This was EASILY one of the best places I had to eat when I was in Maui recently - so good that we went to eat here TWICE. Yummmmmm! It's located right next to the Marriott Courtyard closest to the airport. There's a gravel parking lot and I can see it getting full if there was about 50 cars parked here. It's a food truck gathering and I am so glad I choose this food truck vs the other ones. There are quite a few outdoor benches and tables most of which are under a covering which is nice. What I had to eat: Fried pork ribs: bonelesss deep fried pork pieces, perfectly cooked, well seasoned and paired perfectly with the rice Crispy Garlic Shrimp: tasty garlic fried shrimp Garlic Ahi Tuna: Fried ahi tuna with a garlic soy sauce glaze. The ahi was SUPERB and well seasoned (a bit too salty BUT I still enjoyed it) Drunken noodles with shrimp: noodles are made fresh daily and will run out quick. Noodles were perfectly cooked and everyone enjoyed this dish Thai Iced tea: very refreshing on a hot day in Maui. I can get this drink over and over again. Came here unexpectedly. Went to the this location to visit the Geste Shrimp truck but it was cash only. So I tried Thai me up since they were right next door and took card. I had the fried pork. It is with disappointment to say that I used to come once a week and get the green curry and pad thai. It used to have veggies, meat, sauce & egg, with nice portions. Now, it's a much smaller portion & just a whole lotta cabbage, 1 bite of carrot & 1 bite of zucchini. Tonight, I decided to get the shrimp pad thai. It was a clump of overcooked noodles. I paid extra for shrimp, but did not receive any shrimp. There were no veggies or even 1 leaf of cilantro. They'd closed, so I I tried to make a sauce at home and add flavor & veggies. So disappointing. I used to tell everyone to go there. I keep trying to go back, thinking they had a bad day.. The Pad Thai with chicken was my favorite and my husband loved the Pork Ribs! Portions are plentiful, and you won't leave hungry! The staff are super nice, and service is accurate and quick! I didn't really want to believe the hype - but it's real. The fish specials seared with garlics and loads of cilantro and herb is amazing. It's because they have tht wok hei on and the seared and smoke is so there. It doesn't look like it in the picture but you can see the flames going on inside the food truck. Why did we wait so long to try this awesome Thai food truck??? Don't be us and make this place one of your first food stops in Maui! First of all, this is one of the most impressive food trucks I've ever seen. It's also located in a lively and beautiful food oasis area with live music in the evenings and other great food options including Bling Bing Maui (we ordered the shareable three different times during our vacation and I'm missing that Ube condensed milk as I write this review). Ok, back to this specific review. We thoroughly enjoyed every single dish we ordered--pad kee mao (these drunken noodles were divine and the noodles fresh with ingredients super balanced), the green curry was lick your bowl delicious, pad Thai was again a perfect balance of palate enjoyment, ahi was fantastic, and the fried chicken was crispy goodness. Plus their way of making Thai iced tea and coffee was the best I've ever tasted which surprised me because they didn't have the typical condensed milk that you usually mix into the drink. The service was quick given how many people had lined up to order and the vibe of the place was excellent. Wish we could go back and eat here again. I ordered the Cashew Chicken. It was really good! Vegetables were so fresh and I wish that I had the recipe for the sauce; it's uniquely ono (good). It's not a typical teriyaki sauce. Very seldom do I eat something during my travels that I can find at home so it took me awhile before I finally tried Thai Mee Up. I'm glad I did for its lemongrass fried chicken and fried pork ribs.  I absolutely love that the meals come with not only rice but a refreshing green papaya salad that neutralizes and makes me feel less guilty that both of our choices were fried.   Close to the airport, food trucks are a perfect stop to have someone grab the food while the other stays in the car with the luggage and having a later arrival, we already missed the lunch crowd and had our food relatively quick, a good thing since we were quite ravenous after the flight.  Both the lemongrass fried chicken which is reminiscent of chicken karaage in size, not flavor and fried pork ribs were delicious that we kept alternating between the two.  Like Vince, I also would've liked the pieces of chicken to be in larger pieces vs. bite sized.  With our leftover rice, we just paired with 1/4 lb shoyu ginger poke from the Like Poke food truck in the same lot getting the best of both worlds as after all, I did say we were ravenous after the flight. read more

Terrible inedible food!!! I really don't know if you can call this authentic, as it would be disrespectful to thai cuisine. I see why it's been mentioned as one of THE top food trucks in Maui. The fried chicken was super crispy without feeling greasy a bit, and I could taste a subtle lemongrass flavor that was really nice, and the dipping sauce took it to the next level. Heard about this place and decided to check this place out! My husband is Thai so he was curious to see how it would taste. We ordered the pad Thai and the fried pork ribs. My aunt also ordered the sauteed salmon for my grandma. I was curious if their papaya salad contained shrimp because most do include shrimp and I'm allergic to shellfish. I asked the lady that helped us and she wanted to double check so she first asked her team that were making the food, but to be sure she looked at the fish sauce bottle and then texted AND called to make sure there wasn't shrimp. While she was making sure, I told her that it was okay but she insisted on checking for me. That...is what I call customer service. Her empathy and commitment to get the answer really surprised me. You don't get that level of service, it's either a yes or no. I truly appreciate her going above and beyond. Did I mention that there was a long line during this time? She still wanted to make sure that the papaya salad was shrimp free. Not sure what the bad reviews were about from this place, the service I received was the complete opposite. The pad Thai tasted similar to what my mother in law makes and it was delicious!!!! The fried pork ribs were also sooo delicious. My husband also approves of this place! While writing this review, I am sad that I didn't get to try the other foods that they offer before I left. Thee worst customer service ! I have been coming here for over 10 years and after tonight I will never again. We ordered food and 40 minutes later we still waiting while everyone else behind us got their food. My wife approaches and ask the cashier who calling out "order for Jax! Wheres Jax?" The cashier then very sassy says " is your name Jax? I'm not calling you I'm calling Jax!" In the center of food trucks near the airport, Thai Mee Up is a place packed full of flavor that's bound to make your tummy happy. We got the lemongrass fried chicken and drunken noodles with chicken to share and they did not disappoint. Drunken Noodles w/ Chicken: This is my go-to order at any Thai place and this was SO good. Great flavoring, right amount of spice, and a good portion size. Lemongrass Fried Chicken: The chicken was marinated/seasoned with a great lemongrass flavor that comes through nicely with the fried batter. It was a pleasant surprise for me since I wasn't feeling something fried but this was a great pairing with rice! It came with a sweet chili sauce on the side but I liked it better by itself. The papaya salad on the side was a great compliment to the fried chicken and I'm glad they included it! Yum! Yum! Yuum! I love Thai food so when this popped up on my Yelp suggestion, it was a no brainer. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp for $15. It was packed with flavor and came with a generous amount of jumbo shrimp. The shrimp was also perfectly done. There was a hint of spiciness, but it was soooo delicious. We got here when they opened and there was already a line. It's definitely worth the wait. There is plenty of parking on site and plenty of tables outside the truck. There are a handful of other trucks around, so if your party isn't feel Thai, they have options. It took about 5 min for my food to come out, so not much of a wait. It's a bit tricky to find this food truck but you basically drive toward Costco (don't listen to Google Maps) and pass the gas station -- it's adjacent to that four way corner street. You can see a few trucks in the front which indicates which driveway to turn into. The parking lot is spacious but full of gravel so beware to the ladies who are in heels. Thai Mee Up is in the back of the food truck court (a cluster of food trucks all in one area). The menu options are attached to this review. I ordered the Pad See Ew and hubby ordered the Salmon Plate. I chose shrimp as my protein for the Pad See Ew ($14) and it was a really generous portion. The noodles were not too soft and there were plenty of eggs (which I like) and vegetables. The sauce was not too salty or sweet and had just the right combo of flavors. My husband's Salmon Plate came with sautéed vegetables and jasmine rice. I did try his salmon and agreed with him that it had the perfect texture. It was fresh and met the spice level that he asked for (they offer a spice level 1 through 10). The Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee were too sweet for my liking -- the drinks are pre-made so you cannot adjust the sweetness level. All in all, it was a cool experience to visit the gang of food trucks and Thai Mee Up did pretty well in showing itself. Bonus: they offer samples of dishes they're whipping up to customers in line.
