I went to Thai Favorite Cuisine for lunch recently, and I feel like they actually have quite a lot more choices compared to some other Thai spots I usually go to. When I looked at the menu, everything sounded good, and I ended up ordering way more than I planned even though there were only two of us. Honestly, what I ordered was more like enough for four people, but everything just looked too good and I wanted to try a bit of everything. We had Super Lump Fried Rice, Tom Kha Pot (seafood), Duck Pineapple Curry, Grilled Giant Squid, and Red Snapper with Mango. For dessert, Coconut Custard, Durian Sticky Rice, and Thai Iced Tea. The Duck Pineapple Curry was nicely presented and a bit different in a good way, not something I usually see at other Thai restaurants. The Red Snapper with Mango was probably my favorite , the sauce had a really good depth of flavor, and it reminded me of the kind of flavors I had when I visited Thailand before. I also really liked the durian sticky rice. Most Thai places I go to usually only have mango sticky rice, so seeing durian on the menu was a nice surprise, and I actually enjoyed it all the way to the last bite. For two people, the bill came out close to $200, which is not cheap, but I felt like the variety and quality made it worth it for me. The only thing that is preventing me from giving this review a one-star is that they are a local small business. However, my experience was horrible. We ordered 4 dishes to try - the short rib soup, yellow curry, pad kee mao, and orange chicken. The yellow curry chicken came out almost immediately (we were expecting the soup to be first given it is an appetizer). The curry was extremely sweet - it actually tasted like a desert. We didn't want to send it back but the manager stopped by to ask how the dish was and we were honest. She took the dish back, which we were appreciative of. However, everything after that was downhill - the server became increasingly rude and brought out our orange chicken and made a sarcastic comment like "you know orange chicken is sweet?". We're Asian and very familiar with all Asian cultural cuisines and are more than experienced to know that yellow curry isn't supposed to be that sweet and orange chicken is a sweet and savory dish (which is more universal and accepted beyond traditional asian dishes). She never once checked on our table and refused to even bring the check - another waitress had to. So for service, this ruined the experience. The food was lackluster at best. The pad kee mao was decent, but nothing was all that great. Drinks were ok as well - Thai tea was acceptable and Thai coffee was not good at all. Came today for a dinner... Had gotten the pad Thai with shrimp and the shrimp had a very fishy taste like it was old or spoiled. The restaurant itself was also very hot and had no ventilation. That could've been the reason to the fishy spoiled taste of the shrimp. Also I feel like the Isaaan sausage could've been more crispy. Restaurant can get a little busy; came on a Thursday night and waited about 30 min. However, the food came quick. Holy basil with wagyu-the spice level is not for the faint of heart. Too spicy for me but my boyfriend got through it, kinda. Menu didn't mention spicy level so it tooks us by surprise. Wagyu skewers- very juicy, tender and flavorful. Sauce a little spicy. Fresh rolls- 4 large pieces. So fresh, basic and delicious. Sadly only 1 shrimp per piece. Crab noodles- it was good but felt it lacked a little flavor. Asked for a side of sweet chili sauce. Been wanting to branch out and explore more Thai spots around Tustin, and this one kept popping up on Yelp so we decided to give it a try tonight. I had been eyeing a few others too, but the long waits always scared me off Parking was easy with a good amount of spaces outside, and the wait was only about 5 minutes around 7:15 PM, which was a pleasant surprise. The inside ambience was modern, trendy, and really cute... although we were seated toward the back, which didn't feel quite as nice as the front dining area. Now onto the important part... the food Holy basil Wagyu beef - $22.99 | 4/10 This was unfortunately the biggest letdown of the night. I had read another review saying it wasn't their favorite, but still wanted to try it because my hubby loves pad kra pow and this seemed somewhat similar. Sadly... it missed the mark for us. The rice was very dry, the wagyu mince was dry and overly salty, and overall it was our least favorite dish of the night. Honestly one of the more disappointing Thai dishes I've had in a while. Would personally skip unless dry rice and salty minced beef is your thing. Papaya Salad + Soft Shell Crab - $18.99 + $2 | 8/10 This one was super tasty. Fried Calamari - $12.99 | 6/10 This one was just okay. Hubby and I always order calamari when we see it on a menu because we love comparing them from place to place, but this one came out pretty cold and didn't taste fresh out of the fryer. Could've skipped this one and not missed much. Upon entering, you step into a very welcoming dining space with lots of tables and seating, even with an extended dining room in the back! The menu had so many food options, more than some of the other thai spots around in OC. Here, you'll find some more rare dishes besides your more common and popular noodle and curry dishes. Dishes we ordered: - Crab Noodles: this was probably the most popular one for the table! Amount of crab was pretty good for the value and noodles were perfectly sweet and savory with the fried egg. Would definitely order this again! - Panang Curry with Chicken: this was also probably one of the best panang that I've had! The chicken was also very tender. Medium heat was the perfect amount of space that packed flavor with just the right kick to it. - Creamy Udon in Tom Yum Soup: just a little mild for those who don't want anything too spicy. Nice ambiance overall with a great background music selection that fit the atmosphere well. Ordered the holy basil with wagyu beef. Unfortunately it wasn't memorable for me. Having pad kra pao plenty of times in Thailand, where it's usually moist, well seasoned, and fiery, this had heat but was noticeably dry. The egg was too small and too fried to be runny as you're supposed to be able to break the yolk into the beef and mix it together into the spicy beef. Tried the BBQ ribeye, calamari and shrimp with egg yolk glaze, and Pad Thai from Thai Favorite Cuisine and honestly, every dish brought something different to the table. The Pad Thai was my favorite of the night. The flavor was so well-balanced -- not overly sweet, not too tangy, and the savory notes came through perfectly. The noodles were cooked just right and every bite felt comforting without being too heavy. You can tell they paid attention to the sauce ratio instead of drowning the dish in it. The calamari and shrimp with egg yolk glaze had that addictive crispy texture while still staying light. The egg yolk coating added richness without overpowering the seafood, and the sweet chili dip on the side tied everything together really well. The BBQ ribeye was tender, flavorful, and paired nicely with the fresh greens and dipping sauce. It had that smoky charred flavor that makes it hard to stop eating piece after piece. I recently visited Thai Favorite Cuisine this last weekend on Mother's Day. We were lucky that we made reservations for our group because the amount of people waiting to get a table was overwhelming. The waiting list had about 10 groups or so. We did have to wait a good 10-12 minutes for our table even with reservations, but the lady handling the waitlist was so sweet and kept us updated often when a table for us would be available. Once seated, we noticed the plates were an inconsistently cleaned and had to ask for new sets. Our group opted to do family-style dining so we each ordered a dish and we all shared. We ordered: pad thai with shrimp, tom kha with chicken, BBQ ribeye, moo tod, ong choy, spicy crispy fish filet. We also ordered the coconut custard, fried bananas with ice cream, and mango sticky rice for desserts. This restaurant was awarded a 1-star Thai Select so I had high expectations going in that we would be served authentic Thai cuisine. The flavors were definitely well-balanced, well-seasoned, and embodied the essence of Thai cooking definitely pretty authentic. I just have to critique the fried bananas a bit because they came in egg roll wrappers and not the coconut sesame batter that they normally are coated in. This spot is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking spots. Reservations are recommended during busier times, but walk-ins are accepted as well. Inside, they have a very nice interior with a good amount of seating. For their menu, they have all the classics with a solid selection of appetizers, entrees, and drinks to choose from. My group ended up getting the Fried Calamari, Pad Thai (Seafood), Pad Thai (Beef), and the Boat Noodle Soup. This location has had a Thai restaurant since we moved here in 1991 and thru the pandemic. It is now Thai Favorite, and the recent remodel is a definite improvement of the space and decor. I have been here several times with friends, and there is a good selection of Lunch Specials. The portions are large and flavorful. Today, I ordered the Pad See Ew with beef and an iced jasmine tea. Placed an order on Uber Eats yesterday to pick up on June 4th. I usually order Pad See Ew whenever I get Thai Food, but when I saw the filet mignon skewers, I settled for that. Ordered the Super Lump Crab Fried Rice and Pad Woonsen with Fried Tofu and Extra Mixed Vegetables. The filet mignon skewers was pretty good, although a bit on the dry side.. (I prefer medium-rare) but it's more my fault for not adding that note. My wife usually critique Thai Food that I bring home to her, so I was surprised to hear that she said the food here was good, and she liked it. She did have a minor complaint though that made her not want to order food hear again, is that the food is very oily and it makes her sick. read more

We have eaten here a few times now and decided to come back, as we were craving some thai food. Upon walking in we were pleasantly surprised that they had remodeled the place. It was not too bad before, but now it looks way cleaner and more modern. It is a bit strange since half of it was remodeled and the other half still look the same as before. We came on a Monday around 2pm, so there was no wait and many empty tables. Here is what we ordered this time: Filet Mignon Skewers: This was about $21 for this plate. I felt like it was pricey for what you get, but we did ask for it to be medium rare, and they were able to make it that way for us. The meat was really soft and seasoned well. Not too salty and came with a dipping sauce on the side. I am not sure I would get this again due to the price, since there are a lot of other things on the menu I would like to try for a better price. Moo Tod: This plate was about $19 and came with crispy garlic pork belly and sticky rice. I like the sticky rice option, because I prefer it over regular rice most of the time. I would say that this time it was not as garlicky as we have had before. It was still very crispy and came with a spicy dipping sauce. I asked for some sweet and sour or sweet chili and they were happy to provide that as an alternative. Fried Fish with Mango Salad: This was $22 and it was a big portion! This was definitely worth the price in terms of portion but we were not expecting it to be beer battered. We realized that the picture we saw at the front door, was different from a picture we saw on a sign that was different than what we saw on the menu... This made it confusing so we were looking forward to that panko bread crumb texture and ended up getting the beer battered texture. Not the biggest deal. Still thought the plate was average. The mango was good, but a bit too tangy and salty to be just eating the fish alone. Definitely needed some rice to go with it. We wanted to try the yuzu lemonade but they did not have it nor any other yuzu drinks on the menu. Not the biggest deal, but just something we wanted to try and did not get the chance to. They do have lunch specials for plates on the menu for pretty decent price of $14, but unsure of the portioning there. I am giving this a 4 just because the dishes are not as consistent as we remembered and a bit confusion on menu items offered/what was served. Service was great and cleanliness was on point. Took my vegan friend here for their birthday and everything was delicious! Staff was super friendly and attentive, always checking in. We got there right before 5pm and it was pretty quiet but over the 90 minutes we dined, more and more people came so safe to say this is a popular spot. Even when it was pretty full, the noise wasn't noticeable and we could still have conversation at a normal volume. One note is that the fried rice does automatically come with eggs, so we should have specified we were planning to share and needed no eggs for the vegan. read more

Saw this place on IG and went there for an early dinner on the weekend. We got there around 5pm and not too busy but shortly after we got seated, so many people were waiting outside. We ordered a tom yum soup, ong choy, pad see ew with chicken, and a short rib curry. Everything was not but a little bits on the sweeter side which I don't usually prefer. The short rib curry is totally different than what on the photo. The presentation of the short ribs was impressive but the meat was very tough and chewy and just didn't go with the curry sauce. Had this before so nothing new to me 2) B1-BBQ Ribeye was well seasoned but a bit tough to chew (thus the 1 less star) 3) Garlic green beans with chicken was probably the best beans I've had in a long time. It was well seasoned and still crunchy. I think I ate this the most 4) Sweet and sour chicken was tangy; the sourness and sweetness was well balanced. I had thought manao was my favorite, then chiang rai, and maybe it is the not-so-subtle messaging, but this is actually my favorite thai spot in Tustin. I love the open and bright ambience, pretty colors of the decor, ample parking on a Sunday for lunch, and amazing food with decent pricing. We booked a reservation a few days before, but the yelp waitlist did not look long. Although now thai tea is at least $5 anywhere, they did sell it for $5, and the dishes were less than $20 each. Four adults eating 4 dishes +2 thai teas came out to under $130 (18% gratuity included) plus some leftovers! My favorite was the spicy fried fish (catfish). The filet with dipping sauce (don't recall the name) was delicious also, and cooked to an enjoyable medium-well. Pad see ew was standardly tasty. Wagyu curry was flavorful. Amazing thai food in a beautiful restaurant! Grabbed dinner at Thai Favorite Cuisine on a Thursday evening and was able to be seated immediately. The menu is extensive, offering soups, noodles, entrees, fish, etc. There was even a page with photos of Recommended Favorites, which was super helpful when ordering. We ordered the Super Lump Crab Fried Rice, Tom Kha soup, Udon Creamy Tom Yum with crispy pork belly, and Cashew Nut Chicken. All of the dishes came out very fast and hot! The Tom Kha was delivered on a burner, which the waiter lit before serving. The crab fried rice was a huge hit at the double. Tons of crab meat meat and egg on fried rice, and the portion was large enough to share with 3 people (in addition to our entrees). The Tom Kha was piping hot, creamy, and full of delicious seafood. Again, it was a large portion, so luckily we were able to package the rest up in a container to take home. The Cashew Chicken was also full of flavor and bright vegetables! Second time here, very glad to see improvements in the dishes and got to try new things. Pad See Ew: The noodle is chewy and flavorful. It is not too sweet and comes with veggies and eggs. However, some the noodles were a bit undercooked because some noodles stuck together. Luckily, the good flavor saved this dish. Compared to pad Thai, it is slightly sweeter. Pad Thai: Another great noodle dish. The noodles are chewy and nicely cooked. Glad the bean sprouts were lightly cooked, so they didn't taste so raw. It has a hint of sourness, a great savory taste. Pad Cha Talay (Mixed Stir-fried seafood): Second time trying this dish, no issues with this dish. If you love seafood, this is a great choice. The peppercorn gives a small kick to the flavor, it is flavorful with other herbs. Papaya Salad: second time trying this and it is way better than the first try. I picked medium spice level, not overly spicy. It is way more marinated and flavorful than the first time. So, I definitely recommend this dish and I hope they can maintain the quality and taste of this dish. Their service is great, but they can get busy so you might have to wave at them a few times before catching someone's attention. I still give this place a 4/5 because they should really work on cleanliness. We found rice on our plates and utensils. This happened to both of my visits, the table always had lots of water and uncleaned spots. read more

+1 local favorite thai restaurant!! i super love the ambience here! very beautiful and giving a good chill vibe. servers are nice, friendly, and caring. the menu is big!! i've been here several times with small and big party and the variety of menu would be a plus. food is very flavorful (except pad thai is pretty sweet for my taste). salad is soooo fresh that you'd love to add to your meal to balance out the flavors overall. i once tried thai tea here but it was super super sweet that i couldnt finish.. thats why i took off one star unfortunately. but overall, great place! would def recommend my circle checking this out read more

We actually wanted to dine at a different Thai restaurant a mile away, but the wait was too long. Luckily, I went on Yelp and found this place and managed to get a reservation within minutes. We got seated almost right away. The restaurant is nice and clean. The service is great. Here are the dishes that we tried: Grilled Steak - flavorful, but I would have preferred it to be a little more well done on the outside to get that bold flavor. Flat Noodle with Crab - this was delicious. I've never had this type of noodle served with crab before so it was a yummy surprise. Fried Chicken Wonton - a little dry, chicken to wonton ratio is like 1:5, but the wonton itself is crispy so that makes up for it. Overall, it was good all around. Came here because it was close to where my mom's dentist office was. Lol. I have lived in the Tustin/Orange area almost my whole life and have never heard of this place. Some family members mentioned the ownership is somewhat newer. Anyway, I have to say this is hands down some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Everything was fantastic. I also like that on several of the dishes you get to choose the protein you want it made from (chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, veggies etc). We tried the fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, vegetable red curry and pad Thai with chicken and Thai iced tea. We came for a very early dinner, around 4:30. It wasn't super busy, but certainly wasn't empty either. The service was super friendly and fast and great price for everything we ate; with tip was around $80. Such a cute interior and lots of windows. We ordered the papaya salad medium spice and it actually came out spicy level (they apologized and comped it) I love the addition of cabbage to cut through the spice but wish it had more of a funk fish sauce taste. The crab fried rice had tons of crab on top which I loved. My favorite was the spicy paste udon with all of the delicious seafood on it. I couldn't stop eating it! read more
