One day I decided to go out on a whim and try something new (thank goodness). We ordered... Seafood Green Curry Seafood Healthy Ginger Fried Tofu Spring Rolls Everything was really good! The seafood (shrimp and squid rings) were actually fresh and cooked to perfection. I love the green curry. The spice level and flavor is on point. I always order a side of steamed vegetables to add to my curry - and the vegetables are not overly cooked. They're fresh and still slightly crunchy. We've ordered a few times since our first visit. And it's been consistent. Prices are reasonable. They are smaller sized portions compared to some establishments in the area. The service is good. They pay attention to detail and the food comes out quickly. I keep telling myself to order something new, but I really love the curry here. Eventually, I will try something else! ;) read more

We've ordered take out from here so much. I only get the Panama Curry with chicken. I always tell them not to make it spicy, but the last time I did they said "the sauce is already spicy, we can't adjust". Eek, that's not good. Deducted a star for that only because every time I've ordered it at other places they adjust the heat level. And if you say not spicy, they won't add it! But still, so far in the area their Panama curry is the best. Both with the flavor and the consistency of the sauce. The chicken is always fresh and perfect. Thai Express is my go to Thai place. The food is consistent with great quality. I ordered my usual, Thai Spring Rolls and Suicide Noodles and was not disappointed. The spring rolls were crispy and not greasy. The Suicide Noodles had plenty of Calamari and shrimp. Could have been a bit more spicy but still very good. The food is great, but they seem to be suffering from the success of the business. They seem to be highly under staffed during COVID. Plan to wait for a long time to pick up your order. Drunken Noodles Lunch Special ($9 for chicken, $10 for beef, $11 for seafood) - Wide Rice Noodles, Basil Leaves, Tomatoes, Onion, Scallions, Garlic & Chili. Thai Express is a very welcome addition to the Kentlands. Thai Express is pretty tiny, as the name implies, but it is kind of fun to be sitting in what is essentially an open kitchen. We haven't dined in before, so I can't speak to the table service. I can say that the kitchen appears to be flawlessly clean and the staff all wear gloves and hair nets. To the food! I'm a big fan of Pad Thai and I search it out most places I travel to. Hands down, this is in the top 5 for the best I've had anywhere in the US. The portion size is great for the price and they don't skimp on the protein. The curry dishes have deep flavor and everything is clearly freshly prepared. Their Thai Iced Tea is also a high point. For $2, how can you go wrong!? I particularly like that they make it when you get there so that the ice doesn't water it down. The lost star comes from the parking situation. On a weekend night it can be just about impossible to get a parking space anywhere near the restaurant. I recommend parking on the street and walking over. We are fans. We have been in multiple times and we will surely be back many more. read more

I asked for a plate and they would not give me a plate for eating in the restaurant. He said I ordered carry out and I told him I had not done so and even had left them a tip in the credit card. Love the pineapple fried rice because you get all the ingredients inc eggs, tomato and cashew - many other places will only have some of this ingredients and charge more to add. Something has happened to this place! This place used to be my GO TO place for Thai. But the past few months, there have been issues with food quality and portions. As for food quality, I ordered the garden salad with peanut dressing and got wilted lettuce and old tomatoes and cucumbers. Today I ordered my favorite vegetable red curry with extra tofu which costs $2 more and got mostly sauce and five pieces of tofu with minimal veggies! This entree was $15! I am going to take a break from coming here. Very sad to see one of my favorite places go downhill! read more

I'm so glad to have found this Thai restaurant! They're very conveniently located by the Kentlands shopping area and have a very affordable lunch menu. (Who doesn't like cheap lunch spots?) As the name promises, they offer both tasty Thai food along with speedy service. And with their friendly and welcoming attitude to boot, I'm definitely going to be back again soon. I ordered their massaman curry lunch special with a spring roll. The spring roll arrived piping hot with duck sauce. Shortly after, I received my entrée with steamed white rice. The portion was perfect for lunch, and I had no trouble finishing it. This was not at all spicy to me, and I don't think it would be too much for anyone who is sensitive to spicy food, especially since it's in a creamy coconut milk based sauce. My companion ordered the pad see ew noodle dish, which he said he really enjoyed as well. There's about a half dozen tables for 2 or 4 people. Therefore, I wouldn't bring a large group here. Otherwise, this is a good lunch spot if you want to go out with a co-worker. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The food came out fast, and it was surprisingly very tasty. We had the seafood Curry and lunch special greed Curry (shrimp). For appetizers, salad and veggie dumplings ( which looks like shumai. All were good, but dipping sauce is standard soy. They could have taken time to make a special dipping sauce. Salad dressing was nice. We also tried the Tom yum soup, which was good and wasn't too spicy. For dessert we tried the coconut custard with stick rice. Small portion and not too sweet, a great complement to end a meal. Nearly 50$ plus tip, which is not bad for the amount of food we got. While it's not extremely above average, it's great food for the price! Tucked away in Kentlands lies this little gem of a place (it's way behind the strip of the central stores). Thai Express is pretty small in size but has adequate seating and seems to be pretty clean. I can't quite speak for the service but the host (I believe) was really sweet and polite. As I said before, the food isn't crazy amazing BUT considering you're paying ~$8 to $10 for most entrees and ~$3 to $7 for appetizers, it's pretty stinkin' great. We ordered the calamari, "Thai veggie dumplings", kee mao, pad thai, and thai fried rice. Now when I say the food isn't super awesome, I don't mean it lacks flavor. The food's still really good, but don't expect to be floored. I'd probably skip the calamari and dumplings next time though. Calamari was too thickly breaded (think tempura-like coating), and the dumplings were a tad bit too oily. Overall though, I was really satisfied considering we had a great amount of yummy food for a even greater price! PS they do deliver, but only two miles out for now. read more

I was craving Thai food and wanted something quick. Fortunately, I stumbled on this place while I was "Yelping." I was skeptical about this place, because a lot of the Asian restaurants around the area had great reviews, but were very overrated and underwhelming. I called them for pick-up. I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao). I was hungry, so I ordered two dishes. It was hard to find this place, because it is hidden behind Panera. Chicken Pad Thai: It was very flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were cooked nicely, and it actually tasted like Thai food. I was surprised how good it was. However, it was slightly sweet. Chicken Drunken Noodles: It was also flavorful with the mint and the hint of spiciness. Unfortunately, it wasn't spicy enough. I wish I had the option to choose the level of spiciness. Overall, the food is great for the price you pay. It's very affordable, and they give you a pretty good amount of food. This restaurant is more of a place where you call in to pick-up food or have it delivered. It's very small and casual. I wouldn't recommend this as a place to go on a date unless he/she is okay with eating at a small place with the server and cooks staring at you guys a few steps away.
