Amazing place! No reservations needed it was pretty empty inside. Good: - Super amazing food - loved the pad Thai and the coconut noodle soup was similarly really good - Service was great very nice staff but the food did take a bit to come out - I liked the platha a lot - The place is super cute and homey - Prices were good Bad: - The dessert was just ok the semolina cake was a bit too soft and tasted a bit like dirt Overall would come again! The food is so clean and healthy

We came here last min after craving some Burmese food. This place has some seating inside near a Main Street, that doesn't seem to be super busy. The food came out fresh and the waiter was very nice. Super delicious when you see craving this type of cuisine . Thank you for having us. 4/5 cleanse 4/5 service 5/5 food ( good portions)

I'm a huge fan of Burmese food so was excited to try New Burma. Unfortunately my experience fell short of my expectations :( I found all the food to be bland and lacking those strong flavors I get from other restaurants. The Blackpepper Chicken was sooo bland and all the veggies didn't help. The Fiery Vegetable With Tofu was also bland, same for the veggies. Not fiery at all. And the coconut rice was alright, but had almost no coconut flavor. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things but I was really disappointed in the food quality.

Ordered for takeout via Uber Eats on a Sunday evening, and it was so delicious. A cozy spot next to a good amount of offices, probably very popular during the week for lunch. We ordered: - Tea Leaf Salad with Lettuce: So crunchy and so many different flavors and textures. A must order! - Platha with Coconut Curry Chicken Dip: the platha was buttery and flaky and chewy and paired so well with the curry. Delicious! - Eggplant with Garlic Sauce: you can't go wrong with saucy fried eggplant. This was a great flavor explosion. - Mint Chicken: A deceivingly simple dish but was so tasty and had a great punch of flavor despite looking simple. No wonder it's one of their most popular dishes. - Coconut Rice: I could inhale multiple bowls of this. Light, fluffy, savory, and sweet all in one bowl. Service was quick, food was ready when we got there! Really great Burmese spot.

    Lamb that was beef

Food was delicious. Minus one star because we ordered lamb and it was obviously beef. Just be honest and say you don't have lamb.

Visiting the design center stores and found this lovely hidden jewel! Interior not at all fancy, but clean and practical. Cashier also served and was very nice. Had lunch that was so good I bought food to go for dinner. Recommend the fiery shrimp, eggplant, platha and mint chicken (took home and traveled very well).

Lemongrass tofu....but it was missing the okra, broccoli, and cabbage.

I ordered the tea leaf salad and the lemongrass tofu to go. From the menu, the lemongrass tofu dish should have: "Tofu, with chili, garlic, soy sauce, broccoli, cabbage, okra, snap peas, red bell pepper, lemongrass and basil." When I arrived home, I found it was missing the cabbage, okra, and broccoli. That was a little disappointing. See my photo to see only tofu, red bell pepper, and snap peas. I asked for the dish to be spicy and the lemongrass flavor was light - it tasted more like a spicy basil. The dish also had a layer of grease on it. The tea leaf salad was tasty and they offer cabbage, lettuce, or half half. The amount of tea leaf dressing was great! I'd come back for the salad.

Good solid Burmese food, the waiter is super nice and friendly, worth a try in the area! Food: 4/5. We got platha with chicken + coconut curry, tea leaf salad and their signature shrimp dish. All of the dishes are amazing and delicious. The tea leaf salad is very refreshing -- although it tasted like a normal salad. Their platha with the curry dip is 5/5, super delicious. The platha is very flakey and fragrant and the curry dip is a must have! Vibes: 4/5. We got seated right away and the waiter was very welcoming. You can hear the chefs cook at the back in the kitchen, which is quite cool!

I've had better Burmese food. We walked here on a Sunday afternoon so didn't have to deal with parking but it can be challenging around the area. Before I talk about the food, let's talk about their bathroom because it was disgusting. Urine was all over the floor and toilet seat, and the toilet was not flushed. I would've excused the dirty bathroom if it was busy but the whole restaurant was empty before and after we dined in. Service: 10/10. Waiter was quick, friendly, and efficient. Food: Platha with coconut chicken curry - 3.5/5. Coconut curry was really delicious and chicken was really soft and tender. Platha pieces were crispy but too greasy. Nan gyi thok - Lacked flavor and depth. It was soooo bland. Not enough sauce so it was dry and sticky. Didn't offer lemon slices like other places do. This was a pretty disappointing dish. Burmese shrimp curry - Shrimps were over-cooked so they were very rubbery. Lacked flavor and depth as well. I couldn't identify what the curry was supposed to taste like lol. Also, the dish came out to be room temperature instead of sizzling hot but the plate was hot so it might have been microwaved tbh. Burmese milk tea - Loved the flavor but it was way too sweet. Too much condensed milk for sure.

The restaurant itself made a great first impression. It was clean, organized, and even had a nice little area set up for social media photos. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the presentation. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Greek chicken. The chicken was dry, and it was obvious the seasoning had been sprinkled on after it was cooked instead of being cooked into the meat. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower. The Brussels sprouts looked perfectly crispy, which is exactly how they should have been, but they were soft and soggy instead. To make matters worse, the sauce was packed inside the same container, so the steam made them even soggier while also heating the small plastic sauce container inside. The fried cauliflower was equally disappointing. It looked crispy because of its golden brown color, but there wasn't a bit of crunch. Instead, it was oddly firm, almost al dente, making it feel more undercooked than fried. I also tried the garlic chicken soup, expecting something similar to Avgolemono. Instead, it was a thin, watered down broth with the same dry chicken pieces from the Mediterranean Bowl tossed in. The pita bread served with it was honestly the worst part of the meal and the only thing I threw away. Nothing was completely inedible, but for more than $60 worth of takeout, I expected food that matched the clean, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, this experience fell well short of that, and it's not a place I'll be returning to.

I just felt like some of the entree prices were overpriced. On top of that-I wasnt aware of the 5% SF "tax". Other than that-pretty happy all around. This was a great appetizer to share between 2-4 people. The tofu is soft and chewy while the pineapple is crunchy and fresh. The glaze on top is slightly spicy but pairs well with the sweet pineapple. The portion is a good size for an appetizer and the tofu makes it feel like a substantial dish. - roasted cauliflower (8/10): charred cauliflower florets on a bed of sikil pak topped with pickled onions and cilantro. This was my favorite of the dishes we ordered. The sikil pak is a unique spread that I had not seen before. The main ingredients are pumpkin seeds, tomato, and habanero, with the texture of a hummus but the flavor of a salsa. It is also a good size to share as an appetizer between 2-4 people. - garlic butter udon (6/10): udon coated in garlic butter with macadamia nut crumbles on top. This sounded good but was a bit of a letdown after the appetizers. I was hoping for more unique flavors or textures. An addition of something fresh like a pesto drizzle or roasted tomatoes may have added a boost of flavor and color. - kale walnut pesto rigatoni (7/10): rigatoni with kale and walnut pesto topped with blistered cherry tomatoes. I liked pasta better than the udon. The pesto was creamy yet fresh from the pistachio and lemon. The tomatoes added color and sweetness. The portion is good to serve one person or shared when mixed with other dishes. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes, though I would order more of the appetizers and I liked them better than the entrees.

Regardless, Base Camp was awesome and a solid restaurant in the Mission. My friend and I arrived impromptu on a Monday night, surprised to see a crowded house; luckily, we snagged a table in the corner. We ordered the tandoori octopus, pork belly bhutwa, and goat curry which were all good. The tandoori octopus was fork tender and delicately spiced. The pork belly had vaguely Indian and vaguely Chinese flavor profiles, without lending itself to either side of the fulcrum. Kinda masala mixed with a bit of mala, which makes sense given Nepal's location. The goat curry was the only dish, albeit good, that didn't quite stand out for me. Service is also incredible. Every time a dish arrived, servers graciously explained how best to indulge, a welcomed gesture for this Nepalese novice. Would come again!

That said, I also tried one of the curry dishes my first time, and was thoroughly unimpressed. It was bland and I wish it had more spice and texture. I will definitely enjoy the noodle dishes again in the future though! Thanks also appreciate the cute interior, and the vibe is nice if I want to take friends out for a casual evening meal.
