I love the support this business has against bullying prevention but I feel as if the staff didn't pay attention to the orders. After we left we realized that all four of our orders were wrong. Super disappointed on my bagel. I ordered a basic bagel turkey with sprouts and avocado. The bagel was super burnt hard to bite, this was for my lunch since I was at work.. it would be nice if they would ask us how we would like our bagel.. This place was great! The food tasted great too. We had breakfast bagels. The people work hard and they did a great job. The issue I see is that a lot of snobby wealthy folks come in with attitudes. If they took a second to think about someone other than themselves, maybe they wouldn't be so unhappy. Try supporting these folks. Objectively speaking, this is the best breakfast place. I've had a few things on the menu already it was delicious!! There's salsa that comes with one bagel that tastes great with all of them. We came here on a Sunday morning and there was maybe a five person line. They have a huge menu with tons of bagel sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and various drinks. We decided to just go for a classic bagel and cream cheese. They have a bunch of new cream cheese flavor. My favorite was the jalapeño cream cheese(tasted like they really infused the jalapeño flavor into the cream cheese), they also had a new spinach and bacon cream cheese however, it just tasted like spinach and bacon put into plain cream cheese. I really enjoyed the poppyseed bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. This place is on one of the main streets in Monterey and good for a quick bite. read more

Quick service even when they have a line. They always have my salt bagels which is my indulgence and any other one I visit are usually out of them. Today did a salt bagel with cream cheese and as tasty as it was the bagel was over toasted a little burnt. But I was hungry and pressed for time. Tried this for breakfast while staying at a hotel nearby that had zero food services because of Covid . It was very delicious and inexpensive . We had the breakfast burrito and a few of the bagel sandwiches . I had the omelette in a bagel . It was perfectly cooked and the bagels tasted very fresh . Staff was friendly but the quality of the food was not worth the price. For their breakfast sandwiches, they make their eggs in the microwave and I was definitely not expecting that. The onion bagel we ordered was burned during the toasting process and their cucumbers and tomatoes weren't fresh and tasted a little slimy. All of their ingredients are left out in the open in metal canisters with no covers (when i was there) so that's probably why it wasn't fresh read more

In search for a quick snack before dinner... I dragged the S.O. here (and I'm really sorry I did it...) but I was and still am, in search of good bagel spots where they serve breakfast sandwiches. It was 2ish and it was still busy ... filled with really random people from all ages and styles! I ordered their sunshine (I think that was the name) but it was a sesame bagel with scrambled eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese. The S.O. ordered their chicken parmigiana. The folks that work here (seemed like a Mom and Pop spot) were friendly but that doesn't cut what I'm about to type next... Got my bagel... smelled good... after I inhaled my chips... I took out white wrapper out and OMG... I also wanted to throw up... out sticking outside the bagel was a long string of hair! Eww. I automatically placed the bagel down, put the white wrapper back (all this without the S.O. knowing what I just discovered...) and I took a gulp of my soda and tried to calm myself down. I didn't dare tell the S.O. what I discovered b/c it was just going to cause a scene. I didn't want to tell them b/c at this point, I didn't want anything from them... ever. So I tried to eat the other half of the bagel but at that point, I was utterly disgusted. I asked the S.O. if his food was ok... he said it was eh. I was so distraught over my terrible experience here that it's taken me months to finally finish this review... Ok. I'm a bagel fanatic, but not a bagel snob. With that said, I only demand one thing from my bagels: that they taste good. Apparently that's too much to ask for here. What's the opposite of freshest? because that's what my bagel was. The bread wasn't soft, it was chewy...and somewhat challenging to bite into and the ingredients did not taste spectacular either. I also noticed they microwave their eggs. Really? If I wanted my egg microwaved, I would've just done it at home, which I would never even do. To call their bagels average is a severe understatement. In fact, to call what I ate, a bagel, is an insult to bagels everywhere. Disappointment doesn't even begin to cover it. I noticed that they also serve boba drinks so I thought I'd give those a try too. Granted, they're not a boba place so I did approach with some leniency. I ordered a taro smoothie boba drink and I kid you not, the consistency was that of saliva. I wonder if that's what was meant by "smoothie?" Yes, it was as disconcerting to swallow as it sounds. Maybe if my bagel was decent, I'd give them a break about my surprisingly slimy drink. I've also come to learn that good boba cannot be had in Monterey, the closest you can get to "good" is at Chopstix. I go there whenever I need a boba fix and I definitely recommend checking them out. Sure, they have a friendly staff, but that doesn't make up for the quality of their food. Sorry. I will not be back. I guess I would consider this place all right, but certainly not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination. After reading some of the more horrifying reviews on here, I'm half tempted to rate this with two stars . . . So the nearby Trader Joe's didn't offer much in terms of ready to eat breakfast and lunches (I didn't know! I'm from Houston! But hey we are finally going to have some TJs by the end of this year, yay!) so we decided to walk around to see what other nearby options were. I tend to stay away from bagels for the most part because it's a slippery slope. First you're having a bagel for breakfast a couple of times a week, then it's more like every morning, then it's twice a day . . . and bam! You've gained twenty pounds. Yes, bagels are my scapegoat. At the time, this seemed like the most vegan-friendly breakfast joint, so I decided to live dangerously and reunite with an old frenemy. I ordered the vegetarian sans any milk-based innards to-go. Upon unwrapping the paper package, the sandwich was looking a little unimpressive. The avocado and sprouts were on the meager side. And the onion bagel was a little chewier than I prefer. I was hungry enough so I scarfed it all down rather quickly and the bagelwich fueled me along for the next several hours. I also learned the lox cream cheese bagel also performed less than well. No specifics, sorry. So I guess this is an all right place if you must. I was downtown and wanted something a) fast, 2) reasonably nutritious & filling, 3) not too messy, and 4) not too expensive. Stopped three or so other places and wasn't sold. Dropped by Bagel Bakery as a last resort. Almost got a breakfast burrito (served all day) but saw an egg & cheese roll in the display case. Looked & tasted like a calzone. Good quality dough, like what you'd expect from a pizza parlor, and inside, one (or two) hard-boiled eggs (seemed a bit odd, but it worked), and some cheddar cheese & cream cheese. A cholesterol bomb, but it did the trick. I should have asked to have them heat it up, but I was in a hurry. I'll def be back for another and to try their breakfast burritos. read more

Very accomodating, lots of options. Nice service and fast as they could be. They probably need more help though because a line starts easily with the couple working. Came here after being ignored at the Caffe Trieste down the street on Alaverado. I got the Italian bagel sandwich, but instead on a Croissant and added spinach. It starts out as $3.75 then you get charged for the additions/substitutions... ended up being about $5 or something. I dk how that happened... but I was too hungry. It's okay and definitely filled me up. I really wished they didn't microwave the eggs. If they cooked em over a grill... they'd probably get better reviews and business.
