We went to Texas Road House 3143 Erie Blvd , Dewitt NY last nigh 4/26/2023 with family. It was our first visit, we had a gift card. Having reservation on line made our wait very short. The food was delicious, the steaks cooked to perfection and Blooming Onion and steak salad YUM! What made our visit Outstanding was our server CORIE. She was very helpful ordering and was attentive during our meal without being a bother. I was waitress years ago and so was my mother so I know how challenging it could be. So I forgot to take pictures of my dinner because I drank that delicious margarita ! It was huge and yummy. Came in a chilled glass with patron and grand marnier. Yummy. I had the best waiter and sadly I can't remember his name but he was a lot of fun! The food was excellent! We had bread and more bread . It's so good, it reminds me of a fluffy pizza fritte . Yum. Salad was excellent and the ribeye was seasoned perfectly with tasty mushrooms and a perfect stuffed baked potato. I really really enjoyed this meal. Unfortunately, I have to give one star to one of my girlfriends favorite restaurants. She even confirmed this was a one-star dining experience. The food was as expected, I always order the same thing - Chicken Salad to start and the porterhouse with a potato and vegetables. What brought this typical 3 star restaurant down to one is the service. We went on a Friday night, which is typically busy and we called ahead to secure a place on the wait list. Once we arrived we were seated in the far back corner of the restaurant in a back room. They were certainly packed and I joked "you won't forget about us back here, right?" She promised she wouldn't but they certainly did. What should've been a 45 min - 1 hour dining experience turned out to be well over 2 hours. Waters weren't brought to us until we found a manager to remind them we were seated. Our order was all brought out at once, appetizers, salads and entrees - after I was adamant about bringing our salads and appetizers first. Our beverages were refilled, even after complaining to the manager for a second time. Our waitress apologize then proceeded to make the excuse she was busy and we should understand. We will not be coming back here for a while, especially not on a weekend. Diners beware. read more

I came on two occasions but only ate once because the wait was so long. It's a chain steakhouse that I never tried until yesterday. I had a gift card for this place that my family got us from Walmart. The first time I came, the wait was almost 2 hours so I couldn't wait long enough. The second time I came, the wait was 30 minutes. You can get on the waitlist ahead of time online but they do not take reservations. Some cool things they offer here: -you can pick out your own steak from their display of raw meat -they offer different size sirloins and salmon (6 or 8 oz) -the interior decor is very "roadhouse" themed with stuffed animals and roadside lights -they have a waiting room with a TV and a claw machine to entertain the kids -they have a giant barrel of peanuts that you can snack on in the lobby -you get free hot bread rolls immediately before you even sit down. These rolls are soft, yummy and made fresh every 5 minutes. You can get extra of it and you can even get some to-go after you've already paid your bill. It comes with a cinnamon butter that makes the roll taste like a Cinnabon -they have a kids menu The hostess who worked that day seemed over-it and was a little rude but the hostess that seated us was really friendly and cheerful. I tried the steak fries, chili cup with raw onion, buttered corn, mashed potato with gravy (you can choose sour cream or cheese instead of gravy), bbq chicken for under $11, the sirloin and ribs. The ribs fell off the bone so nicely and was tender. The chicken was not at all dry. The steak was cooked to a medium when my fiance asked for a medium well (I was ok with this because I like steak to be medium rare and we shared our dishes). Their dessert menu is small and only offers 2 things but their cocktail menu was bigger and offered lots of fun looking and colorful frozen drinks. The ribs here were better than the ribs at dinosaur bbq. I thought the ambience was really fun. The parking lot is often always crowded. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely come back again. The food exceeded my expectations. read more

Came in on a Monday night after 9pm went to the bar. I thought I haven't been to this location before but upon seeing Minnie the bartender it all came back. I have been here before and I think the guy to my right watching baseball and giving commentary to nobody is a regular and he was here last time too. Good vibe overall. Minnie took care of me with a $3 pint of blue light. I ordered up a full rack of ribs and now I'm enjoying American Ninja warrior and the commentary from the guy at the bar. My Caesar salad came out first and it was good. My main course of a full rack of ribs was next. It was good and Minnie even said she got me an extra side of barbeque sauce to go with it. I'm updating my review as it's been a while and this is still one of my go-to spots. It's consistent, reasonable and you know what you're getting. Other than Chipotle, this is really the only chain that I frequent. I have had no issues with my steak recently and I caught on to the fact that you can choose your own from the case on your way in to be seated. I always get the same thing - 8 oz sirloin and rib combo. The ribs are really good but can be a bit inconsistent in respect to the size and how lean or fatty they are. I always get the sweet potato (plain but you can get it with butter or loaded with marshmallows) and green beans side. I always have leftovers and can make a second meal of it. For approx $20, I dont think that's bad. In general, the staff are pretty attentive. I've had a few waitresses that don't keep my water full and I find that frustrating but in general, they often stop by and make sure everything is good and keep your drink full. It gets busy but you can do call ahead seating, which helps. read more

My steak was very fatty and over cooked "again" and my loaded baked potato had no salt on the outside, no butter, no bacon and no chives. Will no tbe going back again. Steaks are pretty good, I usually get the porterhouse (go big or go home). Most of the time it is done perfectly, but as of late they have been over cooking it. Normally I am a Medium rare guy, and it has been coming out more medium. Also, the service used to be solid, but in the past few months our servers have not been up to expectations. Some are short and looked to be over worked with too many tables, or just not caring about us as customers. I think they could get back to the stellar restaurant it used to be, but staffing is probably the culprit currently. read more

This is the second time I've been here - first review. My wife and I were spending the night in Syracuse and needed a low-carb option for dinner. We decided to give the Texas Roadhouse a try... cuz steaks. We arrived around 7:30pm (Saturday night). We were promptly seated, no waiting. Although we were offered their famous buns, we declined (cuz carbs). The hostess made small talk as we walked to the table for two, "Hows your night going?" We were then seated and looked at the menu. A full bucket of peanuts was at the table with a separate empty bucket for discarded peanuts shells. We could tell it was pretty busy and people were enjoying the roadhouse atmosphere. Our server showed up within 5 minutes, introduced herself, and asked us if we've been there before. We told her we had. She was very personable and positive. She took our drink orders (2 diet cokes) and, since she noticed we had no buns, told us she'd get some. We told her there was no need. I thought she was very observant to notice and conscientious to offer the buns she thought we were missing. When she retuned with the drinks, we placed our dinner order. Since we were eating low carb, I ordered the 23oz Porterhouse (no sides) and the shrimp skewer. My wife ordered the 20oz Ribeye with Caesar salad (no croutons). The server noticed that I ordered no sides and that my wife only ordered one of the two possible sides she was allowed. She asked if we wanted the sides we were entitled to to-go. We thanked her but declined. Again, great customer service. The order arrived in approximately 12 minutes. Both steaks were well-seasoned. My steak had varying degrees of doneness; from medium-well in some places to rare in others (I like my steak medium) but at least there was no blood on the plate. I decided not to say anything about the doneness (it's not a deal-breaker for me). My wife's steak was done to her liking. Our server checked on us periodically and brought refills (mine without me having to ask). Always with a smile. We skipped dessert and paid for the bill. Overall it was a good visit. I'd go back again. Generally, it had the same service and atmosphere we experience at the Texas Roadhouse in other cities. P.S.: There were two birthday acknowledgements while we were there. The service was very quick, our appetizer came out within 10 mins of being seated and our main entrees took no more than 15 mins. The food itself: we had ordered grilled shrimp and chicken fried steak. The shrimp was tasty, but over cooked. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the steak, saying it was cooked well. As one of my sides I had ordered a Caesar salad, which had too much dressing for my personal liking. I do recommend their margaritas! It was fruity and not too strong. It's always packed when I come. They have the best rolls & food in general. My friends and I stopped for appetizers & drinks before a concert in Syracuse. We sat at the bar because there was an hour wait for a table. We got the sampler and it was reallllly good. My day started out sour and ended up as sweet as their lemonade. I've never been there and boy have I been missing out. Sandi our waitress was so attentive and graceful. She would have me coming back, even if the food wasn't good. But it totally was! I got the steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes and gravy. My daughter ordered the salmon green beans and the chilli. She and I were so grateful for the hot dishes of food. We did start out with the crispy fried pickles, definitely a recommendation. Then we ended our lunches with apple pie and a brownie. Fantastic! Of course, we both brought home half the meal for the next day. It was just as good 2nd day. The one in Clay is always on point with good hot and enjoyable, service always friendly, speed of service for food and drinks, cleanliness, makes you want to return. The one on Erie Blvd is touch and go with everything. There are times the two are seamless as a brand but most times you feel like an extra in a movie, staff would much rather focus on conversations amongst themselves than customers walking in the door or waiting for someone to tell them who is seating them until they stop conversation with bread basket in hand and indicate you should follow them. You are served because it's necessary, silverware and napkins may not arrive for the bread and butter or possibly even the meal unless asked for, food looks like it was tossed together, wait the check oh yes please wait and wait for the check to be returned after payment. Second job is food service so don't get the wrong idea here, I tip according to service and return because of the food and atmosphere. read more

We were quickly seated inside the restaurant and I was surprised to see that it was pretty packed inside. While walking towards the table, I saw that it was quite dirty inside with crumbs and napkins on the floor. This is my first time going to Texas Roadhouse and I heard how great the bread rolls are. We were first given the bread rolls and I did notice that they were very soft. The spread thats given with the rolls was not really to my taste as it had a hint of cinnamon taste which I do not like. When we got a second round of bread, it was a lot harder than the first batch we received. We ordered our food and got the cactus blossom about 10 minutes later. The cactus blossom was delicious and the sauce included balanced the saltiness of the crispy onions. A big downside of our visit was that after receiving the appetizer, we waited around 40 minutes until our one entree came out. Was the food worth the wait? No. I didn't think it was anything special and by the time we got the entree I lost my appetite. The mashed potatoes and the French fries were good though. The food was good, and the service wasn't bad, but the restaurant was very dirty. In the window next to our table there was fake eyelashes, very disturbing to see especially while eating. Also while using the restroom an employee turned the lights off and my Grandpa who walks with a cane almost fell due to that incident. The table behind us waited over 20 minutes just to be waited on because the host sat them in a table that wasn't assigned to a server, so there's definitely a lack of communication there. read more

I had ordered pick up on the way back into work. A ribeye cooked medium rare. I drive 20 minutes to work after paying $26 for the steak and it looks like it was cooked for not even a minute. Still purple inside. I called Texas Roadhouse multiple times and can not get through the prompts as the operator brings you back to main menu and the Order over the phone option texts you a link to the website to order online. I had the 6oz ribeye steak and it was delicious. One of the best meals I've ever had.

Service was very slow. Waited 10 minutes to place order. 10 minutes to get a beer. Received side salad with no rolls 15 minutes later. Received steak with crusty cold mashed potatoes 20 minutes later. Ate at the bar. Another 10 minutes for second beer. 15 minutes to cash out. Steak was good! Maybe just a bad day. read more

The staff here is simply amazing and always generous with the very tasty house bread and butter with brown sugar, not to mention the peanuts found everywhere from the waiting area and walkways, and on every table. Some of my favorite dishes include the country fried sirloin and loaded baked potato. There's also a wide selection of steaks that I've sampled, though sometimes the seasoning is not always uniformly applied with every order. During busy hours there is call ahead seating available that puts you on the waitlist prior to arrival. Our Family absolutely loves enjoying the food and atmosphere of TRH until today 10/15/23 we were seated with no utensils we received our appetizer and my salad the server states they didn't have any and we were given To-go plastic wrapped utensils while other customers seated after us were given cloth wrapped silverware. then our meal arrived & barely could cut the ribeye and sirloin with the plastics given and the table "steak sauce" was clearly watered down bbq sauce that tasted rotten and was not offered another choice of steak sauce the loaded sweet potatoes were half cooked and only had fried marshmallows when I stated this to the waiter she said "that's how we do it" which it is not, our meals are our per usual so we know what was supposed to be expected this definitely was not the experience we've had in our multiple visits to the franchise this one was by far the worst meal experiences We weren't an ass and still tipped. we are on the lookout for a different steakhouse location we felt like our concerns were not addressed and avoided. read more

This a a great date spot if you've got the extra cash. They have a pick your own steak option which is absolutely wonderful as they have a lot of options ranging from NY strips to porterhouse steaks. Wasn't really welcoming when we walked in mostly young staff like high school kids, didn't welcome us since there was 3 hostesses standing by the entrance podium didn't acknowledge us till we said something. Checked in since we reserved seat because of COVID, the hostess took us to the booth didn't say anything we was going to get seated we just followed because she just walked off. Got to the both did tell us that was our seat, we sat ourselves down. Didn't say our waiter / waitress will be with us shortly, waited 5 minutes till she showed up. We been to a few of Texas Roadhouses across the US by the time we enter the door at least the whole staff acknowledges the customer all the way till we sit down and even waiting all the different servers from other tables will keep asking and apologize our main server should be with us soon is there anything you need. Just didn't feel welcomed in there and all the other customers in there was mostly waiting a lot for the servers. The younger staff where constantly checking their phones on the floor, while the older experienced servers where busy serving their best. I work customer service and I don't pull my phone on the floor when customers are around. When we left not even a thank you for coming in from the 3 young hostesses at the front they was busy checking their phones and talking to each other. Our server was alright she was busy looking busy but all we saw was her walking circles on the floor and not checking in with her customers. Enough of that they just need to work on staffing to welcome the customer better. Food was alright the buns make Texas Roadhouse worth it, steak was well cooked, ribs wasn't fresh it was to dry and hard it crumbled up. I've had them a few times with the same result each time. I like that they give out free kid meals for reading. We got a few from my daughter's teacher during the school year.
