Before we moved away from this neighborhood, we enjoyed lunch or dinner here at least once a month & it was always delicious. So last night's dinner here I was eager to have our normal experience, but it was even better than we remembered! Our usual Swimming Ocean Soup w/ coconut milk was especially flavorful & packed with seafood. I had heard a lot of positive comments about Thai Siam, not only about their tasty food, but also about the support they give to the community, so I had to finally try it on a lazy Sunday. First of all, this place has parking, which is a huge plus in Seattle, easy parking too. Location is very convenient and easy to access as well. I have only gotten takeout, but the place is definitely cozy to sit down and eat there. When I called they were busy taking calls, but still my order was ready in less than 20 minutes. I ordered the angel wings and chicken fried rice and it was all delicious, and huge portions so I have enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow as well. I haven't been to Thailand yet, but this was great for thai takeout here in the US. What surprised me was getting the thai tea bottled instead of the usual to go cup, but then turns out it's locally bottled for Thai Siam, and the proceeds of it go to local charities; also, the bottled thai tea comes with more tea as it's not full of ice, win! My favorite Thai place in the Seattle area! They had good tom yum soup with shrimp that comes in a boiling pot! The lemon grass flavor stands out and I will definitely get this again. Thai Siam is a solid option for your Thai food cravings. It has become my go-to if I'm in the area. Ample on-site parking spots. Menu is very extensive to the point I wish they would simplify it. With that said, you can pretty much find almost every single Thai dish you can name. Here's a few that I had: *Thai Siam Curry Noodle Thai noodle in creamy green curry. Really good! Noodle cooked well and the flavor of the curry really shone through. Ordered it with 3 out of 4 stars spiciness level to give it a spice kick! *Crispy Garlic Chicken It was flavorful! The breading and choice of sauce were slightly distinct from other similar dishes I've had but the flavor profile was spot on. *The Fire Breathing Dragon Shrimps This immediately caught my attention as it has the warning on the menu: "eat at your own risk, no refund." Being an avid spicy food addict that I am, I was totally up for the challenge!!! The server warned me multiple times and I reassured her I was sane and ready to devour the dish. Sauteed prawn in fiery garlic sauce accompanied by aromatic coconut rice. Everything was seasoned to perfection! It was definitely spicy but not the spiciest food I've had. However, absolutely not for the faint of heart. The overall flavor, how should I put it? Tasty AF! Licked it clean down to the last bits of chilli pepper. The server told me only a handful of people were able to finish it, proud of myself =P. In the end, my mouth might've taken it well, but my gut betrayed me.. Bathroom trip was inevitable (whoops TMI). I also found out they hold annual benefit dinner in August and the proceeds are donated to "Union Gospel Mission" and "Cancer Lifeline" in Seattle as well as "Think Small" and "Foundation for the Blind" in Thailand. They've been doing it since 1988! They also provide free meal for those in need during Christmas day. Hats off to you Thai Siam! TDLR: get dessert and try a drink. Food is very fresh! Dimly but comfortably lit. Menu items are a little on the pricey side. Large menu with lots of options. Dessert and drink menu displayed on table. Check it out! Service: wait to be seated, order at table, check brought to table, leftovers will be boxed for you. Fresh Rolls: I'm impressed by the freshness of this. The veggies in the rolls were very crisp! They do contain cilantro for those of you who aren't a fan. The plum sauce is very good. I'm also a fan of the thin vermicelli noodles. Peanut sauce is on the average side for me. If you want really good peanut sauce go to Chaiyo Thai. Satay: the chicken ok by itself--not much flavor--so you really gotta use that peanut sauce. Cucumber salad was very fresh and tangy but there is very little of it. Tip: don't inhale with your mouth when you take a bite--the vinegar will exorcise your throat of any and all vermin if you do! Siam Pad Thai: typical pad Thai but a lot of it. Got zero spice and was pleased. Pork slices were pretty generous--the noodle to meat ratio was acceptable; you know how some places totally skimp out on the goods? This place didn't seem to. Tropical Sundae: sticky rice was very good, mango slices were refreshing and had a nice tang to the soft sweetness, coconut whip cream was tasty, coconut ice cream had a frozen slushee texture and tasted "ok"--was expecting it to be creamier. read more

This review is for takeout. I ordered the Top of the World Beef ($11), Special Hot Pork ($14), Green Curry Chicken ($12). Portion sizes were good for the price. The food quality was great and the taste of everything was amazing. The Beef is so soft, tender, and juicy. It comes with a sauce that adds a little acidity to the meat and it's soooo good. The Special Hot Pork is like a red curry with pork and potatoes. The Green Curry Chicken (coconut and creamy flavor) and the Hot Pork (heavier and meatier flavor) were both amazing in flavor and go great with some rice. I got level 2 spicy and it was perfect. Not too hot, but definitely gave me a little kick. I would highly recommend all 3 dishes and I will definitely be back to try their other items. read more

Inexpensive and good thai food. Quick service! They have a dedicated parking lot; so parking isn't a hassle here which is great! The menu has tons of options to choose from with lots of vegetarian options. I loved the yellow curry which was super flavorful. We also ordered the Princess Rice which I did not like at all. Princess rice is basically white rice topped with a sauce and some veggies added. The sauce tasted a bit raw and was insufficient in quantity as compared to the rice. Unfortunately the "Princess Rice" did not feel royal at all. Another thing to note is their spice levels are higher than usual, i ordered 2 out of 4 and that was quite spicy and I have a high threshold for spice tolerance. They had a really yummy chicken pad thai. The employees were very nice and they gave me a Thai iced tea on the house (I picked up the food while on duty and in uniform). The food was fresh and tasty. I'm from Austin so I was underwhelmed with this Thai since I am used to really good Thai in Austin. The prawns and cashews were good but can't compare to honey walnut shrimp. Some of the best Thai food in Seattle. Went here for dinner with my girlfriend - we ordered the crispy garlic chicken, pad Thai, pad see ew, and Tom yum soup. The soup was hot, sweet and spicy. Probably my most favorite Thai restaurant ever! Their Angel Wings are delicious, huge, and incredibly tasty. I had to order 2 orders to make sure I get to bring some home for dinner. We also ordered beef Phad See Ew, egg rolls and crispy garlic chicken. What makes this place special is the very friendly staff. The cooking is fast and in the middle of the the afternoon, the restaurant is quiet and more relaxed. I love this place no matter what! I brought my daughters here for lunch. We probably spent a couple hours sitting here talking while eating. They didn't mind. They just kept bringing us water to drink! Coming to Thai Siam gave me a ton of mixed feelings and the good moments and the bad moments kept conflicting with one another. I've decided to construct my review in a pros and cons format so that all of my experience dining here is illustrated. From University District the place is slightly on the farther side. You can take the 48 to Loyal Heights and it's about a 30 minute bus ride. There is a big sign that is quite bright so the place is hard to miss. Interior/Setting - The place is probably the prettiest Thai place I've seen. It has a lot of decorations and the color scheme all matches. It's not super dim lit but it is on the dimmer side. The seats are very comfortable and the place is clean. Every table has a light above it or near it and there are small tea lights on the candles as well. There are quite a few options on the menu and they have their spice levels listed for you as well. One thing I noticed is that tofu isn't an option as your "meat" in your dishes but they do offer tofu. We decided to order the fresh rolls, pad thai with chicken, pad see yew with tofu and a side of sticky rice. Fresh rolls; PROS: These are delicious! The ingredients inside the rolls are really fresh but the thing that makes it take a home run is the sauce. There is peanut sauce and plum sauce. The peanut sauce is kept warm and it's one of the best peanut sauces I've tasted. I like how they give you plenty as well. The plum sauce is also a great addition. It has a sweet and sour taste that pairs well with the crispness of the rolls. CONS: Unfortunately for only two rolls cut in half it is overpriced. Furthermore, the rice paper is quite gummy and chewy so biting into it is difficult. But because it is quite gummy it keeps the insides together better. Chicken pad thai; PROS: The portion size is huge! You are definitely getting your moneys worth. We got this as a 4 star which is the hottest. We were given warning about it twice (which was nice of them) and still went with it. CONS: Because the spice level is so high there is a huge trade off of flavor for spice. Suddenly the noodles taste like chili flakes and nothing like pad thai. Every bite literally tasted like those flakes of hotness. I was disappointed because I've had pad thai that has tasted delicious and was super spicy. The noodles were also slightly on the gummier side. Pad see yew tofu; PROS: The portion size again is quite big. I actually enjoyed this dish quite a lot. I was really afraid of the noodles tasting too much like soy sauce but these actually didn't have an overpowering amount of soy sauce flavor. The tofu pieces were plentiful and were not overly firm but not soft either. CONS: It was slightly greasy and you could see all the oil pile up. Also - this dish costs a dollar more than pad thai which is something I've never seen before. Usually all the noodle dishes are priced the same. Side of sticky rice; PROS: The rice is perfectly steamed and hot. It comes in a nice presentation that has your interest peaked. CONS: It's pricier than normal for a side of white rice and that's probably due to the method and presentation they use. Unfortunately, once you take the rice out it starts to get cold and hard. That makes the rice less enjoyable. However, I'm beginning to wonder if you should keep it in the woven basket in it's plastic bag. Service was spot on. They were friendly, attentive, patient and respectful. They always checked up on us and refilled our waters. Bathrooms here are very clean and candle lit. They are decorated nicely as well. The cost for everything was slightly under $30. The price seemed pretty fair, especially for the portion size. They have feedback slips on the table if you want to give them feedback. On the way out there is a lady holding jelly beans in her hand. A nice little sweet treat before you're on your way! Thai Siam definitely had some highlights and some lows but I would say overall it's just average. read more

I have been going to Thai Siam for some time, they've always had good service, friendly and fast. They have a lot of Thai/Asian decorations throughout the restaurant. I usually get green curry with chicken and pad Thai with shrimp. I usually get 3 stars but be aware there spicy level is on the hotter side (which I like). I really like the Tom Kah Gai, very flavorful, rich and perfect for a cold day. If you have room for dessert I highly recommend the mango sticky rice. The mango is nice and chilled with warm rice with coconut milk. read more

The star off was actually due to all the protein coming up a little too dry to be delicious. The beef and pork in the pad see ew and pad Thai were on the drier side. Excellent. The building itself is unassuming from the outside, but the inside is a delightful display of Thai inspired decor and architecture. The Thai iced tea is solid and the Pad Thai dishes (of which they have different varieties) is excellent. The Crab Rangoon is equally as delicious, though the beef coconut curry dish we ordered wasn't as strong. The menu has lots to choose from, and while we didn't have dessert, the selection looked great just on paper. All in all, solid Thai food with good service and ambiance.
