Ruby the bartender is very kind. Made me feel like it was "The neighborhood spot." Super down to earth vibes.

I love dive bars through and through, but this place is the worst. Been into this bar a few times and not once has it been a comfortable setting or experience. The music is blasting at an 11/10 for such a tiny place and you can hardly hear yourself talk. That, combined with the horrible nature of the regulars that the bar attracts makes for a terrible time. On several occasions I've been harassed by drunken "ghetto" dudes, clearly looking to start a fight, while the bartender kept pouring them drinks and half ass paid attention to the uncomfortable atmosphere these guys create. Train your staff to not only pour drinks, but to make everyone feel welcome and not just their pals. If someone is being rude and aggressive toward other patrons, don't ignore it. read more

How do you not love a place where you meet a man that has dubed himself 'Money'? My friend and I went here after hitting up Somar and The Den, and it was great - highly entertaining. $4 Sangrias and a sausage fest. The music was great, the waitress was quirky and awesome and the staff from Somar left work to come down here for food and a quick drink on their break - that's a sign if I ever saw one! I was always hesitant to go to this place, every so-so I'd see the hood stars hanging outside (hood stars + young women = thirst alert). However, I randomly went with two of my buddies and it was NICE. I wish there were more of a crowd (like the mission) but I was immediately sold with the nice young lady who was bartending for the night and also, the jukebox... omg. I love NAS, I love AZ, I love the firm, I LOVE Mobb Deep. There were such a variety of good music, but I never really think to see this at any bars that I go to. Didn't stay for so long, but it's nice to see that there is even a bar here worth keeping in Ingleside! forever grateful. If I could rally some friends who are down to go, yeah, I'll be back. I want to give this place 4 stars, but I'll need to go again to be sure lol. So 3 it is! read more

i will be back for 2 dollar Draft beer, like Racer 5 when Warrior games are there!! I looked up a bar so that I could watch the Giants/Dodger game on Monday and found this highly rated bar near my house. When my girl friend and I walked in, we were the only females besides one of the bartenders. The entire bar area was filled with guys and everyone was just chilling because multiple games, like the Warriors, Sharks were on TV. I think were a total of 5 TVs which makes it a great sports bar. I added an extra star for the owner/bartender giving us 3 free shots of Tuaca (?) kinda sweet, and also for setting up an area, and changing the closer TV for me and my friend to sit in and to watch our Giants game! read more

Super. Mixed. Feelings. Great beer selection rotating on tap and nice bartenders any time I've gone... But I've also been harassed by clientele on a few occasions. The Ave is kind of the best neighborhood bar a girl can ask for. Me and my roommates frequently come here for $7 bottomless mimosas every Sunday. Ray is an awesome bartender and never leaves your mimosa run dry. The Ave also works with tons of local brewerys and always has a dank selection of beers and drink specials. read more

They will rip you off if you don't pay attention. We went there tonight and the first bartender charged us and extra 5 dollars for the first 2 beers. We weren't paying attention so we paid and tipped. She left and must have told the other bartender that took over, " these guys are suckers upcharge them" and sure enough she tried to charge us an extra 4 dollars for the next round. This time I questioned the charge and she was like oh I accidentally charged you for something or other. Yeah right. Avoid this dump! Ruined our time out. read more

Bartender was very rude to my girlfriend, giving her a 5 minute lecture and telling her she was living her life wrong based on an off hand joking comment. Service was fine up until then, but I do not appreciate getting the "holier than thou" treatment, and I very much do not appreciate bartenders that make my girlfriend cry. I have recently turned this into my Monday afternoon bar and go whenever possible before my Monday night class. They have a great beer selection and it is always full of regulars which I find a great sign. Gabi behind the bar is super sweet and fun to chat with for a minute and she is always cool if I stay and do homework for an hour or so. Good prices for good local beers and it is only a ten minute walk away from the CCSF campus. read more

This bar is a hidden gem in the Ingleside district. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a cool and hip place to hang out with a small group of friends. It brings in a very diverse crowd. The vibe is super chill and friendly - no judgement or pretentiousness from the bartenders or the other patrons. They offer a wide selection of whiskey. Their beer selection is stellar! They rotate and change out their beers so often that every time I visit, there are 10 new local bay area beers to try. The workers here are always friendly and down to earth. I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

I grew up a couple of blocks away bust wasn't introduced to it till about 6 months ago by my friend who's a regular. Now I go at least once a week if not more. I love this place! Reminds me of what I love about SF. I feel at home when I'm there and I go for Ruby, Nadia, and Joann. The bartenders are all wonderful and bring life to the place. The music is always great and I always end up talking to someone new and learning more about my city from the old timers. It's super old school SF which is so refreshing because it's so hard to find nowadays. I live across town but always make a point to come back after a long shift of bartending myself for a hot toddy to end my night. read more

The Ave is a great place to come have a drink with your friends. It is sort of like the "Cheers" bar of Ingleside. Bar tenders are knowledgeable and awesome! During Football season the owner even cooks up her own food every now and then for FREE! and $7 dollar bottomless mimosas? Who can pass that up?!!!! read more

I absoluetly love and adore the AVE BAR! My boyfriend and I discovered this wonderful gem about 6 months ago and have been regulars ever since. It is indeed a dive bar, but the cleanest dive bar I have been to in San Francisco. The drinks are incredibly reasonable and my two favorite bartenders are usually there. If you go, please ask for Ben or Gabby! They are very personable, funny and make amazing drinks. They have a music player where you add money into it and it plays all sorts of genres. I must say that it is pretty updated as well. I always find parking and it's in a great location within walking distance of plenty of restaurants. Ask for Ben or Gabby when you go! P. S. Local dive bar with well priced drinks and SF neighbors hanging together. The owners Bomani & Lucia are always friendly. Lots of TVs to watch all and any sports. Sometimes their owner brings in homemade food and encourages you to bring in food yourself if needed. Show your team spirit and no one will mind. Kick up conversations with whoever is around you & you most likely you will leave with a few laughs & with a new pal. This is your classic neighborhood dive bar, where everyone knows your name. And if they don't, they will by the end of the night. Gary runs the show, and he's real chill and wants to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable (extra props for giving me free rum on my birthday!). There's plenty of space to spread out, a small dance area in the back if you need to shake a tail feather, and TV's to watch the game. The only room for improvement would be to add some more music to the jukebox. Aside from that, this place is the best spot in Ingleside to meet neighborhood residents and catch up with old friends/classmates. You will definitely get at least one person asking you, "Did you go to Lincoln/Aptos/Commodore Sloat/Balboa/St. Emydius?". read more

This bar has so much heart and soul. Firefighter-owned and lots of firefighter regulars (it's near the Ocean Ave. fire station). People are so nice here. Grownups of all ages and races -- we're always treated well and we always have a good time. A real neighborhood bar for real San Franciscans. Draft beers are all Californian. read more

I'm enjoying my experience watching the warriors finals game 2. $3 prohibition ale during game time which is awesome if your on a budget. Good selection of beer.
