We did not order food, but our drinks were delicious. The small details make the difference between Texas Tail and the more touristy places - the nicely-sliced fruit garnish, the freshness of the mint, the friendly service (including remembering us from our first visit a month prior), and the elegantly-embossed TTD ice cube in my tasty Old Fashioned. This is the only distillery in Galveston and they do it all in-house. They have whiskey, vodka, and moonshine. I tried a Blueberry Pineapple Margarita. It was great! It also left me feeling great! My husband tried the Honey Hole. It was different, not bad, just different. The staff was very friendly. It is right on the Seawall, so you have a nice view looking out the windows. They have free snacks: pretzels and nuts, if you need to put a little something in your stomach. They have good specials. We will be back! read more

I took way too long to get here and already had a feeling I'd love it when I finally went... and I was right! The pictures and descriptions of their cocktails that I had previously seen looked beyond inviting... and just as suspected, they proved very inventive and delicious! If you're a cocktail-lover, there is something here for you - even though they don't have a run-of-the-mill "full" bar. They use what they make themselves, which is whiskey, vodka, and moonshine. My friend and I must've tried at least 6 cocktails between the two of us and each one was liquid heaven in its own way. It was a bit later in the night so we split a snack; the pork belly skewers. INCREDIBLE! I easily could've eaten two helpings on my own. I loved both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. We moved inside because it got gusty out, but we had fun playing the games outside for a little bit! They have giant "beer pong" that's really fun - and other giant games from your childhood. It's all very spacious yet cozy at the same time, which in my opinion is perfect. read more

I'm a BOI and had been living on the island up until two years ago. Ran into another islander at Spec's and she suggested the place so we went in to check it out. The whiskey was not very good except for the cinnamon whiskey. The moonshine was crazy sweet and I'm super sensitive to alcohol. We had some moonshine soaked cherries which were actually pretty good. I got a mixed drink made with the whiskey and it was delicious. The bartender was really nice and attentive and the place was clean. She suggested we get food from Mr Taco who had their menu posted. We got the ceviche and we were not disappointed. We went next door to order and pay and then they brought the food to us. The view of the ocean was great and we will give them another try to see if the liquor tastes better. read more

Texas Tail was so great! We went in for lunch and tried many different drinks and foods and every item was amazing. I ordered the cocojito (my personal favorite) and a #neverstopchasing. My husband had a couple different mules. I had a shot that tasted exactly like a key lime pie! We were able to bring our son and enjoy the games on the patio. We will be back! read more

We decided to check this little distillery out today in Galveston. I have to say they have a good product! It's the first ever Distillary on the island. We tried the all the moonshines they have apple, peach and black cherry , the vodka and bourbon. Our favorite was the apple moonshine and we decided to tried one of the drinks on the menu that had the apple moonshine in the drink- the apple margarita! One of the best margaritas I have ever had! I know what Galveston was missing: a local distillery! Well, not any more! For the last 6 months, Texas Trail has been making Whiskey (bourbon whiskey), vodka, and quite a selection of flavored moonshine. I got a 5-sample flight of whiskey & 4 moonshines today, and they were fun--a young whiskey (duh, new distillery) with lots of promise as it ages, and real-fruit-infused moonshine (OK, I'm not actually sure what moonshine is, but the 100-proof unflavored version made me understand the term 'white lightning.') I'm not a fan of flavored whiskey...pretty sure I never actually tried fruit-flavored moonshine before... But the black cherry was 'bursting with fruit flavor' (do I sound like a real reviewer lol?) I bought a bottle of it, and I'll check out their website recipes for drinks that go well made with black cherry moonshine. I didn't try the food, which they get from Mr Taco next door... But I'll be back for a craft cocktail & some tacos! read more

Let me first say I love the new location and they've really made it a great spot on the island for crowds of all ages. The signature drinks were good. I got the backfish something and my husband the double oh old fashion. While both good, we also tried the key lime pie shot and it didn't quite meet our specific tastes. We hadn't tried the food on this visit but my look forward to returning to try one day. Of course at no fault to them they were short staffed but the place maybe had a total of 5 groups. It wasn't particularly pleasant that every time the waitress walked past us she said "oh I forgot about y'all." Which I get when you're busy having it slip your mind but it doesn't come off very well when it's repeated often. We paid our tab (tipped 30% regardless) then still waited 30 mins past paying for the one shot we got to try together/split because "she forgot." We probably would've gotten out of there before they closed if not for ordering that last shot. This is not to be rude or blameful on the waitress, we never pushed, stopped her or were upset. It just didn't set us up doe the best experience. Again, we look forward to returning and trying more menu items and maybe sitting inside or at the bar for more efficient service read more

Checked out their location and it's far better than their old spot. They now have a food truck and big patio outside with comfy chairs. Have a few different drinks such as their Double Barrel OH Fashion and all were great. The Key Lime Pie shot was amazing. Tasted very similar to the Key Lime Pies I used to get when i lived in Key West. read more

We were in town for a day on vacation and having a beer across the street from the new location. This aroma keeps hitting us and telling us to follow our nose and locate the delicious BBQ that was slowly smoking across the street. We leave the bar and head over. It turns out the new location doesn't open until 5/24/21. We have a few laughs with a few of the family members that own/work there. We were lucky enough to get a sample of the brisket. OMG!!! No BBQ sauce, falling apart as you pick it up and sooo moist. Best BBQ we had our whole trip in Texas. We continue our chat and get invited in to tour the new place and get another sample (this time ribs and fries). Also sampled a little whiskey. Best people, best BBQ, best time we had in Galveston and Texas as a whole. I'd come back just for this experience. read more

This place is great!!! We were in Galveston for the week and stopped by twice, once just for drinks and a second time for drinks and food. Their liquor selection may be small but everything we had was top notch. You can't go wrong with the 3-or-5 flight. We had the 3-drink flight on our first visit and the 5-drink flight the second time. We figured since we were getting something to eat we could drink a little more. So, between the two of us we probably tried about 10 or 12 different liquors, and they were all excellent. We bought three bottles to bring home. I just made a dirty martini with the 100 proof Seawall Shine and it tasted just like I thought it would. If you're looking for a great local distillery, this is the place to go. read more

Not only do they have an awesome cocktail menu, they have amazing food as well. The salad with smoked chicken and turkey was phenomenal. I had the pulled pork slider which was fantastic and the chicken and sausage slider looked amazing. My absolute favorite on the plate was the French fries! I can honestly say they are the best I have ever had. read more

Texas Tail Distillery begin in November of 2018 and has been thriving as a great hang out spot for any day of the week! We started our business with only one product, Texas Tail Vodka. After years of hard work, we were finally able to open the distillery on the beautiful Seawall in Galveston, Tx. Along with the opening of Texas Tail Distillery, we added two new products; Coastline Whiskey and Southern Marsh Moonshine. Come out and spend your evening with us!

I was visiting NYC a few months earlier and went to a place that was wildly considered to have the best bagels in the city. They were perfectly fine but not really remarkable. But GBC served the kind of bagels we were still thinking about the next day. I think it was the softness that really separated them. Said softness was easier to detect from the snickerdoodle bagels we ordered with strawberry and honey butter cream cheese. Both were no doubt 5-stars. But for my "main course" was the Pelican Island, which was a hodgepodge of deliciousness all crammed betwixt two blueberry bagels. I really enjoyed it, but if I returned for a second visit, I would order something else only because there were like ten other things I wanted to try. By the way, I also enjoyed stealing a few bites of my wife's ham, egg and cheese bagel. Earlier I said "if I returned for a second visit", and I'd like to correct the record. We will 100% be returning for a second visit. We might even go as far as a visit here being an excuse for why we need to come back to Galveston a few months from now.

My only regret is not ordering another breakfast bagel to take on the road. The shop offers a few indoor seats along with outdoor seating, which is a nice option if the weather is good. On the day we visited it was raining and gloomy and the patio was still full. The only downside to our visit was the rude male employee at the front counter. Thankfully, the female cashier who helped us was sweet, welcoming, and friendly, which helped make the overall experience a great one. I would absolutely recommend Galveston Bagel Company again and again. This property is a remodeled motel that has been transformed into a really charming boutique hotel. They did an incredible job with the design and atmosphere. It feels trendy, relaxed, and unlike anywhere else in Galveston in my opinion. We arrived Friday night and had an amazing dinner at The Fancy. On Saturday, we spent the entire day at the pool enjoying drinks and appetizers, and on Sunday morning we grabbed breakfast tacos at the bar before heading back to Houston. From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm welcome from the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Any questions we had or small issues that came up were answered and resolved right away which made the whole experience feel effortless! The service throughout our stay was great and the food and drinks were just as good. One thing we couldn't stop talking about was how comfortable the pillows were. We slept amazinggggg! We were in bed pretty early each night but we were woken up both nights by noise from neighboring rooms. It sounded like people coming in late and moving around. You can definitely hear doors opening and closing, cabinets shutting, and general hallway noise, etc. It wasn't a huge deal for me since I can usually fall back asleep easily but it's something worth mentioning for lighter sleepers. We stayed in a double queen balcony room which was spotless and had plenty of space for both of us. The balcony itself was a little awkward because it overlooks the pool area and since its a small hotel it felt like you were practically hanging out with everyone at the pool when you stepped outside. Next time I probably wouldn't pay extra for the balcony. The pool was clean, the atmosphere was great, and they played fun music all day. The only downside was drink service. Most of the time we had to go inside to order drinks ourselves. Someone did come take our order poolside once but it wasn't consistent. There was live music on the rooftop both Friday and Saturday night which was such a nice touch, especially around sunset. Parking was a little tricky because the hotel was busy when we arrived for the live music but we got lucky with a spot close by. The guy who checked us in let me know he would go out there and help me find a spot if I was not able to find one so although we didnt end up needing him, it was cool of him to offer. Overall, this hotel is so hip, cute, and unique. It honestly feels like you're not even in Texas. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and stylish place to stay in Galveston.

Positives first: 1. Great location, right across from the beach 2. Aesthetic lobby, gorgeous decor 3. Charming pool, well maintained 4. Helpful staff, very kind 5. Complimentary beach club chairs and umbrellas - really a dynamic differentiator! 6. AMAZING rooftop bar with ocean view and incredible live music - truly the savior of stars for this review.... Now onto the negatives: 1. The entire lobby smells very strongly of dog pee. To the point where I walked in and went "woof! is there a dog in here?". Sure enough, there is an adorable old man doggy (that perhaps belongs to the owner?) that resides in the lobby. Really a fun idea IF he is let out to urinate!! Unfortunately there was yellow dog pee stains under the stairs, and the scent was unmistakable. Immediately turned me off on first impression. 2. A number of the provided bath towels were threadbare and stained. Again, an easy to solve issue, so baffling that towels that are thin and fraying at the edges and streaked are still in the laundry rotation. 3. SMOKE ALARM BATTERY WENT OFF AT 4AM. Luckily front desk staff was extremely responsive and resolved the issue in ten minutes. I asked why the hotel didn't change batteries a month before expiration date like most hotels do to avoid the battery dying in the middle of a guests stay, and was informed it must not be something the new owners were aware of. 4. The A.C. units can not keep up with the Texas heat / coastal humidity. The room temp, per the unit, did not go below 80*F all weekend despite being set to 70. To be fair, it felt more like 76*F, but that's still fairly warm to sleep in my opinion! Asked staff about it, and was told "yeah, we always have AC issues, the new units can't keep up..." so something they're aware of. 5. Parking lot is not enforced. That means anyone can use the Lucine parking lot for beach access, and actual hotel guests are simply out of luck for parking. It may say "towing enforced" but excited beachgoers and front desk alike informed us they don't actually check it. It was a bit obnoxious circling forever to find parking when the hotel allegedly provides it. But not the end of the world! Again, the above items would warrant a one star review if the pool, rooftop bar, complimentary beach club chairs and umbrella, and kind staff weren't in consideration. I think these issues are FIXABLE!! And encourage owners to hop to it. But at present, the overall experience gives the vibe of a new owner with restaurant/bar experience who has taken on a vanity project with no idea how to actually run a hotel re: guest experience.

Fair warning, everything in the pastry case looks fresh and homemade, so prepare to treat yourself. Shoutout for their emphasis on vegan and gluten-free offerings. Visually the avocado toast had me worried, but everything bagel seasoning has a way of curing all wrongs, if those "wrongs" in question are bland food. I found myself happily gobbling it down after a few initially hesitant bites. The rice krispy was fine, and I'm looking forward to warming the cookie and reporting back. While I'll go for a more traditional coffee next time, I'll certainly be back. I'm hoping for a smile, greeting, or positive energy from the staff next go around. Fingers crossed.

I live in Galveston and try to eat local and drink local. If you are in town looking for a great place to have a few drinks and some food Texas Tail Distillery is your place. I meet with friends to have lunch once a month and we try different places and Texas Tail was our choice, The food was super good, the deviled eggs were the bomb! The drinks made with their own liquor outstanding! They have bottles available and can infuse them with various flavors to make your experience at home as good as in the bar/restaurant. The manager and owners were the best and I highly suggest you stop in to eat, drink and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

This is a hidden jewel. I happen to have lunch on a Monday with friends and had the best meal. Service was quick and the best Bloody Mary. Of course the heat added is up to you. The bourbons were both very good, though the cast strength will leave you with some warmth in your chest. All of their cocktails were good that we tried,, and we did get to try at least half of their menu. The Blaxican food truck was out there too, and they currently operate exclusively from Gentle Ben's, they were in Georgia, and have since moved their business here after the previous owner retired. Keyna is running it now, and she was a delight! Highly recommend their food, and you can catch my review on their page. Overall really enjoyed this distillery! Staff was great! The place has a very comfortable and southern country ambience to it. Service was fantastic. Plenty of parking. And they do have outdoor seating if you happen to be out in nice weather.
