Chef special deviled eggs with Old Bay seasoning and crab meat.
    Will C.

Driving up to this huge estate is a delight on the eyes. The grounds are phenomenally maintained and all the buildings are perfectly preserved. This is so much more than just a restaurant. Allenberry is a massive estate with lodging, fly fishing, pickleball courts, salt water pool and The Barn Restaurant. You'll find casually dressed to suit and ties and evening gowns as the main attire. The staff are super friendly, funny and helpful with menu options. Tons of drinks to choose from with several specialty drinks available. The prickly pear mojito is delicious and refreshing. Menu options are plentiful with hamburgers from $12 to filet mignon upwards of $40. So depending on your spending, there is something for everybody. Plenty of seafood options too. I had the deviled eggs for an appetizer which were delicious! For my main dish, I had the lobster tortellini which was perfectly prepared and delicious with large lumps of lobster and fresh juicy cherry tomatoes perfectly prepared. For desert, I couldn't decide so I picked the crème brûlée which was creamy and exquisitely rich with a perfectly torched caramel crust. I also had the sticky bun with side of vanilla bean ice cream. The sticky bun was gooey delicious and almost like a cake rather than a bread. The ice cream was homemade with a rich and creamy texture. I highly recommend The Barn for anyone looking for an elegant, but not over the top stuffy restaurant with wonderfully prepared food and drinks.

This place has a lovely rustic interior and is located inside a resort. They offer both indoor/outdoor seating during the summer season. The food is good, the ambiance is relaxing, and the service is friendly. Overall, a great place to meet friends or have an intimate date night.

The setting here is very nice. Upscale with good views of the surrounding wooded areas. The food is OK. We started with crispy calamari & the hummus plate. They were OK. For entrees, I had the trout amandine & my husband had the ahi tuna. Mine was fine, Tom was quite happy with his. Our friend Jack had the cowboy pork chop, which looked great. Driving home was tricky. Google maps sent us the shortest route, which meant lots & lots of country roads. Next time, we'll definite come back via route 81.

    Smoked pork banh mi

We visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening when they have live music on the patio. The band that night was an oldies mix and added a really nice atmosphere. Serivce on the patio was a little slow, but the waiters were very friendly. I ordered the banh mi, and what I got was a smoked pulled pork sandwich, which was amazing, but definitely not a banh mi. If you're looking for pickled radish and carrots, this is not the sandwich, but if you want a really good pulled pork sandwich smoked to near perfection, then I'd go for it. Would love to come back and try more.

    Prix fixe menu

As another reviewer noted there was no mention of a $60 pp prix fixe menu. We were kind of blind sided by that but decided to stay. As a note we have been to Antrim and several other fine dining prix fixe experiences in the last several months so we have pretty good expectations for this price point. I wasn't going to leave a review but I would want to know what to expect more myself in the future. Our appetizers were the tuna and smoked buratta. The tuna was fine. Not particularly refined and the wasabi drizzle was exceptionally mild, but excellent salt content. The "buratta" was a cold piece of hard mozzarella. At no point was it ever buratta. The flavor was ok but it wasn't what we ordered. Our main was delicious but again the execution was just a bit off. We both got the hanger steak, both were cooked to different temperatures very well. The steak had a chimichurri with it, but it was not placed on the steak but in the potatoes. This made it hard to actually enjoy it with the steak. Our desserts were fine, but again execution. The creme brûlée did not have a hard shell to crack, it was barely torched. The pavlova was good. Our drinks also were not great, and another stumble with the menu. Two of the signature Valentine's cocktails had milk bases- rumchata based and a mudslide. That is a pretty clumsy signature cocktail. The third was a mule that was not at all well balanced. One of our beverages also had a fly in it. In all, our service and server was great, the location was really cool and the meal was ok, but not 200$ with tip at all. I will probably not be back.

The food was good. Starters are tasty. But entrees are too expensive for the quantity given.

Not too old, but we're definitely not as young and fast on our feet as we used to be. The youngster took two menus and told us to follow him. We went right past several perfectly empty booths, trying to keep up with this guy. He disappeared into the side room completely oblivious to the fact that he had lost us along the way. When we finally caught up, he actually looked annoyed that we had made him wait. After we got seated, our server took our order and we were served our breakfast. My wife had an omelet with home fries and wheat toast, while I had two eggs over, homefries, sausage patty and sourdough toast ($1.00 upcharge). We both had coffee and water to drink. The food was good. A real diner breakfast. The problem is had was the value for the price. Our bill was $33.82 after taxes. We should have gone to our local diner (Dover) and had a breakfast that was every bit as good for half the price. In the future, that's exactly what we'll do.

The steaks were okay -- they seemed tough and mine, for medium seemed slightly over cooked with hardly any pink inside and what there was was very light pinkish / brown color. Jenni said her steak was done to her satisfaction -- medium well. I would say mine was probably also medium well. My steak had a lot of fat and gristle that I didn't eat. The mashed potatoes were amazing. My asparagus seemed stingy in size and number of stalks and added little taste or filling to my plate. Jenni said her green beans were okay. The iced tea was great. My Pepsi didn't taste flavorful though Alyssa said she checked the soda bags and they were full. I swapped for sweetened ice tea. Alyssa was a super friendly server who checked on us regularly. We want to patronize local businesses but we probably wouldn't get our meals again and would try something else. Jenni said she'd rate our experience as a 2.5 which is exactly what I'd give so we're going to round up since maybe our experience was just a little off this evening.

I visited Cold Springs Inn for the first time on a cold, rainy Saturday night for a solo date…read morenight--and let me tell you, this place was absolutely worth braving the weather for! Tucked away along Yellow Breeches Creek, it has that perfect "hidden gem" feel. There's a large gravel parking lot right across the street, so parking was easy, and I was seated quickly near the bar when I arrived around 5:15pm. Inside, it leans more bar than restaurant--and I mean that in the best way. Dim lighting, cozy vibes, and a laid-back atmosphere made it feel instantly comfortable. There's limited indoor seating--maybe around six tables and space for about 30 people total, plus bar seating--so I can see how it fills up fast. And honestly, this place is made for nice weather. The outdoor area along the creek looked beautiful, with tons of seating that I can already tell would be amazing on a warm day. Unfortunately, 49° and rain kept me inside this time, but I'll absolutely be back to experience the deck! Cold Springs Inn brews their own beer, with a solid lineup of house brews on tap, along with a pretty extensive food menu. I'm not much of a craft beer person, so I kept it simple--because I already knew exactly what I came for: The Big Papi. A grilled, foot-long all-beef hot dog topped with house chili, onions, and melted Cooper Sharp cheese on a toasted hoagie roll ($17), paired with a Diet Coke ($3)...balance. A short while later, my food arrived--on an actual baking sheet--and I knew immediately this was going to be something special. I've eaten a lot of chili dogs, and I have never seen one like this. It was a masterpiece: lightly toasted hoagie roll, a massive hot dog, an insane amount of flavorful chili, and perfectly melted Cooper Sharp cheese placed under the dog so it stayed in every bite. That detail alone? Genius. It was messy, over-the-top, and absolutely delicious--easily one of the best chili dogs I've ever had! I also stuck with the house-made chips, and I'm so glad I did. Thick-cut, super crispy, and heavily seasoned (which I love), they were some of the best chips I've had in a long time. I wanted to finish the whole meal, but I knew better--I cut the Big Papi in half before starting and ended up taking a solid portion home. The chips, however, didn't stand a chance. I love a no-rules date night! Service was great--friendly, attentive, and quick without hovering. By the time I was finishing up, the place had completely filled in, and there was even a group waiting at the door, which says a lot for such a small indoor space. One thing to note: while I was there, I saw on social media that they planned to close early due to the weather, so if you're heading there on a rainy or questionable day, it's probably smart to check ahead. All in all, Cold Springs Inn is a total hidden gem! Great atmosphere, great food, fair prices--and that Big Papi alone is reason enough to come back. And I will absolutely be back...preferably on a sunny day, sitting by the creek, with another chili dog in front of me.
