Walked by kalakaua one Friday night and chance upon the beach bar inside Moana Surfrider. Ambiance is vibrant for an outdoor bar sitting, very busy with live entertainment. Wife loves their virgin pinacolada. We sat outside the bar, by the rocking chairs and enjoyed everyone walking around the resort. A great place to hang and act touristy and enjoy the vibe of old Hawaii. I wish the entertainment last until midnight. read more

Our compliments to TAYLOR - keep up the great work and customer service - I certainly hope your bosses take notice! Relaxing chairs next to the pool or bar, with adequate shade, nicely sheltered between the Moana Hotel buildings so not windy at all. Can order drinks and bar food. So an option to consider, however be prepared to pay the waikiki prices! A glass (actually plastic cup ...I guess due to the covid times?) of wine will set you back about $16 or so. This place was suggested by a coworker and definitely highly recommend it as well. They were busy but still had plenty of seating near and around the tree. Seating by the beach was hard to get but we got lucky. Getting a seat there close to sunset is a must!!! You get the sunset view and prime seating to watch the tree light up. Service is quick and the food was also great. The drink options are also great, although a bit pricey but it's Hawai'i we spent at least 4 hrs there just drinking, chatting, and enjoying the music of the live singers they have performing. Best beach bar on Waikiki and it seems like a lot of other reviewers agree! It's located in the back of the Moana Surfrider Hotel and you can enter through the hotel front entrance or just from the beach. Both the hotel and bar are super grand, beautiful and clean. There's a nice pool, cozy lounge sofas for rent, and a huge banyan tree in the middle of it all - right off the sand. We first stopped here for lunch and both got fun drinks as well. I got a Kona Brewery lager and it came poured into a cold pint glass with a beautiful fresh flower on the rim. So beautiful and elaborate for my simple beer order! My husband got a pina colada and loved it. We also got a Caesar salad with chicken and cheeseburger. The salad was pretty good, but definitely not the highlight. We were thrilled and couldn't believe what an amazing view our table had. There were always tables available, so definitely come here even if it is just for one drink! We came back for happy hour a few days later and both got a cocktail while we sat outside and listened to the live hula performance. It was so peaceful and wonderful. The singers were amazing and they brought a local hula dancer on stage to perform with them. The cocktails were super expensive ($16-ish), but that seemed to be pretty consistent for any beach bar in the area. This is one of my favorite bars ever. EVER. There are RIDICULOUS views right next to the beach. I sat at a table where I was steps from Waikiki Beach and could see the sand. When I arrived I was so surprised that the table was vacant because it was just a prime spot. I knew that I chose right when I was about to leave and a woman walked up to me asking if her party could take the table after I left. My first drink was the 1944 mai tai ($16.50) which was delicious. My second drink was the kula strawberry mojito ($16.50) which was also amazing. It also looked good that someone from the next table over asked what the drink was because it looked delicious. You know how when some people think about their happy place they imagine themselves relaxing on the beach? My happy place is imagining myself sitting at The Beach Bar sipping on a drink while watching the sunset. From the live band to the drinks to the amazing views, this was just absolutely phenomenal. This is one of those locations where you're literally paying for great food and great VIEWS! This location was located right off the border, where the walking meets the palace--type of vibes. It's right on the sand! You get a perfect sunset view here, nothing like ever before. There's a live band playing during re-opening hours which was after 5pm. This was for dinner hours so expect to pay a quite a bit of money but it's well worth it. The guitar singer sounded amazing and even stayed for "song requests." We started off with the Ahi Poke Nachos which were over the top theeee best Ahi I've tasted thus far. The raw fish just melted in my mouth--the drizzle of the poke sauce/dressing, garnish and avocado sent me over the top! The Garlic fries were so flavorful and fulfilling. Lastly, the Lemon Herb Grilled Catch* of the Day was super yummy too! They didn't have to add anything else to this meal. Overall pretty pricey, with two drinks included about $145 so as I said--you're literally paying for the GOOD FOOD and the SUNSET VIEWS! Our waiter was extremely helpful and a great listener. Unfortunately they don't have mobile/Apple Pay, only card or cash. This made it quite hard for our other guests to continue with their bill quickly. I had stayed at this hotel so the Beach Bar was a convenient place to have drinks. The view is incredible, you're just steps away from the sandy beach! The drinks are on the pricer side for being served in a plastic cup but I presume it's to prevent broken glass on the beach. The crispy wing appetizer are a must, they're perfectly crispy and seasoned with enough to where you don't need any ketchup, ranch, or dip. We met our friends who were staying at the Moana Surfrider for drinks at the Beach Bar, which is located in the courtyard of the hotel. It was our first visit to the Beach Bar. They have 3 different versions of Mai Tais there. I decided to go with the strongest. The 1944 Mai Tai. It is probably the top Mai Tai I have ever had. It has the strength of a Buzz's Original Steakhouse Mai Tai and the sweet taste of Monkeypod Mai Tai. It gives you the warm feeling with a nice buzz when you stand up. My wife had a salad with grilled shrimp. She said the dressing was delicious and the shrimp grilled to perfection. She said it was one of the best salads she's eaten. I had the bacon cheeseburger. Can you go below 1 star??? First of all, it's first come first serve seating, so you find a table and wait for the server. I found a "closed" table and talked to the server who told me that I would be able to seat us there and he would serve us even if it is a closed table. He said he would hold it for us if we wanted to look around and couldn't find anything. Next thing I know I looked around like a couple feet just looking around and this guy slips him $40 and he instantly sat him! That was our first experience just walking into the area. Then we found a better seat next to the music which was perfect and ordered our drink and apps. The garlic Parmesan was in a pool of oil and was cold and inedible. So we asked if we could swap the fries to the poke nacho like the couple next to us. Next thing I know my boyfriend made the weirdest face and I asked him what wrong. The food runner took the poke nachos from the table next to us( they couldn't eat it because of soy and gluten allergies) walked to a server a couple of feet away from us and turned around a set the poke nachos on our table! Can you believe that??!!!!! With or without covid you can't take food off of another table walk a few steps then place it on our table!!! When I said I wanted what they ordered I didn't mean I wanted their plate!! It's raw fish that has been sitting there for 15-20 minutes and you do that in front of both tables who watch it all happen. When we talked to our server about it she had the audacity to say it was a completely different plate and called my boyfriend a liar, until the table who was right next to us chimed in to back us up. she stopped talking and walked away.. When we tried to get the check for our drinks she blew us off multiple times as did other servers in the area until my boyfriend had to walk and hunt down the restaurant manager to tell him what happened.. You know what the manager said, "sorry, but I can't really do much, I can comp you a couple of drinks when you come back". We got so furious we left our card in the check book and they couldn't find it as we went up to the beach house restaurant next door because the front desk manager actually took the reigns and turned the night around. First time in here and I'm having a great time. The reason I gave 3 stars is that, the price is way too expensive. Kind'a ripping you off. But the value on it (location & setting) is way too great! With the beach and the banyan trees and a pretty sunset will make you pull in to grab some drinks and had a great relaxation near the beach. The chicken wing is just perfect. The sauce is great (I truly love it). The drink is refreshing and the service is just right. Not that great, but just right. I mean, he is awesome but not much. The guy is funny and really had a great humor. It's just the price men. Just the price. But overall the place is great. The service is right. And the food is excellent.
