We are typically very pleased with this chain of restaurants. Tonight was disappointing, especially since we raved to friends who joined us for dinner this evening. To start off, I always choose baked sweet potatoes for my two sides as they're typically baked to perfection. This evening one of the potatoes was so hard that a fork wouldn't pierce it. This uncooked potato had to have been obvious to the cook as it was served in an unusual way -- cut in half with the cut side facing upward in the plate. NEVER have I ever been served a potato cut completely in half. Whomever prepared the potato knew this was an undercooked potato. The "Fall off the Bone" ribs were dry. The rolls were over-baked. Our friend was served a completely cold sweet potato -- the butter wouldn't even begin to melt. Her Dallas Filet, which she thought would be a typical fillet mignon, came to her as a thin 1/2" steak. Upon cutting into it, it was gristly and not what one would expect for a $25 steak. Granted a potato and salad were the accompaniments but certainly not the bulk of the cost. Wow, came here on busy Friday night and I guess the staff all perform great under pressure because the food arrived really quickly, steak and meat were all cooked perfectly, and despite all the screaming kids and noise, the hostesses and servers all still remembered to smile and be nice. The rattlesnake bites were hot crunchy and spicy, love the spicy jalapeño mixed with melting cheese. 16 oz ribeye was tender and juicy, fries were hot and crispy. The seasoned rice was a bit overwhelming but if you like jambalaya style rice, this is your thing. I love how they serve their dinner rolls warm and the butter had a bit of cinnamon mixed into it. I think that the poor service, which is most apparent when one enters this place, will ruin virtually any visit here, despite whether the food is good, great or uninspired. Hey, it's a chain steakhouse, right? But the gaggle of staff who work at the register, as well as the people who work behind the butcher case, are so rude and disinterested, that most recently, I simply walked out. Nobody so much as blinked! This must be among the worst places in the chain, as staff are not trying to help or assist, so much as chat with each other. Normally go to the one in Smithfield RI. But went to this one instead. Our server was TRACY. The food came out pretty fast, even though they were very busy. I noticed why, as soon as customer left a table it was cleaned immediately. Sign of a good manager. The food was cooked perfectly. The only minus would be the Ceasar Salad I got was very dry and I had to ask for more dressing, which Tracy provided quickly. Now I've been in Texas Roadhouses in Ohio and Massachusetts, this one had the best waitress I've seen in a good many years. Tracy was amazing. She was polite, had a smile, and had perfect timing. She showed up at the table almost immediately and asked for our drink order. Returned promptly with the drinks and asked if we needed more time ordering or wanted to order an app. We placed our order and before we knew it she was back with the break Texas Roadhouse is know for. To continue with how amazing she was our drink glasses were about 90% empty and she brought out a refresher. Our order came out and once again Tracy asked if everything was good and waited for us to cut into our steaks. I have NEVER had a waitress do that. From start to finish Tracy was amazing and did an amazing job. You can train how to work, but you cannot train attitude. She had both at an extremely high level. Starting with the positives: Arrived during the dinner rush, had to wait 30 minutes (perfectly reasonable and acceptable). Server was absolutely AMAZING, professional, accommodating. Started off with their wonderful hot rolls and cinnamon butter, yum. My companion and I elected to start off from the margarita menu--my frozen sangria Margarita was great. Companion ordered the house salad, blue cheese dressing might have been the absolute best of any restaurant we've dined in. My Cesar salad was average, nothing to write home about. The not so good: This is a steak house, so the meat should be the shining star. Companion ordered the prime rib (medium rare) with a loaded backed potato. Meal came with the meat much closer to raw than as ordered. I opted to go with the 1/2 "slab," of ribs. Probably the smallest order I've ever seen, featuring dry, virtually inedible, overcooked ribs, buried under a mound of overly sweet bbq sauce. Since this was only our second date, we were both hesitant to send back our meals. Highlight of the evening, was definitely the server, low point was the food. Treated very badly by the staff here. This used to be our favorite steak place. We were in today for my wife's birthday dinner and were told it was a 20 minute wait for a table. No problem. We asked specifically for a table with chairs because the booths are tight and I was having back problems. They said it was fine, after 20 minutes we were walked out to... a booth. We said "Hey, we can't sit at a booth." And were told that no tables were available. we said we would wait for a table.. 10 minutes later they came to seat us again. At another booth. Went to the Texas Roadhouse on a Sunday afternoon and I wasn't sure what to expect. ..holy cow they cook a good steak! I got a New York strip with steak fries and fresh vegetables. The steak had a wonderful charred grill flavor and the fries and vegetables were tasty. I ordered my strip medium, it arrived medium-well but no biggie. Came here last night for dinner and was served by Mike. My friend has got to be one of the most critical eaters ever (worse than me) and he explained to Mike how terrible the last time his visit to Texas roadhouse was (not this location, they had to remake it 3 times) and how he was uneasy about ordering because it's never cooked correctly. First of all, Mike was the friendliest waiter ever. he spent a ton of time talking to us about food and service. He was extremely patient and completely listened to the concerns my friend had about ordering a bone in rib eye (I believe). he was efficient and best of all, the steak came out perfect. He never has no complaints. He had ordered 2 baked potatoes on the side because he was anticipating it to be made wrong so he could fill up on something, but didnt touch his second potato. two guys discussing in detail about the techniques of cooking steak, it went on for awhile. but then at the end I admitted I am a yelper, And that I was extremely impressed with how he treated us. I don't like to tell places I'm going to review them until maybe after when it's time to leave, and that's only when it's excellent. I only ordered a baked potato and it was made just how I ordered it so I don't have much to say about the food but it was good. the Margarita with patron kicker was lit! The food at Texas roadhouse or any chain really isn't spectacular because it caters to the masses. But Id say if there was an example of how all waiters should treat their customers, Mike would be it. Once in a while, everyone gets that craving for their Blooming Onion Knockoff, the Cactus Blossom. But, every single time I finish a meal here, my stomach hurts SO much. The cheap prices real me in, but the final straw for me going here was when I literally threw up my food. I ate a normal amount of my New York Strip and side of broccoli, but when I got home, I had so much stomach pain and a queasy feeling. Their food had finally caught up to me. The customer is the cattle here. Everyone at the table was asked to show ID's. When the age range is 40-55 this makes you feel like a number and not a customer. Some idiot at corporate probably passed this blanket policy. This ruins the personal experience. Went there last weekend for dinner with my mother. We were quickly seated and a food runner came over within a minute or two with some very delicious rolls with a cinnamon spread. My mom got a grilled chicken dish which she really liked and I got the prime rib. It was very tasty. There was a pail of complimentary peanuts at the table so we had that to munch on while we waited for our salads to arrive. The service was very friendly and we got our food quick. The staff was very customer service oriented which is something I appreciated. We came to Texas Roadhouse in Walpole to celebrate two birthday parties. The crowd seemed busy for a Tuesday evening. We had a party of 15. The food overall was somewhat mediocre. The food was salty and dry. The steaks and ribs which is what this restaurant is known for had little to no flavor. A lot of barbecue sauce to mask the dryness. Because we are local we come here often as a family, but this visit was by far not our favorite. It seems like that the food was all prepared at different moments and left sitting which resulted in the dryness. I just love the Texas Roadhouse. Ever before the Walpole location opened, it was tough to go to Texas Roadhouse. There are very few in the area, and all the others are in areas that aren't always the most pleasant or have the best employees. This location ROCKS! Literally, it's probably one of the BEST restaurants throughout this stretch of Route 1, and one of my personal favorites. Between the awesome waiters and waitresses at this location, the outstanding rolls they provide, the peanuts at every table, and the menu that's just a tad different from the other chains in the area, it just make a big difference. The Walpole location is clean, user friendly, spacious and while it does get busy, it's never THAT crowded. Even so, orders are always made to order, precise, and quick. Menu is great and includes a whole bunch of delectable meals with categorizes as: burgers and sandwiches, hand cut steaks, chicken specialties, country dinners, ribs, salads, starters, the "Kid Ranger" kid menu, "Dockside" favorites, and the Texas Combo menu. Tons of great options and something for everyone. Prices may be a bit more, but the portions are large and with some meals you'll be able to get two servings out of. I haven't ever had a bad experience and don't ever intend to. I love this place and would highly suggest it for families or group gatherings, or even for take out. I am writing this review to speak of a certain waitress at the Texas Roadhouse in Walpole, MA. My mother and I went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve and our waitress was a lady named Christina. Christina was very kind, friendly, efficient, professional and very sincere. It was about 8:00 at night so she had probably already dealt with about 100 customers, but she made us feel like we were her only ones, and was sincerely interested in the small talk we engaged in with her. We have been there many times and have always had good experiences, but this was the best. Christina may very well be the best waitress I have ever encountered anywhere. If you're okay with teenagers running the logistics of your evening, this place is for you. The service is a gamble. The first time we visited, our service was okay, but last night it was atrocious. Let's start with the rolls, unlimited last time, this time it was a basket of four for five people. The server looked away as we spoke to her. It was like we were boring her or something. While my daughter was ordering, the server turned to me and asked, "What is she saying, I can't hear her." As if my daughter was speaking another language. First a Caesar Salad was brought to the table. Nobody ordered it. Then ribs. No one ordered ribs. When my daughter's chicken was served, they dropped the honey mustard all over the seat and my daughter's jacket. They forgot my daughter's sweet corn, and my son had to wait to receive his meal because they thought he ordered ribs. Later, Some slightly older, but just as disengaged random girl came to our table to ask how we were doing. Was this the manager; no introduction? Impossible unless child labor laws have reverted to the 19th century. I complained and she came back with a bag of peanuts and a appetizer coupon taped to it. How sad. My son's chicken was comped as it came out after everyone was finished eating. The food was really terrible too. Steak fries were too seasoned; caked in salt. The chicken was full of gristle. My burger tasted like cold raw dough. And the side pickle was a combination of tastes - formaldehyde and salt. It was gross. I so wish this place was better. There's nothing down here in this part of Massachusetts. Everything seems to be low quality food with terrible inexperienced and downright rude service. Have you ever been to a place you wanted to like more than you did? Texas Roadhouse was like that. It's yet another chain steak place, but something was missing. The peanut shells on the floor give a certain lived-in welcome feel to the place. The staff is friendly and the meat counter where you can pick out your exact but of meat is a nice touch, but when the rubber hits the...errr.. when the meat hits the grill things aren't exactly great. For starters getting the cut I wanted turned out to be a challenge. I don't need a heaping slab of meat so I usually opt for the smallest Prime Rib cut offered. Unfortunately that wasn't available for my preferred medium rare so I had to trade up to a larger cut. Not that big of an issue - there's always lunch or diner the next day. But when the larger cut come out medium to medium well, and i was told there was no medium rare available, things went off the tracks. The entire point of ordering the larger, more expensive cut was to get it prepared the way I wanted. So sending it back, and now being told to forget getting a Prime Rib, I opted for a RIbeye, medium rare, smaller cut. Annnnd... no small cuts. At least this time around I did manage to get the larger sized cut prepared medium rare, but the flavor was lacking. I won't say bland, but as close as you can get without actually being bland. The server left the au jus from the prime rib so I figured it could help out the rib eye. No such luck. The Au Jus tasted more like an seriously watered down bullion cube than the rich meaty juice I expected. By the time the meal was over, the only stand out praise I could give was for our server's repeated apologizes and honest attempts (and I suspect honest feeling of helplessness to improve our experience) to make things right and the frankly amazing bread that came with the meal. While I certainly didn't expect much after that experience, the manager did discount our check by to reflect the cost of the smaller cut of rib eye than the larger I was served, but ultimately when you get a discount on a meal you didn't want that wasn't very good it doesn't really do much to improve the experience. I may go back one day, but as long as Longhorn Steak house is closer with much better food and almost never out of Prime RIb, I can't say it will be any time soon. read more
