Excellent. The building itself is unassuming from the outside, but the inside is a delightful display of Thai inspired decor and architecture. The Thai iced tea is solid and the Pad Thai dishes (of which they have different varieties) is excellent. The Crab Rangoon is equally as delicious, though the beef coconut curry dish we ordered wasn't as strong. The menu has lots to choose from, and while we didn't have dessert, the selection looked great just on paper. All in all, solid Thai food with good service and ambiance. This review is for takeout. I'm a self-proclaimed "pad Thai" snob, as I've tried it from a ton of local places around downtown, Ballard, and Greenwood, and this is BY FAR the best I've had. Sauce is incredibly authentic, and not at all sweet like a lot of other spots (I've tasted some that are almost like sweet and sour sauce... very weird). A ton of veggies, noodles, and meat/tofu. Portion: You get a ton of food. This is almost always two meals for me. Spices: I stick to 1-2 stars; the two star has a pretty good kick to it. Pricing: ~$11 per dish, so it's very comparable to other areas. Plus, I think the portions are way bigger than most places. Parking: There is a parking lot, but I will warn it's a bit cramped and people park at strange angles. I prefer street parking personally. Calling in: I usually don't have any issues getting ahold & placing an order, but there have been a handful of times the line is completely busy. Considering how good this spot is, though, I understand how busy they get! Out of the 5 dishes we tried for dinner, two were good. The phad thai was well made and well garnished. The Phad Prig King with prawns was the best flavored dish of the night. The other dishes we tried were uninteresting, such as the lemon grass chicken (lots of iceberg lettuce and very dull). They had several desserts listed, but as we tried to order them we were told over and over they didn't have that one tonight. This seems to be a staple in the Seattle restaurant rotation when we visit. Parking can be a bit tight as they have a small parking lot and there is currently a lot of construction going on next door. The restaurant isn't very large, but it is very cozy in a good way. We came for a late lunch and it wasn't too busy on a week day. We started with some refreshing spring rolls and ordered a pot of rose tea to split. I always seem to order the same thing for my entree when I visit which is the Reunion Fried rice which has pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp along with onions, peas, and carrots. It is a HUGE portion so unless you are very hungry, you'll be taking some home with you for later. I enjoyed all of the flavors. I also like how you can order it however spicy you want it to be. Overall, service was very quick, the food was solid, and this was the third or fourth time I have visited this restaurant when I have been Seattle. We will definitely keep coming back in the future. This was a great spot for a long time. But it was not last evening. Phad Thai noodles and chicken were really over cooked, noodle were mush. Grilled pork was really dry and not served at all as it was pictured or used to be. But at least the green papaya salad was good. All for $51 before tip, yikes. The best Thai food I've had!! I'm so happy that I've finally found a place that is close to me and it's actually spicy as well! I put hot sauce on everything and I've ordered a 4 out of 5 stars on the spicy level at other places and it was not spicy at all. The guys at my table got their dishes at a 4, which is the highest you can go here. Their eyeballs were sweating!! Our server warned them though! I ordered specialty noodles with beef, bell peppers and red curry with a spice level of 3. It had great flavor and the beef was cooked nicely (not dry)! I was able to finish all of my dish, but I might go with 2.5 spicy next time. At the end, we all went up to the front and we were able to pay separately without any issue. She even remembered what each person had. They had a full menu of options, and everything looked so good that it was difficult to decide on one thing. Ok I haven't been here since pre-covid and was so excited to return. It was pretty good buuuut...most dishes we got now have bell peppers and celery in them. These are on my Least Wanted list for foods. You can't pick them out, they ruin everything and the taste really seeps into all neighboring noodles. This is a long-overdue review of this venerable restaurant in a part of town largely devoid of venerable restaurants. This place is absolutely beloved by the neighborhood and has intense customer loyalty. I get take-out from here once every blue moon or so...it's not my favorite Thai food in Seattle (the food is approximately 4 out of 5 stars), but this is certainly a 5-star establishment because they make good food at good prices, and they get a bonus star for giving back to the community with both hands. You won't find many restaurants that are as absolutely committed to fighting hunger and supporting the underprivileged as Thai Siam. They are saintly in their generosity and humility. The restaurant itself is cozy and decorated in a tastefully haphazard kind of way...every direction you look, you discover some new photo or carving or trinket. As I said, the food is good--they consistently produce tasty dishes from their wide-ranging menu, and happily accommodate vegetarians. They certainly believe that when you order your food spicy, you want it SPICY. I've only been brave enough to go 3 stars here. I don't have a macho bone in my body, but I like food to have a bit of kick...well, 3 stars at Thai Siam is like 4 or 5 stars elsewhere. If you order 4 stars here, it's probably because: (a) you are from Thailand or some other spicy food culture, and you know what you're doing; (b) you have some pre-existing condition that has badly dulled the nerve endings in your head; (c) you are an adrenaline junkie; or (d) you want to go to the hospital. In any case, you're made of sterner stuff than I. Anyway, God bless these folks for being community pillars and for making tasty food along the way. read more

I remember a conversation the group over at Laadla had in regards to spicy food was that flavor was important and shouldn't be covered up in red pepper flakes. Well, the garlic pork I had was definitely covered in it. It actually wasn't bad, but it just didn't look right. I couldn't taste much of the garlic either. I think my four star was ratcheted up a couple more stars because it looked like the dishes that the six star people had. Even Michael O. made the same observation when it arrived. Mitzie H's three star green bean and prawns was very good too, but I really couldn't gauge its spiciness since my mouth was on fire. Thank god for that delicious Thai iced coffee! My first experience with their food was takeaway. I have returned and had excellent experiences every single time after. There's ample parking to suit the restaurant's capacity. On a full night though, it can get pretty snug inside but the patrons move quickly so you won't wait long for a table. When Keoni told me he was going to have UYE at Thai Siam, I was really excited, because this is one of my favorite places. Thanks Keoni for setting it up and communicating with the restaurant for the great dishes. I didn't count how many people who were there that night. I was very distracted by the food. We had 4 appetizers, one soup, and 4 entrees. It was fantastic. My favorite dishes of the night had to be the beef salad and the cashew chicken. The beef in the sald was grilled properly, tender and flavorful. Cashew chicken, the mixed stir fired veggies with chicken and the yummy sauce really goes well with the rice. The restaurant is decorated with some Thai traditional items. The dining area is good for groups. They do have a private parking lot, but it's not big. If you want to get a parking spot, come early! Went here for dinner after reading the great yelp reviews and since it was a 'new to me' Thai restaurant, I had to try the Pad See Ew. With Thai restaurants on every corner in Seattle, you have to have that one baseline item when trying a new place. Most people go with Pad Thai, but not me, I use Pad See Ew. If a restaurant's Pad See Ew is not up to par, I won't be back again - plain and simple. Thai Siam, sad to say, had a mediocre Pad See Ew. While the other dishes were pretty good, specifically the curry - I probably won't be back to Thai Siam. With so many Thai options in Seattle, it just doesn't make sense to waste another Thai meal at a restaurant with sub-par Pad See Ew. Moving on! read more

Only lived in Seattle for a year, but holy moly I ate a lot of Thai Siam. This place is magic.

I believe wholeheartedly Thai Siam in Ballard has the best thai food in the Puget Sound. My wife and I had dinner at Thai Siam on Thursday, April 14th and enjoyed every moment of it. We ordered the Crab Ragu as a starter and it is amazing. Made with real crab not imitation that we experienced elsewhere. Next we ordered Chicken Phad Thai, 3 stars and Top of the World Beef, 2 stars, and added Tom Kah Gai soup and settled in for an adventure with an amazing variety of flavors. Delicious!!! The entrees were generous in portions and the soup was piping hot. For dessert we ordered their Fresh Mango with sweet sticky rice. Oh my, you must order this when mango season is upon us, and you have room for a supreme treat. It's so good. The mangos were cut in small bite sizes which we mixed in with the sweet sticky rice. The food, service and environment were fantastic. Please allow me a moment to write about the owner and staff of Thai Siam before I go any further... The owner of Thai Siam, Nancy, stopped by and visited with us to see how our dinner was. I will just say, she has tremendous pride in telling her story through food. I can't say enough about Nancy as a person, a community leader and a giver to those who are in need. Locals, did you know Nancy, and her team prepared, cooked, and served over 500 full turkey dinners, with every trimming and dessert packaged individually on Christmas Day 2021 to those who may be down financially? There were no sponsors for this. No huge media coverage. Just a small business owner and a small team investing their time and money to enrich and serve their community. They do it year, after year. Thai Siam delivered a 5 star evening dinner for us and we will return again next month. It is a destination location for us and we are happy to travel more than 30 miles each way to visit this gem of a restaurant along with their top notched staff and restaurant owner. Folks, I highly recommend dining at this local restaurant establishment that has been a member of the Ballard community for 35+ years. Small business is the heart and soul of a community and Thai Siam exemplifies all that is good in business and community. read more

This is pretty good Thai food and the best in North Seattle and Ballard area that I've found. They have all the normal expected Thai entrees and the service is very prompt and attentive. The interior is a combination of booths and some table seating. I've always sat in a booth and the walls are covered with memorabilia of Thailand and the place is warm and inviting. As you'll read in the other reviews, just be aware that 3 stars is pretty spicy for me. So, I'd ask for 1 less star of spicy that you're use to eating at Thai Siam. They do a big carry out business and you can easily do carry out here too. read more

This is my 2nd visit, and we really enjoyed the food. The prices are reasonable, and the variety of the menu is somewhat different than your typical Thai restaurant. I am giving this a four star review instead of a five star review because while I absolutely LOVE Thai Siam, many of their dishes are mislabled and I'd really like for them to change this. I've written to them on their feedback form about this issue but it has not changed, and I'm hoping the owner reads this and responds. If not, at the very least maybe I've helped some vegans and vegetarians who might stumble upon this review. MANY of their vegetarian options contain fish sauce. Fish is not vegetarian. As a long-time vegetarian-turned vegan (for ethical reasons), I was very disappointend to learn that they do not lable fish sauce in their dishes on the menu. In fact, there's a whole "vegetarian" section that is not very vegetarian. Most of the noodle dishes contain fish sauce, as does their peanut sauce. Having said this, they are very accommodating when you tell them "no fish/oyster sauce," but it's disappointing that they haven't updated the menu, as most people would assume "vegetarian" means vegetarian, not pescatarian. Thai Siam, I love you, but please be more transparant about your ingredients! read more

Thai Siam is a decent Thai joint for the North Seattle Area. The restaurant is clean and and spacious. We ordered the Tom Kah Gai, Basil Lover, and Phad Thai Noodle. All of the dishes came out within 5 minutes after we ordered. Everything seem freshly made and plenty of "WOK HEY". My favorite dish is their Phad Thai... huge portion and fresh ingredients. It's truly the perfect dish... spicy.. sour... crunchy...salty. However, I didn't enjoy the basil lover, The price of the dish is close to $10 but it's probably one of the easiest dishes that anyone could make (stir fried egg plant, red bell pepper, onion, tofu, and basil). You will not appreciate this dish if you are a cook. Overall a-ok experience for me. The service is great and I would come back. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place, but even though my family has been going here my whole life I have several go-to Thai places in different Seattle neighborhoods, and I will still say hands-down that Thai Siam is definitely the best Thai food in town. They're one of the only places that makes my food spicy enough (and the only one that consistently does so) but if you're sensitive to spice, be aware that they use a 1-4 star spiciness scale and what would be a 5-star most places is only about a 2.5-star here. My longtime favorites are the chicken massaman curry and the cashew chicken delight. Atmosphere is incredibly homey, and the owner is great. I remember every year when I was growing up she used to host a summer charity banquet (and might still, but I'm not sure). I hope to have the pleasure of dining here for many more years. read more

The curry in the noodles and the Penang were exactly the same. Tofu was fresh and tasted good. We also got the fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce/dip was really good too. On the 1st of January, two hungry souls were wandering around the town of Ballard after finding one closed resto after the other. An inconspicuous but effervescently decorated Thai resto in the corner of 15th showed up on our search, and to our surprise - at 10min before its opening there was already a group of people waiting outside this small establishment. I think this is probably one of the top two Thai restos I've been to in Seattle. The flaming seafood tom yum soup was creamy and visually stunning. The angel wings were chicken wings that were stuffed with minced veggies and meats with a fried crust that was just so. Satisfying. The panang curry was absolutely on point but the pad see ew could've used a bit more sugar. The dessert was a sweet black sticky rice with lychee and vanilla ice cream. Omfg. If I wasn't so full from the delicious entrees my boyfriend might not have gotten a single bite of the dessert. Did I mention the Thai iced tea tasted like crack? read more
