Waited 55 minutes for our dinner. Manager said sorry I'll take care of it. Then she disappeared... finally we left....

We heard great things about the TexAZ Grill so we thought we would give them a try. On the positive side, the service was exceptional. The hostess greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and we were seated shortly thereafter. Our waitress showed up shortly after being seated and took our drink order while we looked over the menu. We started out with an order of the loaded potatoes as an appetizer. They came with both sour cream and ranch dipping sauces and were very tasty, although they could have used a bit more bacon bits. My partner ordered the prime rib and I ordered the smaller portion of the house specialty - the chicken fried steak. The portion sizes were very generous. However, my partner found the Smokey flavor of the prime the overwhelming. I was disappointed by my entree. The breading on the steak was doughy at best detracting from the steak and gravy. The mashed potato's were good - definitely had that home-cooked taste. The parking lot out front where we parked does not accommodate larger vehicles and was a really tight squeeze in our compact car. My wife and I happened to be in the area and she is from Texas and appreciates a good chicken fried steak. Our search turned up Texaz Grill. What a great find. We could not stop fawning over our food. She of course ordered the chicken fried steak and it was huge and delicious. I know. I had to taste hers! We ordered a side of cole slaw; so delicious. And we both ordered the mashed potatoes and gravy. We also were served a true homemade biscuit. It was so darn good. For my order, I got the catfish. This catfish was huge! It was amazing. She got sweet tea and I got unsweetened tea. Our server was great. She provided that down home flare. Great manners, personality, and pleasantly attentive. She made us feel like she knew us for years. The ambiance was great. A sort of old style down home country bar with nostalgic pictures plastered everywhere. It was so darn cool. I ordered a slice of pecan pie to go. I'm a pecan pie critic and I would give it a 6/10. That's fine though. I'm going to try the peach cobbler the next time. This place is amazing. I was looking up steakhouses near me and found this place on Yelp. The food is really, really good (I got the 'chicken fried goodness' sampler platter, chicken fried steak, chicken, and pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn). I got coleslaw and a biscuit on the side. My server, Mary, was very friendly and helpful. The food is served in HUGE portions. This goes for the hot fudge sundae also, which might be the biggest and best value sundae I've ever had. It's the little things here that stand out: not one, not two, but three different servers talking to me and helping me at various points. A table caddy with every kind of hot sauce, honey, and other thing you could want. Them bringing me out a sample of one of the meat dishes I was thinking about so I could try it. Tried Texaz Grill again after Covid. I was in the area and thought about those Chicken Fried Steaks. I arrived at about 11:30 and there were three full tables. Texaz Grill sported the full Texas decor and country music I had remembered. I ordered their famous Chicken Fried Steak, which came to $14.95 plus tax and tip. Texaz Grill has been known for their huge CFS and my plate was overflowing with a crispy CFS, corn and mashed potatoes. Sadly, about 1/3 of my CFS was just batter. The gravy was very pedestrian, so, between that and the excessive batter to meat ratio, I couldn't say that it was my 'best in the world' CFS. read more

Being from the south, we like to think that we know good country cooking and this place has it all. Boyfriend took me here recently as he was watching a friend's pet in the area and TEXAZ was one of the options he gave me. Good thing as I had just finished a gym challenge and wanted a good meal to celebrate. It wasn't busy when we arrived so we had choice of where to sit. While the menu isn't terribly extensive, it was definitely hard to pick what to order. Their service was quick and she basically picked my meal for me since I was so indecisive. On Halloween we called to make sure they were open normal business hours and the girl we talked to said yes, open until 9. We got there around 8:15. We tried to pull open the doors and they were locked... Understandable if they want to close early for a holiday but, we had called to check so it was a super disappointing experience to have went out of the way to call and check, drive there, and then been lied to. Doubly disappointed because I had been dreaming about the food all evening and had excitedly told the neighbors where we were going after festivities. Called the next day to talk to a manager because I was so dissatisfied and the first one we talked to was very understanding and said the manager on duty the night before would give us a call later to make it right. He never did, so I called the restaurant back later that evening thinking perhaps they had forgotten and asked to speak to a manager and the girl on the phone asked if this was about the Halloween incident... Why would another staff member who wasn't a manager know about this unless they had been talking about it to other staff??? I made sure to only tell a manager about the experience. It's very disrespectful that the staff had been talking about us... very unprofessional. Nonetheless was then transferred to the manager who had been working the night previously. Told him the experience and he couldn't have sounded more bothered to listen to me. He also lied to me. Said that they had locked the doors at 8:30 bc it was slow. I remember checking the time on my phone. I don't go to restaurants 30 mins before closing unless it's to go because I work in the industry. It was 8:20 when I looked at my phone after trying the door because we had a quick smoke before trying to go inside. All I got was a, "sorry we disappointed you". Normally when a restaurant makes a mistake on their end they offer some sort of apology gesture to promote a good relationship and we received nothing on the promise that they would make it right. Overall very very bad customer service perhaps the worst I've gotten in the valley. So sad because the food is so good but it was not an enjoyable experience to be made to feel like a burden, the staff talking about the experience when they should have never known, have been lied to twice, and then received nothing after everything to bring our business back after such a poor experience. I think this is our third time here. We know a few people who always rave about this place, and we keep thinking maybe it will get better. Maybe we were there on an off night. But I must conclude after this visit that this isn't really the case. Some folks clearly do love it, but I am totally underwhelmed. Our table this time ordered the southern pork chop, chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, and smoked prime rib. Some of this we had previously, some was new. First the chicken-fried steak. I believe I commented last time that it was mostly breading, and not very flavorful. That is still the case. Without the gravy it has no flavor at all. I would expect some from the breading, but it just wasn't there. Denny's makes a better one. I am not kidding. The southern pork chop is basically a chicken-fried pork chop. This one was pretty good because there was more meat than breading, and so I could taste the pork. The breading and gravy worked well with it, but it was still lacking any real flavor to distinguish it from other restaurants. The chicken-fried chicken was similar to the pork. More meat, and you could taste the meat, but the "chicken-fried" aspect is totally lacking. The smoked prime rib was easily the best dish we ordered. The au jus was a bit salty, but it was a very smoky and flavorful hunk of meat. Portions are reasonably large, though for some reason they have reduced the size of their plates. We compared to our old photos and it was obvious. Seems silly to me to cram the same amount of food onto a smaller plate. The "fries" were actually large chunks of potato that were not seasoned in any way. The outer bit was fried, but the rest was like a baked potato. The mashed potatoes were just mashed. No garlic or anything. The cajun seasoning on the table helps. And the salads were not very popular among those who ordered them. So all in all a very expensive, and very disappointing dining experience. We have their punch cards, and they're half full. But we have no plan to return and so will likely just toss the cards in the trash. read more

First of all we were out here on a baseball vacation/ tournament, My husband loves his prime Rib Dinners but I was not about to eat at a big chain restaurant when you can do that any time! so I yelped prime Rib/steak house and this lil Local Gem popped up!!! Well let me just say this Trumps any steak place!!! and if I lived here this would definately be our spot instead of any other place! Oh and get this all their steaks are hand cut in house FRESH USDA ALL DAY EVERY DAY! Sides were delicious as well and those biscuits yum!!! Found this little gem on Yelp. I LOVE a good country fried steak, so I had to try it. Came in with my family and were promptly greeted and were seated within 5 mins. Loved the fun decor. Our server Devin was very friendly and explained the menu to us when I mentioned it was our first time here. Our drinks came out promptly followed by our salads and BISCUITS! We had chicken fried steak, (which by the way they have the very best chicken fried steak you could ever experience and the quantity so huge it will serve two people two meals!) make sure to ask for extra gravy to take home so you have enough for your leftovers! Comes with skin on mashed potatoes, And a really nice fresh salad with chopped up green olives and ranch dressing. We also had corn, fried shrimp, amazing coleslaw, homemade biscuits, and for appetizers we had fried okra with an amazing dipping sauce and macaroni and cheese! Then...
