Delicious food with even better service! Everything tasted really good and didn't feel like they used a whole bunch of oil to cook. The owner was extremely friendly and checked in on every table. Really nice to see how engaged he was with his customers. Price is reasonable and portion are pretty big! We were walking around the Monrovia Street Fair and Market and decided to wander in since we haven't been before. It's a cute spot that always looks busy. We were able to be seated immediately, the last available table. Thai Iced Tea - this tasted watered down as the tea wasn't strong enough. I guess it's a good thing, so I could sleep that night :( Chicken Pad See Ew - this tasted interesting, more oyster sauce than I'm used to. It didn't taste as expected but everything was fresh. Tom Yum Noodles - choice of noodles and we got flat noodles. The soup tasted really watered down. Normally the soup packs a punch! Chicken Satay - this was the best thing we ate. The grilled chicken was good, but the portions were a bit small. The peanut sauce is excellent! Love the cucumber salad too! Mango Pudding - Pretty good, but a tiny portion for the price. Not all that familiar with Thai food, but I loved the flavors of the three dishes my friends and I tried: Pad Thai, Khao Soi, and Red Curry. My favorite was the Khao Soi, but red curry was a close second. I definitely will go back next time I'm in Monrovia. read more

Came here with some friends cuz we were craving Thai and ordered a rice and noodle dish. Portions were large which was nice. Sadly, by looking at the pad thai, I knew it wasn't going to be how I usually expect and like a pad thai. There little coloring to the noodles and the noodles looked super dry and they in fact were. Also, the meat in both the rice and noodles were dry. pad thai noodles lacked flavor. The rice dish was overpowered by garlic--tasted mainly like a garlic fried rice, not like Asian notes that I'd get at other thai places. We won't be back. read more

I went to Thai Thyme for the first the time with my friend, we had good service throughout the dinner and the food was delicious, but it wasn't until the end of dinner when I was telling the waiter (who is an older, Asian man with glasses on ) of how many take out boxes we needed, I took a while making the decision, and when I did have an answer, the waiter mocked me and made fun me for how I answered the question! He made of fun me and that pissed me off, I didn't say anything but I do regret not clapping back. I advise that you train that waiter with better customer service and respect to their customers. It ruined our dinner experience and I will NOT be coming back and I will tell other folks to NOT come to Thai Thyme because of that experience. read more

It smelt strongly of cleaner when we first got there but the smell of food overtook that. The plum wine was very sweet & the pad see ew was delicious!!! You have to ask for the chili oil and they bring out a container with other condiments as well. Definitely go try this place!! read more

Great Thai food, family style size portions, enough to share with your date or family. The ambience is a little posh posh; love the flowers and decor but the butcher paper signs are a little out of place. There service was too notch and accommodated all our needs. Came here for my friends birthday during lunch. I got the drunken noodles with shrimp from the lunch special. The lunch special comes with a soup and an egg roll. The spice level I got was a 4/5 and I did not think it was that spicy. I also got a thai tea and that was fantastic as well! The overall ambiance of the place was nice. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. We were offered some free desserts to try towards the end and they were all amazing! A cute little shop in the heart of downtown Monrovia! Because it's located on a busy street it may be a little hard to find parking especially during the evenings of most day. They have street parking and various parking lots near by all free! This is one of my favorite places to get take out on a night I don't t feel like cooking. The food is always delicious and consistent despite it always being take out. I really recommend their khao soi! I think the owners also really appreciates trying out new dishes other than the usual pad Thai as when I placed an order once he was extremely enthusiastic about every dish we ordered besides the pad Thai. The owner is the sweetest man, very talkative he makes you feel like you're old friends. Onto the food, we absolutely love this place. I've brought countless family members and they all agree. Tom yum soup is by far my favorite from any other Thai restaurant I love the mushrooms, cabbage and most of all they use thinly sliced white meat not thigh! Service was good, except I believe they lost our ticket for one item, but quickly the owner chatted with us and resolved it, and was asking how it was. The food was delicious! I got the traditional fried rice with tofu, and the tofu was a perfect flavor. My friend also got the thai tea and said it was good as well. We ordered take out so when we tasted the food, naturally, it's not going to be the best since it's not straight out of the kitchen but unfortunately, even given that grace, this place did not meet my expectations. Taste was lacking for the green curry, Pad se eew, and Pad Katem (garlic). Pad se ew was bone dry and chicken was over cooked. Basil eggplant was good, but the pork was too dry and tough, imo. The Panang was the highlight of the entire order. Great flavor and the perfect balance of spice and sweetness! 10 out of 10 on that dish, but that was it. They were all excellent. The curry was a bit watery, but still good. The calamari though was out of this world. The pieces were light on the batter and thick on the fish. Perfection. The best Dèjá vú experience ever! It's been years since I've been in Old Town Monrovia. My wife and I decided to have a "date night" there, as one of our adult kids, who was visiting us in town, needed a ride to attend a gathering nearby. Years ago I used to attend meetings at this restaurant. The food at Thai Thyme is awesome! So good, that It has a local following. The 3 tables against the wall, across from us, were populated with families that had adults I swear I used to know! The owner stopped by to say hello. We both agreed that we had known each other, but it took me a couple days, before I could connect the dots! I can't wait to go back. The food was delicious. The owner explained how he has a special process to prepare his foods so their recipes use less oil. His process helps bring out the natural flavor of the vegetables! We had gotten the fried tofu appetizer, two plates of the Pad Thai, with vegan chicken and tofu, and a Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Everything was delicious!! The indoor atmosphere was also great; good amount of seating, very clean, and elegant. The wait staff were all very friendly and patient as we took our time ordering and answered our questions. The service was great here! I always order the Pad Thai Beef at every Thai restaurant I visit and when I tried the Pad Thai here, it far exceeded my expectations! The noodle was soft and flavorful and did not have a rubbery. The Num Tok (beef salad) and Tom Yum Gung were also great additions! The Tom Yum Gung soup was very flavorful with the perfect amount of lemon grass soup. Adding it to the jasmine rice hit the spot! The Num Tok Beef salad also tasted great! We had the most wonderful surprise when we stumbled upon this little Thai gem tonight! It was one of those spontaneous decisions that paid off in the best way possible. However, the true star of the evening, the one thing I absolutely cannot stop thinking about, was their coconut cake. Oh. My. Goodness. I am completely and utterly obsessed! It was light, moist, perfectly sweet, and had the most divine coconut flavor. I've had many cakes in my life, but this might just be the best cake I have ever tasted. We ordered Crab Fried Rice, but we did not get it, they charged us, but they removed it after telling them that we did not get it. Service is slow. Soup came last, I don't think soup should come last. Ambiance is ok. Restroom is clean. Inside is very warm. I'm not sure if there's AC. Taste of food is okay. It's bland for me. This place has what I think to be authentic and delicious Thai food. They have a lot of variety to choose from beyond the usual noodle dishes and more authentic recipes. They can make most things vegetarian or vegan with soft tofu or fried tofu as options. If you don't ask for soft tofu you will automatically get fried tofu. Their vegetable soup is super tasty great for getting over a cold. When they said it was food penicillin they weren't kidding! I would recommend their noodle dishes, the soups, the curries and their stir fried dishes. They also can make your food gluten free. For example the pad see ew they can use tamari instead of soy sauce. It's not on the menu, you need to ask for it and specify you are gluten free. They have a nice staff, nice interior and a nice outdoor dining area. Their is parking lot in the back and plenty of free street parking. This restaurant is also located on the cute and friendly downtown Monrovia street so it's a good stop in for a bite and shopping fun. read more

What an absolute delightful evening and experience, and food here at Thai Thyme. My friend Kristina Wagner lives over on this side of the woods so I came to visit her and her new tiny, baby kitten. We got hungry and decided to walk out of her house and down the street for dinner. We wandered until we found Thai Thyme in downtown Monrovia. I ordered a tofu pad see ew and Kristina had a lah nah, I think it's called. Both utterly delicious. I'm hungry just writing this review. The owner Thai, checked in on us and our experience and told of us how he started in his family's first restaurant chopping vegetables at 8yrs old. Wonderfully dressed and impeccable manners this man. It's so rare, I've ever had the experience of an owner stopping in to check on our satisfaction. What a delight! Made our day. Although the atmosphere and the servers are amazing, the owner is really strange and how he speaks to his customers. He was passive aggressive when I had a request for more chili to be brought to our table. Additionally, he spoke to me in a condescending way, and that brought down the energy or the ability to eat my food in peace as he kept coming back to our table to ask questions or start a conversation. There is no reason to be speaking to customers that way, especially when it is difficult to communicate at times, but my request was pretty clear with this. I would recommend takeout but not dining in because of the owner, he made my experience uncomfortable with his condescending tone. read more
