The parking lot is tiny and as we drove up we saw a dude just getting into his car with a 40 ounce which he promptly cracked open before hitting the road. Lock your car, hide your wives, hide your kids!! The good news is that once you get in the door of Thai Dee, you know it's going to be okay. The inside of the place is cozy and cute. The food is absolutely delicious. Serving sizes are huge, so you can take half home for later. The curry is some of the best I've had and the pad thai is soooooo good. The wait staff were great--friendly and helpful without being overbearing. What I really loved is when we went to pay for our food, they had a table next to the register where they were sorting through a delivery of fresh basil that looked amazing. Ate here for dinner earlier this evening. I had one of my favorite Thai dishes, the spicy basil leaves or pad krapow as it is also known. I got mine with chicken which I believe really works best as a canvas for the flavors. Theirs is delicious and definitely on the spicier side. I could see the stir-fried fresh Thai chiles in the mix along with the basil, sweet red peppers and onion. My wife had her old standby of shrimp pad thai. A first for me on this visit were the potstickers I haven't ever had theirs before and I was impressed. It was as if they were deep fried on the outside and the filling in them was rich and meaty. Made out of pork I believe. Next time I go back I will either get the prik king or one of the curries. Both the red and the jungle curry sounded the most intriguing. read more

Fan-freakin-tastic food. Ive eaten here dozens of times and the food is second to none in quality, taste, portion, and price. Items I HIGHLY recommend: red curry pumpkin, green curry, kao soi, spicy noodles, curry rice/noodles, the summer rolls, and grilled egg plant. Ive had other things on the menu but these have been a few of my favorite things. Wait staff and owners are extremely nice and helpful. This place is A-Mah-Zing! While the outside may fool you into thinking its on the sketchy side -- the inside is very cute. Parking is terrible -- but you can easily park in the lot kitty-corner from the restaurant. The apps were not very impressive -- fried tofu and spring roll -- while I did ask for it vegan it still came with the egg. Fail on their part. The Veggie Wonton soup was delicious! Actually drank from the bowl Everyone in the party got an entree -- The Jungle Curry was a bit to sweet for my taste but the Monsuna and Green Curries were delicious. The Basil Noodles with Tofu were to die for. Plus it is BYOB -- bring a chilled white or a rose to compliment the spicy food. The service was a bit hectic when we got there-- around 8pm -- but we did get mostly what we asked. Both of the waitresses that were working there were very friendly. This food takes me back to Thailand! Okay, I have never been to Thailand. However, I do love Panang chicken and if I were to ever visit Thailand and eat it there, then Thai Dee's version is what I would hope it tastes like. The sauce has just the right amount of coconut and panang curry in it. The basil tasted fresh like it was just picked that morning. The chilis gave my taste buds the punch I was hoping for. The place is a little lacking in the atmosphere department and the decor is a bit aging, but the food is a winner and worth the trip. read more

Oh great food huge portions, always have food to bring home to eat later. Pad Thai is to die for and all the Curry dishes are spot on as well as all the other menu items I have tried. Only issue is the food is so good and so many people know about this place the parking area is not very big and fills up fast during peak hours. Possibly the best Thai restaurant we've had the pleasure of eating at here in San Antonio. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls which were crispy and delicious on their own without even needing the tasty dipping sauce that accompanied the egg rolls. My husband ordered the Tom Yum soup which had a wonderful depth of flavor. We shared chicken Pad Thai and the Red Curry with Pumpkin. Both dishes were outstanding. The curry was a touch too spicy for me but perfect for my husband. Next time, I'll ask for mild on the spice level. Our waitress was prompt in refilling our drinks and had a lovely personality. Food was amazing; the pork-on-a-stick had a great sauce, the curry pastry puffs were delicious, Pumpkin curry, panang were very good, the pork with lime and lemongrass (Nam Tok I think) was wonderful. I treat most Thai restaurants the way I do new Mexican places. I get something simple. If they can do that, they earn my trust. Ordered the fried tofu, which I really liked because it was much thinner than other places I've been too. They were almost like extra thick tortilla chips. Very good crisp but still soft. Also went with the chicken pad thai. Not spicy at all (yeah, I'm a wimp, especially with Thai level spice!) and very tasty. Also, the portion was huge. So big it was my dinner for two days. My favorite place to eat in San Antonio, Thai or otherwise. Thai Dee introduced me to Thai cuisine and I've never looked back since. I'm addicted to the Penang noodle tofu and the spicy basil noodle tofu - the green, red and masamun curries are also very flavorful and satisfying with steam rice. As an appetizer try the fried tofu or vegan spring rolls. Best vegetarian/vegan food in town. They know me and my order, that's how often I go. LOVE IT! read more

I've read yelp reviews for years and have never written one (shame on me). This restaurant demanded action with its epically terrible food. This is no hyperbole: this is the WORST THAI FOOD I'VE EVER HAD. I ordered the spicy noodles with tofu, egg rolls and a thai tea for delivery. When the delivery driver arrived an hour and 20 minutes later (he had told me it might be an hour due to being busy) there was a surcharge of $7 for delivery i wasn't told about (red flag). But whatever, it was 9:30 and i was hungry. so i paid the guy $25 for a meal that i literally took two bites of and immediately threw in the garbage. I love pad kee mao (spicy noodles). Its my go to dish. The slop that Thai dee gave me doesn't deserve the name. Do you remember the first time you cooked pasta? Instead of cooking the spaghetti for 3 minutes you cooked it for 30 and when you pulled it and tried to eat it it was mush? I remember because that's what thai dee served me tonight. completely inedible. at this point i'm really irritated but im hungry and i have to be up early for work so i figure well at least i'll eat the tofu. wrong. It was weirdly sour and also had a terrible consistency. Yesterday I took my wife to Thai Dee for our 27th anniversary for her favorite dish Three Flavored Fish but as we pulled up at 6:30 it was dark and a sign said they had a gas leak open at 7pm. So we thought we would wait along with numerous others who pulled up after us just goes to show how great this place is. About 20 mins later the owner came out to explain and apologize that the repair guy was unable to get the line repaired and they would not be opening. We told her we would be back Saturday and thank you for informing us, Amazing food and amazing service is why we love eating here !!! read more

Food is really quite good. Seems very authentic. Service could be better though. My first visit took at least an hour longer than it should have because they could never get around to bringing menus, taking orders, refilling water, bringing the check, and processing the credit cards. Based on my first experience, I made my second visit a takeout order. I came at the instructed 20 minutes and they had apparently accidentally given my order to a walk in who placed his order later. We tried Thai Dee last night and I must say... we were amazed at how flavorful our dishes were. The restaurant is def a hole in the wall joint but dont let the outside fool you from the deliciousness inside!!! The parking is a bit of a mess but it didnt bother me as much since we beat the dinner rush. We got the summer rolls (which were like typical spring rolls) but the sauce that came with it had a great sweet and spice mix. We also got the spicy noodles and green curry (as recommended by some of you yelpers plus our wonderful waiter) and it was sooo good! Since we are indian, the spice and the flavor were out of this world! Each plate was inexpensive and had a larggggeee portion size. I unfortunately had a bad experience here for several reasons. We had difficulty being seated in the moderately busy restaurant after waiting for 20 minute while other larger parties who arrived later were seated before us. It was not very clean and we noticed a small to medium sized roach ambling between the tables. Unfortunately this was after we had gotten our food. We had the pad Thai and basil noodles, neither really had any flavor and seemed watery. On the plus side the wait staff seemed friendly, though seemed uncoordinated, serving our meals at different times even though there were only two of us. Will not be returning. read more
