John was incredible! Called and he came out within a few hours on a Sunday. He was the 7th business we tried, and though I'm not afraid of bees, I'm horribly afraid of wasps and hornets. This wasp was mocking me from inside our outdoor laundry area. Every time I opened the doors, it was flying around, and then would come towards me, resulting in me running like a baby to hide in the house. I was a little frantic when I called, so you can imagine my relief when he said he'll be out within a few hours. When he arrived, he was able to identify the type of wasp, and gave us a lot of great background information about them. Turns out it was a black and yellow mud dauber wasp. They're generally docile and solitary, with either them and their mate, or just them. The internet informed me they only sting when protecting their nest, so it's a good thing we got rid of it from a heavily trafficked area. He found and removed an old inactive nest, and then found the new one which had a bunch of newly paralyzed spiders in it (turns out they paralyze their prey to lay eggs into, then fly away leaving their eggs to feast on the host when hatched, and then they, too, fly away). It was actually really cool / gross to see, I didn't know this type of wasp built their nests out of mud... it was perfectly shaped, it was badass tbh. I felt a little sad when the wasp came back and was like "Nooo where's my nest with my mud dauber baby larvae?" John quickly got his wasp & hornet insecticide and put it out of their misery. He even left it with us in case they come back, which was really nice of him to do. Random new interesting information aside...
