I enjoy coming here on Sunday for karaoke night. I have not had a problem with service as some state. My only problem is being carded by the door man at the fence, twice. I was there on a business trip, my hotel was about 3 miles away, found on Yelp. Tex T Tavern seems to be a pretty fun joint, frequented by regulars but I was there by myself first time and felt comfortable. I had conversations with the staff and folks around me. It was a Thursday at 5 so the crowd was pretty much waiting out traffic and having work conversations and this is a good place to do that. There is a terrific patio set up with a nice big tree and big TV out there. I could see that being a great place to watch Saturday or Sunday football or a weekday baseball or basketball game if the weather is nice. Good limited local draft beer selection, I was drinking Karbach Hopadillo (ice cold pint glass was much appreciated). They had a ton of long necks in the cooler so no problem finding a beer. The liquor selection looked pretty standard for a neighborhood bar, plenty of top shelf options but don't bother them with some sissy drink, go downtown for that. It was a little older (middle aged) crowd but once again this was a Thursday, right after work and those are the people who are doing the real work so deal with it. I like the place. It was ethnically diverse, bartenders were friendly, open spaces, casual and prices were good. Here's why I won't go back. 1. They use the American flag for been bags. It's still the American flag. To some people, especially Vets, it still means something. To stand there with a bunch of pasty face millennials tossing it in the dirt was disgusting to me. 2. Animal abuse. The Macaw parrot is not nocturnal and doesn't belong in a bar for fat, old women to make aggressive gestures at the bird. Super laid back tavern with a great open mic night on Wednesdays! The management and staff is quite friendly, you can tell they really love this place and want everyone to have fun. They will even play with the bands on the open mic night if requested! (And yes they are talented). Great atmosphere and fair prices on drinks. A nice tall lady came out from the office & said ; " were not open but ill serve you anyway" . she turned oyt to be ine of the most pleasant bar staff people I've ever been around un my 55 yrs plus frequenting & owning bars & rests. She was intelligent, sexy, great conversationist, very loyal to the owners, cintinuesly working while holding a pleasant give & take about the Rockets. She's only there Sat 12:00-7:00. I was visiting from San Antonio and came across this bar because it was the closest to me. I really have to say the music they play is good and they really have a good place and bar to grow BUTTT the service from this bar was awful!!!!! The bartenders never even made an eye contact and I raised my ya d a couple of times. I gave them time because I understand they were busy but after 20 mins a girl bartender made an eye contact and I asked her to please help me get a drink but all she said was " I'm in the other side " so I asked if she could please let someone know that I needed help . DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! My first experience here was less than satisfactory. I wish I could give no stars because they don't deserve the one. I was invited to this bar by a friend. I get there and it was packed for the astros game. I walk inside and head to the bar to order my drink. After we get the drinks, we move away from the bar and over to a nearby pool table. While talking, I sat my drink down on the wooden part (the outside part) of the pool table. No one was near us and no one was playing pool at the time. A man very rudely came up to me wearing an astros shirt (mind you, as I stated earlier, there was an astros game on at the time so everyone in the bar had on an astros shirt of some sort) and picked my drink up, shoved it in my face and handed it to me. Then he proceeded to pick up the coaster I had my drink on and throw it in the face of the friend I was with. He started rambling off about my friend knowing that drinks weren't allowed on the pool table. Now, while I 100% understand that the bar has rules. I fully accept my responsibility in not knowing that rule. It was my first time at this establishment. It was just very strange to me that he would so rudely come up and move my drink without saying anything to me. I continue my night with my friend but it was still eating at me that "staff" could be so rude. While leaving, I wanted to express to this "staff" member .. his name is Jay I think (batman_jaytho). I walked over to him in a calm manner, not upset and not wanting an argument. We are all human and I definitely deserve respect as a customer. A simple "ma'am can you move your drink" would have done just fine. While trying to explain to him that I felt disrespected and that he doesn't have to be rude, he became very aggressive. He wasn't trying to hear me, constantly talking over me, displaying arrogance, and seeming completely unapologetic for his actions. Then his bodyguard shaped girlfriend decided to interject herself into our conversation for some reason though I wasn't talking to her nor was my issue with her. Seeing that I couldn't get through to him and after his bodyguard kept shouting at me to leave or they would have me "thrown out", I walked away. Still calm, still not raising my voice, I went outside and mentioned something about speaking with a manager to my friend. Yet another "staff" member (light skin guy with a beard) basically defended his coworkers actions by saying he was already "fcked up". Now i'm not sure if he meant from alcohol or the white substance that was in his nose from our first encounter (and YES I am applying he was using drugs on the clock due to his erratic behavior). This second "staff" member didn't help the situation at all and seemed to not care about my concerns. While walking out, yet ANOTHER "staff" member said "we do that to everybody". So now I am disgusted with the fact that either the manager is okay with his/her "staff" being rude to customers OR whether this attitude is taught to them. Either way, I am VERY disappointed with my treatment at this bar and I will never go here again. read more

Were in from out of town to watch a kid's sporting event. Used reviews to find this place and weren't sure when we pulled in if it was even open for business. Asked the female bartender we saw, who didn't even say "Hi" when we came in (we were the ONLY people in there) if it was indeed open an received a curt, "Yup." We looked around and realized it might not serve food and asked her to clarify for us... Received an even more curt, "Nope!" Having been a server and in several customer oriented jobs I would never have considered speaking to a customer - especially one who would be leaving a tip - with that kind of attitude. My husband and I had thought we'd just stay for a beer until that second answer and we just left. **Note to the rude bartender... You will make more money if you're friendly and engaging. Try that and see how it works... You may be really surprised. We have fun with our servers and leave 25% to those who are fun with us back... Attitude and rudeness? Not such a good tip. To manager or owner if is one there: BE ENGAGED: if you see dirty glasses on table, wipe it off, having to watch new potential customers wipe down own table is unacceptable while you sit on ass with friends and drink. To owner: get rid of valet parking, this is ridiculous for a bar this size, and runs off potential customers, who drive thru, then leave. Talk to neighbour businesses on Brittmoore maybe work something out with them parking wise after 5pm, it's better than parking down Timber Oak only to come back and find car or truck broken into. Upside? This place has lots of potential. Try stopping by on a off time and check it out, the taco truck parked in lot Rays Fiery Kitchen has some super food reasonably priced. The draft beer I had each time was nice & cold, a good thing. Wife had several long necks, again, have to actually flag down a bartender & hope they might wait on you. Went on a Saturday night to kill some time before a long night out, really just went to get a feel of the place. People there are friendly, the bartenders are cool, drinks are cheaper than a lot of other bars, and the live music was pretty good. Can't wait to go back. Great place and a great atmosphere, I came in here thinking it was going to be a regular joe get your beer and go place but it wasn't .i came here on opening day a while back and it had a decent numbers of customers coming in so I decided to come tonight. I got here after 1 and i got a corona bucket for 21 bucks and then I got two blue moon pitchers for 26. I had fun , met new people and watch some sports . They also had games like pool and a variety of music. They close at 2 and they give you a 15 minute to leave after which I like because you can chill before you have to go . I absolutely love this place. The staff is great. The owners are great. The beers are cold and the drinks are strong! There are a bunch of exciting upgrades happening too. My only complaint about this place is the fact they have several "do not leave your car here overnight" signs. To me, that's just crazy. It's a bar. In no way should they be promoting drinking and driving. If someone is too drunk to drive you those signs will make a person get behind the wheel when they shouldn't.
