Very nice but chill hotel bar/lounge, also easy to locate. I came with my sisters and cousins for some drinks and pupus. We had fries, flatbread, and nachos. All were tasty and so were the drinks. It's a nice place to hang after a good walk around Waikiki. read more

I came here on my honeymoon because lonely planet recommended this place. I do have to say it was lively and the view of the water at night is something magical. I was not impressed by their food and it was really expensive. We both ordered burgers and our bill for the burgers and drinks was almost $50 which is a little too much. Gorgeous hotel. Lovely outdoor patio bar on a stunning beach. And yet one of the laziest bar drink menus I've ever seen. When your hotel is rated as one of the nicest on the island but your bar manager puts a white Zinfandel on your wine list, you're no better than a Motel 6. I will say that the server out there was fantastic. That and the live music made it a great evening in spite of the limited choices. Great ambience with good drinks. I had the Mai Tai and for the second drink asked the bartender to surprise me with a strong one. Ended up with green colored Long Island Ice tea which was delicious and had a kick to it! Food was good, we had the fish and chips. Service is a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. We did order chicken wings which never came to the table but we were having such a good time and were quite full, so we didn't mind. We stumbled on the beach bar because we wanted to get a drink right next to the beach and watch the sunset. Beach bar is part of the Westin Surfrider hotel so if you have a room there, you can charge it back to your room. The drinks were alright, but the service is not really up to par since there are few staff and too many seating. We found ourselves sitting around for a while with no service. The food is kinda eh, your standard bar food with an island twist and some sandwichs, but I wouldn't suggest getting a meal here. I had the pina colada which was really good and the lime daiquiri which wasn't good. The scorched pineapple is also really good. They have live local music from 6-8 which is nice (although there is a 1 drink minimum during live performances) The main downside was the area facing towards the beach has shrubs covering the view so you really can't get a view of the beach/sunset unless you stand. I'm assuming its there so it gives some privacy to the folks sitting in the Beach Bar, but not sure if it helps more than it hurts to not see the beautiful sunset while enjoying your pina colada. read more

This place is beautiful but the service is SO BAD. Honestly one of the worst servers I've ever encountered. The food wasn't good enough to outweigh the awful service. Half of our party couldn't finish their meal it was so bad. Our server was a caveman who barely uttered TWO WORDS to us, and is obviously miserable working here. Not okay to treat customers this way when the food is so damn expensive and this is obviously an upscale kinda place. When handing us the bill he slammed it on the table and said "tip is included" and walked away. I'm not even kidding. That's it. We went to the manager to have the tip refunded, and she didn't even ASK WHY. She also didn't understand that the tip was included!!!! There were only six of us, I've never heard of this with only six people. Royal Hawaiian makes no mistakes. Beach Bar is beautiful and sophisticated. If you are not buying drink up. Music at night.. service has aloha... not a active crowd.. but if you want action go Dukes on Sunday. Pink Hotel is icon so it is a must as is Halekulani & Dukes. Food is not memorable but better than most hotels in town. Nice place to end the evening if you are over 30 or staying at the palace. read more

Nice beach front location with beautiful views of diamond head, shaded under a large banyan tree. The service is prompt and the courteous and each table had an umbrella for shade, and shelter from the small and short November rain. Live music was a talented guitarist with a fantastic voice who performed several pop songs with an island bent, including a Katy Perry song. The only downside here is the expensive drinks and food. Cocktails will set you back $12, bud light draft for $6.50, better beers for $7. Glasses of wine start at $9. Most pupus were $14 to $20. The cheeseburger was $18!!! Needless to say, we had one drink and moved on. Perhaps that's the point. Waikiki is notoriously high on riffraff, maybe the prices are designed to keep the high rollers and deter the common folk. read more

I came across this bar as i was strolling down the beach. It's behind the very nice and bougie Moana Surfrider hotel, which btw i need to stay in one of these days. They got live music at certain hours and it is a super chill spot with views of the ocean. Plenty of seats and just a cool place to drink some strong, yet sweet drinks. Prices are bit higher but then again, you are in waikiki. I definitely recommend this spot and it is probably the one of the best (if not the best) bar on the beach in my opinion. read more

We were here on a weekday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and totally enjoyed the local entertainment accompanied by hula dancing. Service was attentive and accommodating even though it was busy. Very good drinks and Loaded French Fries! Take advantage of the validated valet parking if you spend $25 at the Beach Bar. Located in the Moana Surfrider Hotel, it has an absolutely beautiful view of Waikiki beach because... you are ON the beach. There are shaded tables as well as sunny ones. The service was very good. Our server was always there when we needed him. The food was outstanding. I had the mahi mahi tacos with that great Hawaiian slaw. My husband had the fish and chips. Excellent. Ordered 2 coconut waters. 1. The wait for the drinks and waitress was awful. 2. The coconut waters are store bought $2.50 for $7. They didn't even bother putting it in a cup to hide the fact that it's overpriced coconut water they're giving you. 3. Coconut water was expired by over a month. We told the waitress which she apologized for and took another several min to bring us another bottle of coconut water, explaining that this was the last bottle available that wasn't expired. Surprise! The bottle was also expired. When we asked the waitress, she claimed she couldn't read the date on the bottle. TLDR: If you're buying coconut water, check the expiration date. read more

Came here for lunch after a morning in the sun on the beach. Super comfortable and relaxing restaurant. It's located within a hotel and there was also a wedding reception in a nearby reception room which looked lovely. (Get ready for some scenery descriptions) We sat under the shade of their large Banyan tree and next to a great view of the beach. A guitarist was also playing and singing lovely tunes while a soft breeze would sweep away the lingering heat. Absolute bliss. Cocktails are tasty and strong. I ordered a mai tai and the poke appetizer for a meal. The poke was deliciously fresh and flavorful. Definitely a wonderful vacation lunch spot. Thinking this used to be a 4 star establishment back in the day, didn't think I would have to ask our waitress to clean the table. She did so, hap hazardously and annoyed we asked. Staying at the Moana now for a week trip. I have to say the service at the beach bar is terrible, computer systems went down and all the staff just stood around and didn't know what to do. A few days earlier it took nearly 15 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge my presence and it was not busy. Food and drink is a joke, I don't mind paying but the quality is horrible. Mai Tai is a cup of rum with pineapple juice and sugar. The $21 burgers are Costco patties on a dry bun with fries out of a bag and mass produced Heinz condiments. No refills on a $5 coke! "Sorry" Do you yourself a favor and walk across the street to the Japanese market for a bring your own lunch by the pool (btw pool staff is awesome, drop them a $5 bill for the towel service and banter) And then head over to the Halekulani a few hotels down for a proper cocktail and see the sunset in an equally amazing surrounding. It's really a shame because the banyan tree and ocean view is pretty amazing. Come on Moana you can do better! read more

You definitely can't beat the impeccable view at the Beach Bar in the Moana Surfrider. The bartenders are super personable, fun and are clearly dedicated to your good time. They've put forth the time to commit drinks to memory, even to guests staying a short amount of time. They definitely help make this a good experience. Overall, you're not going to get stellar quality drinks here, and you shouldn't expect to come here for the top shelf product, while they do offer good product. You're here for the good times, and good views. The ambiance doesn't compare to that of a bar, but it's more relaxed, and chill. Overall I'd recommend this for a nice afternoon drink, but I wouldn't be so quick to recommend this over Dukes where there's a bit more of an ambiance. I haven't tried their food, but their poke nachos looked interesting if you so desire! read more
