Everyone at the table was vegan ordered the dishes vegan. First order came out with eggs. Not the biggest deal. Then we see our ticket as we are leaving and it says "bitches" on it. Not acceptable. Lastly as we were splitting the bill two of my friends paid and started walking away as I'm standing their waiting to pay and the lady yells she is going to call the cops. Even though I was still standing there. Not sure what that was about. Servers were friendly, food was okay. A friend who had lived in Thailand was visiting and since Nivaldo had never had Thai food, she really wanted to try some in the area. Although there were a couple in the neighborhood, this one came greatly recommended. We went in with our appetites and an open mind and basically sampled half the menu. My friend, who is originally from Indonesia and lived in Thailand for a few years was impressed with the taste. The waitress was super patient and helpful (considering that we were trying to communicate in three different languages amongst each other and her). One gripe, however, was how stingy they were with the meat in the curries. A little more meat and less veggies as filler will have given them a 5 star rating. read more

I've never left a Yelp review before, but what I just experienced was so absurd, I'm HYPED. So not only did this place mess up my order and charge me more than the meal I ordered originally, when I discovered they messed up my order and drove all the way back, they refused to refund me back for the meal that cost more. Then, to add insult to injury, the person working there informs me that I have to pay AGAIN for the order THEY messed up. So I got doubly screwed. She tells me a lot of people have complained about this policy, so evidentially they're in the business of messing up orders to charge people more. A 'hipster' type joint offering small portions of relatively bland Thai food with prices that should be lower. I had the Massaman Curry and my wife had the Mango Curry. Both were unremarkable - the sauces were no more original or interesting than what you could buy at Trader Joes. The tables are a nice unfinished wood look and you'll either sit on a bench against a wall or in a bright funky orange metal chair - not your typical Thai restaurant decor. But again, that's probably designed to bring in the artsy hipster types. I'll bet they all leave hungry. There are better choices for Thai restaurants. read more

Super delicious and authentic-- we've traveled across Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, so we're not strangers to good Thai food. Our server, Meghan was excellent. She answered all of our questions and offered suggestions. The secret spicy menu isn't vegetarian friendly, just fyi. The red curry with shrimp was tasty - spicy, but not overly so and plenty of shrimp. My friend's pad Thai didn't see as enjoyable, sadly. Portions are on the small side. I like the visuals of the space a lot. It's worth a star. Meal started out pretty well. The sausages were very good (a real winner), the spring rolls barely adequate (pure-cabbage and had some Indian/Madras curry mix in them that definitely wasn't Thai or good). In fact, about half the menu isn't Thai at all (e.g. scallion pancakes). The two soups good though a little skimpy. The main courses were kind of a disaster, particularly the lemon grass beef which was a boiled mess. Why anybody thinks slivers of grey boiled beef in a watery sauce vaguely flavored with lemon grass is a good idea escapes me. Wok fry the beef at high temp so it browns, add the rest of your ingredients and not too much liquid, so that it intensifies the flavors and the sauce is unctuous. It's astounding how many bad Thai places there are when you consider that it is pretty basic food to cook once you have rounded up the ingredients (surprisingly easy to do these days). Look around on the internet. There are several very good sites that provide solid recipes. Follow them. Make good food not crap. Why is this all so difficult? I mean it will cost you a little more. But more people will come. And most importantly, you will have your honor. As for what all those other people were eating who have rated this place five stars, well, I don't know. But it reminds me of why yelp is a pretty bad place to get a review unless you read carefully and decide someone actually knows what they are talking about. One review I read actually said that Providence is a better food town than NYC. I have yet to have a meal in this town that was more than adequate. Being a homer is fine, but seriously, be proud of what you have and are. Many great things about PVD. I really like this town. But food isn't one of them. So don't be delusional. Anyway, life--and the quest for good food in a world that has too little--goes on. read more

I had the scallion pancakes and they were so crispy and light and the sauce they serve with it is so delicious. The Pan Pork app was so tender and had amazing flavor. The owner recommended a secret menu item "dry spicy chicken noodle" it was so delicious and I want more, right now!!! I had the lime Ricky to drink. So great. We typically get Thai food just as takeout but after seeing the great reviews of Thailand Modern Eatery we stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner. We shared the Gar Pow and Pik Pow and both were amazing. You can adjust the level of spicy heat on any dish and swap out meat options which was great as the Gar Pow would have been way too spicy for us as is. Our server was excellent and extremely helpful reminding us we had options if needed and offering her suggestions. BYOB was convenient and easy as well. Went to Thailand Modern Eatery last night with my best foodie accomplice. We started with the Fresh Rolls (with shrimp). It was absolutely delicious. You could tell these were good, quality fresh ingredients. They didn't have the same thin sauce with peanuts you usually see with this dish. They came with a thick creamy almost reduced soy sauce peanut sauce .. not exactly sure but it was savory and very good. We also ordered scallion pancakes which were bomb! came with this great curry sauce which was both sweet and spicy .. possibly my favorite sauce of the night. For main dishes we split the drunken noodle and pineapple fried rice both with tofu. The dishes were both great to be honest. I've had a good amount of thai food in RI and this one definitely became a part of my top 2 very quickly. HEADS UP! they have a secret menu that you need to ask about in order to order from it. It includes what sounds like some really flavorful and authentic dishes. This food from what I understand about thai food is authentic to the taste. There are a nice selection of vegetarian options and great thai tea! Not to mention the waitress was really friendly ... but the place was dead! so definitely go check it out and give this new place a chance to get up on their feet. Worth going to the hill for and looking for parking for 15 mins haha I'm looking forward to going back and ordering some different thing. Went here on my birthday seeing the rating on Yelp as we all love Thai food. The person serving us was very rude. He was answering all our questions so bluntly. Food was ok not at all great. There are many great places in providence which serve good Thai food. Will never return there again. Also when we went Restaurant week was going on but the server never gave us restaurant week menu but in the end charged us 20pc restaurant week gratuity. Overall the worst birthday dinner I ever had. Finally came here for the first time after seeing friends raving about the food on social media. Now it's my turn to rave. I see some reviews mentioning bad service but we had the opposite experience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, all the food came out quickly, and all three of us loved our meals! I will definitely be coming back. We had the pork stick appetizer which was tasty and a decent portion for the price, two different versions of the pad thai, and the mango curry. The food is good but it's not a great value . I just picked up take out . No napkins , no utensils , no chop sticks , no fortune cookie , nothing . I asked for some hot pepper sauce ( it is Thai food after all) they said that hot sauce was reserved for people eating in the dining room only and I couldn't have any . Got home opened the pad Thai and it contained 3 teenie tiny shrimp and 3 very small strips of chicken . Mostly all noodles . Everything from the above and beyond service from Emily to the food that was out of this world. I highly recommend the Curry Shoots and the Thai Sausage to start. I tried this place as a take out couple days ago..I ordered the pad thai and few appetizers. I've tried many pad thai from the thai restaurants in boston, NY, and even PVD..and this signature thai noodles rated as 3.5/5. I personally thought little salty but also bland which means not flavorful..usually the asian foods contain a lot of spice ( garlic,ginger, cumin, etc) so it gives you a deep flavors...This is my personal thought. It was interesting to see the modern and simple interior as an asian restaurant. Will try one more time later...maybe other noodle dishes next time! read more

Food was very good in a relaxed, modern atmosphere reminiscent of a real street-side urban cafe in Bangkok. I had Thai sausage and a spicy beef salad - wonderful flavors! So happy the flavors aren't dumbed down. Though I've had quite a bit of Asian food in my life and Providence has lots of options - I don't think I've seen many of these dishes before. Really nice addition to the Asian food scene in Providence. The owner is trying to make sure people consider this as more than just a take-out spot. The decor is modern, so it's a nice casual date night. Small drawback: As of now they don't have a liquor license, but you're on Federal Hill so it's easy enough to grab a drink after. The drunken noodles, the red curry and spicy soup are all great. Great spice if you like things spicy, but they're prepared to tone down spice if needed. I will say that my boyfriend and I were happy with the night out when we ate in, but when we ordered for takeout, we came away feeling like we'd paid a lot for take out as it is a bit pricer than many Asian takeout options. read more

It was fairly traditional flavors, but the presentation was clean and modern and the ingredients seemed exceptionally fresh.
