I tried many times in this restaurant for takeout and never got disappointment with the quality of the food. But they do poor service while taking order on the phone. They do mistakes in understanding the order, so we need to be very careful and make sure they got the right order. The person who take the order never accept mistakes and she blame on the customer. Also I feel she is very rude in her behavior. I would recommend the management to educate her to change her attitude or to replace with some else if that didn't work. Thai cuisine is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Austin. It may not be the newest/hippest/trendiest Thai joint in town, but the flavors and prices are spot on. Pad Thai here is awesome. My GF loves their panang curry. Their Thai bbq pork dinner entree is pretty solid as well, although a little inconsistent. Their tuna tower appetizer is very tasty as well, although some people may complain that it's too heavy for a starter, which is a valid criticism and I can't disagree. But it is still very delicious nonetheless. Thai Tea and Thai iced coffees for $2 each in a large glass? Hell yeah. Thai tea being ridiculously priced is one of my biggest beefs with Thai restaurants, because regardless of how dumb I feel ordering a $4 glass of Thai tea that does not come with refills I STILL do it. Thai Cuisine is without a doubt in my top 3 casual restaurants I love to go to. This place is authentic, fresh, and igniting of the senses yet still affordable and casual. Let me cut to the chase on what I personally enjoy here though, cause there is a lot: Tom Yum and Tom Kha (spicy) soup are effing amazing. These soups will literally blow away your senses. I've never truly experienced lemongrass til I tried these dishes. They are exemplary dishes that show of the beauty of contrasting flavors in Thai Cuisine Gang Dang - Red Curry - Their red curry here is quite something. I can tell how fresh their vegetables are from this dish. A bite into the red pepers -- mmm -- divine. I usually ask for mine without pinapple though. Pad prik king - Green beans and spice. delicious! Pad Se Yue (with pork) This is noodle dish made with BIG FAT rice noodles and sweet/spicy kale. I love it for its simplicity and is oh so satisfying when I am ravenously hungry Go Go Go to the lunch buffet. Its a freaking amazing deal I don't know how they make money off of it. Basically, you get a buffet and 1 entry for a very affordable price. I strongly recommend Fridays as their selection changes every day of the buffet. Their Thai iced teas are an excellent treat. Its basically a red tea mixed with cream/evaporated milk. Be careful at lunch time if you specifically want a curry, their curry selection at lunch time changes every week day (as of writing this): Mon & Sat: Kang Dang (Red Curry) Spicy Red Curry, Coconut Milk, Bamboo Shoots, Pineapples, Tomatoes, Bell Peppers and Sweet Basil. Firstly, my gf and I love Thai food. After moving to Austin from the west coast we needed to find a new go-to spot. After trying a few restaurants, Thai Cuisine quickly rose to the top. Here's the low-down... We usually order 1-2x/week from them. So far, we have no major complaints after trying our regular go-to favs: curries, noodles, papaya salad, and spring / egg rolls. Only one dish (advertised loosely as a "garlic heavy" dish) was not to my liking but I chalk it up to personal preference. Here's why we keep coming back to this spot... Great portions. Very flavorful. Very consistent on execution. For heat aficionados, they do not skimp on the spice level...POW! They take care of their customers too... More recently, we had a little stay-in dinner + movie date planned but our delivery order got messed up. Understandably, it was a name mix up. It was a nightmare dealing with the delivery app (think soulless automated bot customer bip-bap-boop "support" and no immediate resolution to our predicament). Thankfully, the restaurant owner sympathized with our situation and stepped up to the plate (no pun intended) and made everything right. That's why we support small businesses. They listen. We really enjoyed our dinner here!! We had shrimp spring rolls served with peanut sauce as an appetizer. The rolls were delicious and fresh and the peanut sauce was amazing! My boyfriend ordered chicken pad thai and I ordered shrimp pad kee mao. We were both extremely pleased with our meals. They came out steaming hot and both dishes were delicious!! And the portions were very big, I have half leftover for lunch today!! Also I was extremely pleased that they put a lot of nice large shrimp in my dish. Went here for dinner and order the Tom Yum soup. It by far was the worse experience I've ever had with this food. The soups itself looked like it was scooped out of the toilet and placed in a pot. The brackish water based soup only had chicken. They didn't serve it with any of the vegetables. When talking with the owner / manager, he stated I didn't ask for the vegetables. He took it in the back and added the mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and cilantro. I paid for the meal and walked out. This is my second experience with Asian cuisine in Austin. We love this restaurant! Lunch is awesome: it's around $10 a plate and includes an all you can eat buffet of delicious soups, spring rolls, rangoons and more. It's a great deal! The first time we went here, we made the mistake of ordering the stuff "medium spicy." OMgeez! I eat spicy all the time, but this shiz was making our lips burn and we were sweating like nobody's business. So, on our return trip, we asked for mild spicy and it was just the right amount of spicy (I didn't have to pull a Goldilock's and try 3x). Their pad thai is the right texture but I think it would be better if they automatically add tofu + whatever protein you order. I think their pad thai can veer on the sweet side, but not enough to where I wouldn't eat it. We also like their spicy seafood stirfry. For $11 you get mussels, shrimp, scallops, and green beans. Yum! I wish the tom yum soup had straw mushrooms instead of button mushrooms, but the broth is good. Service is nice and if you keep your eyes peeled, they have coupons in the mailer for the north/nw neighborhood. read more

Many visits have gone by and it's time to update my Thai Cuisine review! Obviously I've been back, a lot. I haven't had better Pad Thai in Austin, so I usually can't help myself from getting it. Sometimes I can convince my other half to split red curry & pad thai and I'm in heaven!!! I haven't branched out much more than that, even though everything I see coming out of kitchen looks amazing. The red curry & pad thai are just so good! I like chicken with mine, but that's up to you. I've also had spring rolls, which are good, and Tom kha which is great! I'm pretty sure this is one of the best Thai spots in Austin, if it's just for its stellar job at getting the basic Thai dishes perfected. The only reason it's 4 stars from me is they seem a little big for their britches! My server had tables all over the restaurant and was taking to go orders. I had to get up and ask him for the check, which has sadly happened more than once here. They are just really busy and need more staff. It's too bad about the service sometimes, but I'll be back because it's just that good! read more

There is a complimentary appetizers bar that has soup and salad among other things. I tried the chicken potato soup (pretty good) and the vegetable tempura (onion rings and mushrooms, slightly crispy, but not hot - barely warm). What I really liked though, were the egg rolls and the spring rolls. Lucky for me, the egg rolls were freshly fried, so they were hot and crispy! For the main course, I had the Pad Thai with beef, "madly hot". The waitress even asked me if I was sure I wanted madly hot... Uh, yes :) When I finally dug in, I wouldn't rate it as madly, but it was still decently strong. Taste wise, not the best I've had, but still good. Personally not a big fan of the bean sprouts - I'll have to remember to ask for no sprouts next time. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and I'm glad I tried this place. It's a good deal too, thanks to the portion sizes and the unlimited appetizers bar. It's a little out of the way for me though, so I'm unsure if I'd come back, at least regularly. read more

I immediately left the restaurant, not even bothering to ask for a refund, figuring I'd just take the issue up with my credit card company rather than risk exposing myself to Covid because a cook can't be bothered to put a face mask on during a goddamn pandemic. Because of that, I waited even longer to get my appetizer. I ordered two entrees. Pad Thai and Mussamun Curry. Pad Thai is OK. Mussamun Curry tastes much better. Both dishes portions are big. We entered the busy restaurant... and waited... and waited... and waited... we were finally seated by the lunch salad buffet. This would be quite a good perk if they could keep the buffet stocked! The spring rolls with peanut sauce were great... but they kept running out of veggie tempura (I got one mushroom and one sweet potato, then they started making just onions and potato... ) and the pan fried dumpling, which was replaced with fried spring rolls. The fried spring rolls and sauce were good, as was the tempura and the sauce, but I wish they could have had the dumplings as well and kept a constant supply of the good fried veggies... and it just took them too long to replenish. The kiddos loved their chicken fried rice, and hubby liked his "special dish", teriyaki shrimp with noodles. I was disappointed that they didn't have red curry, it's a special that they only have on Sat & Mon. So I got the Spicy Kra Prow (Hot Basil) (Sauteed fresh ground chilies, garlic, onions, bell peppers, green beans, and basil) with beef. It was ok... way too dry. The beef was overcooked and there was barely any sauce. I had to douse my meal in soysauce to compensate for the lack of sauce. It also wasn't very spicy to me... I had to add hot sauce to it. Overall a decent meal, and the kids really enjoyed theirs, but I will probably try some other Thai restaurants before I come back to Thai Cuisine. read more

Mmmmmmmmm I'm always impressed with Thai Cuisine by their service, food quality, and selection. We've been coming here for over five years and I still find new dishes to try. The most impressive thing they offer is the daily lunch menu that includes soup and salad buffet. They offer lunch portions of many of their entrees and the salad bar has daily rotating soups, spring rolls, rangoons, and tons of fresh veggies alongside their deliciously thick peanut sauce. The chicken and veggie soup is so good and I usually end up getting 2-3 cups of it and taking the entree for leftovers! My favorite entrees are the green curry fried rice, red curry with pineapple, pad kra prow, larb, pad Thai, and the tom yum. They are speedy with the service and takeout. The staff is always friendly and helpful when it comes to choosing. The menu is very well laid out and shows substitutions and additions. This place is super packed during lunch and its easy to see why. Huge lunch menu options and all you can eat appetizer bar. I really really liked the soups they have, the fried dumplings, the spring rolls, tempura (and some salad) too. I got full before my food even came. I got a pad see ew with beef, which was actually so so - significantly sweeter than other pad see ews I've had and the beef not as tender, but lots of noodles if that's your thing. I don't know about you, but I love Thai food! I actually went to Thai Cuisine for my birthday and it was really good! I went during lunch and the salad bar was fresh and refilled frequently. I got the vermicelli noodles with pork and it was pretty refreshing. I also got the Pad Thai-#1 it was super savory and delicious. I also LOVE Thai Tea and their Thai tea was amazing. My waiter was super nice also! It gets busy during lunch time so I would reserve or try to get there a tiny bit earlier to get a seat! This is one of the go-to thai places in Austin for me. It's not the best thai I've had, but it's one of the better places to go in Austin. It's a really good deal to go for lunch because it comes with an appetizer buffet. The buffet isn't super big, but the spring rolls are always good and they have different types of soup as well! The Pad Thai is pretty good and so are the curries. The last time I tried the Pad See Ewe, I was a little disappointed. Service can be pretty bad when they are busy. 3.5/5 Came here for dinner on a Friday night and we were able to get seated right away. Since moving to Austin, I have yet to find a Thai place that makes me want to come back for more. The menu has a good variety of selections and we settled on: -Thai tea (2/5): much sweeter than I typically like it. -Coconut shrimp appetizer (3.5/5): this was actually really tasty! The dipping sauce that came with it has a nice kick to it, but the shrimp was kind of on the small size, especially for the price they charge for this. -Massaman curry (3/5): this is a curry I typical order and I was impressed with how flavorful this was. HOWEVER, the potatoes and carrots that came with the curry were not fully cooked, and not cut well either. We literally had half a spud in our curry and huge chunks of carrots that were difficult to eat. The flavor was great, but execution needs some improvement. -Pad Kee Mao (4/5): Another favorite dish I typically order at Thai restaurants, and theirs was pretty good. This definitely has a kick to it, but good flavor. I wish they let you pick the spiciness level of this dish because this was a little Overall, not a bad option for thai food. Just some things I wish were better. 1) I wish you could pick the spiciness level on their dishes. Most thai restaurants allow you to choose, so I was surprised that this place didn't. 2) Better execution for their dishes. Here's the deal with these folks: Potentially long waits during busy times (just to get seated, while you hover awkwardly by the front door), but good service once you're able to occupy a table or booth. We tried them hoping we wouldn't taste the celery and there was hardly a hint of it after dousing the rolls in peanut sauce. We ordered the a Pad Kee Mao and pineapple rice. I can tolerate a lot of spice. However, their 'medium hot' seemed more 'blazing ass hot' to me so I was disappointed that my tastebuds were on fire and I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the dish. So, we just wanted to have a white Valentine's dinner. Being a weekday, I wasn't so keen on traveling too far from home. So, some Thai cuisine therapy near home seemed like the perfect solution! Naturally, I wasn't expecting an extravagant affair. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a quaint little place with a surprising seating capacity. We started off with spring rolls, wonton soup and chicken potato soup. The wonton soup was okay ( a little too tangy for me), but the burst of flavor in the chicken potato soup is an experience worth visiting. The massaman curry with white rice was just pure perfection.
