This place is close to my job and I wanted to see how it compares to other Thai restaurants nearby. I ordered drunken noodle with shrimp from the lunch menu (and forgot to take a photo). They provided the hot & sour soup and spring roll which are both vegetarian. I asked for my noodles to be medium spicy but this was a little hotter than medium. While visiting family in High Point, I had the opportunity to order takeout from The Basil Leaf Sushi and Thai. My husband and I shared the crab rangoon and three sushi rolls: Highway 68, Lucky Clover, and the High Point Roll. I was really impressed with both the portion size and the quality of the ingredients. The crab rangoon was some of the best I've had. The sushi fish was fresh and the ratio of fish to rice and balance of flavors was pretty spot on. My only criticism would be that the cilantro on the Lucky Clover was heavy handed (speaking as someone who loves cilantro) but I was intrigued by the uniqueness of this roll. None of the three rolls were tiny, and in hindsight we could have ordered two rolls and it would have been plenty of food. The atmosphere of the restaurant seems intimate and cozy - definitely a place I could see going for a date night. When in the area, I'd happily visit this restaurant again and try more of the menu. read more

Had a great lunch at this newly opened Basil Leaf, it's conveniently close to my office, it's located in the newly built shopping villge that is also home to Duck Donuts and Burger Batch. I had the Drunken Noodles lunch special, which was excellent, especially after adding some of the red sauces that were in the spice rack that they bring to the table. Shortly after placing my order the waitress brought a plate with a little bowl of soup which was very good and flavorful along with a spring roll with a sweet & sour type dipping sauce. The meal was excellent as was the service. Great food and great people here. I will be back for sure. read more

The recommendations where the way I went and it exceeded in all aspects not just taste. I swear a piece of artwork was laid on my table and it hurt to eat it because it was so beautiful. It's definitely better when the owner is around. We won't be going there for a while. It's not the 1st time but several times the desert was made and brought to us, cold fried bananas and molten ice cream. This new spot is another of the abundant Thai restaurants in the area and I had to try it. Ample seating and the natural lighting from the large windows are amazing. Looks like there might be some outside seating soon. You will be presented with an interestingly flavored onion tofu soup and a fried vegetable spring roll before the meal. Of course I had to order their Red Curry Chicken; not the best but the better of the ones I've had in the area. The chicken and flavor was well done and I couldn't help but to finish the entire thing. The rice was a good texture and not hard. I tried their Thai Hot and it wasn't hot enough, they do have Super Thai Hot but that had too many stars so I just stuck with the spice rack. The service was less than friendly but the real problem was my entree, Pad Prik Pow, which I ordered because I wanted the variety of vegetables the menu said it included. Friendly, fast service. Very clean. They give you complimentary appetizer the appetizer consist of one vegetable eggroll and a small cup of hot and sour soup eggroll was nice fresh and crunchy and the hot and sour soup is nice and like it's not very salty. My husband ordered his main dish which is drunken noodles with chicken . He said it was flavorful the vegetable was fresh but he said he thinks he tasted better. For mine main entrée I had chicken pad Thai which was more on the Sweetside wasn't salty but a little too sweet for me that everything was fresh the service was great they even change the channel at the TV for us they were very accommodating. read more

Tasty Thai near the airport in Greensboro NC. Noticed that there were several Thai spots close to here with decent Yelp reviews, but decided on this one since it was new. Went in for dinner with some co-workers and the place was pretty crowded, seems like the word is getting out! Sampled a little bit of everything including some sushi rolls, salads, pad thai and drunken noodles. All of it was good and flavorful! Flew in this evening and this Thai restaurant wasn't far from hotel. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We ordered the crab rangoon as an appetizer. It was delicious. We got Drunken Noodles and Pad Woonsen. Both were good but the drunken noodles was fabulous! We came in around 9:15 and was waiting for one more person to join us. This was a really cute and pretty restaurant in a new shopping center in Greensboro. I came with my family for a early dinner on a Saturday and we were promptly seated and served. Service was wonderful and our waiter was really funny, we really enjoyed him! The food was overall pretty good, some things stood out more than others. I loved my Tom kha, one of my favorite soups. The fish special was also excellent, and my mom's pineapple fried rice was the best thing I ate. The portion is plentiful and could easily be split between two people or two meals. The service was friendly and attentive but I did go during a down time. I'd only skimmed some of the Yelp reviews, and Basil Leaf seemed to get positive ratings overall. My family and I decided to try it. When we arrived, we were promptly shown to our table in a comfortable, clean, spacious dining area. Our drink & appetizer order: Thai iced tea, edamame, crab rangoons. The edamame was good. The Thai iced tea was cold and refreshing served in a mason jar (nice touch). The real star of the show was the amazing crab rangoons: stuffed full & golden fried to perfection, they taste like crab and not just cream cheese. Very satisfying. Our main course order: octopus nigiri, tuna sashimi, chicken katsu, fish roe nigiri, Hot Mango Roll, and the Sunset Roll. My Hot Mango Roll was delicious, my family contentedly devoured their meals. Very satisfying. Overall: Impressive portions (large rolls), very appealing presentation, all of our meals were fresh with a great variety of flavors. Our server was attentive and helpful, we were offered refills more than once. A memorable experience, a good location inside the plaza located just off the highway. Really a hidden treasure. Typically when I get sushi, I like to try it without the ginger, soy, wasabi concoction because if I love it that way, the spices will only enhance it. Well, the flavor of the sushi fell flat to me. The Basil Leaf. Located in a new mini strip mall that recently popped up on 68. Plenty of parking here. Well lit at night. Inside is brand new everything. Squeaky clean. Lots of glass on all 3 sides makes this place feel like a high end restaurant in a big city. With so much effort required to be in a super premium place like this it's hard to believe the place is so bad. But it is. As other Yelpers have said, do yourself a favor and eat at any of the other Thai restaurants in High Point. This place is over priced and under delivered. I recently stopped in here while in the area. We got seated immediately, but from that point on it was a long long time between visits from the servers. It took at least 10 minutes to get a drink. The service was so slow. There were plenty of people working here but they all seemed disoriented, milling around with no real direction. We had at least 4 different people at our table during the visit and none of them had 1 clue what they were doing. The process to check out was equally as nerve racking and I timed 5 minutes from when I put my card down until someone came to get it. The restaurant is small, plenty of people here, there is no reason for such a profound lack of service. F on service. The food. Way over priced. Pad Thai with Chicken. $13. They have a large sushi selection and the cheapest thing on the menu is a plain tuna or salmon roll for $6.25. Some rolls will set you back $15!! The food was pretty quick to come out, but the sushi took a long time. There was one sushi chef and he was overwhelmed. On top of that plates of sushi would sit around waiting for someone to notice then then try to figure out where they went. The Pad Thai was very watery and soupy. Hard to eat. Zero spice. This place is all right. I'm a little tough when it comes to Thai restaurants. My overall experience was great, but the flavors were not to my liking and the prices were a little high for Thai. The service is friendly. My glass was always filled, my questions were always answered; they were on it. The portions were generous, but I'd appreciate the portions if I liked the food more. The beef salad tasted bland. Almost like it was cooked together and not marinated. The pad Thai was very wet, almost soupy. I guess some people could enjoy it that way, but this isn't one of the best pad thai's I've had. The sushi roll I've tried was pretty good though. I guess you could say you get your money's worth with the amount of food you get. I went for lunch and I expected good lunch prices, but the prices are a little too high for Thai lunch. The prices can't compete with the other Thai restaurants in the area.
