I always try and stop for a beer and burger to support the local businesses in the Pine/Strawberry area. In the past I enjoyed a place in Strawberry, until THAT opened up. THAT brewery is now my go to local place for beer and food. Recently I stopped by and their Covid19 precautions are spectacular. I felt extremely comfortable visiting THAT Brewery with all the precautions they have adopted. And the food/beer was BY FAR superior to the place in Strawberry I visited that had ZERO Covid19 precautions. Pine is a tiny, quaint town and this was our first visit. We were able to find delicious takeout food for dinner at That Brewery! I ordered a cheeseburger which was juicy, fresh, and tasty! The French fries were medium cut and a perfect compliment to the burger. My boyfriend ordered the mild wings which were meaty and yummy! The food was packaged beautifully and easy to carry out. We appreciated this establishment most because of their COVID precautions. Everyone in the restaurant was wearing a mask and calling in our order was easy and quick. They even gave us sanitizing wipes! We 10/10 would come back! read more

What a great place! We saw That Brewing on the Az Craft Brewing Virtual Festival and as my husband and I enjoy finding new and unique breweries, we had to stop here when in the area. Do not stop here if you are passing through trying to get somewhere... the food is pretty good, same with the beer (Strawberry Ale - two thumbs up), but the service was not good - unbelievably slow. The hubby and I stopped here during our anniversary weekend after an afternoon of fishing for dinner and a couple drinks. The atmosphere, food, and vibe was great, I love it! I got myself an Arizona Trail Ale T-shirt and wear it every day as soon as I get home from work. The staff is very friendly and we were lucky to meet a local gentleman who was very courteous and company very enjoyable :) we've been to several craft breweries and apart from our favorite in Portland, OR, this is one of our favorites. We called in advance to check on the closing time --which is listed as 8 pm. Were told they closed at 7. So we got there at 6. When we arrived, we were told they'd run out of food and we couldn't come in. We won't be back. Instead we recommend the Old Country Inn down the road which has excellent beer and food. read more

Small friendly neighborhood brewery in Pine. My dad and I popped in after hiking Tonto Natural Bridge. Place was a little crowded due to a big party outside and the waitress seemed stressed. That Brewery has a great covered patio and a back porch. The patio is dog-friendly and it has a giant Connect Four and a volleyball court. The bar area is cozy. $7 for a six-beer flight is a great deal. I enjoyed the monsoon mudslide porter. The bartenders were personable and they gave good input on the menu items. I appreciated that there's a black bean burger, but it costs $1.50 more than a beef burger (?!) and the burgers are already $11-13. Instead we went with the veggie mac and cheese: sautéed veggies mixed into the spinach and artichoke dip and placed on top of the regular mac and cheese, which is made with their beer cheese. All that cheesy deliciousness is definitely best when shared. We also tried the pretzels, which are $4 on Sundays. The pretzels were nothing special, but That beer cheese... Relaxing atmosphere, great beer, and delicious food! We ordered the Smothered Chicken sandwich which is covered in artichoke dip and Parmesan cheese..DELICIOUS!! I loved the Fossil Creek IPA because it was a lighter weight IPA with a mild hop finish. We'll definitely be back!!! read more

Get this. I called to see what time TBP was closing. Been there before and loved the beer and had a darn good grilled cheese. They said, "we close at 9:00". My buddy and agreed to go. This little brewery was exactly what we needed. The table couldn't stop eating from the Ultimate tot basket. It's so addicting. The elk and buffalo chili was probably some of the best chili I've had in a very long time. The burgers looked amazing. Next time I'm definitely going to hit up that elk and buffalo burger for sure. Or maybe the smothered chicken sandwich, because a grilled chicken breast topped with spinach artichoke dip is basically what my dreams are made of. read more

Been there ...done THAT! . This brewery is okay. I love trying local breweries and was really disappointed when they were out of their own IPA. So, we ordered a Pale Ale and their Amber...yeesh, no taste. The pale ale had no nose and no flavor ...should of gotten a Hop Knot-Four Peaks. I tried the Amber and it was flat and no taste like an Amber should taste. So, the fact they serve other beers from AZ breweries tells you something. If you have a great brewery, then in my opinion you should only be serving your own brew. Food. Our hostess was the saving factor to That. She was really helpful told us the specials -soup of the day etc. We get ready to order and WHAT? Soup of the days is gone. It's 2pm and the SOTD is gone? We got a burger...to be safe and my son order Mac N Cheese from the kids menu. Burgers were good, kids mac n cheese we were billed 9 bucks, instead of 4 bucks. The whole experience was kind of disappointing. So......there won't be a next time.....but for you- get samples of their brews. I guess it's a blessing in disguise they serve Four Peaks so you have a back up. The food was good BUT check your bill. read more

I frequent this brewery because the beer is excellent and the people are awesome. My usual is the "Road Rash" IPA, but they have others to choose from that are quite good. My wife is not a beer drinker, however, she enjoys their "That Amber" which is the only beer she will drink from anywhere. The elk burger is very good too! They even have a tasty bean burger. I do wish they had a couple more vegetarian options. read more

Just awful! Second, and hopefully last, visit to THAT horrible place. The prices are ridiculous for the crappy food you get. We got the spinach and artichoke dip. It was about four ounces for $7.50. And what a treat - it arrived cold! The wedge fries were good until we noticed the black spots in them (rotted)!! And the carrot sticks and celery with ranch were laughable. Very few veggies, and the ranch was watered down. That is, after it got there (the waitress forgot it, said she would be back with it, and never returned). My husband had to get up and ask the bartender for it. You're better off going to the ponderosa market and getting some FRESH food - or at least food that isn't obviously rotten and yet still served to customers. Makes you wonder - Does the health inspector make it up to Pine? read more

We've been hearing about an up and coming local brewery in the piney woods so we made the trek to form our own opinion. LUNCH was so good we came back for DINNER a few hours later before heading back to the metropolis. Same Server for both meals and she was on top of her game. Elk & Buffalo burger with fresh mozzarella was a pleasant surprise. Nicely seasoned, cooked just right and good to the last bite. The Caprese plate with more of that mozzarella was tasty without being fussy. Holy MAC! Do NOT leave without trying a bowl of the Elk Chili-Mac! a real tastebud delight with layers of flavor that kind of roll up on you as you continue to eat. Oh. Beer. Yup, that was good too. Roadrash IPA was worth a 2nd glass and the Strawberry Blonde was good enough to bring us back! read more

My parents have some property up here in strawberry and when we drive up to visit I get so excited to get some of their amazing brews and tasty burgers. I don't really write reviews, but this place is just THAT flippin' great (lol). My friends and I came here after hiking Tonto since it's only 10 minutes up the road from the trail. I got the 6 beer sampler and salmon sliders. Beers were awesome, especially the IPAs (Road Rash and Spiced). Sliders were yummy and filling, very well-cooked. One buddy had the elk/buffalo burger with fries - he said it was great, fries were tasty. Other buddy had elk nachos - I tried them too and we both said they were awesome. Good with the jalapenos. IMO the prices weren't ridiculous at all. Order a beer and a dish, you'll most likely spend around $15. That's usually how much you'll spend any time you eat out, unless it's Taco Bell or something. I'm mad that I forgot our servers name, she was really friendly and joked around with us. Curse my awful memory. Also, cute shirts! How can you not want a cute brewery shirt? I'm gonna go here again whenever I make it back out to Pine. I recommend it to anyone who actually bothers to read these reviews. You should totes do the Tonto trail too. Nothing's better than having a beer after seeing a waterfall. read more

Wow, who knew there was such a cool bar way out in the sticks?! They call themselves a brewery but the beer making operation is still in its infancy. That being said, they had an extremely impressive selection of craft brews on tap, most of them being Arizona made: Four Peaks, SanTan, Oak Creek, Lumberyard, etc. I also noticed some AZ Stronghold wines by the glass on the menu if you are more of a wine drinker. Actually, in addition to the restaurant space which includes seating both on a front deck and large covered patio in the back, they also have a full bar with a cozy lodge feel complete with both a fireplace and several big screen tvs. We sat outside to take advantage of the nice weather and I had plenty of time to check out all that space had to offer: a sandy volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and comfy looking chairs circled around a fire pit. I am sure that this is the happening place to be on a Saturday night no matter the season. So, now that I have proven to you what a phenomenal watering hole THAT Brewery is, let me take a moment to talk about the food. I ordered the black bean burger with hummus and it really blew me away. I am not a vegetarian by any means but I noticed the black bean hummus on the menu and after I couldn't convince my husband to split it as an appetizer, I decided to get the burger instead. I was so glad that I did! I have sampled a few black bean veggie burgers now and then and this is by far the tastiest with a very firm patty that did not fall apart and had some really great seasoning with a good kick but not too spicy. The hummus on top was the icing on the cake and a fresh roasted red pepper put it over the top. I would have to say that this is the best burger I have ever tasted, including those made of beef or other meats. My hubby ordered the traditionally burger and he thought that was pretty darn tasty, too. I got the shoestring fries and they tasted just like McDonald's (I mean that as a compliment, I am so addicted to the crispy salty goodness of their fries) and my husband got the steak fries which were cooked to perfection and had the most delicious seasoning on them. Both were amazing. I could have stayed there for hours but alas we did not discover this gem until we were on our way out of town but I plan to make this a mandatory stop on every trip up north from now on! read more

Oh dear. I wanted to like this place so badly. First, the beer (although warm) was GREAT. Now, onto the bad. There's no hostess stand and so upon entering we just searched for someone who looked like they worked there. Sat down, although is was 90* outside the waitress was confused that we wanted water as well. We also has to ask 3 times for utensils. We ordered burgers and fries. Easy right? no. the burger has no seasoning and may or may not have been frozen. the fries tasted like they came from a freezer brand at a grocery store. The service was slow, the waitress delivered out food to two other tables before figuring out where they went and the table in the bas was so small, people at the bar (3 deep) were constantly running into our table. Don't be fooled, although this place looks good-- do not go there. Unless it's just for beer. read more

I ordered bratwurst with kraut on a pretzel roll with a pair of That Ambers. Spicy mustard to slather on the brat and thick-cut home fries on the side. Heavenly, not much more to say. The day was spectacular on the terrace, sitting among the pines under the blue sky. Next time you are in the Strawberry/Pine/Payson area, give it a whirl. Good food, service, setting, pricing. I can see how your experience here could vary a lot depending on where you sit, who your server is, etc. Our experience was fantastic! We sat indoors at the bar right in front of the beer taps. Our server, Christy was extremely helpful, and super friendly. Once we sat down she began quick descriptions of the beers and started pouring numerous samples for us to try. After settling on the seasonal pumpkin and dopple sticke (both were very good), we got several of the happy hour (wed-fri, 3-6 PM) appetizers. They also had a good Friday night fish, all you-can-eat, special. We loved it and would definitely come back! read more

This place is a little sleeper in the woods, literally. Tucked just south of the little mountain town of Pine (not Pinetop, mind you) is this fantastic little microbrew. Have been here a couple times already; only had the fried green beans with wasabi (I know, sounds weird - but delicious!)........beers are fantastic, especially their own. They also have "guest taps" of some valley breweries too.........the flight of 6 is a great way to experiment. Food looks delicious when it's been walked by me to serve to another, so may have to try it out. Definitely looking forward to the springtime/summertime weather up there so we can have a brew under the pines......but for now, we'll take it indoors and enjoy the suds. read more

This was a fun place to find. We were just wandering around Arizona on a Sunday journey and we happened to pass through Strawberry and as soon as I saw the sign for Pine, I knew we had to stop here!! Terrible. Elk burger was awfully overcooked. Pretzel bun was not good. Patty was so overdone it was shrunken and didn't fit bun! Flavorless too. Dry and boring like a burnt cafeteria burger. Service friendly but way understaffed. After we finally got our food and ate, our plates remained uncleared for so long, bees and wasps began to come and take pieces away! What's more, there was a wait to get in, and we witnessed a group of four get seated before us, though we four arrived 10 min before! That's appalling. Stop here. My daughter and I went hiking at Tonto natural bridge and this place is right on the way to Sedona. The burger was great and the patio was so awesome. I want to live here.
