Stopped by for weeknight drinks and had a decent time. The Beach Bar is nice and casual with a walk up bar along with a few tables. The seating area with beach views isn't too big, so I sat towards the back under the trees which was nice! I had a Pina Colada to drink as well as some of the Ahi Poke Nachos. The Pina Colada was delicious, not too sweet and very smooth. The Ahi Nachos were also pretty good, a very generous serving and the fish was fresh and well marinated. The guac seemed like it might have been prepackaged, and didn't add much to the dish. The bread pudding was also pretty good, but very raisin heavy, so if that's not your thing I wouldn't order. While the food was enjoyable, I do think you're partially paying for the atmosphere and name. I think the pricing for the quality should be a little less steep. The bar also had live music, which was a bit of a let down. I think there are better venues for listening in the Waikiki area. The one major highlight of this place is the service. It is exceptional! My server was prompt, polite, and friendly! Really made me feel welcome and relaxed! Overall, if you're looking for somewhere to sit outside and have a few drinks, and splurge a little this is a pretty good spot! read more

The Moana Sunset Mai Tai's are great here. The garlic fries, Maui Onion Rings, Surfrider Burger and Kalua Pig Cubano are delicous! The location in Waikiki to the beach is literally a few steps. The ambiance at night watching the sunsets is also hard to beat. The lights they point up on the the multiple base locations on the Banyan tree just make it look really great. I can certainly say that I very much miss this place. Lots of open seating, open to the public, live music, a great view of the beach, friendly staff, good food and drinks. Do I need to go on? Nearly every night we found ourselves stopping by here and having the best time. With a huge banyan tree in the center of the place and the beach to look out to, the sights surrounding you here is nearly unmatched. Stopped by here for some drinks and the Poke Nachos. For the drink I got a Rising Tide. The drink was good, but very pricey. Most cocktails here averaged about $20. The Rising Tide was kind of like a Pina Colada meets a Mojito. The puréed fruits with the alcohol was delicious. The Poke Nachos were okay. You really can't mess up fried wontons, but the poke was just cubes of ahi with sauce on top. Not really any marinade or flavor integration I've come to expect from Hawaiian poke. So, the nachos really just tasted like it consisted of three separate components rather than made up a single dish. Overall, a nice environment with the beach view. Very peaceful restaurant, but very pricey. Drinks are good, but food is mediocre. Might recommend to someone just looking to sip some cocktails on the beach, but probably better options along Waikiki Beach. read more

I love the banyan tree in the middle of the courtyard and the bartenders are super nice here (Tommy and Chris). The food and drinks are pretty good here but don't expect fast service during brunch time during peak times of Christmas/ New Year's. Otherwise, things move pretty quickly. This is more of a place to hang out and chill. I had the fish taco with catch of the day and it was ok. The ahi poke bowl is solid (the rice can be more consistent). They don't serve coffee so you would need to get a coffee at the snack bar to bring it over. We stayed at the Moana Surfrider and enjoyed The Beach Bar every night there. Amazing food, drinks, service, views and entertainment. We also stayed at the Royal during our trip and went to their Mai Tai Bar (also on the beach) and we prefer The Beach Bar at Moana. The Beach Bar feels less crowded (I think it's bigger?), the food is better and I like that it's an open seating concept. Seems like both bars use similar entertainment since we saw some of the same singers at both - which is fine because they were all great. I love that these places offer live music every night - it really adds something to the environment. We absolutely LOVED the Poke Nachos and the Ginger Scallion Edamame. We ordered the edamame every night. The Garlic Fries were good but not great - they are the very thick steak fries and we prefer the thinner/shoestring type. We also really enjoyed the Let's Get Fizzical and Blue Hawaii drinks, they were tasty but still decently strong. So many places in Hawaii charge you $15-$20 per drink and it's basically a smoothie or juice with a dash of alcohol but these drinks I actually thought were worth their price. 100% will return if we go back to Waikiki! read more

Hygiene is a big problem, especially during this Covid time! All the bartenders touched the fruit garnish and everything else for making drinks, then took customer's credit cards/cash as well as touched the cashier register/screen WITHOUT washing their hands AT ALL. The bartender who helped me wiped on his pants in between making drinks. I have a video to prove it but of course yelp does not let me post it Service was REALLY REALLY bad. I could clearly see that the bartender, who made my drink, did not want to serve a woman. He delivered my order wrong twice, overcharged, and had such a bad attitude to resolve the situation. The manager was nice to take care of the problem. I left tip just because I want to support the Hawaiian economy in general. However, as a kama'aina who had been at this bar multiple times, I have never had such a negative experience and decided not to go back and recommend this bar to anyone. I don't think my family deserved this kinda experience and hygiene we had today! read more

Great bar with a wonderful view of the beach. Very few bars that I found on Waikiki felt like they were on the beach with a good view. A lot of bars' views were covered by greenery and decor. To me the water and the beach IS the decor. Staff was friendly and attentive. The other guests at the bar were open and friendly as well. The over all vibe welcomed interactions and socializing. The location is of course, amazing. That's what makes it worth coming here to eat or drink. Service was pretty slow - the waitress took our drink order and forgot. She came back and reintroduced herself, then realized she had already helped us. So that was interesting. Our drinks were pretty good! I recommend the banana daiquiri. My partner ordered the burger and said it was awful, he ranks it as the worst burger he had in Oahu. For me I ordered the mission burger which has a vegan impossible patty. I requested it Vegan without the cheese - however when it arrived, there was a mysterious Aioli on it. I asked her and she brought it back to the kitchen and I waited 20 minutes for a new burger. I felt bad, but also the menu did not like aioli (which are typically made with egg). I'd recommend it for drinks and the view only, the food isn't worth it. And be prepared to wait a long, long time! One final note - the queue is confusing and the staff are rude when you ask if you should seat yourself or queue somewhere. read more

On the beach side of The Moana Surfrider Hotel, is The Beach Bar, one of my favorite spots in Waikiki. It's literally on the beach, steps from the water, making it great for people watching during the day and the best view of sunsets every night. The vibrant colors expand right in front of this spot with the sun dipping below the horizon to the west, and Diamond Head to the east basking in the glow. During the evening there is live music with a Hawaiian flavor. Sitting at a table along the sand, or a barstool facing the water, music playing, enjoying a Mai Tai, is how I start my vacation. Instant relaxation! The Mai Tai's are excellent but definitely on pricey side, but not overly so. After one, I usually switch to a glass of red wine which is about $9, and way more reasonable. The food is ok, some items better than others. Burgers are a good choice. Ive always found the service to be very attentive whether I was sitting at the bar or at one of the tables. Once when I as there alone, and sitting at a table, I felt pressure because others were waiting for a table and lurking very close. The waiter came to see if I wanted anything else and I told him I would finish up so that others could have my table. He said, stay as long as you would like, you were here first and the spot is yours to enjoy for as long as you would like. I ordered another drink! Then invited another couple to share the table, and we ended up staying until closing. That's the thing about Waikiki. Everyone is on vacation in Paradise so they are happy! I preferred this bar much more than Dukes!! A little more low-key, and you don't need to ask the servers for a table. It was more like first come first serve. Just go in and grab an available table. We saw some nice pool chairs overlooking the beach, so decided to sit there instead of at a table, but had to self-serve. No problem! We enjoyed these free seats a lot, watching the beach. Beggars can't be choosers, right? hahaha It was raining flakily when we were sitting there, but there were some chairs with cover, so we moved a couple times. The drinks were okay too. By far one of the best beach bars in Waikiki. The moment you drive up to the Moana Surfrider and step out, you walk into history. Walking in and past the hotel entry which leads you to the courtyard that overlooks the Banyan tree and beautiful ocean views, you've reached paradise. It's difficult to say what time of the day is best to enjoy the Beach Bar since we experienced both. During the day, you can enjoy lunch and drinks under the umbrellas and gaze out towards the pacific and people watch. Looking for a place to enjoy a drink or seven? You'll want to consider The Beach Bar. While first come first serve, there are plenty of shaded tables to hide from the sun. As the night progresses and the sun sets, you'll enjoy the lit up banyan that covers the courtyard. The drinks are stiff and the food options are decent. I couldn't stop myself from continuously eating the edamame. Entertainment is also pretty solid with a small stage setup. We were staying at Moana as needed a quick bite to eat before our big boating day. There seemed to be plenty of tables and you know the table is clean as they have a little thing they turn over when you sit (saying it'll need to be cleaned) We had lunch one day here and then came back on our last day after checking out as our flight didn't leave for later. We sat while I husband went to grab sandwiches from a nearby place as we were in the mood for anything 'fancy' the kind kind waiter (sorry I don't know his name) young man on 3/12 about 11 brought us waters when we sat down. I said I'm so sorry we won't be eating here today but we will order drinks if you need us to (to be able to sit!) When my Husband gets back. He said oh no no worries. We aren't busy yet so feel free to sit. I thought that was so nice he helped us even when we weren't going to eat there. Not sure if you can even sit at the tables out there and not eat as it's confusing but we had to get to a ribbon making class so we had to leave shortly when my husband arrived back from grabbing food so we didn't have time to eat there. He came over and made sure we were okay when my hubby arrived and we said yes so sorry we have to run. He was so nice and kind. WOW! This was the best beach bar we found. Pricey, yes, but we lingered here over rum and soda and no one on staff cared that we stayed after we had paid to enjoy the hula dance and music. Clean, professional, quiet, and so beautifully located under that huge banyan tree. They also have Kula rum from Maui. This is paradise. read more

The Mai Tai..ehhh I drink quite a bit, I'm in a lot of Craft Cocktail bars.. when charging $16 for a drink served in a plastic cup.. it needs to be pretty over the top..: I'm not gonna say Duke's is much better.. tried them both.. Myna Bar closed, but the San Fran Tiki Bars are doing a better Mai Tai.. in my opinion.. View is spectacular here.. not taking that away from them there.. The most beautiful bar in all of Waikiki. Incredible banyan tree is the center of attraction. Beach in view. Old plantation style hotel is the backdrop. This is iconic Waikiki beach. In full disclosure, it used to be more authentic before Westin took over. It's a bit more corporate feeling now. But still, the bar and banyan tree are beautiful. And the mai tais are decent. Highly recommend to at least step in and look at as you walk by. And better yet, to take a load off for a few minutes and enjoy. read more

This is a beautiful outdoor patio restaurant with a beautiful view of Diamond Head and the ocean. I was not able to dine at this restaurant, but I will come back to try the menu. My friends and I stopped by the restaurant to share a bottle of wine and to enjoy the sunset colors. So I found my way back to this place after 21 years and I am happy to say even with the much larger beach crowds, the drinks and view were still top-notch. My wife ordered the Mai Tai, of course, and I ordered the Bird of Paradise. Normally I prefer Tequila or Whiskey drinks but when in Rome. Both drinks were fairly strong and help to start a relaxing week. A table one foot from the sand in Hawaii is always a no-brainer. read more
