My parents and I came here for lunch, paid and tipped, and then sat down at a table upstairs waiting for our food. I ordered an egg white omelet, my dad ordered the black bean burger and my mom ordered two pancakes. Thirty minutes later and still no lunch. I asked to speak to the manager, especially after person after person seated after us got their food, but I was told the manager was busy making smoothies. I now see why they ask for the tip before you actually get your food. I would never eat here again, especially with all the other choices downtown. Stay clear of this place! read more

The menu features local, seasonal products and dishes are presented with the brilliant use of restraint which tells you that it's all about the food. My lamburger was perfectly cooked medium-rare as requested, the pesto chicken, bombster scallops and pulled pork entrees that my fellow dining companions ordered were thoroughly enjoyed. The housemade rolls and breads make this place stand out, as does some of the unique menu items such as fried chickpeas (available as a side dish). The greens accompanying my entree were local, fresh, and not overly dressed. It's not easy to find a gem like this. They chewy chocolate chip cookies and creamy Keylime pie were a great finishing touch. The food was good, which of course was the reason they were so busy (good for them), however they should have had the courtesy to tell us this before we placed the order! And the folks staying in the restaurant were experiencing the same wait times... so avoid this place when it's busy, but consider trying it when you don't have to wait almost an hour for your meal. read more

Came here with some co-workers for lunch after visiting Colt State Park. A little awkward at first because I thought this was a table service establishment, but quickly realized that you order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. But then I couldn't find the menu. (They were kind of tucked behind the door as you enter.) Honestly, it was a tough choice to decide what I wanted. They have a lot of good items to choose from for lunch, including breakfast...which is the reason why my co-workers wanted to come here. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was ok. A bit bland and wish I would have went with something a little more non-traditional like the butternut squash sandwich or the black bean burger. They also have a lot of drink options to choose from. I wound up getting the Go Green iced tea which has fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Very good and refreshing on a hot day. Not sure how my co-workers felt about their food. But I'd probably come back and try it again if I was in the area. read more

Tommy and I stopped by a local cafe after our trip to the farm. We ordered banana bread and orange passion cake to eat. We slurped down the pastries with a honey pot expresso drink and caramel latte. Upon ordering our pastries, I noticed a few flies and mosquitos inside the bakery window - landing and flying around the baked goods. I told the server and she said, "well it's a humid day and the door is open"...like it happens all the time...I was pretty much appalled, but still ordered. We came to this cafe because of stellar reviews on Yelp...but, I'm afraid I will have to pass up on the next opportunity to dine here. Who knows what else is lurking in the kitchen. We snacked upstairs. It was quiet, relaxing and overlooked the waters. The banana bread was dry, but really... I think I make a better banana bread. The orange passion carrot cake was good though. A little on the sweet side, but expected of the frosting. It meshed well with the moist cake. The honey pot expresso drink was a concoction of espresso, milk and honey. A favorite restaurant of mine where I can count on healthy, tasty menu creations! These guys are different, as their food is made with local produce. A gem in RI in my opinion. My bf and family came in the morning after a snow storm hit and found the place to be welcoming at 10am. The atmosphere and food/beverage menu was a treat. The girl behind the counter filled us in that we were to order first and seat ourselves anywhere we wished because the food would be brought to us. Unfortunately a couple occupied the comfy chairs upstairs that I eyed right away but sat at a table since we all ordered breakfast. I had the banana nutella pancakes which were just perfect so that I had no need to add syrup. My bf and his dad customized their omelets that came with a side of fruit. His mom had a delicious fried egg sandwich that quickly disappeared. Coffee from New Harvest is brewed here which is always a plus when I see establishments use local roasters. When I come back to visit I will likely come here with a good book or my laptop (free wifi) and enjoy the setting with a cup of black coffee. read more

We've been to beehive several times now and the food is great every time. I love their sandwiches and chickpeas (spicy). My husband ordered the gnocchi today and it was pretty good (my smoked salmon BLT was better though). My kids had the chicken potpie and that was delicious; very creamy. We also shared a slice of pumpkin cheesecake which was very good. I love thier tea selection; the mademoiselle grey is my favorite so far (earl grey with rose petals) . We usually sit upstairs, which is nice and cozy. I also appreciate that they use Square for billing so we get a record of our receipt via email. If you order a drink to go, remember your barnyard animal. :) my kids love playing with them while we wait. read more

The food was good but everything else about the experience was not. If I'm going to spend $20 on breakfast for one person I would like my coffee to be refilled and some sort of table service. Staff was rude and never smiled. I felt like they thought they were doing me a favor rather than providing any type of service. Set your expectations appropriately and you'll love this place. It's small and very busy for breakfast. BUT, the food is great and if you chill and enjoy the experience you'll love it. I rode 35 miles from southern MA with a bicycle group for breakfast. They were already busy when we got there, and there were 18 of us, so sure it was going to take a long time. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a vanilla latte. The latte was perfect. The sandwich was excellent, large and included homefries (or fruit). The only small negative I had was...we ordered our food "to go", knowing it would be hard for us to find enough seating for our group. The staff was very vocal that if we got our food "to go" we could not sit at a table...whatever...we sat on the grass next to the sidewalk...but, that was kind of weird when we thought we were actually being helpful. The food was excellent! My husband and I went with another couple. My friend and I had the breakfast burrito, which tasted fresh and flavorful. Another got the BLT, which he enjoyed. My husband got the buttermilk pancakes, which were tasty, with a side of cornbread and scrambled egg; the only issue was shell in his egg- it was one egg so that was a pretty careless mistake. Deserts are crazy delicious and all farm fresh local ingredients that you will feel good about eating! We went because of the great reviews. Unfortunately they missed two sandwiches that were part of our order. My teenagers backed me up so I know I said it :) It took about 40 minutes to get the food. The food is good and fresh! No one wiped the tables, and we had to ask because ours was sticky and there were lots of flies (but open windows so understandable, just not necessarily pleasant around food). I probably won't go back because of our bad experience with service, but I can see why people like it. read more
