This Canadian is finally trying some American Poutine Gilbert Feastival!
    Say M.

Let me preface this review by saying I am Canadian AF and if you cut me open I'd probably bleed cheese curds and poutine gravy. Finally got to try American Poutine Co by catching them at Gilbert Feastival. I was super excited because I love that they've brought poutine, a dirty Canadian staple, to the desert. Unfortunately have a few critiques on their poutine which ultimately missed the mark for me! Poutine is pretty much a delicious SLOP of fries, drowning in gravy with cheese curds that are squeaky bouncy fresh, yet also softened from the piping hot gravy. For me there just wasn't enough gravy. Next, it wasn't hot enough to adequately soften the fries OR cheese curds. Overall, this made the texture of the whole thing all wrong - as it was too crispy and dry, cheese curds were cold and hard, and there were a lot of uncoated, hard fries at the bottom. I'm not sure if they choose to make it this way since a sloppy slightly-mushy poutine isn't maybe what Americans customers think they want. But that's what makes real poutine amazing - it's a sloppy dirty mess of deliciousness and when you get down to the bottom of the tub the fries should still be sitting in gravy! Maybe next time I could ask for extra - but I'm still glad American Poutine Co exists, and I would definitely give em another shot to try and win this canadian glutton's heart.

I often drive up to Tempe for school related activities and I never go without stopping at at least 3 places to eat. I went to The American Poutine on a whim since I realized it was a hot minute since I'd had the taste of delicious gravy soaked fries in my mouth. I got the original flavor, as I'm a creature of habit and need someone to gas me up before I venture out of my comfort zone. It was served in a nice sustainable paper/cardboard box (+1 environment yay!). Perfect amount of gravy and the curds were très bon. I'd give this place a five if it weren't for the crispness of the fries. Typically, I prefer a light crunch with my poutine but the fries were on the heavier side of the crunchy scale. Nonetheless, delicious! And the guy working there was nice Photos are edited with VSCO or Lightroom and may not be true to color lol

    Mmmm. Gravy .......

My wife had the bacon poutine and loved it. They asked her if she needed more gravy so the6could give her a side of it. Nice that they didn't skimp, and she said it was awesome sauce!

Awesome food if you love Poutine. A bit salty on some occasions, but never a disappointment for good poutine. Staff were all friendly and expedient to get your order right and ready to go.

I've lived in Phx for 4.5 years now. Moved from Canada and have yet to find a place that serves authentic poutine! I've been craving it for sooooo long and this place hit the nail on the head! I got the original poutine because I wanted to be able to compare it to what I know from back home. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Delicious thick gravy that was so hot it melted the cheese curds, and crispy fries! Will definitely back!

Yet again I have found another hidden gem in this food truck. I will say I stepped out of my comfort zone trying this place because I'd never had Poutine not was I really sure what it was. Yeah yeah lame right? After talking with the women taking orders and asking some questions I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Poutine. Really great flavor with just enough kick to it. I couldn't finish the entire thing because it was such a huge portion so I shared with a coworker. Goes to show trying new things can be very tasty.

I love their food!!! The cheese curds are so fresh and amazing. I've had many different dishes and every one has been amazing. My favorite dish is the veggie works. Just wish they were closer to me or came to the west side more!!!

Came in with the family for poutine. Ordered chili fries, buffalo fries, original poutine and the chicken tenders/fries box for the kids. I asked the girl working how big the chicken order was and was told it was 4 strips and lots of fries. The menu says "juicy, breaded, 100% chicken". The order came out with 4 dried up tiny little nuggets. I checked to see if we got the wrong order and was told that they didn't have the strips and are substituting the nuggets. Not sure why this info wasn't given up front. 1 strip would probably equal all 4 of these nuggets. And they definitely weren't juicy 100% chicken. Had to go to Del Taco after to fill the kids up.

This food is trash, and the whole meal tasted artificial. The server prepared it in less than 1 minute. No wonder it was on groupon. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I'm soooooo down!!!! Team veggie Team fried chicken

This was a very nice time. I enjoyed the service and the staff Was amazing. I went late afternoon which was nice, cause it was quite and a quit warm environment. I'd recommend this place to all my friends. I'll be back!

Yum! Great variety and unique combinations. The fried are nice and crispy, the gravy is flavorful without being too salty, and the curds are the best we've ever had--soft, melty and tasty. The fried chicken poutine was the winner of the night! The chicken was perfectly fried and crisp. Having some beer in tap would make this absolutley fabulous.

I do wish I could remember the name of our server, but she really was great. And the hostess did a wonderful job of seating us with four under four and four adults. The patio seating was surprisingly comfortable for how hot it's been outside. The food was good. A fun and impressive cocktail menu, however since I don't drink I had the privilege of gaining my calories in some great appetizers. (BACON WRAPPED DATES) The kids breakfast was simple, but my kids complained they didn't like the eggs and potatoes because they tasted like nothing, and they were right. So for other kids it's might be just right for them, too, however if your kids have tastebuds, the sweet treats and meatballs do the trick (very garlicky meatballs for me) It was lovely and fun to visit the market afterwards too.

The queso was rich without being too heavy, and the mustard added a nice contrast. For my meal, I had the Caesar salad topped with a bistro steak cooked a perfect medium rare. The romaine was crisp, the garlic-anchovy dressing bold, and the garlic croutons and parmesan tied everything together. The steak was tender, flavorful, and elevated the salad. At the table, we also ordered the cheesesteak with Angus beef, roasted peppers and onions, Havarti cheese, and garlic aioli served on a baguette, with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was hearty and satisfying, and the fries were really good The wagyu burger was another standout--topped bacon, Gruyère and smoky blue cheese, caramelized onions, tomato jam, and garlic aioli on a pub bun. My son had ordered food from here as takeout last year. The food taste was interesting, though, I really like the cheese dip for the pretzel bites. The bites were pretty big. Lots of tables at this location, a bit warm. But our party of 14 was easily accommodated. Our daughter chose this place and it was quite loud. My husband and I are quiet people, so if we were to choose again, probably not here because of the loudness and all the TVs all over the place. But for those who like it loud, TVs and do not mind the prices on the menu, have at it. I don't remember our server's name. If she told us, I couldn't hear what she said. She was alright. Honestly, I had a hard time hearing even my son who sat next to me, and hearing my sister who sat one seat over in front of me, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Loudness is an issue for me and I do not have hearing issues. Our bill with tip came to over $700+. That was the most expensive lunch we've ever spent for our party of 14. Typically we're in the $400-500 range. But it was a special occasion. My husband and son got the 36 hr ribs. My husband really loved them. My son said it was okay. I didn't ask my brother and BIL who also got the same dish. I know my BIL was unhappy that he didn't get the side he requested and when they gave it to him (asparagus, I think), it was cold and he wasn't pleased about this. I got the hub burger and it was okay. There was a lot on the burger, but the patty itself, didn't have that much flavor. Some of the "Starters" or appetizers things were salted too much, but the burger did not taste like it had any salt. I had eaten too many starters so when my food came, I wasn't very hungry and took most of it home and ate for dinner another night. My husband and son do not like coleslaw and I ate theirs. THIS I really liked and tasted much better than KFC. I loved the sweetness and that the cabbage was shredded bigger than KFC. The pretzel bites were good. We got wings, and they were so-so. The roasted brussel sprouts were too salty. The deviled eggs were okay, but pricey for 2.5 eggs, which I do pay at Trader Joe's for organic free range pasturized eggs I could've gotten over 2 dozens. But, yes, I pay for the service and ambiance. I really thought there would be more than 5 halves for the deviled eggs. We got the nachos and they were okay. The melted cheese sauce was the best part. My mom got the fish and chips and she seemed to pick at it. She didn't want to take home, so it must not have been that good because she almost always takes a doggy bag home. My sister had the salmon and it was in a huge bowl and didn't look to be that much food. It was pricey. One of my SILs got something I didn't recognize and she said it was okay. No one I could tell was over the moon with the taste of the food and I heard the word "interesting" quite a bit. It's not that it tasted bad, but it didn't really taste good good. You know what I mean? I did bring a special order cake I got at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Gilbert. I asked Culinary Dropout if we could borrow a cake cutter. They didn't have one. Weird. This was a Red Velvet cake and this was absolutely divine. It was moist. The frosting was some sort of yummy cream cheese frosting. The cake was perfectly sized for our party of 14. The cake was the best part of our meal and it didn't come from Culinary Dropout. I would pay this much for a meal at Roy's for lunch for this sized party, but alas, all the Roy's in the valley are closed down. So sad. I'm not saying this place is bad or the food tastes bad. It's okay and pricey. If the food was great or amazing, we don't mind pricey. We have paid over $1K for meals for our big party, and happily do so when the food is equivalent to the price.
