A friend asked me to find some food with gluten free food and a Yelp search popped this business on my screen. After ordering here a few times, she recommended that I try them. One Monday morning, I joined my friend (and took her welcome and good advice) in ordering a couple things to try. My lunch order was the pad kee mow with beef (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ehJ3Rk5YiQDzWyniCRaiag&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); the ingredients were very good and it was very nice to have such a variety of vegetables (broccoli, red bell peppers, jalapeno, and onions) that were cooked perfectly, still crisp and crunchy, yet not overly oily. Also, liked that they used flank steak for the beef though I would have preferred a softer cook to make them more tender. Only minor issue is I wished that there was more of the XO sauce or flavoring agent to this dish as, for my 2nd to last bite, I bit into this umami ball of flavor; would have been nice if it was more evenly spread in the dish. This was my go to Thai spot so I'm so sad to be writing this review. I've been ordering from this place regularly for the past 2 years. I always loved the food, I still do. The flavors are great and always hits the spot for me. However, recently they've started making their portions smaller. Which I understand the price of things is going up so you have to cut back on certain things. But the price has gotten higher with less food! The last time I ordered, they halved their portion of Kao soi, specifically the broth. Which, fine I get it. But I just ordered from them tonight and when I received my food, the portion of noodles I got was actually laughable, not even enough to feed a toddler. It wasn't even a handful of noodles. The real kicker though was the beef I paid $3 extra for in my already $18 half portion of kao soi. There was 3 pieces of meat in the entire dish! I paid $25 for kao soi that had 3 pieces of meat in it! Beyond disappointed because I loved this spot, but I won't be ordering anymore. Such a shame read more

Decent spot for a quick Thai fix, but a bit hit-or-miss. Some dishes had good flavor, especially the basil-based ones, but others felt a little bland or inconsistent. Service was fast and convenient, which works well if you're in a rush, but there's not much attention to detail in presentation or overall experience since it's more of a grab-and-go setup. Ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken ($17.95). It was a solid lunch portion with a good amount of chicken. However, it was not as savory and sweet as expected. The added bok choy threw me off a little but it was still crunchy and made a decent filler. I appreciated the Thai Iced Tea ($5) was packaged neatly inside a to-go box for safe delivery and was not watered down. The store kept delaying the order and telling the drivers that it will come out in 3 minutes while in reality it took about an hour and 20 minutes to be ready. One driver cancelled and another was just waiting forever. Then the food arrived cold, missing the condensed milk for the roti which is the whole point of roti but this is the second time this happened with the same place. In return I got a $2.75 refund from door dash. Also, I've ordered steamed vegetables together with my food and it arrived without any seasoning and still with the cooking water. I ordered through Uber Eats, So this is going to be short and right to the point. The deal of curry lovers combo for $16.25 I though was pretty decent. You get two half portion of two different curries + rice and protein of your choice (some at extra cost). I've also ordered Isaan papaya salad with salted egg which I though was pretty decent as well, even though Isaan food are supposedly to be spicy and pungent. This was not and the color was too light to be called Isaan Tam Mak Hong. If you are vegetarian/ vegan you'll love this place. Recently ordered pad kee mao and the spicy basil fried rice and it was so flavorful. I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review for them since we have been grubhubbing for quite some time now. I can't speak for ambiance but this place definitely hits the spot. I don't think it can get any better when you are ordering take out. I really do believe that with Thai food, you got to dine it. Idk why it's just a quirk maybe. Also to be noted that this is one of the few places to serve khao soi ( which o believe is a northern Thailand dish?) anyway I've tried khao a couple of times but not from basil cart. I found this spot on Uber Eats, and it was surprisingly pretty good! I ordered the basil chili with beef and the curry lover's combo (green curry + yellow curry). Everything was pretty tasty and flavorful, although the beef was just a little bit dry. I can also tell that this place is able to keep prices low by not fully filling up the containers and by using cheaper veggies in the curries (tons of onions in the yellow curry). A new hidden gem in SF, Basil Cart will leave you on a flavour journey to be remembered! I ordered from Grubhub, and this restaurant was a new option and I'm happy to support new businesses! Other reviews are pretty accurate, as I had a great experience ordering here. They currently have specials on Grubhub which enticed me to try them out but for the quality and flavour it's well worth it regularly. The delivery was timely and the owner included a hand written note, which was a nice touch and shows how much effort they put into their business! I tried the Pad Thai, Green Curry and Yellow Curry. The Pad Thai was very flavourful all around for some authentic flavour. It came with some peanuts and lime for garnish and was very fresh! Had some green onion and beansprouts as well, which I would have liked more of but not a big deal. The dish was also lined with a leaf (not sure what it's called) but also adds to the authenticity. The Yellow Curry had a lot of unique flavourness and rich body. Chunks of carrots and potatoes permeate the dish for some added richness as well which balances out the curry nicely. The Green curry is probably my favourite, as it also had a very rich body and taste as well. The bamboo shoots give a nice crispness to balance out the thick curry, but the flavour is the amazing point. A slight sweetness provides an upside to every bite, and combined with the slight spiciness and texture of the eggplant gives an awesome curry that's not too heavy and should go well with just about anything! The rice was perfect to my preference as well, as it was not soggy so that it goes well with curry. Very fragrant and fresh! All the portions sizes were great, so if you're looking for a nice flavourful and filling meal to satisfy your Thai cravings this is the place! read more

My only complaint is the selection interface for menu items - the thing you order is like the base, exclusive of proteins and the like. Which makes sense I suppose, but it's not clear if my selecting $2 for extra veggies in lieu of protein led to extra veggies or not. But overall, good food. I was having a really bad day last week, so out of the kindness of her heart one of my best friends doordashed me some Avocado Fresh Summer Rolls and Khao Soi from Basil Cart. I think the summer rolls were the best I've ever had. They were incredibly plump, and the peanut sauce that accompanied them was also very thick (in a good way). The Kao Soi was delicious, but then again I don't think I've ever had bad Kao Soi. It's easily my favorite thai dish. Basil Cart was the pick me up I needed to get through a long, tough, rainy day. I decided to walk to the place and eat there and ended it in the Mission area plagued with drug addicts on opioids who surrounded me . I found the place with Google map but found out that you cannot seat down and eat but do take out only . I was disappointed. I will never forget how the drug addicts were in the neighborhood. Truly artisan; hand-made local Thai food. Ordered the green curry chicken over jasmine rice; perfect comfort food meal for my work day on a cold December afternoon. I loved the addition of pumpkin and fried eggplant. YUM. I'm loving all these delivery restaurants that are popping up these days! I've had SO much Pad Kee Mow for the past year and a half because of how great it is from Basil Cart. I workout and reward myself with pkm. I get sad and cheer myself up with pkm. It's been there for me alright! Basil Cart is very vegan and gluten-free friendly. A lot of dishes are made that way by default. It is one star short because the other dishes on the menu are just ok (Pad Thai is mostly noodles which lacked in variety in all my bites, curries can be slim on ingredients, Kao Soi -- although also a good noodle dish, often arrive as the non-vegan version even when specified differently). I also really liked it when Basil Cart uses compostable takeout wares, but it only happens very occasionally. I love this place in general and cannot wait to tell my friends about it when they visit. We used to order from this restaurant all the time. As a vegan household it was our go to option for Thai, but sadly twice now they've substantially let us down. One order was missing one of the dishes entirely which when you're trying to feed two kids is a major problem, and then we tried once more and both the green curry and Basil eggplant were quite frankly gross. The sauces were watered down, ingredients missing or wildly over cooked, and we ended up wasting $50 and throwing both dishes in the compost. We are sadly crossing this place off our list. read more

This is the best Thai food I've had since I've moved to the city 15 years ago. You can taste the quality and freshness of ingredients. It doesn't taste like it comes from a can. Plus the owner put this cute post it note on my bag thanking me for my order. The pumpkin curry was awesome and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. Even the chicken was amazing, and not some cheap chicken. The green curry was awesome and just like the pumpkin curry in terms of quality. The flavor was phenomenal. Pretty good sized portions, but not huge. If you want quality Thai food, I think this is the place in SF to go. I've tried many Thai restaurants around here, and nothing has been as good as this. The ingredients taste fresh and the flavors are fantastic. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly which is a huge plus. The cons: I'm a little worried about cross contamination because the kitchen isn't dedicated to once restaurant - but I don't know how the inside operations work.
