I came here for my birthday this weekend with a large group of people. This place is really cute. Everyone enjoyed their food. The bottomless mimosas with an entree deal is too good to beat. The reason why I gave three stars is because our server (who was sweet and tentative during the meal) double charged us. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt that it was an error but considering the way it happened, I'm finding it difficult. Two people left early and cashed out a portion of the bill. Somehow even with their receipt showing what they were supposed to have paid, they were charged the entire bill. Additionally, when the remaining group paid, they were each charged for their portion of the bill. We discovered this later in the day when the friends who got charged the whole bill found out. Everyone else checked their accounts and they were definitely charged their portion as well. I don't understand how the computer would let her clear the same tab twice. read more

This place is great. I wish the lighting was a little dimmer so it felt like a restaurant instead of a wine shop. Service was wonderful as was the atmosphere minus the table of 10 on their patio which is too many for such a small space. They have a sommelier who walks around the wine room , helps you pick a bottle for your dinner, which you purchase and pay a $5 corkage fee. The wine prices are what you would pay for at a regular store, not crazy marked up like at restaurants. The 3rd Corner is where my boyfriend and I go when we want to go out for a nice dinner and not spend a fortune. It's where we had our first date and where we go when we want to do something special. The restaurant is small, but that lends to the intimate atmosphere. The food is fantastic and the wine selection is awesome. It's always fun to go in and pick out the wine before being seated. Eh, me thinks not is right! This is has to be one the strangest places I've ever been to! We accidentally ended up here due to the 2 hour wait at Beau Bo's across the street. All we wanted was a small bite to eat and a couple cocktails before heading out to the bar, and what we ended up with was one of the weirdest experiences ever. First off, the minute we walked in, the hostess promptly asked us if we had reservations, we immediately replied 'oh no,Sorry. are they required?' and she smiled and said 'no'. Um, okay. they sat us on the half empty back patio and gave us a couple menus. After going over the menu several times, we didn't see the appetizers that peaked our interest on the menu before entering the building. After about 15 minutes our waiter finally came around who seemed like he was not only drunk, but stoned out of his mind (I know this is Ocean Beach, but come on) and we asked if he could show us on the menu the 'duck chili cheese fries' and 'braised beef sliders'. He informed us that those items were considered 'happy hour' appetizers and would not be served for another 45 minutes. Okay, we said-no problem! We can order something else! He then offered to check with the kitchen to see if they can make an exception. We said, okay, cool! 10 minutes had gone by, another gentleman came out and said 'oh you were looking to have the happy hour items? let me go check on that for you'...okay, great! Another 15 minutes goes by, and finally the manager comes out and says in his rude,creepiest of creepy ways ' oh hello. I understand you are looking to order the happy hour appetizers?' We looked at each other in confusion...wtf was going on here?! We again, repied yes. He then goes on to say, 'well luckily the chef has already prepped everything and is able to go ahead and prepare that for you, but just so you know, we may not be able to accomodate you next time you request prior to happy hour' WTF?! We were in no way demanding or begging for these people to serve these items to us, but yet they were treating us like we had. We sat there in confusion the rest of the time waiting for our drinks to be filled while our waiter wandered around looking lost. Our apps shortly came out after all the hoopla, and were mediocre. So not worth it. I'm surprised by all the positive reviews here. We will not be returning. read more

Great for what it is. I do love the late night dining options. The duck chili is my absolute favorite although the cornbread is always stale. It's a bit out dated and a tiny bit overpriced but there is something very calming about the laid back OB atmosphere. The couches are a nice place to meet new friends and share a drink. it's a stand by and i will continue to come by often. I am very curious about their brunch - who doesnt love brunch? read more

Delicious. Yesterday they had a 20 dollar deal for 3 courses. I order clam chowder, a chicken dish, and the cookie and icecream for dessert. Heard a lot of good things about this place so my husband and I decided to give 3rd corner a try. We arrived and we were seated immediately to our surprise. We were seated about five minutes before a couple sat right next to us. They got waited on before us. Odd my husband and I thought. maybe we have a different server. No we had the same server. So unfortunately that did not set well with us. our server had a constant forced smile like she was annoyed with us, herself, and her job. As our time there went on we noticed the couple to the other side of us knew the owners and were getting extra special treatment! Great for them. Our food was good. we sat with empty plates in front of us for a while before clearing. Then the table that sat after us the owner/manager asked them how their meals were...didn't ask us. We felt like the black sheep. Geez. We don't look like some bums off the street we are working professionals. This type of treatment left a bad taste for us but we are still willing to give it another shot. I guess they were just off their game that night. read more

My friend and I came here last night. I haven't been to visit this restaurant in probably 8-9 years. I would definitely recommend a reservation bc it gets busy. Also parking is limited to plan to get there a few minutes early. Food was pretty good. We had baked brie, mushroom soup and seafood risotto. The scallops were amazing in the risotto and the people sitting next to us who ordered the full scallop dish said they came in specifically for their scallops. They really were delicious. Ill be back for those. However they have a prix fixe on Sunday nights and almost the entire restaurant was filled with people 70-80 years old. I was wondering if I was in OB or somewhere else. The service was meh but we were never pressured to leave even though we were there for a while chatting. I did enjoy the concept of choosing a bottle of wine from the store and being able to drink it on the spot. Oh and the chocolate chip bread pudding was amazing! read more

Loved it! Haven't been here in a little while but got their weekly email for the Sunday fixed price dinner. Simply amazing for $20. I don't know how they do it. Potato soup w bacon, steak w a mushroom sauce and potatoes, followed by a strawberry sorbet w fresh berries on top. The three wine pairings (for a modest $10) was fantastic. We asked for a high chair for our one years old. They said they do not have high chairs. Then two waiters passing by completely ignoring us, so we left. We suppose to celebrate my husband's birthday. I would have to say this is definitely one of my most favorite restaurants in San Diego. I have celebrated my birthday here the last two years in a row. Last year I had almost thirty people come, even though the reservation had been set to 15; the entire staff was incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to make the night special. The food always tastes delicious without being overpriced... the humboldt fog goat cheese with sauteed mushrooms is amazing, as is the steamed mussels (just get the fries and aioli on the side). There is no corkage on weeknights after 11 and before that it is only $5... you can't beat it! On top of having an extensive selection of wine, there is a full bar and specialty drinks. My only complaint is that they aren't open Mondays :) Positive, super awesome staff, delicious food, fair prices, comfortable ambiance. 6 stars! read more

Party of 4, arriving for a early Saturday dinner, no reservation,we were treated to quick and cordial seating.We found a Chateauneuf du Pape , 2005 for $25, very reasonable and it was good ! And after a look at the menu, the mussels and frites would be my destination. My expectations were greeted with a large bowl of beautiful black P.E.I.mussels,crowned with a heap of delicately thin French fries, the wonderful white wine stock that bathed 25 or so,of these cold water morsels, steaming up from my plate, only made me more ravenous. 3 out of the 4 at my table ordered the mussels and the same being big eaters, we all concluded that the portions were for the border line insatiable The tender and sweet meat from each bi-valve told me I had found a heaven, where the service was great and the sound of corks popping mixed with the jet angels over head.
