Yesterday, the entire family got together to celebrate my oldest granddaughter's 5th birthday at a Texas Roadhouse Restaurant off the 60 and Stapley in Mesa, AZ. Texas Roadhouse has been somewhat of a family favorite since they opened their restaurants here in the Valley a few years back, and up until yesterday, I've always felt that they were a great place to go for some laid back casual barbecue fare, so keep in mind that my discontent is with the management of this particular restaurant for this particular event, based on my perceptions of what transpired there yesterday. I'd be hard put to bring a party back to this restaurant! Since it was going to be a large get-together - 31 people to be exact (plus a couple babies in carriers) , my son not only called but actually stopped by the restaurant earlier in the day to verify that their "private room area" would be available for our party that evening and he was assured that it would be - no problem. Our reservation was for 5 pm and my son and his immediate family were there by 4:30 to once again verify the reservation and wait for the rest of the family to arrive. By the time that we had arrived at 4:45 there were about 10 of us and the rest of the party arrived within the next 20 minutes. We had been asked to let them know when the whole party was there and we did and they walked us back towards the sectioned off area where we believed they would seat our whole party. Since we were towards the back of the group, we were a little surprised when everyone stopped at the doorway into the seating area. Before I go any further, I'll describe the area a little. There were 4 six seat booths along one wall, and 2 four seat booths plus two four seat tables along the opposite wall. Seating for 40... meaning that there would have been some extra tables once our party was seated. Not a problem from our perspective. Well, in their infinite wisdom, the restaurant had decided to recently seat 3 other parties (one couple at one of the six seat booths, a party of three at one of the four seat booths and a party of four at the last six seat booth) in the room and moved the two tables over next to two of the booths, plus bringing in an extra table... making one half of the room incredibly cramped and only giving us uncomfortable seating for 26 - comfortable would have been around 24. When my son asked where the rest of the party would be seated, he was told they would be just outside the door in the main dining room. He requested to speak to the manager who came over and said (with more attitude than anyone in a customer service position should have) that they didn't "hold tables for large groups", and there's no way the woman my son had spoke to earlier in the day would have told them that they could guarantee the room. The manager said he "knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't say that." Huh??? Implying that my son was lying? I don't think so... The restaurant obviously had a record of a reservation for 30, why would my son lie about making arrangements to ensure that all of us actually sat together? Um gee... let's see, you sit in here, you sit outside the room over there... and the rest of you, just pick a seat anywhere and everywhere. For cripes sake. The kicker is that there were several other empty tables in the main dining room as we walked through. My son reiterated that the hostess currently on duty knew that 90% of the party was there before 5 and that the other 3 people would be there within minutes. We actually didn't get seated until almost 5:15 - well after our reservation time. So 7 members of the party couldn't be in on the party because the restaurant hostess screwed up and the manager didn't even feel compelled to apologize or make good in some other way. Needless to say, what should have been a fun and joyous occasion ended up being somewhat strained and stressful... and the restaurant serving staff was obviously annoyed when everyone in the rest of the party came into our cramped half of the room to stand around while presents were opened - somewhat hindering the serving staff's access to the other four booths in the room, but seriously, what were we supposed to do? I know one thing I will be doing, and that's complaining to the restaurant's regional office and contacting their headquarters through their corporate website. There is absolutely no reason in my mind why this should have happened given the circumstances. My advice to you is if you have a get together that you want held at this restaurant, either go somewhere else (there are a lot of similar restaurants with great food at similar price points in the area) or get it in writing that your group will actually be seated in the same area. This is one restaurant I will NOT be returning to. Shame on the staff, especially the manager - there was no need to be rude and disrespectful and insensitive to the situation. read more

I would not recommend Texas Roadhouse for catering. The event I attended has me considering other choices for future catering opportunities. The food was good, but they arrived with the food 45 minutes late. They didn't send enough servers. They forgot to bring the plates and silverware that they promised were part of the package. They had to run out to various nearby stores to get supplies, and served the dinner on the cheapest paper plates available. All of these delays threw off all other events planned for the evening. NEVER AGAIN! But, the food was good. read more

OK liked it , Brazilian taste is near those from Sao Paulo, meats definitively not same or close to a Brazilian , we are from Brazil, so that is why maybe we will not give it more stars. The one in Tempe is closer, but also very pricey read more

We've been going to this Texas Roadhouse for a long time and have always been happy with the food and service. This past Monday we went for my mom's 84th birthday and FINALLY convinced her to order the T-bone a $27- steak. She ordered it medium rare as usual. The first one that came out wasn't even pink. Sent it back. You would think the replacement would go to the front of the line but it took the normal amount of time. In the meantime my sister and I had gotten our meals. The 2nd steak was also not med rare. Went back again. Our compensation was a free dessert. the third steak was almost raw and not very good quality - lots of gristle - but she kept it. We truly aren't that picky and have had our steaks there not come out the way we ordered but didn't send them back. But a steak that's almost 30 dollars should be a good piece of meat cooked correctly. We'll look for another place to satisfy our meat cravings. read more

This place is a total dive and I am completely baffled as to why it's so popular, you have to wait forever to get in. The floors are littered with peanuts, classy. The food is nothing special, way less than mediocre compared to other chain restaurants. The restaurants are always crowded and very loud. I was forced to come her for my sister's birthday, too bad my family loves dive restaurants otherwise I would of never come here. read more

Steak was cooked good but even though it was a 19oz portion I would nock off a couple of oz for the huge bone in the meat. Also wife asked for a salad and veggies but got dry veggies and lettuce in a bowl. Not vegan friendly. I know its a steak house but dry veggies and a bowl of lettuce, don't try so hard now. Also the waitress likes to sit down next to you while she takes your order. A big no no on restaurant nightmares. This place has nothing on the big Texan in Amarillo TX. Just your run of the mill corporate creation. read more

I usually never have a problem when I come here but we called ahead and still had to wait a very long time and almost left. There was a miscommunication and we asked to speak to the general manager. He was very professional and easy to talk to. He made it right and our server Caleb was awesome! Definitely going to keep coming here. read more

My husband and I went to the 1605 S Stapley in Mesa location in the evening before heading out to the movies. Texas Roadhouse is my favorite steak house and I have been to ones in Indiana, Georgia and Arizona. I have never had a issue with any of them, until this one. To start off, the ribeye had too much fat on it. It should have been trimmed more. There was probably 2 ounces of fat in my 10 ounce steak. Then when my husband and I were ready to leave to catch our movie, we couldn't find anyone for about 20 min or more to pay our bill. Come to find out, they were in a meeting in the kitchen which I heard clapping and cheering. While my husband and I stood there not being able to leave until we were able to pay our bill. I called the manager Jared the next day who was there yesterday evening when we had this awful customer service, and he just apologized. We had missed 30 min of our movie which was straight across the street in the same plaza because we were forced to wait to pay our bill. A apology was not enough to me for feeling like a hostage who couldn't leave while trying to get someone to take our money so that we could be at the movies on time. The associates that tried to help said they couldn't do it that it had to be the waitress or Jared. I have never had this bad of experience at any Texas Roadhouse as I have this one and will not be back. Jared needs to attend more management courses in customer service. read more

My favorite steakhouse! Food tastes great and so does the price. The waiter was awesome as were all the other friendly staff. I wish there was a Texas Road House at home in SoCal! I got the steak and grilled shrimp with sautéed mushrooms, garlic bread, green beans, and a baked potato all for $17! I tend to eat a lot and I wasn't able the finish everything which is probably also due to the delicious free appetizer bread that they provide. It is no doubt that I will return. read more

I have loved this place for years but my last visit 3 days ago may seal the deal from ever going again. Service was ok until we got out salads. Both salads had small flies or gnats on the lettuce. Maybe they got on while we were eating who knows but I quit eating after a few. It's and the sever didn't seem to care. Then my 11 oz medium rare sirloin came out...barely any pink and chewy...server states "looks good to me". Wow. No thanks. I'll try other places next time read more

One of my favorite meals is a good steak and a potato, and I must say, I have never been disappointed coming to the Texas Roadhouse. I love the peanuts at the table. I start eating some of those right away. Iced tea is good and they keep it filled up for me. I've never had a bad waitress here. They wear really skippy short shorts here, which doesn't bother me, just an observation. I imagine that for the guys to get the good tips? The rolls are pretty good, but I wait till the end to eat one due to the honey butter that comes with it. I don't like my sweet at the beginning, only at the end. :) I order my steak medium, and it came out flavorful and juicy. I eat the whole potato, skin and all, its so good. I have met the creepy balloon guy. He's just an old man trying to make a living, cut the guy a break. I just politely said no, I would not like a balloon and he went away. Pricewise, under $20 for lunch, which for a steak restaurant, not a bad deal. If you want that nice feeling of fullness after eating a good meal, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Ordered online on a busy Saturday evening and took us 15 minutes just to find a place to park to pick up the order. They told me on the phone to pick it up in the to go room which isn't labeled from the outside door. Once we got there, they had an issue with their register so credit cards were taking 10-15 minutes for approval...wish I would have known that before and I could have grabbed some cash from the ATM or cancelled the order and gone somewhere else. Waited almost thirty minutes and it still wasn't approved, not to mention the food was sitting there not under a heater or anything just getting cold. Was told it would be heavily discounted if we wanted to wait...no thanks, I don't feel like waiting another hour or so. Cancelled and went somewhere else that could accommodate the customers needs. They had us wait almost an hour and after all the hassle couldn't do anything but void our order. No free food, no nothing. Horrible customer service. read more

I LOVE Texas Roadhouse. The restaurant i give 5 stars. However i was very upset on how i was treated by the hostess. I called in to see if i was able to do a "reservation" for a large party this was around 8:15pm. The hostess asked when would i arrive and the name for the table, I had arrived by 8:30 and had my fiance go up to the front to let them know we were there. The hostess let my fiance know they were waiting on a table it would be about a 45 minute wait, he then asked what was the point of getting our info down and calling to reserve a table her response was "we really don't take reservations we just bump you up to the front on the waiting list" So we waited and three other parties were seated ahead of us. At this point i was very irritated and it was already 9:45 i decided to say forget it got the managers name and the hostess didn't mind that we were done waiting. A simple sorry about that would have been nice but all she said was oh, ok. I hope the next time i go in i am given an accurate time and a simple we do not take reservations will be GREAT! read more

The cinnamon butter and fresh, hot rolls are so delicious and addictive that you could almost forget that you came for steak. Almost. The steak here is by far the best out there. They always cook my ribeye steak perfectly without drying it out or burning it. It is juicy, tender perfection. We used to go here often when we lived in Gilbert until 2010. I was hoping things were the same and I was not disappointed. We had a party of 6 last Saturday at 5pm, a very busy time for this place. The wait was only 30 minutes, even though there was a line and the place was packed. The free peanuts kept us happy until we got to our table. Everyone greets you as they pass. Our waitress was very friendly, but not overbearing. The drinks came out fast, the yummy rolls kept coming, and the food was hot and delish! My ribeye was a perfect medium. It was a great meal at a great price. The manager came by twice during the meal, once to check on how we liked everything. The second time he brought a bag of peanuts and a coupon for the newcomers at the table to share. I was the only one who had been there before. Someone remarked that we were travelling in 3 different cars, so he brought back two more containers of peanuts for us! It's a bit loud here, but but has a fun atmosphere and good country music playing. They have great early bird specials and it's less noisy in the afternoon. Definitely worth a trip! read more

I spent my college years going to the local Texas Roadhouse so I was excited to move close to one when I came out to AZ. I have never met anyone who isn't satisfied with the bread and butter. I think the onion is the perfect size for an appetizer and the rattlesnake bites have a nice zesty kick. My standard is the prime rib, but I also enjoy the occasional steak kabobs or roasted chicken. Always greeted with a smile and the service is solid. read more

First off, I have been around to many restaurants and I live and breathe hospitality. My wife and I decided to come to this place to dinner because I had never been there. Yes when you walk in there are peanut shells everywhere and country music playing. My kind of place and what else would you expect from a place called Texas RoadHouse. We were seated within the 20 minutes we were quoted and greated immediately by our server Cathy! She was very attentive no matter how busy she was while the entire restaurant was really busy. The only thing I can say is that this is the best customer service by a server in a really long time. We are concerned about being in the back corner but our attitudes had changed as soon as Cathy had shown up! She honestly was the best server with placing our child's food first and being on top of it. Cathy is the best and if I owned a restaurant I would be happy to have her as a server or a floor manager. Long story short, my wife and I will be back for another great experience with Cathy! read more

The reason for the 1 star is because I was treated so rudely by the host, we walked in and they said welcome in and I waited and waited probably a good 3-5 minutes before I was asked how many and my name I told her my name and there were 2 of us, she said 10-15 minutes, I said ok thank you. We waited and waited the entire waiting area was emptied out with people who even came in after us and then the straw that broke the camels back was a couple walked in and was seated immediately as we stood right across from the host station with the pager in hand that never went off. She said um what was your name, I told her and she said oh I don't know what happened and I commented that if I had not won the certificate that expired soon we would have left and she was like oh that's fine very rudely. I asked for the manager after stating this will be put on facebook etc she again said fine. The manager on duty ( I think) came up and asked what the problem was and I told her what happened she said ok and then had us rushed off after asking what table we were being seated at. We were seated and waited a little while, before being approached by a very nice server. Still in shock at what had happened. We ate and never ever saw the manger again we were basically told F you by her. She stated she was going to deal with the host but I am pretty sure nothing happened as usual because the young girl was still there when we left doing the same thing she was when we went in. I will never step foot in this establishment again and ensure I spread the word. read more

Great food and service! Priced very well. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was cooked perfectly! It was moist and succulent and well seasoned. Very surprised that this place does not have a 5-star rating from everyone. We come here about twice a month and with the exception of 1 time, have always had fantastic service from the staff and delicious food. The prices are extremely reasonable for the large amounts of food. I almost always bring home leftovers. Their rolls are the best though! Other restaurants in the area should take notes from this Texas Roadhouse. Treat your staff well and they will treat your customers well. It's apparent that this is the case here. read more

Last Friday, my family and I had dinner at this TR location. Although the food was wonderful as usual, our service and experience was not. We were seated next to a window and noticed a few ants crawling around while we were eating. We told our waitress, who quickly got the manager. He came over and apologized. A few minutes later, we noticed a COCKROACH crawling around on the table. The waitress got the manager again and he came over and told us "As soon as you guys leave, we will take care of it..." He said it almost as if he thought we were lying about the cockroach in order to get something for free. Not the case. All we wanted was a sanitary dining experience but instead we were left feeling grossed out. Shame on that manager for his blatant disrespect and lack of customer service. We won't be returning to this or ANY Texas Roadhouse location after the experience we had. read more

Went to dinner but was 15 mins late in using my free Onion blossom coupon... my mistake so I had to pay for it instead. Had the Prime Rib with sauteed mushrooms and steamed vegetables. The sautéed mushrooms were burnt and so was the 2nd batch. It was mostly burnt and charred. Thought I'd be healthy and ordered the steamed vegetables which consisted of carrots and broccoli. They must have dumped a 1/4 cup of salt/seasoning in that cup. I ate 1 piece of carrot and the broccoli was literally inedible. I informed them of my displeasure. The compensation to me was to give me a coupon for free appetizer for my next visit. That would require me to come back to eat at your restaurant. I have had excellent food there before... 7 or 8x before but not inclined to go back again. I frequent Black Angus and will continue to do so. read more

my folks are I went to Texas Road house in Mesa to celebrate my birthday, we asked the waiter we wanted a full slab of ribs so we can share(2 people), He brought 1/2 slab which has about 6 bones total. Very disappointed with him because four of us heard what we wanted. I could not eat a full slab so Dad and I shared it was not enough and very disappointed with the waiter!!! read more

I have never been more disgusted with a restaurant in my life. The manager was extremely rude, we waited 30 minutes over our "quoted time" and they wouldn't seat us because my son hasn't arrived at the restaurant yet. I overheard this same manager when I was waiting to be seated talking to her hostesses and I would be outraged if my child ever got talked to like that by their supervisor. If that wasn't bad enough, during the course of my meal, not only did I see a RAT run out from under the table, but when I went to the bathroom there was a COCKROACH! I will never be returning to this establishment and I strongly advise everyone to do the same. I LOVE Texas Roadhouse! Their food is AMAZING...I ordered a medium rare new york strip steak with broccoli and baked potato...they were all cooked to perfection. The broccoli is the best Ive ever had, The steak was tender and juicy and the baked potato was soft and hot. The rolls are a plus..i would reccommend eating here to anyone! read more

Cannot cook steaks to ordered temperature. Ordered medium rare, got medium well. They fired another, and it was completely unseasoned and rare. We asked for the manager, as the waitress agreed it was still undercooked, and he came over and said that it is exactly how he liked his medium rare steaks. We will not be going back unless they can learn to cook steaks. read more

Love this place! Every time we go to this location, we are seated reasonably fast and our wait staff is very attentive. The food is so yummy.. especially the rolls and baked sweet potatoes. If you are going to a Texas Roadhouse in the valley, it is worth it to drive a little further to the one on Stapley for really good service. read more

we went there Tuesday during happy hour. Ended up ordering form the regular menu. I had the file my husband had the rib eye and the appetizer sampler. this place is way better then The Keg. Way better. I ordered my steak medium rare. the first time ever i got the steak the way I wanted it. Just perfect. Not blue, not medium but medium rare. Fantastic. The waitress was awesome. We will be back many times over. The Snowbird season just started. See you guys again and again. read more
