Great food, okay ambiance. I highly recommend Thai-O for their excellent take-out, but wouldn't bother dining-in. Chicken pad see ew is our favorite; we like to order it "medium spicy". I see several reviews saying the food is bland. If you don't order any spice, of course it's going to be bland. Be forewarned that "medium spicy" has a solid kick to it. Anything more than that and you'd really better like heat! Seriously, give them a try, and don't forget to tell them how spicy you like your food! read more

I've posted a review on Thai O a year ago and at that time I was thrilled to have found a Thai place (ANY Thai place) in Redmond. Mexican food is not my thing and it seems Mexican restaurants are on every corner here. Thai food has been my absolute favorite food for 30 yrs and I've eaten it in every Thai restaurant in every town I've lived in, including Portland (which is filled with great Thai restaurants), Beaverton, Hillsboro, Bend and Grants Pass (another town of sad Thai). Thai O isn't remotely authentic. Their stir fry dishes lack the complexities of that smokey-wok flavor Thai stir fries are famous for. They do have fresh vegetables which I appreciate, but their flavor profiles are sadly lacking. Customer service needs a serious overhaul, and I'm speaking primarily to their phone order service - and that's if they BLESS you with actually answering the phone. The attitude of the person who answers reminds me of "Seinfeld's", NO SOUP FOR YOU, character. The customer is made to feel like its a major imposition to want food from their restaurant. As it now stands it seems like they really don't want your business and go out of their way to deter you from coming back. Its certainly worked for me. Thai O - If you're reading this, know that you are in an enviable position, being the ONLY Thai food restaurant in Redmond. It affords you the rare opportunity to cash in on what that could mean for you. With the proper training in authentic Thai cuisine, recognizing that customers are your LIFEBLOOD and should be treated as such, and a better location to improve walk-in business, you could be really GREAT. Your return customers would be LOYAL and FAITHFUL and give you the praise and appreciation you'd deserve. I think right now you're taking the opposite view, that being the only Thai place in town allows you the opportunity to be anything but authentic and also rude to customers. Good luck with that. It may be serving you well for the time being because of your monopoly, but more and BETTER Thai restaurants will be coming to Redmond. Its just a matter of time. read more

Five stars for food. Four stars for service and atmosphere. My drunken noodles were definitely the best I have had in years. W's massaman curry was also delicious. In my opinion, this is the best Thai food I've had in Bend or Redmond. I don't love the atmosphere. The booths are nice, but the place has no personality. The waiter was pleasant, but he was obsessed with cleaning. Other than us, there were only a few other diners, but the service was not very efficient for lunch, since the only server was busy scrubbing booth benches and tables the entire time. As clean as the dining area and bathroom is, the doors in the back of the restaurant leading to the bathroom are filthy and in disrepair. It would be such an easy fix to paint and repair them. I really look forward to trying other food at this restaurant, but we will probably order take out in the future. read more

I stopped in here at 8:05pm one night driving through, because I found them on this here Yelp app and it said they were open until 8:30. People were def still inside eating and the fluorescent Open sign was on. Server guy didn't acknowledge me and walked right past a couple times before impolitely just saying "We close at 8. I forgot to turn off the sign." when I asked if I could order takeout. He just turned around and walked away. All he had to do was show the slightest bit of remorse or apologize or not be a total turd and I wouldn't be writing this. I'm always reluctant to back off stars for a local restaurant. But after eating here additional times, including today, the overall package is more 3 than 4 star worthy . Each time the restaurant has been spartan for decor But sparkling clean. Each time the sound system offers up old chestnuts from performers of times past like Doris Day and Connie Francis and Neal Sedaka. With volume pleasantly low. Each time the server has been pleasant and efficient. But each time the service is on the slower side because he or she is spread too thin across too many tables. Each time the menu has fair prices for Thai classics in generous portions. But each time the food is pretty good but not stellar, maybe lacking finesse for seasoning (as in too restrained) and sauces (as in too heavily applied). Whoever "they" are say consistency is key for restaurants. Thai O is consistently AOK. When we have a hankering for Thai food that simply won't wait for a trip to Portland, Thai O is where we think to go for the best Thai food available in the Bend area. If you set your expectations for a 3 star experience you should be AOK in choosing Thai O too. But if you are expecting 4 star, you may be disappointed. In the end, satisfaction is about expectations and reality being in synch. read more

If you want triple fried chicken nuggets with sweet and sour then yelp best Asian food central Oregon. Granted Thai-o is lacking the orgasmic flavor of 1 am satay and rice in Pattaya. After spending the last hour eating two legged Thai bargirl clams. but it's much more sanity then a Thai noodle shop at 1am . So if you looking for a good thai meal in co then stop in and enjoy. Thai O in Redmond did us right last night! I was watching the Netflix series "Street Food" and decided I needed some Thai in my life. Bought waaaayyy too much food but fed me and my 5 year old for dinner last night and tonight. The pad Thai was amazing and the hot chili oil they make there in house is my favorite thing in the world. The peanut sauce is pretty amazing as well. Oh, and the pineapple curry. Pretty spicy but I like it that way. Really great balance of savory, spicy and sweet. Spring rolls, bought both the soft and the crunchy. Pad Thai with tofu, pineapple curry with tofu, and chicken satay. All of this plus a Thai iced tea and and 20% tip was right around $50. The service could be a little more engaging and friendly, but that's okay. They weren't by any means rude, just felt pretty distant. All in all, great food and good atmosphere. The pad kee mao (drunken noodles) is BOMB. It did not disappointment. I have very high standards when it comes to pad kee mao, but I was well pleased with the flavors here. I substituted egg for carrots and they charged me an extra dollar for the egg. Not worth it. One star off for that, considering egg should be a standard that comes with pad kee mao. The food is so hit and miss! Never great but sometimes it's decent. NOT TONIGHT. The Beef Salad was like they had never even been to Thailand before! I mean such a truly horrid rendition of a dish that I generally absolutely love....from other restaurants. They are located in the plaza of Fred Meyer on the garden side. They had a decent size restaurant and when we arrived they had two tables of order and 3 take outs on a Friday night in the summer, and were decently prompt with service. The woman who was serving was helpful and fast. We had take out for the first time here and while Thai food is usually a safe bet I didn't clarify the pad Thai was gluten free and therefore didn't try it. However, my grandma liked it and she's used to true Thai food. The portions were decent and the masaman curry I had was fantastic!!!! No allergic reaction and phenomenal taste means I'd definitely be back. I'm not familiar with the area but they were decently close to where we were staying and well worth the walk to get it. We used to enjoy going here but had a really bad experience. We are both 100% permanent Disabled Vets. We have a Service Dog, in a Service Vest. She's extremely well behaved. We were with another Vet with his Service Dog who also had a Service Vest on. We've gone out with Yankee and his owner on multiple occasions and never had an issue. Every owner and restaurant worker knew the Law. As the Vet (who had just recovered from a stroke!) and Yankee walked past the counter the owner overheard something, he asked what the manager or owner had said ... , the rest is what follows) The young man said "I don't believe dogs should be in restaurants", the Veteran said "excuse me, what did you say?" The owner or manager repeated "I just don't feel an animal should be in a restaurant". The Vet asked him "if he knew about the laws regarding service animals?" he said "he did not". We showed him the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). It didn't impress him!!! We will NOT be visiting a place that treats our Vets or anyone with disabilities that way. Great flavors! The amount of "hot" for the medium spice was perfect. Good sized portions meant I had leftovers for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is quite simple and there is plenty of room to be distanced from other diners. They happened to have been short staffed the day we went, but we weren't in a big hurry and the wait was worth it. Went to Thai O for lunch.When you walk in it says seat yourself. We sat to the right when you walk into the restaurant in a corner both. We waited about 10 minutes for the waiter and finally moved the front of the restaurant where we could be seen by the waiter. About 5 minutes later the waiter finally arrived. I have never written about seating in any restaurants. BUT, the booths you sit in are the most uncomfortable seating I have ever sat on. In the middle of the seat is a wood framed bar that makes you sit where you can only sit in an area where you sink into your seat. Not very comfortable. The food is fairly good .We had the Garlic Pepper Stir Fried with Chicken. Chicken was over cooked but plenty of veggies. We also had the Pad Kee Mao. It is similar to Pad See Ew but it had more veggies. There are not many options for Thai in Redmond. We would go back when we are in the mood for Thai but Bend has more options. read more

We came here at the recommendation from a lady at the local butcher. I had the Drunken Noodle and I really enjoyed it. The mix of Basil and roasted garlic made for a great flavor combination. New ownership - Before the change in ownership I ate here several times a month. I love thai food and it always did the trick. Now, I am eating here sometimes twice a week. Their food is on a whole new level and it is awesome! I can't think of a better restaurant in Redmond. I am a huge food snob and Thai food snob. So, you should trust me. Some of the stir fries have blown my mind. The Pad pet is a must! I tried the Cashew nut delight and thought it was better than the Pad pet, but I realized both are amazing and I will just keep going back and forth till the end of time. The pineapple fried rice and basil fried rice are both crazy good. Monday night is Pad Thai special ($7) and the Pad Thai is so good. I can't live without their fresh rolls. I order them every time. This is the worse place I have been to in Redmond! We were there for our weekly date night with our close friends. When we arrived we noticed that there was only one person taking care of the entire restaurant and two cooks in the kitchen. After we were seated, it took approximately 25 minutes to get menus. Another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Almost 55 minutes to get our food. Some of our food did not come. When the Server was approached, the Server said, " this is the worse table I have ever served " We just wanted our food that we ordered. Needless to say, we will never go there again. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Service was terrible. Food was fair. Needs to hire more people who have people skills. read more

Hard as I might try to give these guys a break, I cannot. Here's how it pans out at Thai O; Redmond's newest Thai restaurant -- at least I think it's supposed to be Thai. Maybe Thai on the sweet side. Thai O opens in what used to be Kyoto's a slightly more popular oriental restaurant, hit no doubt by the hard economic times. In fact, it looks like the old owners just put down their knives, locked the doors and walked away, leaving everything perfectly in place for the new owners of Thai O to take over. Hopefully they dusted off the grill before they fired it up the first time. Located in the Fred Meyer shopping center, the first thing that hit me when we opened the doors was a thick cloud of grease. Okay, so maybe a lot of Thai cuisine is fried these days, but it's just not pleasant when grease leaves a noticeable film on all of the surfaces ... tables, chairs, windows. Aside from that, there is not a whole lot to offer about the decor. Let's just say, it's not pretty. And if being pretty isn't one of your dining requirements, maybe you won't mind the droning 50's music that plays in the background either. So, I thought, perhaps I'm being a bit harsh here, let's give these guys a chance. We ordered off of the appetizer menu to start ... give it a shot with the combination plate. Oh boy. Well, the spring rolls (at least I think they were spring rolls) were good and the fried (chicken) won ton's weren't bad either. But the sauces were exceedingly sweet as was the chicken fried rice we ordered a bit later. Hot chili, peanut and even the cucumber chutney-type sauce was very, very sweet. No doubt they use palm sugar, which apparently is in many Thai recipes, but never mind 'spicy' as most people would associate with Thai food these days as there was very little of that in the dishes we sampled. Even the curry chicken turned out to be bland pieces of chicken coated in mild curry spice. All of this leaves one to wonder what happened to the garlic and pounded coriander root? Where are the delectable spicy-hot curries, savory herbs, exotic spices, leaves, roots and coconut milk? What happened to the spicy aromatic combinations we have come to associate with Thai food? To be fair, we did not order every item off of the menu, so some of those elements must be in the cuisine of Thai O ... they just must be there. And, while we waited for our food to arrive a fair number of folks did pop in for take-out, so maybe there is more to Thai O than I experienced. Isn't there anything nice to say about Thai O? The beer was good, but of course it came out of a bottle. And, the wine was great, same deal. Will we go back to Thai O soon? Not likely. Can I recommend it to Yelp followers? Not likely. But you go ahead and see what you think, and if you discover that they've stepped it up a bit, send me a note and I'll give it another try. Maybe. read more

Being from the SF area of California, we have had the chance to experience some sensational Thai food, but even in an area where there are a lot of folks from Thailand and a lot of restaurants there is also a lot of really bad or mediocre Thai. This place doesn't have a lot of warmth or charm, but I am rarely looking for that in a neighborhood place, especially in the middle of Oregon. What they did have was some very tasty, solid Thai food, the service was friendly and efficient, and it was a very good value. We started with the crab wonton, which were very crispy, but didn't have much of a cream cheese flavor that we are used to, had the drunken noodles and red curry - both very tasty, and garlic pepper stir fry, which was also good. The three of us ate our fill and still had plenty of leftovers. We left sated and smiling. The way you should always leave a good restaurant. read more
