What a disappointment. We ordered pickup and they let us know our food would take an hour, which we were ok with. When we arrived, all of our food was ready and sitting except for a fried rice. The staff let our food sit on the counter for 35 minutes while we waited for the rice, and were unhelpful and awkward when we asked. When we got home the food was mostly cold. The chicken satay was ruined and chewy, and all of the dishes just weren't good. Maybe they had been good when fresh, but ill never know because they sat it on a counter for 35 minutes before giving it to me. Bizarre, awkward service, ruined food that was sub par to begin with, and unapologetic staff...miss this place. This is definitely one of the better Thai places that Merced has to offer! When I was still a UC Merced student, I would come here majority of the time if I was craving Thai food. They have a pretty good selection that you can pick off the menu, which ranges from curry, noodle bowls, pan-fried noodles, fried rice, and etc. One of my usual go-to's was the #21 Noodle Soup Combination, but this time, when I went back to visit, I got their Seafood Pad See Ew. To my knowledge, Pad See Ew definitely should have that charred texture to their noodles and this place definitely delivers! It was so flavorful and it certainly satisfied my savory cravings. The food came out sooooo slow though. Like I almost waited 30 minutes in which I would of deducted another star because of that... But I'll let it slide since that day was graduation so it definitely was hectic for them compared to their average normal working day. Service was kind of slow too but the waitresses were nice and friendly. But taking everything into account, I do really recommend coming here! Went for dinner today and went to pay and the credit card machine wasn't working and the worker was rude and told us cash only but was never told to us before hand and no sign was posted prior to ordering. When we told the worker we didn't have cash they said that there is an ATM machine across the street. When we explained that it was a credit card and not a debit they didn't want to listen and were still being rude. We then asked if they were going to cover the fees since the ATM wasn't for the bank we bank with and was met with attitude. I'm not usually a huge fan of Thai food, but with the limited Asian cuisine options in Merced, I have to settle for Thai. The pad thai and pineapple fried rice are pretty good but the prices are a bit high - even though the portions are big. I know of a couple other places back in the bay that are cheaper for the same amount of food. The spring rolls are waay overpriced, it's close to $9! You can get the same thing from Noah's for only $5. I definitely recommend going for lunch though, because they have lunch specials for only $10-12 each (from 10am-3pm) which is half the size of a regular portion and comes with rice. It's more worth it in my opinion, and the half portion is more than enough! For lunch, we ordered the pad curry prawns and pad asparagus - both were flavorful and I had leftovers to take home which amounted to another meal for me. One thing I really like about Thai Cuisine II is that they have mango sticky rice! It's one of my favorite desserts and not every Thai restaurant has it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that they serve it here. I'm not sure if it's a seasonal dessert, but I ordered it a few months back (during winter) and they had it. Service is pretty good, our waitress was attentive and came back to check on us. Each plate came out almost exactly 15 min after the previous plate. One person at a time eats at this dump! The waitress explained that they cook one dish at a time. My pad Thai Chicken literally took 60 min to served. The table next to us ordered something that "only the manager can cook, and he's busy, it will be another 20 min or so". WTF???? I've never seen anything like this before. Full disclosure, my Pad Thai was really good, but damn! Go across the street to Houa Khong 2, or downtown to Bangkok Restaurant. While the service was quite good, the food was disappointing. I ordered the Pad Grapao with beef, while my son ordered the same with chicken. My husband ordered the Massaman Curry. We also got an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls were more akin to vietnamese spring rolls with the sticky rice wrap. Though well made and beautifully wrapped, I am not a fan of of this type of spring roll. The pad grapao was a bland, very watery, lacking in spice, a little too fishy and bitter. The over-use of watery vegetables drowned my plate, cutting out a lot of flavor. Thai food is normally packed with a robust flavor and spicy, the chili sauce should be minimal and thicker, usually a little on the oily side. My son said the chicken was slightly better, but this is the first time in a long time that I left half my food on the plate, instead of boxing it up. In all, it reminded me of Vietnamese food of which I am not a fan. The Massaman Curry was passable, but my husband's only comment was that he had better. I sample it and I gave it the "edible" stamp of approval. Perhaps some of their other dishes are better, but I will be going to the other one. read more

I've been coming here since 2016 when I first started school at UC Merced. This place has always been one of my favorite restaurants in town. I'll usually order the pa kee-mao, pad thai or one of the curry dishes. The flavor never disappoints and I can see how this place has been ranked one of the city favorites for like 3 years in a row. The service is great, sometimes the wait can be long especially at peak hours, like after 5. However, in my opinion it's pretty worth because Merced in general doesn't have much cuisine so this place is ranked higher on the pedastool compared to other restaurants in town. read more

I've been coming here for years. This place was my introduction to Thai/Lao food. This is a nice family owned restaurant, they use to own both Thai cuisine 1 and 2 but sold 1 off G street. My wife and I stopped by today, she picked. We ordered egg rolls, Tom-kha soup, pad phak, bbq chicken, yellow curry, combination fried rice. My wife got a Thai ice tea to drink, it was perfect not too sugary. The egg rolls were fresh and good. The pad phak mixed vegetables and chicken, was good too. Bbq chicken was good. My wife enjoyed her yellow curry. The only downside is prob the service isn't very attentive. They get the job done though. It's not the best not the worst Thai food. It's prob top 3 in Merced and definitely in the nicest part of town. I'm sure we'll be back it being the closest Thai restaurant to our house. read more

Minuses: -A longish wait for our food (30+ min), but it was a Saturday night so that's to be expected. -Every one of the buckles for the three available high chairs were broken. Since my daughter is swift to wiggle out and stand up in a highchair without the harness, this was inconvenient for us; for most patrons, it won't matter. Halfway into our meal, we saw a fried fish come out to be served to the table behind us... So we waved over the waitress and asked "Can we have what they're having too?" The fried fish here is SO good! So is the chicken wings. The Curry was thick too! Not watered down at all. Restrooms are really nice, well stocked and clean. We come here as often as we can. I like their food very much, especially the Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. I came here to eat with my friend when we decided to try out different restaurants around Merced. We ordered pineapple fried rice, lunch special panang curry, and chicken skewers with peanut sauce (I ordered Pad Thai to go). The food was just like any good Thai restaurant quality food. They put a nice spin on the fried rice with sliced Asian sausage and it's a big portion. The panang curry was a little watery but they provided rice so you didn't need to buy extra for the lunch special. I always enjoyed the chicken and loved the peanut sauce as well. The only thing from giving this place four stars is that the service of very slow. Everyone was nice and all but I wish they would be faster to provide service. read more

This was my first time going here but I will definitely be going back. When we arrived (party of two) we were greeted by staff with a Hi and a friendly smile and told to take a seat wherever we liked. It took less then 10 minutes for staff to come to our table and ask if we wanted any drinks, we ordered and she left. When she returned, we ordered our food. This consisted of one dish each and a plate of rice that we would share. Now this is where they lost a star! It took over 30 minutes to get our food and although it was still warm and very tasty, that was just way to long. Also the staff didn't come to the tables and say, sorry for the wait or offer us a second glass of Soda or Water! Nevertheless the food was great! Well tonight was something different We ordered Thai teas, they were extraordinarily sweet. We ordered chicken satay with peanut sauce and a little cucumber salad, which was a bit sweet. Thai cuisine salad is always good, the dressing is quite sweet I ordered butterfly shrimp, it was not cooked enough for me. On a bed of lettuce, it was slightly tossed on the same peanut sauce that the satay was served with. I didn't like it. The "manager" said because they had no fault in making it that they were not going to change the order and that I had to pay for it. Which was fine, but get the dish out of my face and no, I don't want a box. Idk I just didn't have a good experience and i will not be returning here again. The bill was $100 Smh If you want good authentic Thai food, don't upset yourself by coming here. My SO and I are foodies, so we know wtf good food is. And this was just not it. read more

We stopped by after spending a week golfing in Chowchilla. We love Thai and we're happy to see this place PACKED when we walked it. That's always a good sign right!! The wait was 90 minutes, it is Mother's Day so we understood. They actually opened up another section of the restaurant to let us wait. Soon we had menus and were ordering. No wait at all. Staff it super nice and helpful. We ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, yellow curry with chicken and veggies with peanut sauce. It was all amazing! We are pretty picky about our Thai food and this place DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! We plan on RV'ing/golfing in Chowchilla again and we will for sure be back to enjoy this fantastic food! I am in Merced for work and was starving so I googled restaurants and this was one of the first to pull up, so here I am. And there's people in here so that's a good sign! I ordered a Diet Coke and water and the ice is shaved!! Love it! And I noticed right when I sat down that they have sauce options out, which I love, so I don't have to bug the wait staff for them. And yayyy they have pickled jals! It seems like no Thai spot has these anymore! They have a lunch menu until 3 so I ordered a yellow curry vegetarian dish, which comes w rice. The portion was decent and it tasted good. Vegetarian had cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions, cucumbers and baby corn! I should mention they didn't have a vegetarian option, I had to ask for it. I went with my father who was visiting town and he ended up having to leave before my food even arrived. When we tried asking what was taking so long or if they had forgotten the order the manager was very rude and tried to talk back like it was our fault.
