Thai Pin isn't authentic but it doesn't strive to be so. I don't get the strong Thai flavors here that I've come to expect from other Thai restaurants but that might be the result of Thai Pin's customer base not expecting that either. Of the dishes I sampled, the Roti was ok, but the curry that came with the entree was watery and bland. It lacked the punch you'd want to start a Thai meal. The roti was also a bit thicker than I expected and wasn't the type that was layered, thin and crusty. The Curry Duck on the other hand was good. The dish included a thinly sliced breast of a duck, layered on top of a Penang type curry sauce with chunks of eggplant, tomatoes and pineapples. The duck meat did have a multiple odd slits on the side without the skin, which I assume was due to it being skewered and grilled first, otherwise if was a bit odd to see. Finally the curry had a hint of spicy and went well with the rice. The Vegetation Tofu appetizer on the other hand was terrible. The stuffing, bean sprouts and peanut sauce, may have been fresh, but the tofu itself left a majority opinion that it was extremely dry and inedible. I'm from Flushing, NY where there's an abundance of Asian options available and I was really hoping I could get some good Thai food while I was in New Jersey. Thai Pin epitomizes the Thai food service in the area. Very friendly and attentive service, modern and simple ambiance, delicious and spicy food, and... leans on the expensive side. The fish, fried and presented in a spiraling form, is a tour de force on your taste buds. Crunchy to the bone (don't miss the fins!), it's a amazingly well-done treat. The basic pad thai, pineapple fried rice is surprisingly... average. I was expecting the pineapple fried rice to have chunks of pineapple inside it as I've seen it done in the West Coast (or elsewhere). This one is basically a regular fried rice in a pineapple container -- but it kept the grade up for the flavorful and delicious delivery. The tasty chicken rendang and the opener roti canai are deliciously cooked with deep, spicy broth. Thai Pin never disappoints if you are interested in having some Thai food for dinner! My sister and I stopped in for an early dinner to avoid the later crowds and we were seated right away. We ordered a few appetizers and I decided on the Mongolian Beef for an entree. This dish is served with a side of white rice and the portion was just the right amount. For appetizers, I highly recommend trying the Satay (mix); the combination of the dipping sauce tasted delicious. If you are looking for a dish with a kick, the Spiced Calamari is definitely for you! Not only was the food amazing, but the service was incredible! I have never been served so fast and when I saw a dinner party leave, the servers cleared the table within seconds. I feel a little sad to update my review for the worse, but my recent experience causes me to do so. We came in with about a group of 12 for my sister's birthday. I do understand that we were a large group. However, we did have a reservation ahead. Once we were all seated, it took almost 20 minutes just to get served cups of water, which came out warm and tasted like tap. It took about another 20 minutes just to get our orders gathered after calling over our waiter to do so. I had ordered Thai Red Curry with Coconut Rice, which the waiter informed would be an extra charge. I was fine with this, because the menu said so, and the Coconut Rice has been a favorite of mine. Once the food came out, multiple dishes came out incorrectly and different than what we ordered. I received jasmine rice instead of Coconut Rice, which was a bit upsetting considering that I was being charged extra for it. I did inform the waiter however, and I finally received my Coconut Rice. The curry was decent overall; it's one that I've ordered several times before. What really made this review get such low ratings is the poor service. In a sit-down restaurant, the service really does make the experience. Sadly, it was extremely lacking this time. I'm deeply disappointed because this place used to be really good. Today i made the trip for some Tom kha soup (my absolute favorite dish). I usually go to pru Thai in Pennington for this but they only have an appetizer size so i decided to try Thai pun's again. It just tastes like chicken and veggies in coconut milk which is NOT Tom kha soup. There is no lemongrass or galangal and that's a damn shame. I will not be returning sadly. read more

Every town needs a "go to" Thai restaurant. Unfortunately, Thai Pin is NOT that restaurant - at least, if you are vegetarian/in the mood for vegetarian fare. Some of their noodle dishes have egg in them. Okay, cool! So, say you want chicken pad thai or mee siam. You get egg as well as meat. So far, so good. Now, say you want vegetable pad thai. As soon as you say "vegetarian", BOOM. No egg for you. Even if you ask, it's an additional $2 to add eggs to a dish that ALREADY COMES WITH EGGS if you are getting the chicken or beef or whatever-meat-you-want version. When I pressed them for answers, they simply said, "Vegetarian version doesn't come with egg, sorry. But we can add eggs for $2!" What?? Dude. You're already saving money by using vegetables instead of meat. Just give me the goddamn egg. Oh, and if you order 'extra tofu' they only give you 2-3 extra pieces of tofu, max. Not worth the cost. Overall, I wouldn't recommend (for vegetarians), unless this place changes its policy. Oh, and the best part? They are wildly inconsistent. In the pantheon of Asian foods, Thai may be my favorite. I think many feel likewise, and would probably agree that not all "Thai restaurants" are created equal. When you find a new one close by you cherish it, and return again and again to sample the varied delicacies. This might just be one such spot. Yelpers alerted me to this gem that is tucked slightly away in a strip mall off of QB road. They've only been open 3 months and the only business was a few takeouts while I was there. The friendly server told me they are a little busier some days, and dinner seems more popular than lunch. I knew I had to try their roti canai, it was a bit thicker than I have encountered elsewhere but perfectly crisp and suitable for dipping in the chicken curry sauce. Soup comes with their lunches and today it was a vegetarian hot and sour. It did remind me a bit of the Chinese version, but this was better. My entree was potato and chicken curry, and was done with dark meat. Very tasty and it had a great Masaman curry like flavor. They do not skimp on the spices, a whole star anise was in my bowl. There are several options in their Express lunch menu that are about $9, a person so inclined could eat their way through much of the menu. But I intend to return for a dinner, maybe duck, maybe red snapper. "Pin" this place into your bookmarks. read more

The Curry puffs were stuffed full, I'd order them again - more on the spicy side. The Summer rolls were the star for me, the shrimps were quite nice, and the peanut sauce probably the best I've had. I could have ordered several and made a meal out of that. My husband said the duck buns were just okay. The crispy basil...while the serving size was ample - however it didn't satisfy my longing. Probably because I prefer the pork version (this spot is halal) - I missed that glorious fried egg, the use of holy basil, and a side of nam pla prik. This version was also on the more liquid side/lots of thin sauce. I prefer a more dry style. While the flavor was still good - it missed the exact mark for me. If this review was based strictly on service, I would have easily given it five stars. Unfortunately, the mediocre food is what made me knock off two stars. My family and I went here for dinner on a Sunday night after searching for an informal Thai restaurant in the area. We hadn't hear anything about Thai Pin, but the reviews looked good enough for us to give it a try. We were all starving when we arrived and were quick to order appetizers. We decided on a few orders of Roti Pratas with curry potato chicken sauce, Thai Pin Dumplings, and Satay Chicken. The Pratas were great, although different from the Roti Canai we are all very fond of. The roti wasn't paper thin and folded over like we're used to. It was fried and doughy, and about the the size of a pita. The curry potato chicken sauce was fantastic though. Flavorful and very spicy! I savored every last spoonful. The Thai Pin Dumplings and Satay were both good, but nothing special or memorable. As for my entrees, my sister and I ordered vegetarian Pad Thai and Cashew Nut Chicken to share. I thought the Pad Thai was quite possibly the blandest I have ever had. I did appreciate the fresh vegetables though. The Cashew Nut Chicken had a tad bit more of a flavor to it. I liked it a bit more than the Pad Thai, although that's not really saying much. Despite my disappointment with the food, I cannot commend Thai Pin enough for such warm and welcoming staff members. Our waiter was such a gentleman who had a constant smile on his face. We were very excited to find a good Thai place in the area as we are always looking for new options to try on for dinner on weekends. Thai pin was just that and it didn't disappoint. The place is newish, clean, quick service and good Thai food. Since it was our first time here we wanted to play it safe and tried typical options like Pad thai, Pad See Ew and veg. fried rice. Pad See Ew was made with fresh vegetables and tofu. It was bit spicy but that was expected. Thai iced coffees were sweet and served in mason jar instead of typical tall glasses. prices are reasonable and portions were good. Over all a pretty good experience. When it came it was very oily and frankly no taste Noodle - sub par as noodles were sticky It seemed as if they basically warmed up some left over food and gave it to us. One of the decent cheap eats that I head over for lunch during weekdays. As I glance over regular prices, I may not come at night for the value. The place has a simple Thai decoration with some couch on the seats. I've tried the red curry with beef and fried onion ginger beef on the lunch menu. The set provides a very generous amount of rice although I thought it could have provided more beef and sauce (hey but it's really cheap, can't complain). Beef satay was very moist and tender, thai pin fish cake was very tasty, papaya salad was refreshing with a kick and summer roll was ok. For entree, we had beef masamman curry and shrimp pad thai. I had some hesitation coming here after reading some mixed reviews, but the menu had a good variety of Thai and Malaysian dishes, so I made the leap of faith. I wanted to give as overall rating of 3.5, with the food being a 3/5 and service being a 5/5. Thai Pin is a modern looking and nicely adorned with Thai/Asian decor. The squid was a winner for me. The roti cani, and noodle dishes were just ok and nothing spectacular. The noodles were done right, just the flavors weren't on point. The pad kee mao was a little too sweet and only mildly spicy. The char kway teow needed more soy sauce as it was in the blander side. I also ordered a Thai ice tea thinking it would be comped with a yelp check in, but it wasn't because it wasn't a weekday lunch. It was good. Was reading, fellow Yelper, Roma's review on how she was stiffed with the baby corn, and I had to chuckle because there were only 2 pieces of baby corn in our pad kee mao as well! Very nice menu options and great/helpful servers. For us however spice level is an issue even after asking to bring spice down. Reason is that we'd rather have a little spice (mild) and be able to taste all the great flavors of the food. When their spice level is higher or for dishes that they can't modify spice, your mouth is "burnt", basically can't taste the great flavors. We tried 2 times and the second time we couldn't taste and appreciate what we were eating. What a cute, trendy, and delicious restaurant! After somewhat of a struggle to decide on and find a restaurant in the area, we finally decided on this place early on a Saturday evening. Walking in to the restaurant, the smells definitely confirmed that we made the right decision. With such a vast menu, it was rather hard to decide what to order but I tend to like sweet and spicy dishes so I went with the Tropical Mango with Chicken. YUM! Don't take it lightly when there is a chili pepper (or two!) next to the dish on the menu here because that stuff is SPICY. I may or may not have asked them to make it extra spicy (not sure at this point) but my throat was burning for a while. But it was so delicious and completely worth it. The mango was super fresh and a great compliment to the chicken and veggies in the dish. Thai Iced Tea is a must here and definitely helps wash the spiciness down. My boyfriend ordered his favorite, Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao), which was yummy and spicy as well. While he claims that it was sweeter than drunken noodles should be, I didn't find that to be the case in the few bites that I stole. I actually quite liked it. Finally, we finished off with Mango Sticky Rice. I was too full at this point to fully enjoy it, but it was certainly really yummy and oozing with coconut milk. This is the closest Thai restaurant near me. I come here frequently but in the past 4-6 months this place has changed. It has gone downhill. My husband and I ordered (to go) vegetable Red Curry with tofu extra mushrooms and the Mongolian Beef with brown rice. We were charged for brown rice $2.50 and extra mushrooms $3. The rice was hard and under cooked, and I got 2 small cubes of tofu and no mushrooms. My bill was $40.36. What the hell!! What a rip off. I heard a lot of great reviews for Thai Pina and was excited to try it out but unfortunately my experience left me quite disappointed. One of my major issues was the service. After my party was seated it took about 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that we were there and greet us. Afterwards, it took another 15 minutes for us to receive water, which was lukewarm and had no ice. When our orders arrived there were plenty of mistakes and mix ups without any regards by the servers to try to get it fixed. We had to continuously ask for our right orders. It was really unfortunate because the place is quite nice and the food was not bad. I had the red curry with chicken and coconut rice. The curry was very flavorful, however the rice did not arrive until much later so by the time I got to eat it it was not hot. The coconut rice was definitely the highlight of the meal and really went well with the curry. Ambiance: Comfy and clean. Love that the booths have decorative pillows that function as snug backrests as well. Certainly one of the nicer Thai restaurants I've been to! Food: I was RAVING about the Pad Kee Mao after my first visit. It had a different, yet deliciously savory taste that made it unlike any other PKM I've ever had. The lime on the side makes for the perfect addition to the flavorful dish. Spice levels here are: mild, medium, or spicy and hold true. I was so excited to introduce my parents to Thai Pin (we loooove Thai), but to my dismay, the next visit thoroughly disappointed. I was almost embarrassed to have been talking this place up so much! The appetizers I've tried were subpar - the Curry Samosa and Thai Spring Rolls (don't waste your calories on these and save more room for the PKM!). The PKM was still great yaaaas. Then, we ordered the Pad Basil with tofu (located on the "All Time Favorites" portion of the menu), and it was literally an entire block of tofu cut up, put in the pan, and drenched with sauce. Never again - worst Thai dish I've ever had. Also, regular rice beats (insert greater than sign here) coconut rice. Prices: A few dollars more than my regular go-to Thai restaurants, but I guess prices can be a bit inflated with the location (in clo$e proximity to Princeton area... if you catch my drift). The thing that got me is that they're very stingy! $3 extra for baby corn being added to a chicken dish... I asked for no mushrooms and to double the corn but was told that taking out something doesn't allow me to substitute something else. Service: I'd give the service a 3/10- Felt rushed while the waiter was taking our order even though we came at an off time and there were literally zero other customers. The waiter did not ask us for what spice levels we wanted and began walking away as I was still talking... he did a half turn to listen and kept walking before I was finished. The time before that (don't remember if it was the same waiter) the service was terrible too. Other: - This Thai restaurant does not have a break between lunch and dinner! - 10% off of your check if you pay in cash. - Free Thai iced tea if you check in on Yelp, but it must be during lunch hours! My waiter did not accept the coupon at 3:30 since lunch ends at 3:00. - I came in the middle of the day (around 3pm) and the entire restaurant reeked like Clorox Bleach. The food is so good here and it's always made in a good amount of time- we usually do take out. We love the chicken satay in the apps. The fried rice, noodles, beef and chicken Thai curry dishes are all so great. Definitely would recommend! read more

I'm a huge Thai food fan and I've worked at a Thai restaurant as a server before. Thai Pin has always been recommended to me by my friends. I've been there once before and it was okay. I went again today with my friends and ordered something different. This menu was pretty much identical to the menus of the other Thai restaurants in the area which is kind of a bummer. We started with the veggie roti. It came with one roti and a dipping sauce. For over $4, it's a little steep. I would expect to get at least two Rotis for that much money. The lunch special is great. You get a soup and entree for around $10 which is a great deal. Drunken noodle (PadKeeMao) is one of my favorite Thai dishes but for some reason when I had it here it was sweeter than usual and not spicy at all. I also didn't really taste any Thai basil, which is my favorite part of the dish. I would just stick to pad Thai, the curries, or the green curry fried rice. The food was very good. We went on a Friday night and had pad Thai, pad see lew, wonton soup, and salt and pepper squid, along with mango sticky rice for dessert. The restaurant was a bit busy and service was a little slow, but we will definitely go back again. read more
