I've eaten breakfast and lunch here several times on weekends. My most recent trip was today for breakfast. We ordered Hawaiian French toast, orange juice , unsweet iced tea, egg with potatoes and a biscuit. The French toast and fruit were excellent, thick slices of sausage were also most excellent.The orange juice tasted like fresh squeezed, it was great. My egg and potatoes were great. So here's what needs improvement: the biscuit was not good, hard, it almost seemed like it was made some time ago and then just reheated. I don't know what brand of tea you're using but would suggest you change to a different brand, that's an easy fix. The wait staff is always very pleasant. The manager/ owner always comes by to greet everyone. We were in a bit of a hurry today or I would have spoke to him about these couple of items. Visited 5 spot this morning. I was not impressed. The only reason I am giving three stars is because the server Kayla I think was her name was really good. The food was subpar. I had grits eggs sausage biscuit coffee. Coffee was not good eggs not good Grits no salt sausage was good. Everything lacked flavor except sausage and coffee and jelly. The biscuit looked and tasted like it was cooked day before and cold. They had sliced it in half and put it on the grill which did not taste good at all. The toast was burnt tasting. Needless to say I was not happy to pay for two meals that were not good $31 and change. Will not return. read more

I came here for the first time today. I've always passed by it on HWY 316, never knew it was a restaurant. I was greeted by a nice gentleman, who I'm assuming is the owner or the manager. He told me about their special bread and even gave me a sample of it. I don't eat bread, but my girlfriend said it was amazing! The food was delicious. This place has been around a while but somehow I've never tried it. It's kind of out of the way so it feels like a hidden gem. My experience was on a Sunday afternoon. There were four of us who were grabbing brunch. The wait was about 15 minutes, which isn't bad at all for Sunday brunch. Our bill for 4 was around $55. Again, not bad for brunch. You can find cheaper, but just go to Waffle House if that is what you need. I love WH so I may see you there. This is clearly a favorite stop for the after church crowd so you will see plenty of families with multiple generations dining together. I like seeing that. If that annoys you then go ITP for something more aligned with your hipster vibe. Here you get strong breakfast food and burgers and super friendly service. Cute little restaurant lots of options on the menu, stopped in several times for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately not a good place to go if you only have an hour for lunch as the kitchen is very slow and will leave you rushing to eat and make it back to work on time. The booth seats are all set back oddly far from the tables and the tables cannot be moved. You have to sit on the edge of the seat to not drop food in your lap. Staff is friendly, one older server likes to go around and gossip about other diners and does not seem to notice when you don't care. Stopped coming from a doctor appointment, kind of wish though it was after 1 pm I would have gotten breakfast many options sounded great . I got the mushroom bacon Brie burger ,bacon wasn't cooked all the way burger was ok couldn't taste any Brie , sweet potato fries were very good and a good amount. My granddaughter got the San Francisco it had avacado tomato onion bacon that looked crisp and beef patty she said it was really good and it was big ! I like this restaurant. The ambiance tends to be good, the hours work, and the food is usually good - and that's the biggest problem. There's no consistency in the food preparation or flavor. I'm not expecting it right every time, mind you, but at least an attempt to make it right would be appreciated. I never get the same flavor (or even close to) twice, and the portion sizes change too often. For example, my usual go to is the Reuben. It usually is correct - and New Yorkers know what I'm talking about! The last couple of times what I've received is two lightly toasted slices of rye with a little corned beef and a little sauerkraut with hardly any sauce. Honestly? The corned beef and sauerkraut were so light they might as well not have placed it in the sandwich. Giving me just the two slices of rye would've tasted the same. I'm not sure if it's because I tend to go late and they're not wanting the extra kitchen cleanup work so they gave me the leftovers; then they wouldn't need to dirty anything else - they wouldn't be the first restaurant to do that - but if that's the case they've got a serious problem with their staff. As I've also mentioned though, they have done it right several times but sadly the lack of consistency is very telling and I'll be wary of going back for a bit, especially since ten bucks for two slices of bread isn't my idea of a good meal. read more

JUST GOT RIPPED OFF!! Nice people but poor value for your money. Stopped in and got a BLT to go and it was $9 for a BLT & $3 for a cup of coffee. The BLT was pretty sad it has 3 strips of bacon 1 piece of lettuce & 1 very thin slice of tomato (and all that for only $9!). And honestly I can't remember having a more disappointing & dry BLT. I will not be returning; I will not be taking customer or clients there any longer, I can not patronize a place that isn't of value for the money, but closer to a ripoff. Great local spot for breakfast and definitely want to go back for lunch and dinner! We came in for breakfast and were pleased with the menu selection, prices and service. This is a roadside cafe just across from the Gwinnett County airport, so very convenient to the Lawrenceville area. It looks to be a take-over of a previous restaurant so little improvements here and there would help (landscaping, music inside), but the menu is really where it's at. I was disappointed with my meal at the 5 spot cafe. The portions were very small, something like I would expect from Nutra-System snack. I ordered the Chili omelet. If there were more than one and a half eggs in my omelet, I would be surprised. Maybe they used quail eggs? Also, I assumed a Chili Omelet would include, you know, some Chili. What I got was a smear of red liquid with a few grains of meat and two beans. I am not sure of the quality of the taste, since there was not enough on my plate to make a qualified judgement. Wife ordered meatloaf and mash, I ordered the San-Fran burger. + Server was pleasant and attentive + Food was fairly quick to be prepared + the burger toppings including veggies and avocado were fresh tasting - Meatloaf and gravy was far too salty, close to being inedible. Flavor other than the overwhelming sodium seemed like it was pretty good but got lost in the salt. - The burger patty had no sear or browning it was a pretty much a solid gray disk. - Half of my fries order were extremely greasy, I squeezed a particularly greasy one and squeezed oil out onto my plate. It looked like I'd expect if you "topped off" a few leftover fries in the basket with fresh ones. I'd give the value a 2/5 as well. With the challenges inherent to this location I think 5-spot will really need to improve and differentiate itself in some way to stay in business and I hope they do. This was only our 1st time here and we'll give it another shot (hopefully) in the upcoming weeks. read more

I was greeted by the owner as I walked in. The place is nicely decorated. Bathroom was clean (men's). I ordered a mixed green salad with grilled chicken, Cheese bites as a appetizer. The cheese bites were basically mozzarella bites but better cheese inside lightly seasoned on top very well done. The mixed salad was very good and large portion. The vegetables tasted very fresh. I also had ice tea mixed sweet and unsweetened tea it was good not see-through. I enjoyed my lunch. The service was great also. I came back the next day and ordered a San Francisco Berger and appetizer of fried pickles the pickles were awesome and the Berger was what i would expect in San Francisco it was amazing. read more

Came here for lunch, my office is moving around the corner and wanted to give the place a try - heard great things about it. Both my husband and I got burgers, I got the San Francisco burger and he got the regular one. We were both so hungry and were both let down. The burger was so unseasoned, literally tasted like I was eating a pound of cook beef with no salt, no pepper - just as is. The bread was soft, the lettuce and tomato was fresh, just the meat was horrible. The fries were good, u got sweet potato and my husband got the regular ones. Service was also good. I will be back and give it another try but not for the burgers - maybe breakfast. We will see...... read more
