesitate to get it. The food was hot and delicious and we did not have to wait long for it. Rolls were bought warm and as usual off the chain. We will be back!!!

Crispy Chicken Critter Salad

The amount of food in my salad was more than enough. The ranch dressing was thicker than I like but it wasn't bad tasting. The crispy chicken salad did not have croutons. I cannot rate this restaurant any higher because the bathroom was in disrepair. It was absolutely disgusting, and I had a toddler in there with me splashing around in the water on the floor. I felt gross the entire time after we exited the restroom. Our service was fine but we had issues with the card reader at the table. One battery died. We had a larger party and this caused some issues.

I took myself out for a solo dinner and sat at the bar. I was acknowledged quickly and the food came out quickly. Don't look for craft beers here tho. The food portions were so large that I got 3 meals out of it. It was pretty loud, so not ideal for any meaningful conversations, lol.

Genuinely the manager can go fuck themselves. Other than that the servers are always nice and the food is pretty decent aswell. Only thing worth mentioning is the cactus blossom.

We had a gift card and decided to drop in for a weekday dinner. It was really busy for a Tuesday which is a good sign to me! We were seated immediately, and got our drinks and dinner order taken shortly after. Never ran out of drinks/water and food showed up quickly, hot and fresh. I enjoyed the chicken critters, good and crisp. Veggies were veggies and fries were crispy and good! It was a good place to sit for a bit too, as they had wheel of fortune and lots of other shows on. Olympics would have been fun but that's all good. I will be back to spend up the gift card and maybe after it's done too!

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

The interior is warmly lit and rather…read moredark lending itself to a more intimate atmosphere, but they also have ample outdoor seating right on Overton Square. A prime location for a prime steakhouse. The service was strong as was the pacing. I found the server a bit too eager to explain the restaurant and the menu. I'm a ribeye eater so I had a pretty good idea I was getting a ribeye before I went in. I think the talking is used as a way to upsell and push guests towards opaquely priced off-menu "specials" which from my understanding are always on offer (such as their deviled eggs and bone marrow sauce). We started with the beef tartare and duck ravioli. I preferred the tartare, which had a nice spicy seasoning throughout. The duck ravioli had an excellent sauce on it, too. For our mains, I got the prime boneless ribeye ($68) and my brother got the prime strip ($56). We also shared the Yume A5 Wagyu experience ($225), letting us try three different cuts of Wagyu side by side. For sides (about $15/each), we did the fontina potatoes, truffle honey tots, and carrots. We also added the gulf prawns ($21), foie gras ($14), and bone marrow sauce (~$20) which was prepared table side and was plenty to share. It was very rich and peppery, though a bit of a salt bomb. For dessert, we shared the French toast bread pudding with maple butter ($14) which is one of my favorite bread puddings I've tried. They also brought my brother a dessert since it was his birthday, it was something like a raspberry mousse with coconut foam and a sharp raspberry sauce. Excellent. The Yume experience was a big motivation in coming here, as getting to try cuts of A5 Wagyu next to cuts of regular (albeit prime) beef is unique in the Memphis area and really for hours around. It was priced as an experience rather than a food item. It did not disappoint, nor did the prime steaks. The A5 is so unbelievably tender by comparison. My favorite was the ribeye, but I'm biased. My brother, normally a strip guy, agreed with me there. The potato sides were underwhelming, particularly for the price. I don't know how I let my brother talk me into buying him $15 tater tots for his birthday. I could get the carrots again, though. My total was $800 for the two of us for the above food, six cocktails, and tax and tip. A big chunk of that was the Yume experience as well as the drinks (we were celebrating!). If we were to go back, it would be closer to $350 for the two of us, and I would go for the prime ribeye with foie gras again, no need for Wagyu or sauce. I enjoy the sister restaurants in this restaurant group (Coastal Fish, Flight, Southern Social) and frankly I'd bet Porch is the cash cow of the group due to the relatively poor value proposition. We had a great experience exploring the finest steak and accompaniments one could wish for. But, for my money, Coastal does a pretty good steak too.

Every bite was tender and packed with flavor, making them an unforgettable appetizer. The steak flatbread was equally delicious, layered with tender steak, fresh toppings, and perfectly melted cheese. The cocktails were expertly crafted and worth every sip. If you visit during Happy Hour (Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.), don't miss the discounted cocktails, featured wines, draft beers, and appetizer selections. It's one of the better happy hour values in the city. Char Restaurant +1 Then came dessert--the legendary Butter Pecan Cake. This dessert had to be created in heaven. Warm, buttery, rich with toasted pecans, and paired with creamy vanilla ice cream, every bite melted in your mouth. It's easily one of the best desserts in Memphis. Even better, this masterpiece is also served at CHAR's sister restaurant, Amerigo. From the exceptional food and handcrafted drinks to the polished service and elegant atmosphere, CHAR delivers a five-star dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommended. Order the crab claws, enjoy Happy Hour, and whatever you do... don't leave without the Butter Pecan Cake.

The grits were hard, and the crabcake appetizer came out cold--though the sauce on top had great flavor. None of our food was served piping hot, which was disappointing. The crab claws were a highlight--buttery and well-seasoned. We did have to send our fries back for a fresh batch, and the shrimp and grits were just average. The best part of the meal was definitely dessert--the double brownie with pecan ice cream was delicious and saved the experience a bit. On a positive note, the service was good--Liz was great and very attentive--and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. Overall: decent, but not a standout. 7/10

My husband ordered the cowboy ribeye, and it was amazingly good -- tender, flavorful, and cooked just the way he likes it. To top it off, he had the Southern green beans with ham hock, and those were seasoned perfectly with that slow‑cooked, down‑home taste. My sister‑in‑law ordered the lamb chops, and they were delicious as well -- tender, well‑seasoned, and cooked beautifully. I ordered the fried shrimp, and while they came out overcooked with too much breading, once I removed the breading I was able to enjoy them. The shrimp themselves had good flavor; they just needed a lighter hand in the fryer. The service, though, was superb from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and on point -- the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of. If we're ever in Memphis again, we will possibly visit again. Tripadvisor +1 The Blood Orange Old Fashioned was nothing short of extraordinary. Perfectly balanced with warm bourbon notes, bright citrus, and just the right touch of sweetness, every sip was smooth, bold, and incredibly refined. It's easily one of the best Old Fashioneds I've had and a cocktail I'd return for again and again. The bone-in steak was cooked to a flawless medium, boasting a beautiful char on the outside while remaining tender, juicy, and packed with rich beef flavor. Every bite reflected expert craftsmanship and respect for the quality of the meat. The salmon was equally impressive--crispy on the outside, moist and buttery inside, topped with a savory crumb topping that elevated the dish without overpowering it. Paired with creamy herb potatoes, roasted cauliflower, and fresh kale, the plate was elegant, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. Even the warm artisan bread was a standout, arriving fresh and perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft, pillowy center. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it ideal for date nights, celebrations, or simply treating yourself to an exceptional meal. Chef's kiss to Ignite Steakhouse! Premium ingredients, impeccable execution, exceptional cocktails, and a dining experience that exceeds expectations. Our waiter, Max, Mac (???) was 18 and therefore could not help with any adult beverage recommendations. Ordered the Butchers Bacon Rack (similar to Porch &Parlor but NOT), when asked, he could not tell us the difference in flavors, not a good experience to even know which we liked or did not. Perhaps this is a learning opportunity/retraining for the restaurant. He was not knowledgeable of the many things. It offers 1st job or owner's son type of job. The entree's were basic at best, the 20% gratuity for the service received did not align and restaurants do that on purpose. There isn't an incentive for waitstaff to offer above and beyond experiences. I had the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, I cannot recall anything memorable (see photo). One of the guest had Fried Green Tomatoes, those were yummy and the Calamari was tasty. The saxophonist was AMAZING, he brings a great background atmosphere unexpected than the food. Listening to him along with appetizers would have been enough for us!! That said, visit at your own risk. For me and my guests we will not be returning.
