4.5/5 Overall, a solid Thai spot with some standout dishes and a few small misses. The pad see ew was excellent. It was full of deep umami flavor and well flavored. I personally would've loved it just a bit more moist/oily, but the seasoning and overall taste were spot on. The papaya salad was also very good and refreshing. I appreciated that it wasn't overly salty, which let the fresh flavors shine. The pineapple fried rice fell a bit short, mainly because it initially arrived without any pineapple. After I mentioned it, pineapple was added on the side, but cooking it together would've allowed the sweetness to blend into the dish better and mask the overly strong curry flavor. Initially, it was too tingly and overpowering. That said, the food quality is there, and with a bit more attention to execution, this place could be excellent. I'd definitely come back, especially for the pad see ew and papaya salad. I want to try the drunken noodles next time! Our waitress was very nice.

A hidden gem in the strip mall at the corner of Redbud Lane and Gattis School Road. My wife and I had lunch there today. I always order the Penang curry which is my favorite. My wife had the Thai fried rice. We're never disappointed at Thai Spoon. And there's a new ice cream shop right next-door!

One of my favorite Thai spots in town for many years now. Been coming here for nearly a decade now and it is always consistent. My top dish is easily the drunken noodles. Noodles and beef are cooked to perfection. They give you plenty so always a highlight to have enough for a second lunch another day. I wanted to try the wings out. Mind you this was a to-go order, so weren't fresh out of the kitchen, but they were slightly disappointing. Not much flavor and on the skimpier side. We also ordered the kid's sweet and sour fried chicken. We assumed the sauce would be on the chicken but it's just on the side for you to dip. side note: not mango season so no mango sticky rice.

I'm always on the lookout for excellent Thai restaurants and I'm adding Thai Spoon to the list. Although located in a somewhat nondescript shopping center, the food is anything but bland. This family-run restaurant churns out some amazing entrees and it seems to be very busy most of the time. One of my old essential standbys that I find sets the tone for any Thai restaurant is green curry. Thai Spoon's version is excellent, filled with bamboo and proteins that are cooked to perfection. The sauce was pleasingly creamy and held together well. Some curries end up with a broken sauce but Thai Spoon was made exactly right with a good snort of pepper spices as well. The Pad Woon Sen hit the right notes too with a good balance between the brightness of lime juice and savory soy and fish elements. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and will be back. Highly recommended.

Thai Spoon has been one of my favorite Pad Thai spots for a few years now. I have actually not tried anything other than their Pad Thai and mango with sticky rice. The mango with sticky rice is delicious every single time and up until the last few visits their Pad Thai has been off the chain. Unfortunately, the spice level has not been delivering the proper heat. I always order the Thai hot spice level and I even top it off with a little Sriracha. When I received my first wimpy spiced noodles, I thought maybe it was just an ordering mistake but it's happened about three times now. I'm not sure what's changed, but because of this it just is not my favorite spot anymore.

A tradition stripe mall restaurant- open concept - kinda dark. The staff was ready to serve and friendly - quick order turn around - almost like it was all prepared ahead. Nothing exciting to say other than it was traditional food and good service.

So the service was great. Both the young man and young lady working were very friendly and helpful. My soup was very mediocre. It tasted like they added water to the broth to stretch it. I can't say that I will be back. I hate wasting money on bland food.

Was busy for a Tuesday which was great, drunken noodles had good spice and favorable portions and same with the green curry. Took plenty home so it's shareable. Modern place and not dated at all which is better than most Thai spots. Service was slow as my water was never topped off. It's is family owned and worth it for to go at least:

My go-to Thai spot! The service is good, but the food is top tier! This is my family's favorite spot!

Anyone know about Gluten Free options here? I know it's in a lot of sauces so wasn't sure. Thanks!

The menu is pretty extensive too, so it was easy for everyone to find something they were excited about. I had the Tum Tad salad, which was super fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of tangy and savory. For dessert, the mango sticky rice was a standout. It was made with a black rice that actually looked kind of blue, which made it really visually fun. Not totally sure if there was some ube mixed in or just the natural color, but either way it was delicious and a little different from the usual version.

The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.
