Zoinks. The steak is a delight, too, though - don't get me wrong. I am a Hanger devotee, and the Shambles' version was stellar. Such great natural flavor - it hardly needed the demi/ butter, but gilding the lily never hurt anybody. Service here is friendly and helpful - if you have questions, the capable staff will steer you. My one note: skip dessert so that you can focus on the savory menu items (not that the sweets were bad, they just get outshone by the salty stuff).

@Valentino, you obviously didn't know anything and yet you acted like you know everything. First of all, me and my family and friends went to Thai One On since the first week they opened! We have a very big community of friends and often recommend restaurants among each others..and whenever I went to Thai One On, there's a guarantee that I will meet one of our friends..and on that day, we had our friends on the other table and they can be the witness too for what happened from the very beginning since we entered the restaurant. You obviously wasn't there from the beginning of the problem. The owner, John, wasn't there ( you said he was ). I didn't have any problem with the other servers, I mentioned earlier the server that replaced Jang was very nice and we talked with her and she agreed with us, she tried to talk with Jang but I guess Jang was too stubborn. As a frequent customer, you should know that many of times when the restaurant wasn't full, people just sit them selves and from previous experiences..it was okay ( we had some friends that can be witness from this ) but aside from that,the problem was the sign was too small and the very first ppl from our party didn't see the sign and had waited for a while but no server came. The main problem, I know we did a mistake by seating ourself.. but the server Jang didn't have to talk and act rude, she could say it nicely (geez), Valentino, I'm sure you didn't sit next to us at that time and you clearly didn't know what happened, you just stepped in the middle and blindly defended them because you had a good experience in the restaurant. I could accept your rebutal to my review if you were actually witnessed the whole thing and heard EVERYTHING, you were actually wrote things when we talked to her in front of the cashier when we paid for the check ( I assumed you sit near the cashier ). If you were in our shoes at that time, you will be upset too ( who doesn't), I Had been to many restaurants in all over the world, from the $ to $$$ ( this information only for comparison), I did mistake too but none of the server talked that rude to me, I experienced rude servers too in other part of the world, but AGAIN..not as rude as the server Jang @Thai One On. That's kinda Ironic. PS: You said it was a lie that the server yelled at us, I can assure you that she was the one that yelled to us on the very FIRST place that caused this problem, we tried to talk to her nicely and told her that she just yelled at one of us and it was inappropriate and yet she kept on talking and pointed out our mistake harshly ( again the problem was she could say it nicer ). I didn't even yell at her even once until the end, none of us banging our hands , maybe in this case, one of us was very upset on how the server ignorance and slapped her hand against the table lightly .. you said Thai one on is the best thai restaurant that you have ever tasted..clearly you need to expand your experience maybe I can show you around? and stop being so hyperbolic on things that you wrote, such as " they said the owner doesn't care" , "The only one yelling was the customer, who demanded an apology for a mistake they made themselves. On top of yelling, the customer came up to the waitress's station and started banging her hands on the counter, yelling and demanding an apology for her own ignorance." ( these remind me of a Tabloid writers ), and PLEASE before you tried to rebut my review, read the point/main of the problem thoroughly and again make sure you know the main of the problem. Re: Maya T's review: I guess I should have stated that clearer in the first review, but your assumption is wrong, I have a first hand knowledge of this incident from beginning to the end. Also I did not say owner was there, I said that owner and the 2 of the waitresses (including Jang) have been with the restaurant since at least 2005, and yes I know John, his wife and most of the waitresses fairly well. Next, if you really eat out often, you'd know that waiting to be seated is a common etiquette, and just simple manners, which you seen to have not much of. More on that later. You stated that the sign was too small. So is that to say it is too small for you, but somehow it seems to work fine for thousands of customers they have had in years? May I suggest prescription glasses? Or perhaps a book on restaurant etiquette? Next thing: Jang was not rude, nor did she yell at you even ONCE. Yes, she pointed out one (out of few) mistakes you made, as she should have, so that you don't do them again. She was not rude at all, just pointed out your mistake, at the end you are a customer, not a God. Admit it, apologize and move on, and the incident wouldn't have happened in the first place! I can assure, I heard both sides of the conversation. Wasn't that hard since the place was half empty and you were yelling. Speaking of mistakes, since you decided to seat yourself in a half empty restaurant, why sit at a dirty table, and then complain about it? I know for a fact they had clean ones at that time. So how can you ignore the sign, sit at a dirty table, complain about the dirty table, and then expect an apology?! Once again, may I suggest a book on manners?? Speaking of manners, if you want to tell the truth, please DO NOT leave out an inconvenient detail out of the story. I am talking about things that you conveniently omitted in the first review, that now come up and you admit to them. Things like banging on the counter, yelling, demanding an apology, seating yourself. If you gonna tell the truth, tell the whole story. Last thing: as you "forget" inconvenient details, you don't seem to pay attention to my review either. I said it was the best Thai food in Washington that I tried, not ever. Don't make assumptions, because you will only insert the foot deeper in your mouth. I have had Thai food in many places around this world, including Thailand. In Thailand I happen to have home made food, food from street vendors, and food from high class restaurants. You don't know who I am, where I have been, and what I have done, so don't make assumptions, and don't let your ego get the better of you. read more

The first time we went to Thai One On, it was amazing. We went for lunch and I had Pinapple Curry while he got the Crouching Tiger. We were so thrilled, we ordered delivery the same week. Maybe this is a fluke, but every time I've ordered since then, T.O.O has brought the suck. They have mixed up spiciness levels (I prefer mild, while he prefers so-spicy-your-tongue-is-about-to-fall-off) on nearly all dishes since. He loves eating here but after trying 6 different dishes, I'm out of options. The last time we ate there, I ordered the Crouching Tiger again. I know they got it right once, so this was my fallback. When I dove in, the meat was over-vinegared. It tasted like cat pee smells (I would know, I work with animals). My dog wouldn't even eat it! They have such great reviews, I'd hate to tarnish thier rep, but I can't give this place any better than 2stars. read more

As always, the food is way too sweet to please the Americans. Make sure you study your credit card slip. Cross off , strike out, put a match to the tips area. My lunch was $ 9 with $2 cash tip placed on table. Four people in the group, lunch average $9 per person. We each placed $2 tip each on the table. I was the only one paid with credit card, I found extra $3 tip add to my credit card when I look it up on line( I have not seen the restaurant copy to see how the wait person did it, I wrote straight arrow all the way down to total with the final amount filled out ) My $9 lunch, need $5 in tip total. We were randomly driving around and spotted in because the name gave us a giggle! We started with the crying tiger which was awesome the steak was totally flavorful and great dipping sauce! Then had the Pad Thai which was very good and I am very picky with my Pad Thai. It was not ketchup and didn't clump and had that but of tangy bite I crave! Finished with the khao soi soup. This is my favorite N.thai dish! This version was tasty but didn't knock my socks off. I like the chicken to be bone-in but still a worthy contender with a little added chili garlic sauce to give it that extra kick. All and all very nice rich broth. I just wanna say that I was there on the night of the problem between Maya T. and the Thai One On server. I sat about 2 tables away on the left row from her table and I saw that there was a problem there but I couldn't hear anything, so regarding on what Valentino's said that they were yelling and everybody could hear it, It wasn't true. As I remembered, table right next to hers was empty,so after I read Valentino's replay, I kinda questioning his reliability. I have to agree the mentioned server was unfriendly that night, she probably had a bad day. I wish people could be more understanding toward each other then this problem won't be happened. read more

I don't know where all this player hating is coming from, but Thai One On is as good as it gets in Lake City. There is some really great food around here, but the asian food is lacking big time! Thai One On is a crown jewel among cubic zirconias. I've made it a point to order something new here every time, and they have yet to serve me something unsatisfactory. The price is a little high, but other then that the service, and food is amazing. Please don't pass this place up based on a few bad reviews. If your not sure then play it safe order the chicken pad thai, and make your own opinion after that. read more

You can call me a bit of a Thai addict. I will drive from one end of town to the other to get to a new place, and sometimes I will even brave the East side. I've spent quite a bit of time in Thailand. When I'm in the mood for good Thai(land)-style food like laarb and yum, this is the place that I go to. The ingredients are authentic, and the preparation is generally spot-on. Service is also good. It can get a bit noisy on weekend evenings, so go early or late. read more

My last visit, was a call in and pick up order with my friend. The restaurant forgot to put one of the items in the bag-- no big deal. We called them and they told us to come back the following day since we got the order right before closing and had drove home and they were closed by then. My friend went to the restaurant the next day and they gave the same fried crab Rangoon's from the prior day that they forgot to put in my bag. We know because they were cold, not hot and the box cracked open, likely to let out the steam last night but that means the box was left open all night. This turned me all the way off... as there has to be some sort of health code for giving a customer a day old fried fish instead of just recooking the item that you forgot to place in the bag.

When we picked up the order, it was done, right on time. The restaurant was very nice inside.. and it was perfect for a quiet for dinner. Everything we chose was fantastic! Flavors were all on point, but the stand out dishes were the Crispy Garlic Chicken and the Panang Curry. The chicken was deep golden crisp, yet the meat was moist, tender and flavorful -- it was just unexpectedly elite. Panang Curry was still really hot (just how we like it) when we got home, and it was creamy and delicious with lots of chicken and veggies, perfect with the steamed rice. Super looking forward to going back and trying new things, but we will probably never visit without getting that crispy garlic chicken again and again!

The entrance to the left was to the Sing Along Room, where happy hour was in full swing. We could hear all the joyous laughter drifting from next door as we paused in the main entry way. We were welcomed by a pleasant wait person and shown to a comfy booth. It has a dated exterior, but after being seated in the main dining room, I found it to be clean and well kept. I liked the framed prints, huge murals, aquarium, and well maintained booths and seating. I learned that it is coming up on three years under current ownership. The dinner menu had a nice variety of appetizers, entrees, dinner combos, and group dinner selections. We opted for hot tea, the appetizer platter, almond chicken, curry beef, and steamed rice. The appetizer platter had charsiu with hot mustard, ketchup, and sesame seeds for dipping. There were also vegetable egg rolls with another dipping sauce, fried chicken wing flats, cream cheese crab wontons, and butterflied fried shrimp. Perfect for sharing and palate pleasing. The Homie's baseline at Cantonese and/or Chinese American spots is how a restaurant executes almond chicken. Royal Unicorn did a good job where it was generous, flavorful, not overly breaded or oily, and was moist. I opted for curry beef and was happy to see that their version had a nice mix of perfectly cooked vegetables with tender beef. Again, generous and flavorful. Both entrees were savored with perfectly fresh steamed rice. We were also checked on, water glasses refilled, and provided a teapot refill, which were greatly appreciated. We look forward to return and check out other entrees on their menu. Definitely added this to the dining out rotation in Shoreline.
