Have tried the chicken, steak, beef, brisket, and shrimp tacos/burritos, have yet to be disappointed. Soft warm tortilla pressed in "Panini Style" press gives the burrito a crispy outer coating. I don't understand how others could complain about portions being too small- the burritos are the size and weight of a new-born baby! & We have ALWAYS had pleasant interactions with the staff... I wanted to love this place. I was so excited to try a taco salad with skirt steak. When I received it, the skirt steak looked nothing like steak. More like crumbled beef. Delivery system is atrocious. They don't accept credit cards through the computer which is strike one for me. I ordered my food at 4:30 on a Sunday though the computer. It said 45 minutes. An hour went by and I called and they said they never received the online order even though I had an emailed receipt saying the order was placed. I ordered nachos with just cheese black beans and guacamole to go, they threw a cheese sauce all over it and put tin foil in a cone shape on top by the time I got home every single chip in the bag was soggy and not even edible. I was excited that there was a new place to eat in Sayville since the town is great, but really lacks any decent restaurants.. so we ate at Texas Taco. Twice. Both times were basically terrible. Ordered a burrito, it was mostly filled with rice and beans and had no flavor whatsoever. I tried the nachos- gross- just yucky greasy melted cheese and oily beef on the chips. Ugh. The only decent thing I have had there is the chicken hard taco which came with just strips of chicken, some cheese, lettuce and tomato. At least it was edible. TRY GREEN CACTUS in OAKDALE. As a Tex-mex goes.... I give it a solid meh! I ordered the special something called Tres something or other.. Basically, it looks like a Taco Bell crunch wrap supreme. Sorry to say, Taco Bell has nothing to worry about when it comes to losing market share to Texas Taco. The ordering was weird. The special came with chips and a soda. I asked if could substitute a bottled water, the kind you can buy from street vendors for $1. She first said no then relented when I looked at her with puzzlement! Total for a crunchwrap supreme, small tasteless chips and salsa that I had to request.. $ 12.98 with tax!! What???? Definitely overpriced. The crunchwrap came out as a single blob of food. A little imagination in presentation would have made a difference. The aforementioned chips and salsa was solidly mediocre.. Salsa was extremely watery.. See pic. The crunch wrap had no crunch. By the time I got to the middle of the crunchwrap blob.. The two hard shells had gone flaccid. Maybe I picked the wrong item, but nothing about this lunch meal would make me come back. They forget something in my order every time. Burritos are just a ton of rice and almost none of the chicken or whatever else you ask for.

This is definitely a good place, it's prices are pretty reasonable. The chicken tacos are very good. We weren't a huge fan of the ground beef tacos though, they were lacking flavor. We like their guacamole but it's missing tomatoes which would definitely make it a lot better. Their taco salad with chicken and chipotle aioli is delicious! March 9,2015-Monday We ordered enough for forty people for our local church's monthly Sunday luncheon. It was such a success due to Texas Taco. The delivery was exactly on time & the man who delivered the order was so helpful in the set up. We ordered chicken tacos, which were filled with chunky of chicken. The beef tacos were dripping with flavor. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp with more than enough croutons and shredded cheese and salad dressing. The generous number of salad plates and cutlery sets was useful, as well. There were people who had never tried tacos before and they were very enthusiastic about the flavor(s). We had a great time and Texas Taco was a large part of it. I've been there three other times for lunch and had good service and good food. And FYI, tacos are meant to be overflowing and not super-tidy. Just wash your hands before you eat, pour on the hot sauce and all will be well. read more

Wound up with taco soup in a soft shell. I went here with my boyfriend yesterday and we ordered the texas tacos and fire island tacos. It's a shame that they don't use a strained spoon to scoop their ingredients. We wound up with the water and sauce that rest in the bottom of the bins in our tacos, resulting in the the messiest/ most soggy tacos I've ever had. They poured as I was trying to eat it....making eating it with a fork the only way to actually eat it. It's an easy fix to get strained spoons for scooping. There are definitely better Mexican-american places in the area that I would rather give my business to. read more
