I really, really hate to give anyone a 3-star review during these tough times, but this yelp rating is spot-on. Thai Specialty is located in a busy shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I had been craving Thai food for months (have missed it during covid) & was SO happy to spot it while running errands in Brea. I popped in and it seemed promising- two people were picking up orders and I saw a bunch of orders waiting to be picked up. The decor was nice and service was fast and friendly. I placed my order and went to pick up a few things at Trader Joe's nearby. About 15 minutes later we picked up our chicken pad see eiu and drove home. When I sat down and opened the box the first thing I noticed was American broccoli. That's NEVER a good sign- good pad see eiu ALWAYS, always has Chinese broccoli in it. After the first bite I was so disappointed... If you've never had a really good version of this dish elsewhere I don't think you'd find it bad at all. But I'm used to the noodles not being dry and mushy, there bring way more chicken, and the sauce being full of flavor. This one was bland and lacking in quality of ingredients. Really, really wanted to love this place as it's super convenient for me. But with so many other options out there I don't think I'll be back. read more

I ordered pad Thai and eggplant lover via DoorDash and it was bad!!! I don't think they gave me the full portion for eggplant lover. There were literally only 5 eggplant. Also the food was too oily. I had stomachache and needed to use bathroom right after I ate. read more

We have been coming here often over the past year. We both like the Prik khing, me with shrimp, my wife with chicken. She also likes the curry. The place often does not have a lot of dine-in customers, but seems to do a very good take-out business. My one complaint is the service. A few days ago, an evening during the week, we walked in and were the only dine-in customers. Even so, we waited several minutes for a server to approach our table. This is not the first time this has happened. We are rather baffled. Being the only customers in the restaurant, we would expect very good service. The servers are nice, but they just don't attend to us very well. For this reason I am taking off one star. I considered taking off two, but we do like the food and the fact that it's not very busy most of the time, not counting the take-out customers. read more

My husband is Thai so I've eaten a lot of Thai food all over southern California since we met in 2003. This place is a-okay when we need a Thai food fix and don't want to travel out of the city. I will say they are the best Thai restaurant in Brea. I just wish I didn't have to ask them to replace the American broccoli with Chinese broccoli for certain dishes that calls for it. 3.5 stars so rounding up to 4 since they do a great job with takeout orders. read more

Wanting spicy beef fried rice so badly after a hard day, so we went here because it's near by and actually we ate here before too, but I skip to review the food. I like the interior in here, it gives me a very calm feeling, though I'm starving! For the food, beef fried rice (very spicy) it came out not spicy at all! I'm really weird. Hahahaha. The taste is really good, different with other Thai restaurant, in here the herbs are stronger. One thing I note is only the spicy level, I think it's not that spicy for me! But hey it's good! I dropped by on a Friday night and had never been there before. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of the menu items and how good the food was. I ordered a pumpkin curry with tofu, which was seasonal, and it was pretty interesting. The curry was nutty, with pumpkin flavor. Very enjoyable and filling. I also ordered a vegetable rice noodle dish, which was basic, but filling and the vegetables had the right texture of being cooked while staying crispy. Service was great here. I find the Thai offerings in North County aren't authentic to my tastes but this place was a good balance and would come back here again. read more
