It was our first time trying Thai Lada. I am pleased with the overall results reprieve. The food was pretty good and the server was nice. The reason for 4 stars are: - the soup that was supposed to be the appetizer came at the exact same time as the food so one of them got cold while we ate the other. - the wings were not tasty The curries, fried rice, pad se ew, and khao soi gai were tasty. Please see photos for portion sizes. They were good! We will return!

The noodles were absolutely delicious and protein packed. They're def not shy about giving meat and toppings. I mean the crab Rangoon was prolly some of the best I've had in awhile. You can actually taste bits of crab in it (as it should be).

Parking is limited and there aren't many seats inside. The tables weren't very clean. We literally ate at their patio baking in the sun cause there was no room inside, so the whole time we got to listen to rush hour traffic. We ordered the steamed dumplings and they came with a strange aïoli sauce on top that I really didn't like, it completely ruined the dish for me. Who wants mayonnaise sauce on their steamed dumplings. I like when people try new things and push the bounds of imagination, but this dish should have never left the kitchen. We also tried some basic spicy beef dishes, which were fine, but overall, it was a a sucky experience and I don't think I'll be coming back.

One of my favorite Thai places in Austin! Their boat noodles are always a highlight & very authentic. Fast service & not too busy, definitely more on the casual side.

Lunch special, veggie spring roll and Tom Yum soup

We found this place while exploring Google Maps and were drawn to the Thai food. As soon as we sat down, I had a strong feeling that I was in for an authentic meal when I noticed the restaurant playing Thai pop music. Monday was a great day to visit, as they offered a weekday lunch special: $14 for a spring roll, a soup, and an entrée. We both decided to go for the special after discovering that the soup of the day was Tom Yum! One of us chose tofu, and the other chose chicken. The vegetarian spring roll was crispy and paired really well with the semi-sweet sauce. The sourness of the Tom Yum soup was the perfect appetizer to kickstart our appetite. I want to mention the surprising amount of food packed into this seemingly small cup of soup: a big chunk of tomato, onions, mushroom chunks, and 4 pieces of tofu! I wasn't expecting such a hearty portion and was pleasantly surprised. The amount of soup in the cup was also more than enough. As we were finishing our appetizers, our entrées arrived. We ordered Chicken Pad See Ew with 2 chili (spicy) and Chicken Massaman Curry with 3 chili (medium spicy). The Chicken Pad See Ew was heavily flavored--maybe a little salty--but it smelled wonderful and absolutely delicious. The thick noodles were packed with flavor, making for a satisfying combination with the protein and vegetables. The curry sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but once again, the bowl was filled with food. The portion of chicken was generous, the potatoes were cut into large pieces and cooked just right, and I especially enjoyed the crunchy peanuts that added extra texture. The server was friendly and attentive, checking on us several times throughout the meal. I also appreciated the slice of lemon in the ice water. When I inquired about vegetarian options, I was told they offer vegetable stock-based sauces that can make the dishes vegetarian! We cleaned all our plates and bowls except for the curry. I'd definitely want to visit again and maybe try other à la carte dishes, appetizers, or desserts next time!

When my go-to spot for takeout was closed and we were looking for something nearby, we ended up picking up food from here instead. It was a rainy night, and I appreciated that there was dedicated to-go parking in the back, making it convenient to get in and out. I can't speak much about dining inside, but it looks quite intimate with a few tables, and I believe they also have an outdoor patio. In terms of food, we ordered a bit of everything and still had some leftovers for the next day. The green curry was very flavorful and I liked the addition of eggplants and bamboo shoots. The crab fried rice had flakes of crab you could see and the flavor was also good, if not a bit strong. This dish also comes with a side of spicy vinegar/fish sauce if you are looking for even more flavor. The Khao Soi Gai was another curry based dish and would strongly recommend mixing it all together if you get it to go. The Pad Kee Mao was also tasty with a good amount of noodles. We enjoyed most everything we had, but would caution ordering the choo chee salmon which didn't taste the freshest. The salmon also lacked flavor as it seemed the curry was just poured over it. All the proteins we ordered were also a bit overcooked but this could have been because it was sitting for over half an hour until it was consumed. However, overall the flavors of all the dishes were good and will come back since it's so close.

When I want Thai curry, I expect Thai eggplant...not the Italian ones; that's a totally different flavor and pissed me off. And cucumbers? Instead of the squash. I know different places use different ingredients but this was a big disappointment; but the heat level and curry flavor was good and so were the egg rolls; but yea... won't be getting my curry fix from them anymore.

Updating my review because I've been back to Thai Lada several times. I think I've been dining in or ordering take out from here at least every few weeks. It has become my new frequent Thai spot in this area. In addition to the dishes from my previous review, I've now also tried their fried rice, pad kee mao, tom yum, boat noodles, mango sticky rice, and more. The food is consistently delicious, and the flavors are well balanced. The prices are so reasonable.

Review is for pickup via GrubHub with a 15 minute travel time. We ordered the Pad See-Ew and the Boat Noodles (Spicy 3). Pad See-Ew: 2/5. The portions were okay but there wasn't enough meat. Some kind of flavor in the noodles was overwhelming - I think it was either oily or buttery. I would recommend some spice to offset this flavor. We ordered with zero spice and I couldn't take more than a few bites. Drunken Boat Noodles (4/5). Not enough noodle at all for the dish and way too much basil in the package (I'd suggest adding maybe half the basil). The soup had overwhelmingly salty flavor with hints of spice and more complex flavors. The pork rinds went pretty well with it, actually. The spice was packaged separately and I couldn't tell if the soup was already spicy or if I had to add it all in to reach the desired spice level. Overall, it's an okay Thai establishment that is quite pricey for the portions. I hope to try the boat Noodles in person next time.

Dumplings. Had a creamy sauce on top and another sauce on the bottom.
    Tracey L.

Ordered take out from here and it was a good amount of food. I ordered tofu pad Thai, crab fried rice, chicken wings, and dumplings. The pad Thai was really flavorful and filled with tofu pieces. The crab fried rice had so much crab in it, this was probably my favorite dish. I had the Thai flavored wings and love the tamarind powder dusted on the wings. I would say the dumplings were my least favorite, solely because of the amount of sauce on the dumplings,

Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

I've noticed while being in Texas, places that cater to the ethnicity that the food is for are given a lover rating then if the food was white washed. All the ratings were great for the restaurants even though clearly it was missing a lot of key ingredients. When we first received the dish, it was super salty so we advised our waitress we couldn't eat it because it was overly salty. She was very kind and took it back. She asked us if we would like to replace that dish. We asked for pad Thai. Later she brought out the Kháo soi redone and said it was on the house and ask for our feedback. She apologize and informed us the sauce had reduced down too low and that is why it was salty. She asked us to try it and let her know. It was less salty but the more we ate the more it got salter. It was definitely creamier and less salty but it's still salty. Not overwhelming salt like the first but ate salty with each bit. We really appreciate her being so open and appreciative for feedback. Although the dish was too salty for our preference... we appreciate the effort and courtesy to make it right. That shows an adaptive and hard working business that values feedback and that is a marksmanship of a business will thrive with lifetime customers. * 2 Thai teas : 3/5 We had ask for a lot of Thai Tea and less milk but the Thai tea was still very milky. We wish the Thai Tea was bolder and stronger in flavor. * chicken wings with spicy tamarind sauce: 5/5 highly recommended dish! There is not many places in Austin that has this spicy tamarind chicken wing that I can find. A rare dish and an outstanding one! Salty Sour Sweet Mild Spicy Unami AND CRAVEABLE! Chicken was juicy and cripsy on the outside despite being toss in the sauce. We devoured the 5 wings and regretted we finished it all because we wanted more! These delicious wings are going to definitely be on my mind just thinking of it now is making my mouth water..... so good! !! If you love tamarind it's a must try! * mussels: 1/5: we were wondering why the mussels didn't have any Yelp pictures for Kiin Di but we may have found out why. The mussels are presented beautifully. The presentation was great and we were excited to dig in. Unfortunately the mussel ran very salty and the mussels were very very tiny. The shell was average size but I think the mussels were overly cooked. The mussels absorb the salty sauce so we couldn't eat many. We felt bad for sending back one dish so we didn't want to send back a second dish again. * tofu pad Thai: 5/5 I never thought I would ever say this because I Love 1618 Asian Fusion cripsy pad Thai so much that no other pad Thai had ever compared to theirs... but Kiin Di pad Thai definitely rank the best regular pad Thai I had (without the cripsy). The favors were so well balanced of salty , mild spicy , sour. The noodles were chewy and springy! I love the texture and this dish is so so craveable too! We got tofu but next time we will get the chicken. The tofu ran a bit sour thus why we will get chicken next time. The flavors explode in your mouth. Like wow! Highly recommend this dish! It wasn't spicy for all the non spicy eaters. Note if there's any dish can't eat spicy, you can let your waitress know and they can adjust the spicy level for you. The staff is very attentive. Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! The best pad Thai in Austin. We can't wait to come back to get the tamarind wings and pad Thai along with trying their other dishes.
