This is by far my favorite breakfast place in the area. Get there early cause it gets busy quick. I will always try to go before 9am to avoid a long wait. The service is always great, as is the constantly changing specials menu. My favorite specials are when they have lobster and asparagus Benedict or the Portuguese steak with eggs and breakfast potatoes. My go to on the regular menu is the corned beef hash (best in the area) but there isn't anything I've ever ordered that wasn't fantastic. Lots of choices for eggs Benedict or omelet fillings too. Lobster meat, roasted peppers, artichokes, are among the many not-so-typical items you'll find on the menu. Crab cake Benedict is also phenomenal! Love the barn. We try to eat here at least once a month in the summer. If we don't get out of the house by 8am on the weekend we don't even try it. The place is usually very busy. If no one is taking names when you walk in make sure to sign the book with your party's name and how many you have. Otherwise 6 other families walk in behind you and then suddenly you are behind them in line. The place is rustic with small wooden tables and miss matched chairs. It lives up to the name. The staff are usually very friendly and take care of guests with courtesy. It is great breakfast food with some menu items having a seafood and Portuguese touch. Like the eggs sakonet with a helping of lobster or the chorizo in the omelette or egg sandwich. One of my favorites is their homemade corned beef hash. I try the hash everywhere we go but I always ask if it comes out of a can, if so I pass. The Barn's CBH is great with chunks of fresh veggies like carrot, onion and peppers. Some of the best I have had. The blueberry pancakes were also great this week. My girls always like the waffles. I had to update this review. We went this morning for breakfast and unfortunately they have updated their CBH and NOT for the better. It now seems to come from a can with maybe some homemade additions like shredded carrots and diced peppers. The problem is the meat and potatoes now seemed preprocessed. Off my list for favorite CBH. Still a great overall location for breakfast. If you get there after 9 or 9:30 on a weekend expect a line, sign the book and then wait to enjoy a nice experience. Try the hash! read more

The breakfast and scenery here are second to none... the food is brilliant and service even better... always a line to get in for weekend breakfast. Which brings me to the reason for just four stars. They need to do two things much better and the first would be to set up a self serve "grab your own coffee station either in the foyer or just outside with the coffee mugs used inside so diners can grab a cup to either be added to the check once inside or just use the honor system used in hotels and motels around the world. The second is more of a rule to impose and while not wildly popular would enhance the experience for all... they need a "wait outside" or "behind this line" rule. And keep the prospective guests away from the sitting current guests. This morning while we walked to the local coffee shop just to get some "joe" to bear the wait!!! And I do mean bear... our table was ready when we got back... it's just around the corner... so we were seated just inside the dining room at a bench seat tucked under the stairs to the upper level. Nice seat ordinarily but the pressure of the folks arriving that wanted to sit had pushed the wait list folks or prospective diners into the dining room. Most places simply would not allow this and ask the, soon to be diners, to respect the current diners privacy, and wait in the foyer or outdoors. This is how most places I have been and I have been to most if not many area restaurants as I sell to restaurants so I am in and out of them and have been for fifteen years in and around the state of Rhode Island. Back to the Barn... and their failed policy, the Barn saw this as ok to have diners just standing in everyone's way and left staring at the diners... as if intimidating us to hurry so they could enjoy their breakfast. To make matters worse an especially idiotic man stood just in front of my table staring at me... while he rattled his ice coffee container nervously (from in outside vendor no less) in the gentleman seated just next to "Sir Dorkalot's" ear. I could see this poor mans anger rising and caught his over his shoulder stares directed at "meonlythinksofmeselve's" way but he was too busy staring at me to notice, he was annoying EVERYONE who had the misfortune to have arrived and been seated ostensibly to enjoy an expensive but worth it meal, ahead of "Imokyourinmyway's" tardy entrance. It angered me to the point that... I spoke to the "dukeof dorkdom's" and expressed hope that he could sit in the table we were vacating so everyone still waiting could stare at him. The Barn is really to blame allowing him and his date/wife/ whatever to just stand in the seating area. It just not a way to run a place with such good food and service that it draws the crowds that need managing... but it does, and they do need to be controlled in some fashion as I will not be back anytime soon and I know I'm speaking for many I just saw be intimidated by this idiot standing in everyone's way and just staring at the diners. read more

I haven't been during Covid yet, but I think they have outdoor seating, anyway I'm reviewing for the last time I was there, almost a year ago. It's super rustic looking, and amazing decor. There are paintings all over, and it all fits. The food is AMAZING, and it's great for kids. When I was little I would get pancakes in the shape of Micky Mouse. A few complaints. It's often EXTREMELY packed, and they have an upper floor for seating but they rarely open it. Also, DON'T SIT OUTSIDE IN THE SUMMER. It's a beautiful view but there are so many bees, hornets, and unidentified bugs flying around. It's right across from a baseball field, so you can burn off all the calories you just ate. read more

The Barn is a wonderful breakfast spot! A renovated 2-story barn, the ambience is warm and inviting, with a touch of history. Breakfast is served until Noon on weekdays and till 1:00pm on the weekends. It is always busy, but the wait is never too long. We have been multiple times, during the weekend, and have never had more than a couple minute wait. Overall, if you love breakfast and enjoy a cozy modern-country feel, the Barn is a must-try! Delicious food, good coffee and excellent service. I do wish they were open later, but you can't have everything. I recommend the "Eggs Blackstone" with a small plate of pancakes. I know how hard it is to keep up the food quality up when it's crazy busy as I have worked in a very similar restaurant as The Barn, but everything we ordered for breakfast was perfectly cooked. It sounds crazy to praise breakfast (when it sounds so simple) so highly but I cannot tell you how many places cannot serve a nice breakfast. Crispy bacon, hot, crispy, (not cold and limp!) well-seasoned breakfast potatoes, perfectly cooked poached eggs, yummy cranberry toast, perfectly delic cranberry french toast--all perfect, a very nice treat for someone who cooks all of our breakfasts every weekend. Their breakfast menu doesn't have that much selection mainly about all kind eggs even their special menus too. The parking lot is alway the challenge. The waiting time for dine in is alway at least 30 mins or more. Food was just so-so but there are only 3 restaurant in the area lol, we don't have any choice. What a surprise! A look at Yelp while visiting the area and not expecting much---just a solid meal---produced a restaurant "Wow." What a breakfast! A Mozambique shrimp dish with eggs, peppers, and Hollendaise and a side portion of buttercake smothered with blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream. It was all delicious beyond explanation. This review is past due as it took place a few months ago but it still upsets me to this day as my family and I have come here for years! We have also brought many people here who have also brought their families here and the last time my family and I went it was a complete mess. When we first arrived the parking lot was full but after driving a half hour or so with a hungry toddler and two other adults we decided to still put our name and phone number down. I was told they would call us when it was our turn and the wait was going to be almost an hour so we were like okay there's a pond nearby we can go hangout there because they're going to call us. The time goes by and they still didn't call so I called and was told they needed another half hour because the people were still eating so I set a timer and we left with a few minutes to spare seeing it's right there. We sat in the parking lot for a little longer and noticed there were two other cars there so I was thinking why wouldn't they have a table? So I go in then a waitress that was a shorter lady with lighter hair comes up to us and says they're closed. So I explained that no one called us I had my phone in my hand and showed her my call log with no missed calls she then rolled her eyes at us and said she was going to get the owner or manager I forget. I have never in my life experienced something like this I even glanced at our names on the waitlist which was still there and it was crossed off. It was such a waste of time! So we left we didn't talk to the other person because god knows how that would have went. Their food is delicious they're great with coming by with the coffee to top you off but I will never ever go back there or recommend to anyone. read more

This is such a great breakfast place. I've eaten here a half dozen times or more and every time it's excellent. All their breakfasts are really good. I've had half a dozen different ones. Today I ordered the Eggs on the Bayou which is two poached eggs on top of crab cakes on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce. It was excellent. This is real crab meat and they make the crab cakes themselves. I can't remember the last place I asked if it was real crab meat or imitation and got the answer: "Yes, it's real crab meat." The Barn is at the higher end price wise but it's also at the higher end in terms of food quality, creativity and service. The crab cake breakfast I think was one of the more expensive breakfasts at $13.50 and $2.50 for coffee. It's definitely worth it. The coffee is good, with continuous refills. I haven't had the waffles or pancakes but they look creative and well put together and they have Mickey Mouse pancakes for that special guest of yours. This place is great any time of year but it is really delightful in the warm weather when you can sit outside in a lovely garden and treelined space. Service is very friendly and professional and efficient. They offer some selections with a nod to the local area's heavy Portuguese influence on food in nearby New Bedford and Fall River, with chorizo, etc. read more

My friends and I drove like an hour to try this place, because we'd heard amazing things about their breakfast menu. Once we arrived, we were thrilled with the atmosphere and delish-sounding specials. My boyfriend ordered a Belgian waffle with fresh berries from the specials board. When it arrived at the table, my heart literally dropped. "Fresh berries" amounted to approximately seven slices of old, shrivel-y berries on a dry waffle. I am not exaggerating here. Sparse decrepit berries. No sugar. No maceration goin' on. DRY waffle. No whipped cream. SADNESS. It should be noted that my boyfriend NEVER complains. He NEVER sends anything back. But I encouraged him to say something to our waitress, as this waffle was SHOCKINGLY pathetic. When she came around to ask how everything was, he said something like, Actually, I'm a little disappointed with mine. I mean, the berries are kinda crappy. The waitress proceeded to ARGUE with him, telling him the berries were "FRESH THAT MORNING." Anyone with EYES could tell the berries were not fresh. And how ridiculous to argue with a disappointed customer! She eventually relented with her indignant defense and took the waffle off the bill. The rest of our breakfasts were passable, but unimpressive. We also had mimosa's, which I'm pretty sure were Orangina with maybe half a shot of champagne. The bill for six of us totaled something like $150. Sadly, I wouldn't even bother to give this place a second try. Sorry, rustic country barn! read more
